Moving project 2003 Custom Views to project 2010

How do I get the custom views that were created in project 2003 to show up in project 2010

Hi,
You can perform this workaround to copy Project  custom views via Organizer tool.
Open the Organizer in Project 2003>
Copy Content into the Global Template. More detailed steps:
For Project 2003, on the Tools menu, click
Organizer.
     For Project 2010, click the File tab, click
Into, and then      click Organizer—but see note below for some differences.
In the Organizer dialog box, click the
Views tab.
The list in the right box contains the custom views in the currently      open project.
     Note    to see Project elements from other projects,      you’ll need to open those projects first.
The list on the left contains elements in the Global template (also      knows as Global.MPT). Your job is to move the custom element from the      right side to the left side.
Select the custom view on the right side, and then click
Copy.      The custom view will be copied to the Global template and be displayed on      the left side.
Now, it get’s a little tricky at this point. If your “Corporate Cost      Gantt” view contains columns that you’ve added, then you’ll need to copy      over the associated table
as the next step. The associated table is the      one you specified when you created the custom view in the first place.      Typically, this would be the Entry table for chart views. So your next
step is to click the Tables tab, and then copy the Entry table to      the Global template.

  • Create a Custom View in Project Server 2010 that is Visible in MS Project

    Hello All,
    We want our PMs to consistently report Physical % Complete, but couldn't find an existing "Status" or "EVM" view.  So, in Project Server 2010, using Server Settings > Look and Feel > Manage Views, I created a customized project
    view using existing fields (no customized fields, if that matters).  The problem is that I cannot find the view when I open MS Project.  Under Manage Views, in the Format View section, I have selected "Gantt Chart (Views)" for the Gantt
    Chart format field.  The view defaulted to "Timesheet" for the Grouping format field.  Under the Security Categories section, I have selected My Projects and My Tasks.  I have not applied a Filter.  Any ideas why I cannot find
    this new custom view in MS Project?
    Was I supposed to create the new customized view directly in MS Project?  If so, where would I find the steps to do that?  Thank you!
    Julie

    Julie --
    Nice try, my friend.  Your only mistake was trying to create the Microsoft Project view in PWA.  You have to open the Enterprise Global for editing in Microsoft Project, and then create the custom view and table in the Enterprise Global. To
    open the Enterprise Global for editing, click File > Info > Manage Enterprise Global.  When you finish creating the custom view and table, then save, close, and check in the Enterprise Global file, and then exit Microsoft Project completely.
    The next time you or any of your PMs launch Microsoft Project and connect to Project Server, the custom view and table will be visible for every current and future project.  Hope this helps.

  • How to define a unique project level custom field in project server 2010?

    Hi every one;
    is it possible to define a unique project level custom field?
    our client wants to have a unique custom field( project code) which doesn't allow users to save and publish projects with the same value.
    for example if user A define a project and set "project code = 1" if user B define another project and wants to save "project code =1" for it, the server doesn't allow him to save this value and he has to change value for example to 2
    thanks for any help

    First of all you need to have Project server development environment also for coding visual studio hands on is required.
    To start with PSI (Project Server interface)you need to have Development Environment of Project Server 2010.
    you can get the overview from http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/office/ms457477(v=office.14).asp
    You
    can get the information about SDK: Download SDK.

  • Delete Enterprise Custom Fields in Project Server 2010

    Hello,
    We have Project Server 2010, SP2, in SEM mode. We recently removed some legacy unused Project Level enterprize custom fields from system, and observed that, the fields are not visible via PWA System Settings, but still see them in Project Pro, Project Information
    dialog and also available as a field that I can add it to a view.
    I have already tried following:
    - Clear the roaming profile (global.mpt) and exit out of Project Pro, and reconnect to Project Server... but still see those fields.
    Any ideas, why we see it, and is there any additional steps we need to perfome to remove from Project Pro?
    Please suggest.
    Regards,
    Kishore Dodda
    Kishore Dodda

    Hello,
    They should have removed automatically. I have seen this before and carried out these steps:
    http://pwmather.wordpress.com/2012/02/22/projectserver-2010-msproject-enterprise-global-custom-fields-out-of-synch-ps2010-ps2007/
    Fully backup the system before doing this and test on a DEV / Test system first.

  • Project server 2013----new custom field value is not synced between my work assignment view and project professional

    Hi All,
    I would like to add a new custom enterprise field in project server to caculate the effective work. I hope it can work as the default field "work" and "overtime work". And I add my custome enterprise field to my work assignment and the
    related details view. User can update the values in "my task" but after PM accept the updates, these values are not synced to the project center as well as project professional. Any idea?
    Regards,
    Anna

    Yes, I am saying that the PM cannot see the updated values in the enterprise project in Microsoft Project 2013. It is a task custom field. No errors for it. Would you please help create a task custom field on your side to see whether you can reproduce
    this issue? After creating the field, please add it to the "My task" related views so that project members can update the value for the task when they update the task information under "my tasK" page. After that, open the project plan as
    project manager to see whether you get the updated value. Thanks a lot!

  • Updating custom fields in project server 2010/2013 using psi

    Hi,
    I have two custom fields . Lets call them A and B.
    A has some content. Now i want B to have the same content as A . B is a formula custom field wher b=[A] .
    now b is empty data and A has data.
    how do i get column in B be populated.
    i tried manual publish. IT worked but i have several projects.so iam looking for a script to do bulk publish so that data in B can be populated with data in A
    a) i checked out project (CheckOutProject)
    b) published project (QueuePublish())
    c) checked in project (QueueCheckInProject())
    however i donot get the value of A reflected in B using. Am i doing something wrong?
    Pls help.Any pointers towards a script would behighly appreciated.
    i am using project server 2010
    Thanks
    Su

    Hello,
    You probably want to use Project Pro to do the publish so the calculation happens and updates field B. For bulk publish using project pro use VBA to automate project pro to open each project then do save and publish etc.

  • How To: Use Visual Studio, IIS Express, and Adobe Edge Inspect to view local projects

    You CAN view a Visual Studio project with Adobe Inspect. The work around takes a little bit of time.
    This involves using IIS Express to run your Visual Studio project, which is mainly a setting in Visual Studio, a Firewall change, a few command line and IIS Express config change.  It isn't actually all that bad, but will make your life A LOT easier.
    Here are the steps. (Note these are steps I used for Visual Studio 2012 and your project is part of a solution project.  Windows 7 or Windows 8)
    1. If IIS in not turned on, turn it on.How to: Enable Internet Information Services (IIS) - this should install IIS Express as well.
    2. In Visual Studio, find the port that Visual Studio will be using for your project by Running your web project (Debug), and note/write down/save the port number that shows up in the browser when the project launches. (ex.  http://localhost:12345)
    3. Add a NetShare Reservation (process for this will be different for Windows XP)
    Go to your Command Line (CMD) in Windows and in c:\Windows\system32> type in
    netsh http add urlacl url=http://yourIPaddress:yourPortNumber user=everyone
    (ex. netsh add urlacl url=http://12.34.56.78:12345 user=everyone)
    Hit Enter key. You should be a successful add reservation message
    3. Go to your Windows Explorer (File system) and go to c:/Users/YourName/MyDocuments (or Documents)/IISExpress/config/ and open 'applicationhost.config'
    In the 'applicationhost.config' file find your site in the <sites> section.
    Example:
    <sites>
    <site name="WebSite1" id="1" serverAutoStart="true">
                    <application path="/">
                        <virtualDirectory path="/" physicalPath="C:\MyProjects\TestSite" />
                    </application>
                    <bindings>
                        <binding protocol="http" bindingInformation=":12345:localhost" />
                    </bindings>
                </site>
    </sites>
    In this section ADD 2 new lines to the <bindings> section. Note add your own IP address and your own Computer Name
    <binding protocol="http" bindingInformation="*:12345:12.34.56.78" />
    <binding protocol="http" bindingInformation=":12345:MyComputerName" />
    Save the config file.
    4. Open up your Windows Firewall and go to 'Advanced Settings'. Here you want to create an Inbound Rule.
    Right click on Inbound Rule and select New Rule
    - Rule Type select 'Custom'
    - Program leave this
    - Protocol and Ports > Protocol Type select 'TCP' then Local Port select 'Specific Port' and fill in the port number you got from VS.  Leave Remote Port alone.
    - Scope
    There are a few ways of doing this. Typically you would go the the Remote IP address and select 'These IP addresses: and select ADD > select 'Predefined set of computers' and choose Local Subnet.  IF this does not work leave Remote IP addresses > Any IP address option selected instead.
    - Action leave this
    - Profile select Domain and Private
    - Name put IISExpressWeb for the name
    Select 'Finish'
    5. Go to Visual Studio. (Note if you have multiple projects in your solution, choose your start up project. Right click on your project in Solution Explorer in VS and select 'Set as Start Up Project' )
    Right click on your start up project again and you should see an option to 'Use IISExpress'
    In the DEBUG dropdown (from the main menu bar at the top) select 'YourProjectName Properties'. Mine was the last one in the list with a wrench icon next to it.
    This should open an new tab in your project, You should see a left hand list of option and a right hand column of options.
    In the left column select 'Web' and in this tab select Use Local IIS Web server and select 'Use IIS Express' and type in your IP Address and port number (same as before) in the Project Url text box.
    Save.
    NOW, you should be able to run your project in Visual Studio and use Adobe Edge Inspect on your device and view new results in Chrome. You can develop from there.
    If you still can not see it working, please be sure your device is on the same SubNet or Wireless network as your computer.  If you are in a large network but the domains can still see each other, the Firewall Setting detailed above to allow Any IP Address in your Scope section.

  • Validation of Enterprise Customer Fields in Project Creation Page

    I want to do the validation on the Enterprise Custom Fields of PWA site for Project center. A set of custom fields have been added on the Project Creation Page.
    Custom Business Validation (such as a field value should be unique or based on another field) is required for some custom fields. This validation is required on clicking Save button in Project Creation Page of Ms Project Server 2010. The validation ought

  • Missing values of Enterprise Custom Field in Project Professional and Project Web Access

    Hi all,
    In Project Server 2010 SP2 we created a custom field called Iteration Path (without a lookup table).
    We're in an environment where Project Server task data gets synched from TFS and we've mapped the Iteration Path from TFS to the Enterprise Custom Field in Project Server.
    We've triggered synch of all synchronized work items from TFS to Project Server
    Then, in the database we can see the Iteration Path values coming across
    When I open these projects in Project Profssional, the entire column of Iteration Path is empty.
    When I open these projects in Project Web App (from Project Center), the entire column of Iteration Path is empty.
    When I open the master project which contains all these projects, no values are shown.
    Any ideas what can be wrong?
    I did already clear my cache, global.mpt, but nothing changed. We don't have this issue with other Enterprise Custom Fields that are mapped to TFS fields.
    Cheers,
    Bram
    www.projectexpert.nu

    Hi Bram,
    In the 4th item, when you say "database", which one are you talking about? Project Server DB? Draft or reporting DB?
    If the value are not showing up in Project Pro, it is no need to clean your cache, since the value are obviously not stored in the Project Server Draft DB. The issue is more likely to come from the TFS sync for this particular field. Do you have any logs
    for the sync process? If your field in anyway different from the others, containing specific characters?
    Hope this helps.

  • Custom Column for Project Code Number & Search Box to search Content in Project Server 2013

    Hi all,
    I want to add a custom column in Project Center view for showing some Numerical Projects codes like 4523, 5248,8956 like that... Each code will represent Project assigned with that code in Project Server 2013. Also let me now if i can add some search box
    in Project Center page through which i can search Project Code or Project Name. Currently, provided search bar not working in Project Server 2013.
    Need it urgent..Kindly help

    Hi,
    If you want to add this column in a project center view, be careful to choose a project view in the "manage views" views' list. Also it must be a project custom field and not a task field. As Paul said, we assume that the field with the code exists
    and has been previousky created by you.
    Hope this helps,

  • Forwarding to Budget Line details in Oracle Project from Custom Page

    Hi,
    Actually we have a custom page which lists all the projects, our idea is to navigate the user from project line to the Oracle Project's Budget Line Details Page to show project header information and budget line details. I cannot directly forward to the page because its different application, so do we need to extend the custom application to oracle projects. Can anyone suggest me best way to follow so that we an set required session variable and initialise view object which required for Budget line details page.
    The Url which we trying to forward is OA.jsp?page=/oracle/apps/pa/finplan/webui/FpEditPlanPG
    Thanks

    AJ,
    Thanks for your super fast response.
    I don't want to dynamically display the attribute.
    As we can see there are existing attributes in the shuttle list , so we can shuttle whichever attribute we want to display.
    I need to add my attribute to this list and I am not getting idea as to how and which VO i need to substitute to get the attirbute in this list, once I can get this attribute I hope it'll be displayed in the search page once we shuttle this attribute to the display list. Let me know if i am wrong.
    Also, I tried to find the VO behind both the pages, for CustomJRADViewUpdatePG.xml there are no VOs to check for and only in MyProjectsPG , I found out ProjectListGenVO, so is this the one i need to substitute with?
    Thanks,
    Affy

  • Project site security best practise - project server 2010

    I have following requirement
    environment:
    project server 2010
    project sites created out of project site templates. So they follow project server security model.
    requirement:
    the are users who do not needs to see any thing except the content on project site.  The user does not need to access project \pwa
    Question:
    what is the best approach
    create sharepoint based  groups for the projectsite?
    Create project server based group?

    pgshah570,
    If you are using the automatic synchronization for project site permissions, then the permissions are granted based on the following rules:
    Project managers who have published a project or who have Save Project permissions on a project are added to the Project Managers (Microsoft Project Server) site group.
    Team members with assignments in a project are added to the Team members (Microsoft Project Server) site group.
    Other Project Server users who have View Project Site permission on a project are added to the Readers (Microsoft Project Server) site group.
    If you are NOT using the automatic synchronization, then project sites are like any other SharePoint Sites, and you can use SharePoint groups or AD groups. I recommend using AD groups to grant permissions. The Project Server Security groups in this scenario
    do not have any impact on Project Site permissions.

    Dear Gurus
    According to you is there a workaround to display in initial view ALL projects ?
    I know that the initial view can be related:
    projects ( but I display only projects in which I am a responsible,
    last used projects and so on..
    is there a possibility to view all projects ?
    is it possibile to create a custom solution?
    according to you , is it possibile to think this?
    Thanks in advance

    Hi Vanessa,
    You can influence the dashboard content thanks to Business ADd-In: DPR_EVE_DASHBOARD
    In method: CHANGE_ATTRIBUTES, you can add all your projects with a custom code inside.

  • Timeline View for Project 2007

    Hi,
    I just want to ask if there is a timeline view in Project 2007? I've seen that there for Project 2010... but I'm stuck with 2007 here...
    I was wondering if there isn't any, is there a way to display a High Level view with only few details so that it wouldn't look too cluttered when presenting.
    Thank you!

    Hi,
    The timeline view introduced in Project 2010. So it's not available in 2007.
    If you are looking for high level view with only few details then applying filter to show summary tasks will help you.
    There is also a report by name "Top Level" tasks which displays Summary Tasks details.  You can change the content (using tables and task filters), time period (or unit), and details (including notes and objects), and you can sort the data in this report.
    You can access it from Report menu >> Overview reports.
    Thank you,
    Kiran K.

  • Custome Fields in project

    Hi,
    In our Project Server config 2003 . We are using MSP_TEXT_FIELDS with TEXT_FIELD_ID = '188744741' to capture project ID. Ideally this table should have single entry for each project. For couple of projects the entry is more than one.
    I understand that this is because of Custom Field in Project , but I am unable to find out those field as this is not required.
    Can anyone help with database query to fetch custom fields.
    Thanks in advance.

    Please check the your custom fields are added in Coding Block or not. Then these field must appear in the Addition Assignment section of the field status group.
