Moving Podcast to new website

Hi
This is probably a really basic question, but I just want to make sure I'm doing it right!  I use Wordpress and Podpress to submit my podcast to iTunes, but I am moving the hosting site.  How do I notify iTunes of this change?  There is an iTunes:New-Feed-Url box in Podpress - do I complete this in the old feed with details of the new one?  Or just complete it in the new one?  And if it's just the new one, how do iTunes know that it is the same podcast?  I'm really struggling to get any sense out of Podpress help guide, so hoping you guys can help!
Thanks

I can't advise specifically on PodPress. The process is that you add the URL of the new feed in the 'itune:new-feed-url' tag in the old feed - this means that you have to have the new feed up and running first, and then add the tag to the old feed. You need to upload the amended old feed and leave it there for around two weeks.
New subscribers will subscribe to the new feed immediately: existing subscribers will be moved to it the next time their iTunes application checks the feed (and won't even notice the difference). The iTunes Store will probably take a couple of days or so to notice the change and will from then read the new feed, maintaining your reviews and rankings but showing any changed that are in the new feed.
After a couple of weeks you can remove the old feed (this period is just to make sure all existing subscribers have had a chance to check and update the feed).
So in Podpress you add the tag to the old feed, It doesn't matter if it gets added to the new feed as well, it won't have any effect.

  • My new website is screwed in IE - help

I've been working on my new website for about a month.  All along the way, I've been testing it in IE, FF, Chrome, and Safari.  It's been working great - no glitches or problems.
So I launched it last Friday and all looked good across all browsers.  I just checked it about an hour ago - in Chrome and FF it looks the same as it always does.  But in IE, it now looks messed up - some of the text drags on out of the boxes and some other text doesn't even show up :-(
The footer boxes look great in other browsers, but now it looks as if the CSS is screwed up in IE.
Can someone tell me what's wrong with it?  I use DW 4 to edit it.

Is the backup you have iWeb's +*Domain file*+ or the folders of published HTML & media files? ...Because only iWeb's Domain file can be opened in iWeb. See this Apple doc on How to back up MobileMe data. It says:
Any websites you have published with iWeb should still be available within iWeb. iWeb stores everything in a Domain file, normally located in the ~/Library/Application Support/iWeb folder (although it can be moved). If you no longer have this file, you can view your currently published pages and manually recreate them within iWeb, but there is no way to import published pages back into iWeb. You can manually back up the Domain file, or use Backup to back it up.
IWeb's Domain file name ends with an invisible ".sites2" — so you can search for that in Spotlight and if a Domain file comes up in the list of hits, you can open it in iWeb by double-clicking that Domain file.
But as Spotlight does not look in all areas of the hard drive, download and run Find File to search for ".sites2".
If you can't find the Domain file, paragraph 2.3 of this FAQ page gives some tips on how to use published files, graphics, photos, etc., to help rebuild the site from scratch:

  • DW CS4 Question about Moving Content to New Site

    Hi,
I'm supposed to meet with a client later about creating a new website and moving all content from the old to the new.  Right now, I have no idea how many pages the old one has.  I'm assuming the worst, which means I'm assuming there will be a lot of pages.
So after I create a new home page and then a new secondary page, is there some kind of automated procedure Dreamweaver CS4 has that will help me quickly get all of this old content into the new content?  I'm hoping there is because I really want to avoid having to go to each old page, copy the content, and then paste it one by one.  As I think about this, though, if suppose the old site has 100 pages, I guess I'll have to create 100 new secondary pages, then somehow get the content of each of these 100 pages into the new 100 pages.
    Any help is appreciated.

I agree.  I'm thinking it will probably be easier to start from the ground up.  My biggest fear is it will be 5,000 or 10,000 pages.  And from what I understand (I'll get more specifics at the meeting) the job must be done by 10/27/10, which leaves precious little time.
I'm meeting with the client this week so as of right now, they cannot show me the existing site until the meeting.

  • Safari won't load my new website, keeps defaulting to old website

I'm stumped.  I am moving my iWeb website to another website builder.  I've published my new website to the host but when I type in the correct url on this computer, it defaults to the old website, over and over.  I've cleared history, cache, cookies, etc.  Everything I can think of my nothing makes any difference.  But, on 2 out of 3 of my other Mac's, I can see the new published website just fine.  Can't see the new website on this Mac, my iPhone, or iPad.
My new website address is abc.com, and my old website from iWeb is abc.com/abc.com/home.html.  For some reason iWeb added the second abc.com/home.html.  I have no understanding of why.  When i type in my new address www.abc.com it opens the old website, but when I hover over the address it doesn't say abc.com, it says abc.com/abc.com/home.html.   Can't get rid of the second abc.com/home.html
Hope this isn't too confusing, and appreciate any help.
    thanks,
    donald

    Linc,
Thanks for your response.  I was on the phone with apple to day for 3 hours.  We did many things and finally got the problem solved.  Not sure which one fixed my problem, buy somehow Parallels was taking over some part of OS X and stopping me from seeing the correct URL.  I got rid of Parallels for now and all my problems went away.  I'll try to download it again as I need it for only one program I use.  Once again thank you for your time and knowledge.  It's appreciated.

  • Sometimes my computer takes too long to connect to new website. I am running a pretty powerful work program at same time, what is the best solution? Upgrading speed from cable network, is it a hard drive issue? do I need to "clean out" the computer?

Many times my computer takes too long to connect to new website. I have wireless internet (time capsule) and I am running a pretty powerful real time financial work program at same time, what is the best solution? Upgrading speed from cable network? is it a hard drive issue? do I only need to "clean out" the computer? Or all of the above...not to computer saavy.  It is a Macbook Pro  osx 10.6.8 (late 2010).

Almost certainly none of the above!  Try each of the following in this order:
Select 'Reset Safari' from the Safari menu.
Close down Safari;  move <home>/Library/Caches/com.apple.Safari/Cache.db to the trash; restart Safari.
Change the DNS servers in your network settings to use the OpenDNS servers: 208.67.222.222 and 208.67.220.220
Turn off DNS pre-fetching by entering the following command in Terminal and restarting Safari:
defaults write com.apple.safari WebKitDNSPrefetchingEnabled -boolean false

flash player has been installed multiple time without errors but bbc news website and even flash player help say it isn't. How do i get out of this loop? - using windows 7 ultimate and latest IE11

I have had the same problem for WEEKS and I cannot access any sites that use Flash. Flash has been installed on this computer since I bought it in 2012. I have allowed auto updates but for weeks the updates never get past Step 2 - is this because I do NOT want the Google Tool bar? I use NO tool bars as there is only 6 inches of vertical screen space. Is this because I uncheck wanting Chrome as a default browser?  It is already installed, I just don't use it.  I came to this site and ran the check is it installed and the system says it is either not installed or not enabled. Version 14 just downloaded about 30 minutes ago - but did not progress to Step 3 although a pop up screen came up with a finish button, which I clicked. WHAT is the problem and how do I fix it?  If this were just a compatibility bug between IE11 and Adobe they have had plenty of time to fix it.

  • How can I edit my website from another computer? and how can I create a new website next to the one, I have already? Can anyone help, please?

How can I edit my website from another computer? and how can I create a new website next to the one, I already have? Can anyone help, please?

Move the domain.sites file from one computer to the other.
The file is located under User/Library/Application Support/iWeb/domain.sites.  Move this file to the same location on the other computer and double click and iWeb will open it.  Remember, it is your User Library that you want and not your System Library, as you will not find iWeb there.
Just create a new site on the same domain file and it will appear below the other site.  If you want them side by side then duplicate your domain file and have one site per a domain file and they can then be side by side.

  • When I scroll over bookmarks a long list that I moved to my new computer as HTML show up, but when I try to bookmark a new file, and select "choose" no files in my list show up. I also can't seem to find "organize bookmarks"

I can't organize or add to my files. I just got a new computer and wanted to save old Firefox bookmarks. As above, when I drop down my menu of bookmarks and files, all the ones I imported are there. However, when I try to bookmark a new website and try to "choose" a place to organize it, none of my past bookmarks and files for organizing bookmarks show up. Help!

    Hi,
You can try deleting the '''places.sqlite''' file which stores the bookmarks + history, in your [http://kb.mozillazine.org/Profile_folder Firefox Profile Folder] after exiting Firefox. You can also open the profile folder via Firefox '''Help''' ('''Alt '''+ '''H''') > '''Troubleshooting Information''' > '''Open Containing Folder'''. The file will be recreated at the next Firefox startup. You can restore the bookmarks from a backup or via '''Bookmarks''' ('''Alt''' + '''B''') >''' Show All Bookmarks''' > '''Import and Backup''' > '''Restore'''. From here you can also '''Export Bookmarks to HTML''' and later '''Import Bookmarks from HTML'''.

  • Moved to a new Mac - iTunes Media horro

    Hi,
this drives me crazy: I moved to a new mac and can not get my iTunes to work.
iTunes just does not find my media files.
My old setup on a PowerMacG4 was:
folder iTunes with libraries in my home folder, but the music was on another volume
So inside the "iTunes Music Library.xml" (thats how it is named in the old iTunes) there is the entry
    <key>Music Folder</key><string>file://localhost/Volumes/blabla/Musik/</string>
pointing to the folder on the volume where my media files are.
Every media file has an entry in the xml, where the key "Location" points to the exact folder the file is located, e.g.
    <key>Location</key><string>file://localhost/Volumes/blabla/Musik/Alexandra/Die%2 0Legende%20einer%20Sa%CC%88ngerin/Mein%20Freund,%20der%20Baum.MP3</string>
I used "Migration Assistant" to move data from old disks to the new mac. Having connected the old volume blabla new iTunes found the files.
Having renamed the volume blabla iTunes still found the files and replaced all Location references. Magic?
So i copied all the media to my new mac to a new location and told iTunes (prefernece location of iTunes media) where my media files are.
Does not work. It still believes the file are on volume blabla. It never looks into te files copied to the new location!
Hmmm, so i looked inside the "iTunes Library.xml": The "Music Folder" is set correctly, but the files location points to the old volume.
Doing a replace for all locations in the xml doesn't work either, probably the itl-file holds the same information?
If i start iTunes again, it ovewrites all my changes made to the xml.
Not giving up yet, because I have read that if the itl is invalid, it gets rebuild from the xml i zap the itl and start itunes again. -> no more media files in the library.
I do not understand where iTunes stores its information, why there are two Library files (itl and xml) and which one is leading.
Please: how can i get itunes to recognize my media files.
This is the worst interface I've ever seen. I only want to move my media files and iTunes just does not let me do it :-(

The iTunes Library.itl file holds the key information. The .xml file is for third party support. If you have access to a working version of the library on the old machine then you can use the process in this thread to make your split library portable. Since the media has already been copied over you would then just need to copy the library files again while putting everything into the correct layout.
If that isn't possible it may be that you can trigger iTunes into fixing your broken links. Having set the media folder to the correct path in preferences, highlight a single broken tracks and attempt to Get Info. When iTunes complains the tracks is missing use the option to locate the track. iTunes should offer to attempt to fix other broken links based on the path to this one.

Well where is your library located now if not in the iTunes folder?  See the links below on what your iTunes folder should look like and put it back together:

  • I'm moving an internal hard drive from an old computer to a new computer.  How do I transfer the catalog data to my new computer so the Organizer of Photoshop Elements 6 will find the data on the hard that has been moved to the new computer?

I'm moving an internal hard drive from an old computer to a new computer.  (My new compute runs Windows 8.1) How do I transfer the catalog data to my new computer so the Organizer of Photoshop Elements 6 will find the data on the hard that has been moved to the new computer?  Is this possible or do I have to use the procedure of copying the catalog along with the photos to a back up hard drive and then restore them on the new computer?

The 'normal' procedure is to do a PSE organizer backup (not a copy or a backup from external tools) to an external drive, then a restore to the new location.
The advantage is that you have a backup of both catalog and media files and you don't have all disconnected files, which would happen with external backup tools. Also, if you restore with a more recent elements version, the catalog will be automatically updated to the new format.
The drawback in your situation is that you'll have either to overwrite all your files or restore to a custom location, creating a duplicate photo library (which supposes you have enough free space).
It would be possible to simply use the organizer in the old PC to move the catalog to a new 'custom' folder just under your C: root drive. The catalog would be accessible once the drive will be installed in the new PC. Then you would have all files 'disconnected' due to the fact that all your media files are now on a drive with a different letter. Reconnecting a whole library is a hard job with PSE6, less so with PSE11/PSE12.
If the idea of fiddling with the sqlite database with external sqlite manager tools is ok for you, I can describe the process more in detail. You only copy your catalog folder (as suggested above) to another location. Instead of trying the 'reconnection' way, you install the sqlite utility on the new computer. When the old drive is installed in the new computer, you simply edit a given record in the catalog database, catalog.psedb, and start the organizer with your copied catalog by simply double clicking the 'catalog.psedb' file.
Even if the last solution is much, much quicker, I would still create a new PSE backup : you have never too much safety .

  • Why am I getting an access denied message for the fox news website?

All of a sudden I am getting an "access denied to this server" message when I try to go to the Fox News website.  What's up with that?

I can tell you what's up with that. If this is the website you are trying to access, it works fine for me.
    http://www.foxnews.com/
Check this Settings>Safari>Accept Cookies>From visited. Make sure that it checked.
If it is and you still can't access the site - clear Safari.
Go to Settings>Safari>Clear History, Cookies and Cache. Restart the iPad. Restart the iPad by holding down on the sleep button until the red slider appears and then slide to shut off. To power up hold the sleep button until the Apple logo appears and let go of the button.

  • New website overwrites previous tab--how to open it in a new tab?

When I open a new website, rather than opening a new tab, it takes the one that's already open. How can I make it open in a new tab?

You can click on the link or bookmark using Ctrl+click or Ctrl+Shift+click.
One of them will open in the foreground in a new tab the other in the background into a new tab. Depends on your options settings.
Some items you might want to set in '''about:config''', see Firefox configuration variables relating to clicking on a link or on a bookmark. (#newtab)<br>http://dmcritchie.mvps.org/firefox/keyboard.htm#newtab
You might want to try these settings in your about:config as described in the above link.
    :'''browser.search.openintab''' user set '''true'''
    :browser.tabs.loadBookmarksInBackground default false (***)
    :browser.tabs.loadDivertedInBackground default false
    :browser.tabs.loadFolderAndReplace user set false
    :browser.tabs.loadInBackground user set false (***)
(***) you want these two to have the same setting so opening from a link will be the same as opening from a bookmark or opening from history.
