Moving Previous Recipients from old Mac to new Mac??

I set up my new MacBook using the Mac Set Up Assistant copying all the information from my MacBookPro. It looks like 95%+ was transferred perfectly. Both Mac's use OS X 10.5.4.
One thing that did not transfer was the Previous Recipients in Mail. All the accounts transferred, all the old mail transferred and even the SPAM filters transferred. But not the Previous Recipient list.
I have a large number of Previous Recipients that I don't really want to have Address Book vCards for, but I do want to be able to search for their e-mail addresses when I need to send something out.
Does any one know:
1- Where the Previous Recipient file is kept?
2- Is there any special concerns in transferring that file to my new MacBook?
Thanks
Tim

that file should have transfered. that list is kept in homdirectory/library/application support/address book/MailRecents-v4.abcdmr. If it didn't transfer for some reason, transfer it by hand. there are no problems with doing that.

  • Trouble moving previous purchases from old account to new account

How do I move previous iTune purchases from an old account to my new account?  The old account was previously set up for work use.

You can't since they were purchased using a different Apple ID. You will need to ask Apple to make such a change.

  • Just moved CS4 Web from old mac to new using time machine. Apps won't launch. Help?

Just moved CS4 Web from old mac to new using time machine. I get an error when I try to launch a program on the new computer (150:30). After contacting live chat about the issue and providing all serial numbers etc. I was directed to a download. The download was a .dmg file that my computer did not recognize. It was suggested that I ask the experts on the forum how to resolve the issue. I have all the discs and serial numbers but the new macbook pro doesn't take discs (I guess they think all apps are downloadable now). Any ideas?

Hmm... I don't know why they sent you here... CS4 is not part of the Cloud
I have some download links for earlier versions of Premiere Pro and Premiere Elements, but not CS4 Web
My best idea is to take a LARGE USB memory stick to a friend with a DVD drive and copy your DVD over to the USB memory stick
Or, ask in the forum for your program(s) to find out if anyone has CS4 download links

  • Import Previous Recipients from another Mac?

I need to import the previous recipients from another Mac. The importing OS is Tiger 10.4.
I have figured out how to import Address Book data which was exported from a Windows machine as a .csv file. That worked beautifully.
But I don't see any means of importing previous recipients which it seems is only a simple list of names and email addresses.
Anyone know how to do it?
    Thanks.

Just answered my own question. Turns out the import of the Address Book data also imported supplied the Previous Recipient function with the data it needed.
You guys are great! Just ask the question and it works before getting an answer!

  • Moving "previous recipients" from Snow Leopard to Yosemite

    Hi all,
My Macbook Pro died. RAM came loose and so it couldn't boot.
It was time for a new laptop anyway so I bought a new one.
My old machine ran Snow Leopard (10.6.8) and was backed up with Time Machine.
My new machine has Yosemite (10.10.2)
I chose not to use Time Machine to restore everything from my old machine to my new machine. I had a lot of junk on the old machine that I didn't want anymore, so I've been reinstalling things individually and grabbing individual files from the Time Machine backup folders.
I'm trying to figure out how to get all my Previous Recipients imported into Mac Mail.
I found a few posts on the internet but their pretty old and they reference Address Book and Yosemite uses Contacts so I'm not sure how to proceed.
    Any help would be appreciated.
Also, both my email accounts are gmail-based so if there's some way to get the addresses from gmail online, I could do that too.
    Thanks in advance.
    P

I think I may have figured it out.
It looks like in Yosemite, the recents now lives here:
    ~/Library/Containers/com.apple.corerecents.recentsd/Data/Library/Recents/Recents
The Recents file is an sqlite3 file which you can browse (and export to CSV) with sqlitebrowser.
Previously, and I'm not sure when they made the switch (maybe Lion?; around Oct 2013 is the last my file was edited) it used to live here:
    ~/Library/Containers/com.apple.mail/Data/Library/SyncedPreferences/com.apple.mai l-com.apple.mail.recents.plist
I'm not sure of an easy way to import from the plist file, but you could always skim the file in a text editor and grab what you need. Not elegant, but it would work. If I figure something else out, I'll let you know.

  • Moving iPhoto pics from old mac to new mac

Running iPhoto 4 and trying to import all my photos into another iPhoto 4 on another Mac. Tried using import >iphoto Library where all my photos reside but get the familiar "unreadable files" message after it is completed. How do I get all my photos moved from my old Mac to new complete with the albums and organization it had on the old Mac?

    Michael,
simple.... well that is if you have an external HD, or DC/ DVD burner on the old mac!!
oprtion # 2 would be to use you old mac as a target drive and copy the entire library to you new mac into the pictures folder.
Tell me which one you'd like to do!!

  • Previous recipients - from old computer?

Is it possible to copy the 'Previous Recipients' file from my old G$ running OS 10.3.9 to my new Mac Mini with Leopard?
I am always being asked by my Boss to send an e-mail to 'that person who sent us one last year'. Since I probably never put that person into my Address Book, I rely a lot on the Previous Recipients list to fill in the blanks.
Please, someone, save my sanity (and save me from clumping my Boss next time he asks me that) - tell me how!
    Thanks!

If the old machine is still available, why not move the ones you want from Previous Recipients to Address Book, gather them into a group, and export the group for to import on the new machine?

  • Moving previous recipients from OS 10.5.8 to 10.8.2

How do I move previous recipients file from OS 10.5.8 to 10.8.2?

    Try this:
Repair the Hard Drive and Permissions
Boot from your Snow Leopard Installer disc.
Booting From An OS X Installer Disc
    1. Insert OS X Installer Disc into the optical drive.
      2. Restart the computer.
      3. Immediately after the chime press and hold down the "C" key.
      4. Release the key when the spinning gear below the dark gray Apple
          logo appears.
      5. Wait for installer to finish loading.
After the installer loads select your language and click on the Continue button. When the menu bar appears select Disk Utility from the Utilities menu. After DU loads select your hard drive entry (mfgr.'s ID and drive size) from the the left side list.  In the DU status area you will see an entry for the S.M.A.R.T. status of the hard drive.  If it does not say "Verified" then the hard drive is failing or failed. (SMART status is not reported on external Firewire or USB drives.) If the drive is "Verified" then select your OS X volume from the list on the left (sub-entry below the drive entry,) click on the First Aid tab, then click on the Repair Disk button. If DU reports any errors that have been fixed, then re-run Repair Disk until no errors are reported. If no errors are reported click on the Repair Permissions button. Wait until the operation completes, then quit DU and return to the installer.
If DU reports errors it cannot fix, then you will need Disk Warrior and/or Tech Tool Pro to repair the drive. If you don't have either of them or if neither of them can fix the drive, then you will need to reformat the drive and reinstall OS X.
Now quit Disk Utility and return to the installer. Install Snow Leopard.

  • Downloading album artwork, having moved iTunes library from old Mac to new

Hi, I've just moved my iTunes library to my new Mac. I want to download artwork, as most of this appears to have been lost in the move, I'm logged in to the iTunes store with my Apple ID, but can't see what to do next.  Help please?

  • Moving emails (Outlook) from old G3 to new iMac?

My father-in-law is finally replacing his old beige G3 (yay) with a new iMac. Since I'll be helping him set up his computer, how can I transfer all of his old emails (originally in Outlook) into Mail?
    G5 2.3 mhz   Mac OS X (10.4.6)   Ram aplenty.

Does the G3 running OS 9 have an internet connection?
If so and your father-in-law has a .Mac account (and if not he can create a free .Mac trial account with his new Mac) and then create his .Mac account as an IMAP type account in Outlook Express on the G3.
He can transfer messages from various mailboxes in OE to the .Mac account's Inbox mailbox. A .Mac type account in Mail under OS X is really an IMAP type account and behaves in the same way.
Launch Mail on his new Mac and the messages transferred with OE will be available in Mail on his new Mac.
Create "On My Mac" location mailboxes in Mail on his new Mac and transfer the OE transferred messages from the account's Inbox mailbox to the user created "On My Mac" location mailbox or mailboxes. This process stores the messages locally on the hard drive and removes the transferred messages from the server at the same time.

  • Having trouble moving iTunes collection from old computer to new

I just made the switch from PC to Mac, and with the Macbook I got a new iPod (5th gen Classic 160GB). On my old PC I'm not having trouble syncing my new iPod with iTunes and getting all 1200+ files onto the iPod. The trouble starts when I try to sync my iPod with iTunes on my new Macbook; it says there are 26 files that can't be transferred to iTunes from the iPod because this computer isn't authorized, but I authorized this computer and it continues to say the same thing. Also, even with those 26 files not making it over, somehow only 257 of the 1200+ files on the iPod are making it to iTunes.
tl;dr Most of the files on my new iPod aren't transferring to iTunes on my new Macbook. CAN SOMEONE PLEASE HELP??

I haven't, I've been using the same account since I first got an iPod. Although...I just noticed that all the songs that did transfer are songs I bought from iTunes. None of the songs I imported from CDs got transferred. What's the deal?

I successfully moved my iTunes Library from ly old Pc to my new one..Hooray! The problem I've found is that before I moved the library, I had purchased some music on my new PC..at least 75+ songs. When I moved everything over..it copied over my new library losing these files (I believe). Is there any way I can retrieve them again..without having to but them again?
