Moving Podcast New RSS Feed
I am having to move my podcast from self-hosted to Podbean.
(1)
TO set up the new podcast, Podbean asks for my iTunes Feed ID.
Is this the numerical string after the id below (current link at iTunes store - behind album art):
xxxxxxxxxt/id303623613?mt=2
or is it something different (does it include the letters id)
(2)
How do I change the RSS feed on iTunes?
Do I let Podbean submit the new feed to my existing iTunes Feed ID?
Or do I have to change the RSS feed in iTunes? How?
(I want to be sure to keep reviews, listings, etc.)
THANKS!
Because the new feed carries the same podcast title as the old one iTunes thinks it is the same podcast and gives you the 'already submitted' message. Searching on 'Pink Soup' throws up two podcasts in iTunes: one of them carries the same episodes as the Feedburner page minus the latest item.
You would do better to submit an XML file directly to iTunes rather than letting Feedburner do it: there have been complaints of problems with Feedburner and iTunes.
If you felt up to re-titling your podcast you could submit it as a new one. If you are able to get at the XML file now being used by iTunes you could post a new XML file and redirect iTunes to it from the old one:

What did you try In Launchpad?
Hold the option key until the icons start to "jiggle"
Then you should see an X to delete an app.

Can I stop Apple Hot News RSS feeds?
Hi
Can I unsubscribe from the Apple Hot News RSS feeds? I don't read them and really don't know how I signed up for them in the first place! If someone could tell me how to stop them appearing in my inbox that would be great.
Many thanksI am fairly certain you can do this by simply deleting the feed. You can "right click" on the feed and select delete. That should do it.
I also stumbled upon a listing in the Preferences. You go to Rules. (Click the arrows pointing to the right.) and there is a listing for Apple News. I don't know what that is but it looks like it can be deleted if you need to. I hesitate to delete something if I don't know what it does.
BTW - Let me just say I am a new Mac user so don't take what I say as gospel. -
Hi,
I have an established podcast (Tommy Unit Live) but the RSS feed is no longer valid. Do I need to request a new show (set up a new show) to update with the currect RSS feed?
Thanks for any help anyone can provide.
Tom MeehanDo you mean that the old feed no longer exists and you don't have access to the server to replace it? In that case your best hope is to email Support at podcasts 'at' apple.com and ask them to transfer the iTunes Store's attention to the new feed: give them the ID number or the URL of the Store page, and the URL of the new feed - check this beforehand by subscribing manually in iTunes (from the 'Advanced' menu) so that you are sure you are dealing with a working feed.
They've just done this for someone else so hopefully they will do it for you: the alternative is to start again from scratch and submit the new feed as a completely new podcast (you would need to change the title slightly or you will be told it has already been submitted). -
There are several podcasts that I would like to listen to on my iPod that are not available through iTunes. Many of these podcasts offer content via RSS Feeds. Is there a way to automate how/where these RSS feeds are downloaded so as to be automatically included in the iTunes library?
Here is an example of an RSS feed I would like to download into iTunes: http://www.publicbroadcasting.net/wiaa/.jukebox?action=viewPodcast&podcastId=185 7
Any direction would be greatly appreciated....Cocomj,
Yes, since you have the link for the podcast, open up iTunes.
Go to the Advanced Menu, and then to Subscribe to Podcast, and copy that link into the box.
Then the Podcast will be added to your iTunes section.
I checked with the link you provided and it worked for me for IPR News Features.

IWeb, Podcasts, and RSS feeds
http://web.mac.com/realityramble
So I feel like I made a grave error in choosing iWeb to create and .mac to host my podcast. After creating the podcast page in iWeb and publishing it to .mac and the iTunes Music Store, I noticed that the podcast didn't have artwork when you find it in ITMS like it should have. I emailed ITMS and they replied that I have to manually update my RSS feed. No problem, except...
I've no idea how to do this! I know what to change and all that to add the artwork that should be there as well as the ITMS search keywords, but I have no idea where to find my RSS feed on my computer so that I can update it. ITMS email help told me to do a spotlight search on my computer but I can't find it anywhere.
iWeb doesn't tell you where the website is saved on your computer and I can't find it for the life of me.
Does anyone know how I can manually update my RSS feed? Again, I've found the page that tells me how I'm supposed to change the feed and I know what to do once I find it, but I can't find the bugger!
This seems ridiculous, and creating your site on iWeb is supposed to be the easy and fool-proof method, but it's really not and I'm really frustrated.Hi Keith
You need to look in your iDisk (if you don't have it mounted go to System Prefs > .Mac > iDisk, and wait till it's synchronized).
Your RSS.xml file will be in a subfolder of your Web folder - open it in TextEdit, make your changes and Save.
It worked for me http://phobos.apple.com/WebObjects/MZStore.woa/wa/viewPodcast?id=167005059

ITunes Podcast Downloading RSS Feed
Hi, I'm trying to submit a podcast, but it keeps asking for an RSS feed. What is this? How do i figure out what to put in?
The Store checks only the latest episode of your feed when you submit your podcast. The media file URL for your latest episode, Day 21, is
http://adamstadtmiller.com/wp-content/uploads/podcast/P4YE21DAY121.mp3
and there is no file at this address. This is because you've mistyped it: the actual URL is
http://adamstadtmiller.com/wp-content/uploads/podcast/P4YE21DAY21.mp3 -

All,
We have set up an RSS Feed for Oracle HTML DB News - which mirrors our News section on our OTN Home Page: http://htmldb.oracle.com/otn
Here is the link:
http://www.oracle.com/technology/products/database/htmldb/news/htmldb.rss.xml
We'll be posting details about how to subscribe to the HTML DB Newsletter in the next few days as well.
Thanks,
- Scott -Robert,
I suspect your Database Access Descriptor on XE is not /pls/xe, but it probably is 'htmldb'. Same for probably the port (unless you specified port 80 at installation/configuration time). So try:
http://localhost:8080/htmldb/hr.hot.rss

How Can I delete an RSS Feed in iTunes/podcasts?
I have an old rss feed that I want deleted in itunes. I have created a new rss feed and it's up and working great. I want the old one deleted.
I have used "Report a Concern" and asked itunes to delete the old feed, but nothing has happened. so I went to the files and renamed them all and re-pinged the page so itunes would realize that the feed no longer works, but that hasn't work either. I've searched the forum but can't seem to find out how to have itunes delete the old podcast feed.
Any ideas?
I realize that I should have done this a different way, but I didn't know that then... I do now.Just to confirm that you originally had a podcast accepted in the iTunes Store, and now you have had a second version accepted with a different Store URL? The procedure you have followed is the correct one, though I don't know how long it's likely to take the Store staff to get round to removing it. Just remove the original feed from the server: it will still show in the Store, which has cached it, but obviously subscribing won't work, and the absence of the feed may encourage the Store staff to remove the Store page.

Right now, when I click to add a new rss feed (using the icon up in the search bar), it automatically launches yahoo, which drives me crazy. I want to CHANGE the setting so that it automatically launches google reader. Please advise!
See http://lifehacker.com/392287/set-firefox-3-to-launch-gmail-for-mailto-links
Set the pref gecko.handlerService.allowRegisterFromDifferentHost to true on the about:config page.
Run this javascript code via copy and paste to the location bar and press the Enter key to run the code.
<code>navigator.registerProtocolHandler('mailto','https://mail.google.com/mail/?extsrc=mailto&url=%s','Gmail');</code>
Do not forget to reset the pref gecko.handlerService.allowRegisterFromDifferentHost to false after you have added Gmail.
To open the ''about:config'' page, type '''about:config''' in the location (address) bar and press the Enter key, just like you type the url of a website to open a website.
If you see a warning then you can confirm that you want to access that page. -
I was hoping someone could help me with this issue I have.
I have been using Libsyn for about 1 year to push my RSS feed to iTunes. It worked like a champ. My website is www.bowcast.com and my RSS feed was www.bowcast.com\rss.
Recently, I have redesigned my website and moved it to a new server. My website is working fine. I re-submitted my RSS feed to iTunes about 10 days ago (new feed - http://www.bowcast.com/index2.php?option=compodcast&feed=RSS2.0&nohtml=1). I have the following issues:
1) iTunes has not been updated. It still has the old RSS feed, and my users are getting an error that the "old" RSS server could not be found (which makes sense because I have moved it. Therefore, my latest episodes are available on my new site, but not in iTunes.
2) I actually want the "old" iTunes submission (i.e. the old artowrk that I submitted over a year ago) to be taken down and the new RSS feed with the new artwork be posted.
Does anyone have any idea what I could be missing? I contacted Apple support and they suggested I start here.
Any help you could provide would be greatly apppreciated.
aroneyIt still has the old RSS feed, and my users are getting an error that the "old" RSS server could not be found (which makes sense because I have moved it. Therefore, my latest episodes are available on my new site, but not in iTunes.
By submitting a new URL to iTunes (if you become approved) you have in effect created a duplicate listing in the Store of your podcast. The new URL doesn't have any connection with your previous listing . . . so your old listing will be the way it is forever, unless you still have access to Libsyn or you send in a request to get the listing removed. Also, none of your old subscribers will know about your new listing unless they specifically go looking for it.
It looks like what you wanted/should have done was to put in a redirect in your Libsyn feed so that you didn't lose any subscribers, and didn't create a second listing in the store. I would still recommend trying this if your new listing hasn't shown up and if you still have access to Libsyn.
As for your second question, when/if your new feed is approved, it will contain your new artwork and any new elements you have put in your feed. -
RSS Feeds wont open in one window anymore
Hi everybody. Got a weird one for you.
I used to be able to "middle click" (clicking my scroll wheel on my logitech mouse) on the "RSS Feeds" in my bookmark bar to view ALL new RSS feeds. That is, when I middle clicked on the "RSS Feeds", the RSS screen would open with ALL new articles on the one page, no matter how many RSS sites I had bookmarked.
For some reason just recently when I middle click the "RSS Feeds", Safari still opens the RSS screen as usual but with none of the NEW RSS feeds. "RSS Feeds" in the bookmarks bar still shows I have unread articles.
I have to open each feed individually. It's a bit of a pain.
I can't seem to find ant articles on this problem. As far as I know I didn't install any new software that would have conflicts with this.
Any idea what I can do to fix it. Thanks in advance.Hello Rick
Thanks for that. I probably didn't explain myself very well.
I am happy with the exe files opening in different windows it is
the html files that is the problem. The three menu files are all
html files and it is when moving between these that the multiple
window problem arose. I say 'arose' because following my message I
went back to try yet again and found that if I put all the files on
the CD without any being in a folder AND in the Advanced dialogue
box of the Text Properties - where the Link is defined - clicking
on the 'Apply to All links' button, then the menus actually open
using the same window; or at least, the sub menus do, the Main menu
window remains open with the Main menu in it. I have spent so long
messing around with this that I am going to have to settle for that
outcome I think.
All very confusing really!!
John
