Moving purchased music from one account to another account

So I just purchased my first macbook. I am trying to figure out my next step in transfering my music. I am not worried about most of the music I want to transfer, as I can easily move it via thumb drive. My question pertains the purchased music specifically. I do not want to keep the same itunes account id as when I purchased the songs initially. (I was 15, long time ago. I would like to start fresh.) There aren't many songs that I purchased, and I probably won't want all moved, but I do not want to repurchase the songs again.
Is there any way I can get those songs onto my new mac, from my old and dying dell, without having to authorize use of a computer by an old account?
Would simply transfering via thumb drive work, or is there any other way I can go about doing this without losing about 100 or so songs that I spent money on?
I really do not want to keep the old itunes account id (I don't even have access to that email anymore), and have made a new one already.
Thank you to all in advance.

Do you want duplicated copies in both accounts? (that would be a terrible waste of space). The best way to avoid that would be to move your iTunes Music folder to the Shared folder on your Mac (Users/Shared). Then change your iTunes Preferences to point iTunes at this new location.
The other account should launch iTunes, then do the same thing.
You will now have a situation where the two accounts have separate iTunes Library database files (for playlists etc), but are using the same music folder. It is likely that only the original account will have read/write privileges to the actual music however.

You can transfer iTunes purchases from the iPod to a computer by:
iTunes Store: Transferring purchases from your iPhone, iPad, or iPod to a computer
If you are in th USA and have the latest iTunes you can redownload music and some other things at no additioal cost:
Downloading past purchases from the App Store, iBookstore, and iTunes Store

    Lisa,
Just get copies of the song files and add them to your iTunes library.  With the exception of any DRM-protected files (purchased before mid-2009 and never upgraded) they will play fine, even though they are technically associated with the original account.

  • How do I transfer my music from one account to another

I'm trying to figure out how t transfer my music from one account to another since someone hacked into my girlfriends account and now iTunes locked her account as a one account use only and majority of my music was bought with my card. Is there any way to transfer all my purchased music into my new account? I still have the music I purchased on my pc.

You can't, all content is tied to the account that purchased / downloaded it and it can't be copied or transferred to a different account.

  • Transferring music from one account to another

I wanted to know if there is any way I can transfer music from one account to another account, my music library has over 1000 songs and i do not want to download them again, is there a way? THANKS!

Below is the information on how to take the music and transfer it to another machine that will be using the same apple ID.
But as stated earlier there is no way to transfer music to a brand new Apple ID without having to purchase it again as all music is tied into the Apple ID used at time of purchase.

  • How to transfer music from one account to another through an iphone?

Recently, I was able to get a brand new laptop. I was excited to finally be able to purchase my own music from my own iTunes account, but over the past few years, I'd been buying songs off of my family's shared iTunes account. How can I transfer the songs I purchased from there onto my new iTunes library with my individual account?

I'm afraid you cannot transfer purchased items from one account to another: this is a limitation imposed by the copyright owners. However recent purchases from the iTunes Store are not DRM-protected so you may be able to play them anyway if you manually copy them across. You will need to drag the out of the original iTunes to a folder on the desktop, and then transfer that to your new Mac and drag them into iTunes there. Try it with a few there and see if it works.
Should you have any movies, though, these cannot  be transferred.

  • I bought a new laptop and used Windows Easy Transfer cable and moved all files from one computer to another. I installed iTunes and found my iTunes music Library.  However, when I plug in my iPod it says it is already synced with another iTunes Library.

I don't see anything in Help that shows when you already have transfered all the files over.  Why would it want to erase and sync when I already have all the music folder copied over?  I didn't have an issue when I had another technician copy from one laptop to another.  Home sharing is also on but not being recognized.

I suspect you only migrated the media folder instead of the complete working library. Either review the transfer process and copy over the entire iTunes folder from your old profile's music folder or see Recovering your iTunes library from your iPod or iOS device.

Not mentioned is signing up for the iTunes Match service ($25/year), which matches or uploads your iTunes music library to iCloud, making your songs accessible from your computers and supported iOS devices, through the Internet.  An extra benefit is that any "matched" song in your library that is lower sound quality, can be replaced by a higher quality 256 kbps ("iTunes Plus") version.  You can keep them, even if you decide to cancel iTunes Match after the first year.
iPods (that are not iPod touch) are synced to your iTunes library.  So, after you move your iTunes library to the new computer, sync the shuffle to that iTunes library.
