Moving Project from one to other Library

Hello,
I intend to split my Aperture Library.
After splitting how can I move some projects after that to the new one ?
Are than any related informations lost ?
Thanks for help
benrhard66

Of course you can use file->export project then file->import project but...
Just a question on why you are considering "splitting your library". In many cases this is not the best solution for what people are trying to accomplish. If what you are trying to do is reduce the size it may be best for you to relocate some of your master images to another drive and/or get rid of previews you do not need. If you do that you don't have to even have the other drive/drives connected and you still have a lot of the conveniences / power of one unified library. You can relocate using any criteria you wish - date/rating/keywords etc.
Just a thought.

  • Moving project from one VSO to another VSO and transferring ownership

    Hello,
I want to understand if we can move a project from VSO owned by one company to VSO owned by other company.
also is there any risk of moving and any data would be lost?
Is there any procedure that i need to follow and take care
    Kindly assit.
    Regards
    Abhijeet

    Hi Abhijeet,
If you want to move team project from one VSO account to another VSO account, then you can use the tools that Vishal mentioned above. If you want to move Visual Studio projects under team projects to another VSO account, then you can unbind Visual Studio
to source control and add to team project in another VSO account.
For changing the VSO account ownership, you can check this
    page for more details.

  • Trouble moving projects from one computer to another

In the prospect of clearing up space, I am moving projects from my hard drive to an external.  In order to make sure things are moving properly I open up a project from the external onto another computer, different from the one I moved the projects off of.  When I open up the project, part of the original footage (.MTS file) does not show up in the timeline.  The blue rectangle that represents the footage is striped.  When I open up the exact same project onto the original computer from the external everything is fine.
Also, when I was opening up a project from the external to the other computer the "Locate Media" pop up appears wanting me to link all the media, but all the media has been checked off, as if all the media has already been found.  Why does it do this?
    Thanks,
    Josh

    Hi Josh,
Check this out: Moving projects to another computer: http://help.adobe.com/en_US/premierepro/cs/using/WS1BF3BAAB-A930-44e3-8DFA-50D5C58A1A1Aa.h tml#WS3D22F379-B6C7-4d8c-9548-26AA3E1EA74F
Likely you have some of the MTS file structure missing. The best way to move projects, IMHO, is to use the Project Manager.

  • Moving Project from one solman to another

    Hi Friends
Can anyone help me in moving the project prepared in one solution manager to different solution manager.
We have got solution manager and is productive and another is training and we are going to upgrade our productive solution manager 4.0 to 7.0 but before that we need to move the project into training solman.
can any one suggest me what could be the procedure.
    Waiting for your precious response
    Thanks and Regards

    Hello,
There is an option of project transport.........in solman.....so u can create a transport request for the project you had created..........and then import this transport request into the solman system u want to.....
If both your solmans are not linked thru the TMS,then u got to manually copy the Data and CO-files...just consult basis guys for this........
U find the option of transport project in tcode SOLAR_PROJECT_ADMIN... There is an icon just below on the left......u should use that to transport the project....basically u will be prompted for the transport request...this transport has to be imported into the solman system u want.....
    Inspire ppl by rewarding.........

  • Moving project from one Mac to another

    Hi,
Sorry if this question has been asked before.
I have a project on my MBA. All masters of this project is on an external HDD.
I want to move this project to my iMac. I still want to retain the masters on the HDD.
What's the best way to do it?
    Thanks in advance.
    -Kailas

    Well, this _should_ work.
"File→Export Project as Library".  Do NOT consolidate Masters.
    "File→Import Project/Library".
When your external drive is mounted on the second computer, Aperture should automatically connect the Images in the Project you copied to their correct Masters.
Frank will send peckish pythons my way if this is not correct.

  • Moving Projects from One Computer to Another

Is there a good way to do this?
To be clear I mean the project, not a completed video

To edit a project on another computer, you will need both the Project file and any event files that it references.
You will need an external drive formatted Mac OS Extended (journaled) - not FAT32.
Firewire and USB will both work fine for this.
In iMovie, click VIEW/Group Events By Disk.
Now you should see your external drive at the bottom of the Project Library List view. Hold down the Command Key while dragging the small icon for your project to the small icon for the external drive.
Now, with the Project still selected, click FILE/CONSOLIDATE Media... and you can move over the Events, Music, and Photos for the project to the external drive as well.
Plug this drive in to the other Mac and you are ready to edit.

  • Problem Moving Project from One Machine to Another

    Hi.
I teach in the school of communication at a university. Tonight, I tried to share a FCP project with my students in a lab setting. I wanted them to continue to edit what I had started.
I gave each of them the FCP project folder on a thumb drive. They downloaded the folder to their desktop.
When they launched the project they got the "Media Offline" window. There is only one file, a WAV file, in the project, so it was easy to find and reconnect.
The problem was that each of them got an error message about the "Media Start and End."
I had cut the single WAV file into a much shorter edit, and all those edits went all screwy, I believe due to this error. For instance, the WAV file is an interview, and I'd cut out the interviewer's questions, leaving only the subject's replies. But when my students opened the project, the edits I'd made included the interviewer's questions, left out some of the subject's answers, etc.
I'd really appreciate any input on what I need to do in order for a project to open on a student's computer exactly as I have saved it on my computer(s).
    Thanks very much.

Go back to your original project file. Give the original media a *Reel Name*.
Use Media Manager (in the File menu bar item) to consolidate a linked copy of the media and its project file to a folder of your choosing.
Detailed information on using Media Manager can be found in the FCP User Manual.

  • Moving images from one library to another; or how to have 2 libraries open at the same time in Aperture 2

This may be something easy but for some reason I am having a hard time figuring this out. Basically this is the situation: I have a library on my MBP hd that I import pictures to when I am not hooked up to my external hd for the time being. The main library is of course on the external 2tb drive. How do I have 2 libraries open so that I can essentially drag and drop the pictures from one library to another? It would basically be like moving files from one project to another. Thanks for any help!

Always keep a backup of your original images, before you delete them. I make a backup right form the card, before I even import them to Aperture.
How are your images stored right now? Are the referenced or managed? On your big volume I'd consolidate the newly imported images, to be sure they are really inside the Aperture library before I delete any images outside the library.
but they have the little yellow triangle caution symbol on them and I can see them but not really edit them
That is a very typical problem, when you imported your images as referenced images then somehow delete or move the original master image files, that are stored outside the Aperture library.
Do you still have the original masters of the images with the yellow triangle that you cannot edit? In Aperture 3 you can point Aperture to the location of the master image file "File >Locate referenced image" - probably Aperture 2 has a similar command to let you reconnect your masters, if you still have them. Look into the manual.

  • I have an extensive aperture library on my computer's hard drive and I want to break it up into separate smaller libraries on external hard drives.  How do I take projects from one library and add them to another one?

    Coastal,
Frank gave you the exact answer to your question.
However, I would like to ask if you are indeed asking the right question.  Do you really want different libraries?  The implications are that you have to "switch" libraries to see what's in the others, and so that your searches don't work across all of your pictures?  If so, then you asked the right question.  If not, you may be more interested in relocating your masters to multiple hard drives so your library gets smaller, instead of breaking up the library.

  • Moving Events and Projects from one location to another on the same hard drive.

    Hello.
I've searched in the FCP X User Manual, on this forum and in Google, but have found no explanation of how to do this, so I'm posting this here in hopes that someone in our community will be able to help.
I've previously stored my FCP X Events and Projects folders on an external 3TB hard drive, because there is more room on it than on the internal 1TB hard drive, but, since then, I've worked with other media apps, for video, photography and audio, the files for which are also stored on the external hard drive, and this has created a bit of clutter with no folder structure to keep it tidy.
I like an organised file structure on my system, to keep it uncluttered, easy to navigate and efficient to use, so I put all the files for my photography, video and audio apps into their own folders, which are, in turn, stored in their appropriate folders for Audio, Photography and Video, and those three folders are stored in a folder called Media, and then I directed each app to its own files.
The only app with which this has been a problem is FCP X. While there is a way of relocating projects and events from within FCP X, it allows the user to move them from one hard drive to another, and not, as I want, from one place to another on the same hard drive.
I'm not sure if it matters, but perhaps it's relevant to mention before the next paragraph that the files that had previously been imported as events are, to save hard-drive space, stored in the events folder as shortcuts to the original files, which are stored elsewhere on the drive, rather than as duplicates of those files.
In Finder, I copied the Events and Projects folders to their intended new locations and tried in the app to link the events and projects to their new Finder location. It seemed to have worked, until I moved the original folders to the Trash. On re-opening FCP X, it was clear that the linking hadn't worked. I returned the original folders from the Trash to their original location, but that didn't entirely reverse the problem. I noticed also that, in the original and duplicated Events folders, the shortcuts had lost their links to the original files stored elswehere on the drive.
Fortunately I had run a backup before starting, so I restored the original folders and the app from the backup, and all was back to normal.
I'd be grateful if anyone could advise me on whether or not it's possible to move FCP X events and projects from one place to another on the same hard drive with the app's compliance.
    Thank you.

How do I move a project from one library to a different existing library in Aperture 3.2.3?

Export as a Library, then import into the second (already existing) Library.
    From the User Manual:
In the Library inspector, select the items you want to transfer, then choose File > Export > Items as New Library.

  • Moved iMovie 09 project from one computer to another - now timing is wrong!

    Hello,
I wanted to copy some Events and Projects from my Dad's older MacBook Pro to my iMac. So I just copied the event folders (from <Home Directory>/Movies/iMovie Events/) and the project files (from <Home Directory>/Movies/iMovie Projects/) to the corresponding folders on my iMac.
I then opened up iMovie on my iMac and saw that the Events and Projects were there. So far, so good.
The first problem I noticed was when I exported one of the projects from my iMac using QuickTime. The duration of the resulting .MOV file was about 30 seconds shorter than the duration of the project!
I watched the Project in iMovie, and found that the clips in the Project were 'cut off'. For example, the clip in the Project would say it was 10 seconds long, but when you played the Project the clip was only 7 seconds long.
How could this be? Is the speed of the Project somehow tied to the computer that created the project? i.e. perhaps the speed of the processor could impact this? I highly doubt it, as it would make it impossible to move projects from one computer to another.
Bottom line - the identical Project file on my iMac (with the same underlying events) will produce a different exported movie file than the exact same Project file on my Dad's laptop. Specifically, my version will be shorter and the clips will be cut off.
Any ideas would be greatly appreciated....

The macrumours link just telss you how to move the events which is relatively straightforward.
Alot of advice just seems to rest with leave the projects on your internal drive as they don't take up much space.
However, http://karsten.schluter.googlepages.com/im08tricks has a description of how to move the projects and then 'fool' imovie into where the projects are stored.
Not very flexible but it does allow you to 'clear' your macbook yet when you restore the sym-link file to the right place and restart imovie you can reconnect to all your old projects and events without yellow triangles of death appearing.
By the by apple needs to sort this out as archiving old projects and events together and preserve the editing is a really basic requirment I think.
PS anyone found out how to merge projects yet? Another basic function that seems to be lacking.

  • What is the easiest way to transfer a large imovie project from one computer to another in a different location.

What is the easiest way to transfer an faairly large HD imovie project from one computer to another in a different location. Can you export to drop box? Will the other computer need the exact imovie version?

    OK it depends.
If you have a finished movie, you can SHARE/EXPORT MOVIE and create your final movie. Then, depending on the size of the finished movie, you can transfer via dropbox or similar service. Ninety minutes is a very long movie for iMovie, but it may work for you. I would suggest 720P to keep the size down.
If you need to transfer the entire iMovie Project so it can be edited in iMovie at the other end, then you need to transfer the project and event assets to an external hard drive and get the hard drive to the other location.
Directions are here. Follow the directions for 1) Moving or copying Project to external drive. Then 2) Consolidate Media.
