Moving slideshows

Two questions for you guys.
1) When I created a slideshow DVD in IDVD and then played it on my DVD player and TV the colours were all washed out. Am I missing something? Are the slideshow DVDs created on Mac incompatible with TV playback, or is my TV just rubbish? The colours seem fine when I'm playing terrestrial TV.
2) When creating a slideshow in IDVD, can I make the pictures move around the screen, or have the image open on a small part of the photo before zooming out? My pics at the moment are very static otherwise.

Alan:
Welcome to the Apple Discussions. It can be done but will take some renaming and the music will not go over with it. You'll need the same tracks on the other Mac and assign them on it.
1 - move the images into an album and arrange in the order you want.
2 - batch, sequentially rename the files so that they are titled: XXXX-1, XXXX-1, etc.
3 - manually add a zero before the 1-9 numbers so they read 01 thru 09. (If you have more than 99 then you'll have to export them to the desktop using the use album name option and then reimport and use for the slideshow)
4 - make sure the slideshow is running as desired.
5 - select the album and slideshow and go to the Share->Burn menu option.
This will burn an iPhoto formatted disk that can be accessed via iPhoto on the other Mac.
6 - on the other Mac mount the disk and launch iPhoto:
7 - the disk will show up directly under the Library icon in the Source pane like this.
8 - expand the disk image and drag the album and slideshow icons into the Source pane.
That's it. You'll have to reassign music to the slideshow.

  • Moving slideshow with 100 plus images from iPhoto to iDVD

When creating a slideshow in iDVD you have a default limit of 99 images. This becomes a problem when trying to create a large slideshow with no interuptions. My partner and I almost figured out a way around that. We created the slideshow in iPhoto rather than iDVD and then went to the "Share" menu and selected "Send to iDVD" and it sent the slide show over to iDVD exactly how it was created in iPhoto. The problem is we want to make sure that all transitions from slide to slide and the music are smooth.
    Please comment on this topic.
Also in iPhoto there is a default movement (simular to Ken Burns effect) that we can't figure out how to turn off. There is an option to turn on Ken Burns effect but not to turn off all image movement during show.Note: these movements are differnt than Transitions. Let us know your thoughts.
    Thanks

Instead of using iPhoto, how about using iMovie? Simply drag the photos from your desktop folder (if that's where the originals are located) directly into the clip pane of iMovie. Once the photos are in the clip pane, drag them into the time-line, then you can adjust the duration of each slide, add transitions and add music. This is the way I've always made slide shows and I have had excellent results. In iMovie, you can also easily adjust where the music aligns with the slides and overlap one song to the next. Also, if you drag the photos into iMovie directly (rather than using iPhoto), the Ken Burns effect will not be activated, which I think it is automatically if you import photos from iPhoto. But if you want the KB effect, I think you need to import the photo from iPhoto.

  • Moving slideshow from Iphoto '11 to disc

I know how to send a slideshow to IDvd.  What I want to do is creat the slideshow in Iphoto '11 and then retain the music and transitions to play on a disc without having to recreate the show in IDvd. Is there any way to just burn the exact same show?

Export the slideshow out of iPhoto as a QT movie file via the Export button in the lower toolbar.  Select Size = Medium or Large.
Open iDVD, select a theme and drag the exported QT movie file into the open iDVD window being careful to avoid any drop zones.
Follow this workflow to help assure the best quality video DVD:
Once you have the project as you want it save it as a disk image via the File ➙ Save as Disk Image  menu option. This will separate the encoding process from the burn process.
To check the encoding mount the disk image, launch DVD Player and play it.  If it plays OK with DVD Player the encoding is good.
Then burn to disk with Disk Utility or Toast at the slowest speed available (2x-4x) to assure the best burn quality.  Always use top quality media:  Verbatim, Maxell or Taiyo Yuden DVD-R are the most recommended in these forums.

  • Simulation versus reality / skipping tracks / moving slideshow - help!

    Hello all,
We've just switched to dvd studio pro 3.0.2, and are struggling to achieve the same results as in our ancient version 1.5. I hope someone can help!
The dvd we want to create is one that:
    - starts playing automatically without action from viewer and without a (visible) main menu
    - contains 6 to 10 short (30 second - 1 minute) films that are played in a fixed order
This I have been able to create using separate tracks, and setting the first track as 'first play' for the dvd. However, I want the viewer to have the option to skip to the next short film.
In simulation mode, this works perfectly - selecting the forward button will take the viewer to the next short clip. However, it turns out that when I burn the dvd, there is no possibility to skip forward (or backward) between clips.
In 1.5, I used to use the slideshow option to avoid this problem. Unfortunately, slideshows in 3.0.2 can contain only still images.
I have a feeling I should be using chapters, but don't know how. Also, I don't understand why something should work in simulation mode, but not on a burned disk.
Thanks in advance for your suggestions.

Bring all the movies onto one track, place markers between them, and create a story (not needed to do so, but sometimes I find it has more control that is easier to implement). Then set the end jump of the track (with alll the clips on it) or the story (if you want to use that) to the menu

  • Moving Slideshow to iDisk OR iTunes?

I created a Slideshow in iTunes. I am now trying to either move it or export it or whatever I have to do to get that Slideshw onto my iPhone. Can't figure it out.
I exported as a .mov file, but when I try to open that I get an Error in QUicktime saying: "The document “Dragontemp.mov” could not be opened. The movie is not in a format that QuickTime Player understands."
I just upgraded to Snow Leopard & QT is supposedly the latest version.
I also tried dragging the SLideshow Folder into iTunes but that doesn't work. Likewise, cannot drag it into iDisk either.
Also tried to use SHARE as a .Mac Slides, but that is greyed out.
So now that I have this slideshow made, how can anyone see it other than coming to my place & logging onto my iMac? I'd think there would be a quick & easy way to move the iPhoto slideshow onto an iPhone?
    Thanks, and Happy Thanksgiving

I was able to use the latter method to Create a slideshow, I then was able to export it to iTUnes.
But after syncing my iPhone, the movie does not show up anywhere on my ihone. Although there is a folder for Movies on iTUnes, and that is where the slideshow was placed, on the iPhone there is NO folder for Movies. There is a Videos folder, but that is blank.
So I guess I am still left with my original question(s) - How do I get a slideshow made on iPhoto onto my iPhone?
    Maybe I can't?
I had thought MobileMe would be a good vehicle for that, but what I am finding in my trial is that MobileMe isn't very good for anything excpet looking at single, small files, or single pictures. Doesn't seem to work for albums, slideshows, etc.

  • Flash cs3 Slideshow movie

I need to recreate the opening slideshow movie that plays
    here:
    mogullife.com
I need to change the pictures and the song. but it still
needs to be a moving slideshow that doesnt stop or have thumbnails,
but the music can be turned off.
I have created exactly what I want on a keynote presentation,
but when i export it to flash, it doesnt keep the transitions. Also
each image and each transition has different timing.
Can someone please guide me in the right direction? Should I
use the slideshow presentation or action script? help me.
you can reach me on ichat or myspace.com/samanthadarling
    any input is appreciated.
    thanks

Oh I see. No, it's just short words, upper and lower case. Nothing else as you described. The text was typeset in Flash.
I did some further testing, like switching fonts (again), enlarging the text bounding box, exporting the movie without anti-alias, converting the text to a shape (break apart twice), all to no avail. Most curious.
I should add that the text displays perfect in the .fla file. Just buggers up when I export to a .swf.

  • Control the property of an object in main stage from a loaded swf timeline

please someone help me here, im loosing my mind
i have a UILoader that loads an image from an xml list when you click its thumbnail ( in its thumbnails mc on mainstage aswell)
thing is, i have another UILoader on the layer above that loads in a swf ( a slideshow that fades in and out the pictures when they change to the next,
with all the coding on frame 1, frame 2 only has a stop and some code for when the mouse is idle for 5 secs it goes back to frame 1)
so when you go to "portraits" it takes you to frame "x" where the slideshow ( loaded external swf ) starts playing automaticly right,
if i click any thumbnail the slideshow goes to frame 2 ( wich is perfect and the mouse idle thing i wanted works great ) the ONLY THING IS
after the slideshow runs by default for the first time ( i enter the category portraits )
and i click any thumbnail ( moving slideshow swf to frame 2 enabling mouse idle event )
and the mouse is idle ( so it does the event and starts playing the slideshow again ( goes back to frame 1 ) )
I CANT MAKE THE UILOADER OF THE THUMBS IMAGE TO DISSAPPEAR!!!
i have tried everything i can think of and everything i have read trying to adapt it with what i know,
im no guru at this i reeeeally need some help
THANK YOU  SO VERY MUCH !

and where would i put the remove.simpleScreen ( simpleScreen is the loader i would want to remove )
would it be on the external swf on frame 1 where the slideshow plays?
or in the main timeline's category's frame?
the problem ( that i see ) is that both loaders are on the same frame ( different layers tho )
so if i put a the remove simplescreen there it wont show me the pictures when i click the thumbs
or could i make it so that it removes it BECAUSE its playing on frame 1 ?

  • OT: DVD Slide Show - How to do still-frames?

I want to make DVDs containing my photos, so that I can inflict them on
family members and other unfortunates. I have not yet been able to discern
if any of the commercial packages allow for the creation of still-frame
shows - if that is the correct term to describe what I want.
I have commercial DVDs which, as extra content, contain documentary
collections of still images. These groups of images appear to be
single-frame images, and do not automatically advance -- they require the
user to press the Skip button to see the next image.
THAT's what I want to do... have the slideshow require a manual advance, so
that each photo could be viewed for as long (or short!) as desired, before
    moving on to the next.
Of course, I would also want to create traditional "moving" slideshows as
    well, when desired.
Can anyone advise with regard to this quest?
    TIA,
    Byron

    Byron,
To the best of my knowledge, Photoshop Elements will not allow you to create DVDs of any sort - let alone whether it is possible to manually advance your way through a collection of stills.
PSE's primary purpose is as an image editor and since version 3 as an image organiser. Sure it has a few bells and whistles that allow you to present your images in a vareity of ways, but it is not strong in this area. Maybe that is why there isn't a great response to your orginal post.
I do know that Adobe Premier Elements allows you to create DVDs and once installed, there is an option on the file menu in organiser that allows you to send images direclty to PrEl.
Once again however, I would advise caution. Premier Elements is a cut down video editing suite, so it might be overkill for your needs and have a steeep learning curve!
Many people have mentioned a product called Proshow Gold in here. I don't use it and so cannot comment personally, but plenty of people like it and if I recall correctly, you will be able to create DVDs.
    Best of luck

  • When making a slideshow in iPhoto some iTunes files can no longer be found (cannot find link). How can I relink iphoto to the moved itunes files?

    Hello everyone :-)
I am Using Iphoto 09 ver 8.1.2 & itunes ver. 10.2.2 in this situation.
I have recently moved my iphoto library & Itunes library files to a large external hard drive.
I have successfully set the computer to read / run both libraries from the hard drive & they are working well as a stand alone. ( I Have done this before)
Unforntualey this time I foolishly moved some itunes album folders around from compulations / various artists into the main media file before checking into what the ramifications would be.
After searching on here I learned that was not advised as itunes would not be able to automaticly find them since I moved them.
In itunes clicked on some of the exclamtion marks of the songs that I moved & linked them up to the main media folder so they could be now found by itunes. I believe itunes asked to look there in that location for all missing files & I selected that option.
It appears to have worked as when I click on them in itunes they now play.. yeah!
But now I am finding that when I try to add certain songs for slideshows in iphoto & imovie that those moved songs cannot be found by those programs :-(
( I assume the same would be true for iDVD)
So my questions are... Is there now a way to have those other programs find the moved songs?
I do have a older backup of my itunes media & I can try & move the album folders back to the original place they where by comparing the two but it is a very large library of 40k songs... so I thought to ask the knowledge & wisdom of the community before I attempted any further fixes.
It would take a bit of time but it could be done & I don't want to just use the older copy of my itunes as I have made many additions of albums to the library & added allot of album artwork as well. (Stuff that "itunes" & "tune up" couldn't automatically find)
Thanks in advance for any advice on this silly mistake I made.
    Sal

Try the following:  delete the iPhoto preference file, <b><i><font color="maroon">com.apple.iPhoto.plist</font></i></b>, that resides in your Home/Library/Preferences folder.
NOTE: If you're moved your library from its default location in your Home/Pictures folder you will have to point iPhoto to its new location when you next open iPhoto by holding the the Option key.  You'll also have to reset the iPhoto's various preferences.
Also delete the com.apple.iApps.plist file from the same Preferences folder.  Then launch iTunes and then iPhoto.  See if that will restore the links.

  • No audio after moving Project or Slideshow

    Hi,
After I have moved a Project/Slideshow that includes audio/music, via Vault (restore) or Export/Import from my I-Mac to MacBook Pro, audio/music is not included.
On the MacBook Pro, the restore or import works fine, but after opening the slideshow the audio/music line in green is visible but with a yellow attentionmark. To regain the music I copy it from Itunes on my Imac to my MacBook and then drag it to the restored/imported and opened slideshow.
But, isn't there an easier way that automatic moves the music as well during restore or import ?
    Cheers.

the invisible mute bug - it could not be that someone perhapsly inadvertently unnoticedly hit the M key (which is right above the "Go Logic! Stop Logic!" spacebar) before saving, not perceiving nor spotting that they had unwittingly without realizing it thus muted said region? Or, from another view, would "the invisible mutebug" disappear if the mute command was reassigned to ctrl-M?
There is also the sudden Bin-appearancebug and the uninvited metronomeclickbug, and the dissappearing plugin windows-bug.

  • The "moving around" slideshow effect

Does anyone know if it is possible to get the "moving around" slideshow effect outside iPhoto in:
    -an exported DVD/mpeg slideshow
    -slideshow effect in Aperture
The move around effect is really nice in combination w/ music, and it would have been super to pass that same feeling on when sharing an album with others through a dvd or mpeg file.
Greatful for some input in this matter!

You might take a look at PhotoPresenter. Besides the KB effect it has over 25 animated themes which are pretty spectacular. This demo page has examples of a few of them.
TIP: For insurance against the iPhoto database corruption that many users have experienced I recommend making a backup copy of the Library6.iPhoto (iPhoto.Library for iPhoto 5 and earlier) database file and keep it current. If problems crop up where iPhoto suddenly can't see any photos or thinks there are no photos in the library, replacing the working Library6.iPhoto file with the backup will often get the library back. By keeping it current I mean backup after each import and/or any serious editing or work on books, slideshows, calendars, cards, etc. That insures that if a problem pops up and you do need to replace the database file, you'll retain all those efforts. It doesn't take long to make the backup and it's good insurance.
I've created an Automator workflow application (requires Tiger or later), iPhoto dB File Backup, that will copy the selected Library6.iPhoto file from your iPhoto Library folder to the Pictures folder, replacing any previous version of it. It's compatible with iPhoto 6 and 7 libraries and Tiger and Leopard. Just put the application in the Dock and click on it whenever you want to backup the dB file. iPhoto does not have to be closed to run the application, just idle. You can download it at Toad's Cellar. Be sure to read the Read Me pdf file.
Note: There's now an Automator backup application for iPhoto 5 that will work with Tiger or Leopard.

  • Slideshow can't be moved

I am trying to move 2 slideshows into a "Folder." When I say "folder" I do not mean a desktop folder or finder folder. I mean an iPhoto folder within the application. Remember ...you can organize your photos in slideshows, calendars, rolls, album and folders.. That type of folder. My slides shows have 89 and 93 photos each. They both have music. All my other slide shows WILL move into folders. These two just can not be dragged anywhere.
    Please help

Make a copy of the slideshow, select and type Command-D, and try to move the duplicate copy. If it can be moved, delete the original and use the copies.
If that doesn't work, rebuild the library selecting only the database option.
    Do you Twango?

  • Moving and editing slideshow between MACs

I'd like to move an existing (uncompleted) slideshow from an iMac to a Mac Book Pro and complete the project on-site (a wedding reception). What is the best technique to complete this without messing with the hours of work that have gone into the project thus far??

There's only one way to do it: Move the Library that contains the slideshow.
A Slideshow is really an instruction in the iPhoto database: "Show me Photo A for 5 seconds then cross fade to Photo B over 3 seconds and show me for 5 seconds etc etc etc"
The only way to move the slideshow +in an editable form+ is to move the database - and that database is the Library.
