Moving Solution Manager content across platforms

I have a pretty good understanding of Solution Manager's capabilities but need to make a decision about the platform to install it on for our project.
We want to get something up and running quickly so we can learn from it, but this probably wont be the final platform that we use for our implementation and production running.
How difficult is it to take Solution Manager content from an installed server and move it to another one? Can this be done? Will it result in much "downtime" for our project?
What if the final platform is totally different from the initial one - say from SQL Server/Windows to Oracle/AIX - will we still be able to move developed content from old to new?

> What if the final platform is totally different from the initial one - say from SQL Server/Windows to Oracle/AIX - will we still be able to move developed content from old to new?
You can do system copies - but the "content" (means solutions, EWAs) are not that easy to transfer since they depend on the CRM structure (Businesspartners, roles of them etc.)
We are in the same situation of having an upgraded SolMan (initally started with 2.1 over 3.1/3.2 to 4.0 with Unicode conversion) with > 7.000 support desk messages which we don't want to loose. Our research to move those messages to a freshly installed SolMan turned out to be too complicated and needing too much time - thus we decided to freeze the current SolMan at some point soon and install a new one and start the implementation from scratch.
It may be possible to export/import certain configurations/settings but as far as I know there is no standard procedure for this.

  • Questions in Solution manager

    Hello friends,
Can any one answer these questions
SAP Solution Manager Overview Key points
    -       Scope of Solution Managers capabilities
    -       Work required to implement and configure Solution Manager – i.e. how much is out of box vs. customer/implementation specific?
    -       How it can be customized
    -       Reports / metrics that solution manager offers
    Thanks

    Hello,
what is Solution Manager? A platform that provides integrated content, tools and methodologies for implementing, supporting, monitoring, upgrading and operating your enterprise SAP solutions.
My recommendation would be, if you have a chance to attend any of the SAP Solution Manager Seminars www.sapsolutionmanagerseminar.com/ would be the best to do. I am just back from the Amsterdam session. I have mainly worked in SAP Solution Manager projects, but still learned a few things even in areas I have been involved in.
Can you use SAP Solution Manager out of the box without any customizing? No. You need to execute basic customizing and maintain your landsape at the minimum.
For example you have to maintain your landscape. Generate RFC connections, setup up monitoring if required. Configure EWA reports if needed. Service Desk and Change Request Management would be large configurations. There are some reports you can use.
How can it be customized? Check out in transaction SPRO to get some idea, but not everything is in there covered you still need to configure.
There is a SAP Solution Manager book published since this year.

    Markus

  • Synchronizing Solution Manager and Process Diagrams

    Dear all,
I have a question around the creation of process models in Aris (Enterprise Modeling from IDS Scheer) based on the information in Solution Manager.
Will all Z* transactions also be copied across when the Solution Manager content is copied across into Aris?
    Many thanks in advance,
    Lisa Howdle

    Hi Lisa,
when you assign your Z* transactions in a Solution Manager Project before you check the scenarios out to ARIS they will. If you just copy BPR content they wont.

  • Can iTunes share purchased content across Apple IDs within one household, OR

    QUESTION ONE
Will iTunes share purchased content using TWOApple IDs, across different devices within one household?
    QUESTION TWO
Should each device with a separate user have its own iCloud ID? CONCURRENTLY, should each device belonging to the SAME user use the SAME cloud ID?
    QUESTION THREE
I think I "can" use one Apple ID, and just usedifferent iCloud IDs for EACH device. Am I fundamentally wrong? Am I legallywrong?
    UNDERSTOOD FACTS:
    1)  Apple states, each person should have their own AppleID:  http://support.apple.com/kb/HE37
    2)  iCloud servicesare: mail, contacts, calendar etc...
    3)  iTunes servicesare: music, videos, Apps, etc...
You can sync iTunes across up to5 different computers using your Apple ID: http://support.apple.com/kb/ht1420, however there does not seem to be alimit of how many Apple devices youcan sync within using a single iTunes account (Apple ID). *NOTE: beware automaticsynchronization of new apps..
    4)  iTunesin the Cloud is a different animal altogether! This should allow sharing of all iTunes content across all “your” devices, aslong as it was purchased thru iTunes (If not, you need to shell out an additional $25/yr for iTunes Match)
SCENARIO:  I got a new iPhone, and am giving theold iPhone to my spouse. ALL iTunes content has been managed and purchased using oneApple ID that matches one iCloud ID. Ideally, just like anyother family using multiple Apple products and usingiCloud; we would like to SHARE songs & Apps, but NOT share calendars, mail etc...(sharing contacts would be nice).
    QUESTION FOUR
Under the above scenario, must I have a “.me email” account?
I have been reading threadsabout managing content across multiple devices, using different IDs, both AppleIDs and Cloud IDs, and there is a LOT of confusion. I'm visual, so I've attached the graphic illustrating how I "think" I should proceed.  **I have not set up the new iPhone yet.
We do not have a Mac or a".me email" account, and we use Gmail.
    Any help is appreciated!

I have the computer authorized to use the Apple ID content (been using iTunes since 2007).
My issue is I cannot create sperate iCloud IDs for each device. I get prompted/directed to create a new Apple ID, which is what I want to avoid. I want to use one "FAMILY" AppleID as it is, and use iCloud IDs for each device.
My logic is: ALL my purchases are tied to an AppleID, and I just want to share on devices that leave the house, like another iPhone.
So- what to do? How to get a seperate iCloud ID without a seperate AppleID? I have an iPhone & iPad, husband has an iTouch & iPhone. How to share selectively? All devices were originally setup using one Cloud ID and one Apple ID. Now I need new IDs to represent the new user on the iTouch & iPhone.

  • Solution Manager sync with ARIS

I believe I have done all the configuration to sync solution manager content with aris.  I followed the instructions in the aris adminstration manual.  I think I'm connecting ok with JCo, but I get the following error: function 'Z_SOLAR_READ_INSTALLED_COMPS'not found on SAP-Server
I have completed the transport of the two .sol files mentioned in the manual.  Any ideas?
    Thanks.

    Hi,
look in SAP Function Builder and search for Z_SOLAR_READ_INSTALLED_COMPS. I'm sure, that your import failed or the function did not have been activated.
Here I have made a function test by my own (but for SAP ERP ECC6 - which is not the standard use). At the end of the article you can find the test method -> [ARIS BS 7.1 - VPN Handout|http://www.aris-user.de/aris/viewtopic.php?p=4722#4722]

  • Solution Manager prepared for the Remote Service Delivery?

In preparation of GoingLive Session, we received a mail with some questions. Among them the following:
Is your Solution Manager prepared for the Remote Service Delivery? Yes/No
Is the solution transferred to SAP?: Yes/No
What does the first question mean? what should be done to prepare the Solman for session delivery?
How do I check if the solution is transferred to SAP?
    Thanks a lot,
        Dino

    Hello Dino,
The SAP Solution Manager is a platform for the delivery of services for the following areas:
    ●     Risk minimization
    ●     Optimization of SAP solutions
    ●     Knowledge transfer
Services in the SAP Solution Manager are services which help you to monitor and optimize the performance and availibility of your system landscapes and minimize your system operation risks.
You can have the support services performed by SAP or perform them yourself:
    ●     Remote Services
SAP experts deliver this service type via a remote connection (SAP Safeguarding Services, e.g. SAP GoingLive Check).
For checking whether solution manager is prepared for remote service delivery u need to check the following.
    Prerequisites
    You have:
    ●     created a solution.
    ●     set-up a connection to the SAP Service Marketplace (Explorer).
    Procedure
           1.      Choose the transaction SOLUTION_MANAGER.
           2.      Choose Delivery of SAP Services ® Service Plan, in Operations.
           3.      Choose Order Service from SAP.
You go to the Service Catalog.
           4.      Choose the link to the service.
The system goes to the catalog entry of the service, in the SAP Service Marketplace.
           5.      Follow the procedure described in the SAP Service Marketplace.
    =============================================
Solution transfered to SAP means that the u have done the configuration, testing and validation of the SAP system components and then transfered this to the satellite systems connected to Solman. Please note that solman is the central point of access for supporting implementation activities and the satellite systems are SAP systems comnected to solman in the landscape.
Hope this helps. Please assign points and let me know if u need anything specific.
    Rgds

  • Can roadmap imported into Solution Manager

    Hi, friends:
i know there is HTML format roadmaps can be downloaded fron SMP.
can this /or other format imported into Solution Manger? and how?
    Br,
    Chrina

    Hi,
There is an ST-ICO support package that generally transports roadmaps and other Solution Manager content like BPR. It is however, may not be possible to import each and every roadmap separately. You need to check in which SP of ST-ICO, your required roadmap is released and then implement that in your target system. I hope it helps.

  • Upgrade ASAP roadmap content in Solution Manager

    Hello,
Does anyone of you know how to upgrade the ASAP roadmap content in solution manager?
Current we have solution manager 4.0, SP12. The version of the ASAP roadmap content is V3.6 (Dec. 2006). We currently found from the service marketplace the lastest ASAP implementation roadmap (V3.7)
    https://websmp106.sap-ag.de/roadmaps.
Is it possible to somehow "upload" this new version into Solution Manager roadmap to replace the older version? Or how should we get the roadmap content upgraded?
    Many thanks for your input!!
    Regards,
    Li

It is delivered in ST-ICO SAP Solution Manager Implementation Cont. Ver 3.6 is in SP11, I would imagine V3.7 is in SP 13.
You would have to up your service pack or use the standalone one until then.

  • Organizing the BI content in Solution manager - preproject activities

I am looking for suggestions on how to organize the BI content in Solution Manager, this as one of the pre-project activities. How should this be organized to create the BBP.
For example: organize creating folder according to the source module Reports for SD, Reports for FI, etc. And then a BBP for each of this requirements?

In my previous project we had separate projects for functional areas and hence had a BBD for each - but then these were big projects with separate teams for SD , MM etc and hence this was morew of a necessity that purpose...
Depending on the amount of development , I would suggest having separate folders - else if certain modules can be clubbed - then you can have it together...
Another thing is if yu intend to track changes through solution manager also - this becomes something much more complex...

  • Solution Manager instance install with on differnt platform than ERP system

    Hello,
I am working on a project to implement Solution Manager 7.0 in our landscape (SAP 4.7).  Our current servers are running on HP-UX 11 with Oracle 9.4.0.2 database.  We are considering implementing SolMan on a different OS (Linux & Windows the primary candidates, the DB is yet to be determined, but will likely be Oracle 10 or MS SQL) that will allow for easier monitoring for the existing admins.  I have heard that if an instance is created on a platfor other than the typy we're already using, that SAP requires an expensive "certification" of this platform that will be added to the existing system. I have heard numbers in the $100,000 range for this, possibly per server.  Is this true, and where can I find more information on this subject?
Thank you in advance for your prompt response.

Hi Tom, in SAP that's call Heterogeneous system landscape. You should read this note Note 1067221 - Composite note for heterogeneous installation for mor information about it.
About the "certification" I don't think that's true, because SAP has been working on this from many years.
    Hope this could help.

  • Solution Manager 4.0 BI Reporting Content for SP13

    Hi,
I'm looking for a listing of BI Reporting Content for Solution Manager 4.0 SP13.  I've heard rumors that standard BI Reporting content exists for the Change Request Management and Service Desk domains, but all I can find are references for system and performance report content for SP12.
See the matrix of content listed in help.sap.com at this url... <a href="http://help.sap.com/saphelp_sm40/helpdata/en/44/1ed74368b66491e10000000a1553f7/content.htm">SP12 SolMan BI Reporting Content from help.sap.com</a>
Any guidance for standard BI reporting content for SolMan Change Request Management or Service Desk domains would be appreciated.
    Thanks,
    Josh

I was on session LCM264 - Reporting and Performance Analysis Using SAP NetWeaver BI at TechED and there was no talking about Change Request Management or Service Desk reporting.... This doesn't mean it's not available but I have never heard about it...
I'm setting up Performance Analysis right now and it is working really fine.

  • Importing ARIS content to Solution Manager

    Hi Colleagues,
I'm looking for information on posible restrictions to import ARIS content to Solution Manager.
Have anyone been through this and could share what challenges we could expect?
I found a document called "IMPORTING ARIS FOR NETWEAVER CONTENT INTO SOLUTION MANAGER" from Sukumar Natarajan but it just explain its steps.
    Thanks a lot,
    Renato Petrulis

    Hello Renato,
To Import ARIS to Solman, you need have an install in solution manager, have a project created on tx solar_project_admin, have the ARIS Business Architect ready and follow the simple steps mentioned in the document you talked about.
Please reply for any other doubt,
    Cheers,

  • Solution Manager and Content Server / KW

    Hey guys,
Im supposed to assess the advantages of using a content server instead of the database used by SolMan to store documents.
Found some articles about connecting the content server but got confussed about the whole knowledge warehouse thing that seems somehow to be integrated in SolMan.
Apparently that's a different Version of the KW, providing a change history but lacking some other features. Found e.g.  this document here: [Solution Manager and SAP KW Documents |http://help.sap.com/saphelp_sm40/helpdata/EN/a4/4f691faacf423db80f286787c5a527/content.htm]
Can someone give me an overview about what's possible by using these two things togehter?
It's been kind of hard to find some good infos and I'm relatively new to that topic (especially the KW thing), so I really hope you guys can help me.
    Cheers Joerg

    Hello LuongDK,
Please refer to the FAQ section on http://service.sap.com/solutionmanager, Check the installations section:
Which system should I use to install SAP Solution Manager?
The system has to be dedicated to the SAP Solution Manager. No other components can be installed on top of SAP Solution Manager.
SAP Solution Manager does not necessarily require separate hardware. It can be installed as a separate instance on an existing hardware.
This means that the hardware can be shared if it is sufficient to support 2 systems. However a MCOD option is not recommended at all.
