Moving repository objects from XI 3.0 to NEW PI 7.1 installation

When trying to import "old" tpz files from XI 3.0 to a new PI 7.1 installation it fails. I know that you can upgrade an existing 3.0 to PI 7.1, but is there any way to "just" convert the repository tpz files from 3.0 to 7.1 format
Per Arne

Per-Arne
Are you sure the extport went well. We did a migration from 3.0 to 7.0 and then 7.1 and all the Objects were correctly imported.
Is the SLD and the ID also configured correctly ??

  • Checks to be done before moving the objects from DEvV to PROD systems

    Hi,
Please provide the standard methods and checks to be done in the transport requests before moving the objects from DEv to PROD.
    Please help us here.

In se10 find your request and
Upper left corner - Request\task -> Complete check -> Object (syntax check) and Check Request Consistency.
This you can do for your request and all the tasks included in your request.
Note: Transport may still fail due to numerous reason (i.e) not all the objects needed are collected in the request,
but at atleast it gives some assurance that objects are not blocked in other requests etc...

  • Moving an object from $tmp

    Hi Experts,
Suppose i saved an object by mistake in $tmp. How to move this object to quality.
    plz give solution for this

    Hi Lokesh,
Well everybody said the right thing i.e. if you want to transport any object from $tmp, you have to go to se38 and than-
    1.Click on Goto->Object Directory Entry.
2.Click on change i.e. pencil icon and then,
3.Give your package name in the package option.
4.After that you are provided one transport request by the system.
    5.Click on continue.
Through this way you can make the object transportable.
But may be sometimes you want one object only local i.e. not to transport($tmp),and mistakenly you make that object transportable. So in order to make it again local, you have to do following things:
    1.Go to se09 or se10.
2.Display all the transport request made by you.
3.Now find your transport request in all these.
4.After that you find your program name in them.
    5.Now delete that program.
6.After that you go to se38 and do the same procedure as do in your solution i.e. moving a object from $tmp.
7.Give your package name here as $tmp.
Through this way you can again make a object local.
If you don't follow the steps 1-5 than you are not able to make a object loacl again, because the object is locked by the transport request.
    Regards.

  • Moving field object from one section to another programatically

How do I move text/field objects from one section to another at run time. The ReportObjects collection in the section is readonly and setting the left, top property of the ReportObject only seems to move object within the same section.
I'm using Crystal Reports version 10.5 that comes with VS 2008 professional.

    Hi;
The trial version will offer this capability. You can either use RAS (which is available with Crystal Reports, or Business Objects Enterprise), or the Crystal Reports engine. Which you use will depend on the target for your application, see this for some tips on that:

  • Oracle TNS 12535 error after moving repository DB from Win NT to Win 2K

    Business Objects 5.1
We have recently moved an Oracle database from Windows NT to Windows 2000. One particular user keeps on getting ORA-12535: TNS: operation timed out.
    What could be causing this?
The user can run SQL*Plus and connect to the database without any problems.
The user gets this error when running BO itself. When running our Application or any other Oracle tool or utility (TOAD, SQL*Plus), etc, then all works fine.
From my own PC I can use the 'problem' users BO login to connect to the repository.
So the nature of the problem suggests a network or configuration issue of some kind. We have limited BO expertise at this site.
    Please can someone advise?
    regards,
    MK

    Hi Mo,
If the previous solution provided doesnu2019t works then check the following things:
    1. Check the ORACLE_HOME value in the Registry and ensure that your PC has only one "ociw32.dll" file.
    2. Confirm that the PATH environment variable definition's first Oracle /bin folder path points to the middleware
installation you intend Supervisor to use.
    3. Add the repository database server's IP address to the local HOSTS file.
    4. Confirm the repository database's entry in the Oracle TNSNames.ora file.

  • Moving my library from a PC to my new iMac!

Please can anyone help - I've been using iTunes on my dell laptop for a year and have just taken delivery of my gorgeous new intel iMac!!
I want to move my library from the laptop to the iMac, is this possible????

I just got a shiny new Mac, and don't want to lose my music library!
No need! iTunes for Windows is almost exactly identical to iTunes for Mac, and switching over is actually very easy.
First thing you're going to have to do is figure out a data route. Although you can technically use CDs or DVDs, in order to best transfer all data, including playlists and ratings, you'll want another method.
If you have a network set up, you're good to go.
An external hard drive will work as well, just remember that Windows won't read a Mac formatted disk. The iPod is also an external hard drive, and can be used in the same way.
    <hr>
Once you have the method set up, you're going to have to prepare iTunes.
Open iTunes for Windows, and hit Edit>Preferences>Advanced, and make sure that the folder listed is \My Documents\My Music\iTunes\iTunes Music.
Next, hit Consolidate Music Library. This action is irreversible, and it will make sure that all of your music is put in the aforementioned 'iTunes Music' folder. Shut iTunes, and move on.
Now you're going to have to move the info to the Mac. If you have an external hard drive, drag the iTunes folder, located within My Documents\My Music onto it. If you have a network set up, copy the iTunes folder to a location that can be accessed by the Mac.
Now, on the Mac, open either the external HDD, or the network folder, and copy the folder iTunes to the Home/Music folder.
Start up iTunes on the Mac, and everything should be in place.
    Cleaning up
If you have music purchased from the iTunes Music Store, you're going to have to authorize your Mac. If you're not going to be using your Windows machine for iTMS songs anymore, you may want to deauthorize it. Either way, this article has all of the information you need: http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=93014
If you're not going to be using the Windows machine for music, you can safely delete the music from it, as it is now on the Mac. However, unless it is actually bothering you there, there's no reason to do so. Redundancy is great for data.
    About an iPod:
First, Apple has a doc about using the iPod to switch. It has some great info about moving your documents, emails, etc. However, the method of music transfer there doesn't save most of your library data.
Second, you may want to reformat your iPod for the Mac. The advantage, basically, is some transfer speed. The disadvantage is Windows' inability to read Mac disks without 3rd party software. Either way, the doc on formatting (restoring) is here: http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=60983#One
That's it! Your music collection should be up and running in iTunes for Mac. A couple of places to check out, both showing the 'extras' of the Mac version of iTunes vs. Windows:

  • Moving iWeb site from my iBook to my new iMac

    Hi guys,
I'm having problems with moving my iWeb website to my new iMac. I have tried moving the domain file from the User>Library>Application Support>iWeb folder into the same location on my new computer and, yes, it does indeed work. However when I come to publish the site it appears that it cannot connect to MobileMe in order to upload. Am I doing something wrong? Any ideas as I really need to get my portfolio published online!
    Thanks
    Ben

Are you able to publish to a folder? If you can the problem is not with the domain file. So try the following:
1 - copy the domain file from your User/Library/Application Support/iWeb folder to the Shared folder on your Mac.
2 - Create a new account on your mac or log into another existing account.
3 - go to the System/MobileMe preference pane and log into your MMe account.
4 - move the Domain file from the Shared folder to your desktop and double click on it.
5 - try to publish from there.
Note: if you don't have permission to open that domain file you can set the permissions as follows:
download and run BatChmod on the Domaine.sites2 file with the settings shown here, putting your administrator login name in the owner section and Staff in the group section. You can either type in the path to the file or just drag the file into that field.
If you're not able to publish then the issue is with iWeb and a reinstall of iWeb is warranted. To do so you'll have to delete the current application and all files with "iWeb" in the file name that reside in the HD/Library/Receipts folder.
If you're able to publish from the other account then your primary account is suspect. It could be a preference file other than iWeb's. Here's how to determine if that's the case.
    Trouble Shooting Preferences in Leopard
1 - Create a folder titled "Preferences A" on the Desktop.
2 - Open the working Preferences folder, HD/Users/your_name/Library/Preferences, and move the contents to the Preferences A folder on the Desktop.
3 - Make a duplicate copy of the Preferences A folder on the Desktop as a precautionary backup.
4 - With the working Preferences folder empty run the application again and determine if the problems is fixed.
NOTE: you may have to drag the contents of the working folder to the trash and empty if moving the contents to the A folder only copies them instead of moving.
5 - If the problem is fixed:
A - open the working Preferences folder (HD/Users/your_name/Library/Preferences).
B - Open the Preferences A folder on the Desktop, select all of the contents and drag them into the working Preferences folder.
C - When the Copy window pops up check the "Apply to All" check box and then click on the Don't Replace button as seen here.
6 - If the problem is NOT fixed, empty the working Preferencess folder and move the contents of the Preferences folder on the desktop back into it.

  • Moving itunes library from old hard drive to new laptop

I need to move my itunes library from my old hard drive from my now defunct laptop to my new one
Can someone please advise how to go about this so I avoid making mistakes that I have with iphoto etc when doing the same
    Many thanks

Thank Chris I have just done that. How do I now get them in to Itunes ?
If you simply copy the iTUnes folder to /Music/ and launch iTUnes, everythign will be there. No need to import anything.
This will work the same with iPhoto.
Simply copy the Photo library to /Pictures/ folder and launch iPhoto.

  • Moving a catalog from old computer to the new one.

The old computer (32 bit) has PSE 9 and the new one (64 bit) PSE 11. The Folders holding the photos will be on a data drive having the same letter as the old computer (both have separate dirves for data). So the adresses of the phots will be the same.
How do I move the catalog, which I think is on the "C" drive in the old computer, to the new computer and convert it to PSE format. Could I move a backup of the catalog to the new computer and then restore it to PSE 11? One problem is that I am not sure which one of the several "catalogs" on the old "C" drive is the right one. [None of those are backups since I always stored the backups on another drive]. How do I tell?
    Any help will be appreciated.

Good. PSE11 is a 32 bits application and will be installed as such in the new computer.

If the data drives on both computers are internal (not a unique external drive alternatively plugged in) you are wrong. The drives are recognized not only by letter drive but also by serial number.

Since you have the backups on another drive (I suppose they were made from the Organizer, not from another external software), you should simply do a restore to 'custom location' in the new computer. In a first step, that will restore the pictures folder tree, in a second one it will convert the catalog.
If you want to move the catalog, it will be harder:
    - locate the folder with your catalog. Each catalog is in its own folder named from the catalog title. You should copy the whole folder with its files and subfolders to the new catalog, preferably in a different folder tree than your pictures folder tree.
    - In the Organizer, you should convert it from the catalog manager
Now, how to resolve the problem of the data drive different serial numbers ? Three different ways :
1 - Use the 'reconnect missing files' feature. Its now easier with PSE11
2 - In Windows, reassign the same serial number to the drive. Some reading from John R Ellis :
3 - use a sqlite database tool to manually change the serial number in the media_table of the new catalog.
You can see why using the backup / restore process is much simpler and safer.

  • ITunes 10. Moved m4a files from ext harddrive to my new laptop

I had an older laptop with an external harddrive storing my music. That laptop since died and was repalced with a new one. looks like the files are m4a files on the harddrive. The iTunes 10 looks like it processes the files when I add that folder to the libary but I never see any music. The m4a files can not be played in windows media player or any other player I have downloaded. I did some research and it says the m4a files are unprotected. Many are just loads from my CDs (over 25,000 songs plus) a few was purchased from iTunes. I had several iTunes accounts for the home. One for movies, the parents and the kids. If these was created by various other accounts will that affect the ability to play? I don't see how as they all played on the older laptop. Music was also shared with a desktop and a Crestron media server. Thanks for any insite on this.

Assuming that you're using the same iTunes version on both and there is no music on your new laptop:
On your iBook just replace the folder "iTunes" and all its content in your user/Music directory with a copy of "iTunes" (all subfolder included) of your eMac.
