Moving presets from old Mac.

I just got a new computer. I re-downloaded Lightroom 2 from my Adobe purchase history. Now I need to be able to access my old presets and library. How do I move these over? NEED HELP ASAP.

Copy the Lightroom catalog(s) you're using, including the Previews folder to save time, as well as the presets folders from your old computer to the new one (while LR is closed). You can find the appropriate folder locations here for LR2.

  • Moving iPhoto from old Mac to new Mac

I got a new iMac and have been trying to move my iPhoto library from my old one to the new one. I followed instructions I found here in these discussions, but I'm still having trouble. Here's what I've done:
I copied the library from my old computer (from the Pictures folder) to a flash drive.
Then I moved it from the flash drive to the Pictures folder on the new Mac.
    Then I opened iPhoto.
Nothing happened, except a yellow sticky-note looking thing is there that says "To get started, do any of the following..."
I had read something else here about going to File and selecting Switch Library, so I did that and still nothing happened.
I even tried downloading the iPhoto Library Updater (something else I read about here), but it said it didn't need to be uploaded.
    Any ideas?

I tried hooking the computers together when I first got the new one last month, but it must have been too confusing for me (can't really remember why it didn't work) because I decided to just do it with a flash drive instead. Do I need to trash the iPhoto library that's on the flash drive before I format it, or will formatting delete it anyway? I thought I read that this flash drive was already formatted for Mac OS before I bought it, but maybe not. And if you have any instructions for me as to how to format it, I would greatly appreciate it. You've probably guessed I don't know much about all this.
    Thanks for your response

  • Moving music from old mac to new mac via iPhone

I have synced my iPhone with my iMac since I got it (July 07). I now have a Macbook and I want to transfer everything from my iMac iTunes library to my Macbook. Can I do this with my iPhone without messing up my iPhone. I have about 250 songs and few ringtones that I need to move to my Macbook. I also have about 40 photos and lot of contact information on my iPhone. All help will be appreciated!
I have both songs I bought off iTunes and songs from cd's, if this helps.

No. The iphone is not a storage device. It is designed not to allow this.
You can use migration assistant to move everything from your old Mac to your new Mac. I have done this and it works great.
You can transfer itunes purchases, however. In itunes, with iphone attached, click File>Transfer Purchases.
Photos are optimized for viewing on iphone and are a reduced quality. Like music the photo sync is one way - computer to iphone. You can e-mail them to yourself one at a time. They will be of reduced quality.
Again, Migration Assistant (included with your Mac) is intended for this very thing. Why not use it?

  • Moving Library from old mac to new

I just bought a new IMac and want to move my IPhoto library to the new Mac. Old mac is running IPhoto 7, New one has 8.0. I haven't been able to find a definitive answer on how to do this. I need to keep my Keywords. Tried to start Migration Assistant but after 20 minutes spinning it's wheels "calculating size" I gave up.
Is there an easy answer to this?

    John,
iLife '08 contains iPhoto '08, which is the name for iPhoto version 7, which should now be updated to 7.0.2. The previous version is iPhoto 6, from iLife '06, which has the highest update at 6.0.6. Is that clear as mud?
To move your library, copy the entire iPhoto Library folder as an entity to the Pictures folder of your new Mac. Then follow Old Toad's BatChmod fix to correct any permissions problems that may arise from the move:
"...download and run BatChmod on the iPhoto Library folder with the settings shown here, putting your administrative name, long or short, in the owner and group sections. You can either type in the path to the folder or just drag the folder into that field."
If that is the only library in your Pictures folder, then launch iPhoto and it should tell you it needs to upgrade your library to work with the new version. iPhoto will take care of the upgrade from there, and when it's done your library will be converted and opened in all its new v7 glory. If you already have a library in your new Mac, be sure to give the old library a distinct name before you copy it over to avoid overwriting the new one. Hold down the Option key while launching and you can choose which library you want to open. To merge libraries, you can use iPhoto Library Manager.
    Regards.

  • Moving files from old Mac to new one, via Firewire

I have an old G4, and recently bought a new iMac. I'm trying to transfer the files from my old computer to the new one via firewire (and I've also tried via ethernet cable). The G4 has two hard drives, one with system files, the other just used for data. When I connect the Macs by Firewire, with the G4 in Target mode, the iMac only recognizes the data hard drive. Is there a reason that anybody can think of why the system drive wouldn't show up?

FireWire Target Disk mode only connects to the master ATA drive on the ATA 0 bus; if there's nothing at that location, the computer will shut down instead.

  • Moving website from old Mac to new Mac

Hello, I have read a few of the discussions and I am sure that the reply to this question is in there somewhere but thought maybe someone could answer me directly as I didn't understand some of the other discussions.
My husband took our old macbook pro with him on business for 3 months and I had designed two websites on it. We only paid for one .mac account and on one of the websites we paid to have a domain name (www.heliwagon.com) if that matters.
So my question is how do I get those websites on my new mac so I can edit and work on them. I read in the other discussions about getting them on a thumbdrive and copying them to this computer but that isn't an option as I am not able to get to his computer for months. I also read about signing out and logging in as him but there is only one account set up on this new one and it's me....maybe I missed what they were saying on that one but hopefully someone can step me through it as I am a new mac user and need all the little steps.
Thanks in advance for any helpful hints.

Yes, that is exactly it. If you don't have a copy of the domain.sites file from his computer then there is nothing that you can do. You need the domain file to be able to make any alteration to your sites.
If you go into iWeb on your new computer, as you have found, unless there is a previous domain file with a site in it, then yes, iWeb will ask you to create a new site.
You will either have to wait until your husband returns to make the desired changes or e-mail him and ask him to do it.

  • Just moved CS4 Web from old mac to new using time machine. Apps won't launch. Help?

Just moved CS4 Web from old mac to new using time machine. I get an error when I try to launch a program on the new computer (150:30). After contacting live chat about the issue and providing all serial numbers etc. I was directed to a download. The download was a .dmg file that my computer did not recognize. It was suggested that I ask the experts on the forum how to resolve the issue. I have all the discs and serial numbers but the new macbook pro doesn't take discs (I guess they think all apps are downloadable now). Any ideas?

Hmm... I don't know why they sent you here... CS4 is not part of the Cloud
I have some download links for earlier versions of Premiere Pro and Premiere Elements, but not CS4 Web
My best idea is to take a LARGE USB memory stick to a friend with a DVD drive and copy your DVD over to the USB memory stick
Or, ask in the forum for your program(s) to find out if anyone has CS4 download links
If you start at the Forums Index https://forums.adobe.com/welcome
You will be able to select a forum for the specific Adobe product(s) you use
Click the "down arrow" symbol on the right (where it says All communities) to open the drop down list and scroll

  • MY system folder, including hidden folders are littered with duplicate folders and files with the suffix (from old Mac) How do I remove them

I have a Macbook Pro running Leopard 10.5.8. I had a problem with my my operating system (my fault, I moved a file I shoudnt have) couldnt boot up but was able to boot up from a backup. I managed to repair my original system except now all the system folders, including hidden folders are littered with duplicate folders and files with the suffix (from old Mac).  For the most part the dupes are an exact copy, but not always.  I want to remove them to free up space and cant imagine duplicate folders in the /system/library are not hindering my computer. But I dont know where to start and am afraid of doing irreparable damage. Any ideas

  • HT201317 Privacy concerns having files transferred from old Mac to new Mac.

I am buying a new Mac. I was told that all of my files and photos on my old Mac could be transferred to my new Mac if I left both Macs at the Apple Store for a couple of days. To be honest, I am concerned about privacy issues. Is there is a way to remove files and photos to iCloud and off the old Mac before taking it to the Apple Store?

    Welcome to the Apple Community.
You can't use iCloud to do this.
Moving information from one Mac to another is quite simple and you could do it yourself.

  • How can I get music from old mac to new mac?

How can I get music from old mac to new mac please?
Can't seem to make Migration Assistant work. Doesn't ask about or transfer files.

I just migrated into a new MBP from an old one.
It did not bring the music over.  Apple's instructions are to use the Home Sharing feature of iTunes.
Open iTunes on your old Mac.  Select Home Sharing under the Advanced menu.  Sign in.  Do the same on your new computer.  Then when the library appears under Home Sharing on the left-hand panel on your new computer's iTunes, you can select all and Add To Library.
    That's what Apple says, anyway.

  • Hello, I have transferred my Acrobat XI Pro from old MAC to the new one. After the transfer can not open any PDF file. Any idea how to solve this?

Hello, I have transferred my Acrobat XI Pro from old MAC to the new one. After the transfer can not open any PDF file. Any idea how to solve this?

    Hey ilyaz20360341,
Could you please specify how exactly did you transfer Acrobat from one MAC to other.
You might need to deactivate the software from your old machine and then activate it on the new one with the same serial number (for Acrobat license) or Adobe credentials (for Acrobat subscription).
If you have done the same way, then let me know if you are able to open Acrobat itself.
Do you get any specific error message while opening a PDF?
    Hope to get your response.
    Regards,
    Anubha
