Moving still images to a new location

I am part way through creating a slide show and I would like to move the image files to a new location on my HDD.  I think there is a Move tool to do this in Premiere Elements 7 without breaking the links and having to reconnect the images however I cannot find the way to do it.
Can anyone help?
Doug.

As Neale points out, the "Where is file ____ ?" message will pop up on the first "missing" file, and then PrE will help you locate the new folder/drive. For all Assets, in the same folder, once you find the first, PrE will then look in that folder and relink to all others in that folder. If you have moved several folders of Assets, you will need to do the Find, for each folder, and PrE will find all Assets in THAT folder. "Rinse and repeat... "
As a suggestion on how to set up your Project for the next time, I always create what will be my Project's root folder, with the Project's name. Below that, I will create one folder each for: Video, Audio, Music, Stills, Titles ( often use PS to create Titles as PSD files), and then point PrE to locate my Scratch Disks/Media Cache "Same as Project." Though there is a tiny performance hit, by setting that last location, it keeps everything within my Project's file structure. This allows me to Move, or, when done, Delete everything. With the exception of Captures, the Assets in each of those folders is a Copy, and the originals are still safely located on my NAS - just in case.
Good luck,
Hunt

  • Problem with exporting moving still images

    Hello.
I would like to create a sequence where the movie is made of still images (photos in .PSD format, reminiscent of a old-fashioned Polaroid photos) with added motion.
Now the problem is that after rendering and exporting (DV format, both interlaced and progressive) these moving-images somehow bounce or leap on the edges, especially inner white edge. It doesn't matter if I turn on or off the "optimize stills" option.
I attached short sample but it shows what I mean.
The file is 1MiB, 5sec, progressive, compressed with XviD with constant quantizer=2, resized to 640x480.
But all above modifications of exported file do not matter what so ever. It's the same with original export.
What shoud I do to improve fluency and smoothness of the movie?
    I use Premiere Pro 1.5.

    Hi,
I'm a newbee...brand new at learning premiere pro cs3....so I should not give you advice but others here are very very good at this stuff. I like the effect of your sample video. When I first looked at it I thought only the bottom edge was slightly jittery, but I can now see that the entire image inside the white border does jump...the jittery-ness is the vertical (not horizontal) movement of the image about 1 or 2 pixels up and down as it is interpolated at certain points in time.  The larger the screensize of the image the more noticeable it is.
I found this help file about keyframes and animation and interpolation...
    Change transition settings
In the Timeline panel, click a transition to select it.
In the Effect Controls panel, adjust settings:
    Edge selectors
Change the orientation or direction of the transition. Click an Edge selector arrow on the transition’s thumbnail. For example, the Barn Doors transition can be oriented vertically or horizontally. A transition doesn’t have Edge selectors if it has one orientation or if orientation isn’t applicable.
    Start and End sliders
Set the percentage of the transition that is complete at the start and end of the transition. Hold down the Shift key to move the start and end sliders together.
    Show Actual Sources
Displays the starting and ending frames of the clips.
    Border Width
Adjusts the width of the optional border on the transition. The default Border is None. Some transitions do not have borders.
    Border Color
Specifies the color of the transition’s border. Double‑click the color swatch or use the eyedropper to choose the color.
    Reverse
Plays the transition backward. For example, the Clock Wipe transition plays counterclockwise.
    Anti‑Aliasing Quality
Adjusts the smoothness of the transition’s edges.
    Custom
Changes settings specific to the transition. Most transitions don’t have custom settings.
Maybe the anti-aliasing quality adjustment will help?
I put your sample clip into VirtualDub and tried a filter called "Field Bob" (compensates for field jumping in field- split video by applying bob-deinterlacing techniques). In the filter setting I tried "smooth" for both even and odd fields.  It didn't really help.

  • Can anyone help me figure why there is a popping sound when I move from an iphoto still image to a new video clip?  The sound has been removed from the video clips and there is another soundtrack underneath it all.  Help?

My current project is like many I have created in the past.  I have removed the sound from my video clips and laid another soundtrack under the entire project.  Now, when I add an iphoto still image to the project, when it goes back into video there is a popping sound.  I've never had this happen in the past and have made many projects in the past just like this one.  Any way to troubleshoot this issue?  Thanks so much for your help.

  • Moving Still Images in Monitor (Pro 7)

I recently re-purchad Premiere Pro 7, and am making a slide show for a friend of the family. I seem to recall being able to grab the still image in the "Monitor" and move/resize the image with the cursor. Now when I try, I don't seem to have any reactivity? Is there a feature or option I need to enable to be able to adjust the image?

Click the Motion effect in the Effects Control window first.

  • Moving ECMI repository to a new location - cluster environment doesn't work

    Hello all,
Actually, we have the "default" configuration in the ECMI properties, and we want to move to a new location the File system repository (another disk location).
After reviewing the ECM doc's we found the way and the parameters to reconfigure (ContentStorePath) and we put an absolute path ( "H:\content ') instead "Default" value , but we have an issue on this.
Because our system runs in cluster mode (2 node instances), this configuration only works fine with one node, and the other doesn't work, displaying the "Content Folder Doesn't Exists" error.
Both nodes runs' on separated machines and we want to know what is the correct way to configure this feature in a cluster environment.

I should note that now my local users inside the office are getting outlook errors, showing 3 checkmarks 2 green one red,  regarding the cert, and the red  checked box says:  The name on the certificat is invalid or does not match the name
    of the site.
They can  bypass the error by clicking Continue, but installing it does only work for a short time before the error comes back. I think that would result from the setup in outlook pointing towards either SRV01 or SRV01.mydomain.local  instead of
    mail.mydomain.com
The cert error on the android devices was saying Invalid certificate, do you want to continue, or similar, except clicking continue just paused a short while and brought up the same window.
Now I am getting an error, on the android, saying Invalid username or password - when I KNOW it is valid
In regards to DNS being set up correctly - I never had a mail. A record setup prior to purchasing the commercial cert - we just used the router IP in the phones and were able to get activesync working. For some reason with the new IP / ISP we could not access
by IP.  So I got the SSL, and added a mail A record to DNS, pointing to our router IP, and our router has always routed activesync/443 traffic correctly, and none of that was changed

  • Moving Referenced Images to a new HD

    Hi,
I have my 500GB external HD almost full with all my Aperture referenced images.
    I got a new 1TB HD.
I Would like to move all my original folders keeping Aperture modifications on the images (metadata, adjustments, etc...).
Can I just copy the content of 500GB HD into the 1TB and somehow give to Aperture the path to the new HD? (the library file is on the computer's HD)
    Thanks!

You can copy everything and then reconnect the files, but you'd be better off using the File>Relocate Masters... command.

  • Moving still images in dropzones

I just updated to ilife '08 and am a little concerned because in my original idvd i could move photos around when they were in a dropzone or as a backdrop. It seems you cannot do this with 08? Can anyone help because i really need to use this option to customize a dvd theme...

    Welcome to iDVD Discussions.
I think you have to hold the Command key down while moving. See if there's anything in this:

  • I cannot open RW2 stills images from my new Panasonic GH4 in Lightroom 5.4, Raw 8.4 or DNG conveter 8.4. Thet do not open in the CC version of Lightroom or Photoshop either. when or how can I resolve this?

The only way at this point I have found to open the files is the SilkyPix software that came with the camera. I have sent SilkyPix an email to see if they will offer a DNG conversion option. At this point only jpeg or tiff is the available option.
So I export all the files out (unaltered) from SilkyPix to tiff, then import into Lightroom 5.4 as DNGs.

    photogetgo wrote:
True, and I did contact them about offering a DNG export option which I think would be a good move in any event as other raw for, mats are offering that for future file opening protection
That would solve the issue if they could export the raw data as a DNG. But that's unlikely. They probably don't want to provide you the option of using another raw converter (for whatever silly reasons). It appears they offer the option of saving a DNG of the rendered not raw data but that doesn't buy you anything. Bottom line is, you have to wait on Adobe to update the proprietary raw format that has no reason to be proprietary in the first place. The optional JPEG most cameras provide isn't proprietary and everyone has access to that data the day the camera ships. But for some politically stupid reasons, the camera manufacturers don't do this with the raw data and we all get to wait on every other company who's raw converter we'd like to use to spend the time and money to update the format. It will eventually happen, begging the question why the camera manufacturer's do this in the first place.

  • Still images in 16:9

    Hello,
I have do do a couple of short movies for a museum, containing only moved still images (pan and scan, Ken Burns effect, etc.) in 16:9 format.
The result has to be burned via iDVD to be shown on a 16:9 monitor (PAL).
How to set up FCE properly.
And how to get proper output in iDVD?
Many thanks for your advice in advance.

Thanks a lot for the quick reply.
Meanwhile, I did research on the topic a little bit and found "Anamorphicizer".
Will do a test to see if it works.
    Greetings.

Are you running a Managed or a Referenced Library?
A Managed Library, is the default setting, and iPhoto copies files into the iPhoto Library when Importing. The files are then stored in the Library package
A Referenced Library is when iPhoto is NOT copying the files into the iPhoto Library when importing because you made a change at iPhoto -> Preferences -> Advanced. (You unchecked the option to copy files into the Library on import) The files are then stored where ever you put them and not in the Library package. In this scenario you are responsible for the File Management.
    Assuming a Managed Library:
Make sure the drive is formatted Mac OS Extended (Journaled)
    1. Quit iPhoto
    2. Copy the iPhoto Library from your Pictures Folder to the External Disk.
    3. Hold down the option (or alt) key while launching iPhoto. From the resulting menu select 'Choose Library' and navigate to the new location. From that point on this will be the default location of your library.
    4. Test the library and when you're sure all is well, trash the one on your internal HD to free up space.

  • How do I get photos to show in my collections folders after moving photos to a new location?

After exporting my main folder to a new location along with the .lrcat and .lrdata files, along with my backup files, all of my collections folders show zero images in them.  I need to somehow link these files together to get my collections back.  The pnotos are there, just not showing in the collection folders.

Whats the simplest and most easily mainted method for storing files?  Do folks dump them into one huge file and then sort with Lr collections or do they import into smaller files AND sort with collections.
I would like to back up the mess I have and use collections but not sure if there is an efficent way to do so.
I believe that sometimes you are using the word "file" to mean "folder"
The simplest and easiest way to manage files is to use the default import mechanism in Lightroom, which is to put them into folders by capture date. This takes zero effort on your part. From that point on, you NEVER move them, how simple is that? (there is one exception which I shall explain in a minute) and then you use Lightroom tools ... keywords and other metadata, to allow you to organize and search.
Backups are accomplished by making a backup of both your catalog file and all of your photos.
The exception to never moving your photos is when you need to move them to a new hard disk or new computer, then of course you should move them.

  • Need assistance moving images to a new hard drive. can you help?

    1. My images are stored on an Apple Airport drive, connected wirelessly.
    2. I have moved them to a new USB connected External HD.
3 should I also copy the IRDATA and IRCAT Lightroom directory to the new drive before I synch the new directory within lightroom?

    Lightroom catalog FAQ
how do I move a catalog?
You can move your catalog to a different location on your computer's hard drive, to an external disk, or to another computer altogether. Simply use the Explorer (Windows) or Finder (Mac OS) to drag or copy the following files to the new location:
    Catalog: [catalog name].lrcat
    Previews: [catalog name] Previews.lrdata
Smart Previews (Lightroom 5 only): [catalog name] Smart Previews.lrdata
Notice that you're not moving any photos, nor are you moving the Lightroom application itself. If Lightroom can't find the catalog or your photos after you move a catalog, see Lightroom can't find my catalog. How do I find it? Or, My catalog can't find my photos. How do I find them?
To transfer a catalog between a Windows computer and a Mac, copy your catalog, preview, and image files from the original computer onto a flash or other external drive. Then, attach that drive to the second computer and copy the files to the desired location on the second computer.
For a video on how to move a catalog between two computers, watch Julieanne Kost's How to migrate Lightroom to another computer on Adobe TV.

Be aware, you go that route & every time you try to update or restore, it will error out, leaving your phone unusable. Not to mention, you void all warranty/support.
Sell it & use the proceeds towards an officially unlocked iPhone bought directly from Apple.
    Good luck.

Images I move from one folder into another are disappearing, at first it was occurring immediately and only if I did not copy and paste the images. Today however I found out that images I had been using for days just up and vanished from their new location. A few of these images had copies in another folder that remained and the ones I couldn't find may or may not have ever had copies. I had backed up my system with time machine recently as well, so I went into the backup to retreive the lost images. When I searched and found the backup copies I got the error "the file alias cannot be opened because the original cannot be located". The crazy thing is that the images that remained on my computer did not give me the same error and opened like they should.
In short images that I am creating, saving, and using are disapearing so epically that even time machine versions are affected when retrieval is attempted. Any suggestions as to what I could be doing wrong without realizing it? Or perhaps other people have had similar bugs that are software related and have a solution?

    Hi Kevin,
I understand what you tried to do but it doesn't work that way. Swapping drive names will just mess things up.
You should be able to reconnect the files though: in the Locate Referenced Files dialog make sure you click the Show Reconnect Options button — this will give you access to all the connected drives. Locate one of the files and hit Reconnect All. Should do the trick.
    Best
