Moving subset of music from Windows iTunes to Apple iTunes

Ok, I have to admit, I am a little irritated at iTunes…. I’m hoping there’s an easier way to accomplish such a simple task.
I have a Windows system and link up my video iPod up to it for my tunes.
My wife has a MacBook and a Nano.
I have imported our CD library into my iTunes as I have the space to handle our library on my iPod. My wife went through my library, created a playlist on my pc, and placed her favorite songs into this playlist. I would like to copy her favorite songs over to her mac/itunes/nano. There are about 60 songs she wants that seem to be spread around between 25 artists. Hunting down each file on my hard drive sounds idiotic so I thought I’d just burn the playlist to CD’s….
MUCH to my disappointment, when I ripped them to CD’s I had 2 issues:
1. It looks like the files are just Track01, 02…. Ect… Where did all the relevant information go? I haven’t tried to import it into her Mac yet, maybe an overreaction.
2. 2 of the CD’s burned before my library tanked.
Better way?
Ok, now to my question… It seems kind of silly to take 60 songs that are in a small format, bloat them up, span them across 4 CD’s to be moved over to Mac Tunes, compressed down again to go on the Wife’s mac?
Isn’t there a way I can export a playlist to a DVD in the MP3 or iTunes file format and move over to the wife’s system?
Despite my frustration, I love my iPod and really love my wife’s MacBook!

I have imported our CD library into my iTunes as I have the space to handle our library on my iPod.
You mean you have the space on yoru computer.
RIP from a CD/DVD.
Burn to a CD/DVD.
You need to burn these to a data CD/DVD, not an audio CD.
iTunes prefs -> Advanced - Burning.

Hopefully you moved the entire iTunes Media (or iTunes Music) folder to a new path on your external drive. Copy your iTunes library folder out to the root of the external drive, e.g. X:\iTunes (where X: is your external drive), then move the media folder inside it. Hold down shift as you start iTUnes and keep holding untila asked to choose or create a library. Choose the library at X:\iTunes\iTunes Library.itl. Should all be good.
Failing that, download and run my FindTracks script and point it at the new location of your media folder.

  • Import music from windows media to itunes

How on earth do i put my music from windows media center into itunes? I've tried everything I can think of but no luck. I just got a new nano and want to load it but... not technologically inclined!

File -> Add folder to library and select the top level folder where your music is located, most likely \Music\.

  • Trouble moving music from my iTunes to my iPhone.

I downloaded the new iTunes software very recently, but now I seem to be having trouble moving music from my iTunes library onto my iPhone. If I click and drag the track to the iPhone icon, the icon is completely unresponsive. If I right-click the track and hit "Add to iPhone" nothing happens either. My iPhone is synced to my laptop and 'Trusts' it, so I don't understand why I'm not getting any response from my phone when I try to move music into it.
This is especially frustrating as when I tried to download the new software for my iPhone it suddenly and inexplicably went into recovery mode, and though I recovered the phone's data from backup all my music has been deleted from my phone and I can't get it back.
Am I doing something wrong that I'm unaware of, or is there a problem with the software? Any feedback would be hugely appreciated.

  • Transfer music from Mac iTunes to Windows

    Hi everybody!
Is there any way to get my music from the iTunes Library on my iBook to my PC's iTunes Library through my network? Since my iBook has OS 10.3, I cannot use my iPod. Both computers are connected to my network. The laptop uses AirPort, and the PC desktop is hard-wired.
I have enabled Personal File Sharing and Windows File Sharing in System Preferences, and I do not have a firewall running. My PC won't even let me open Windows Firewall, so there's nothing stopping it on that end.
I can get my mac's library to appear in iTunes on the PC, but when I try to load my PC's library on my Mac, I get the error message, "The shared library 'Nathan's Desktop Library' could not be found. Please make sure communication on port 3689 are not blocked." (or something like that.)
Even when a library does appear on my PC, it doesn't let you transfer music to your own library. Is there any way to get around this?
I purchased some music from iTunes on my laptop, not realizing that I couldn't transfer anything with my iPod, and I can't burn CDs.

Hello, everyone. You can forget I ever asked this question. I simply used a flash drive to transfer the files. I can't believe I didn't think of this before.

Within iTunes use the add folder to library option available on file menu. Select the folder to add. iTunes will add the file to iTunes library. Depending on settings, iTunes may copy the file to iTUnes folder location.

  • How do I import music from my iTunes library to my wife's iPad

  • Can I export music from my iTunes library to another application?

I've been trying to figure out how to export music from my iTunes library to either Movie Maker or Roxio My DVD Creator. If I browse to my iTunes library, it doesn't show any music within the artist folders. I take it the only way I could use the music is to burn a CD and then open it using "my computer" and copying it to a folder on my PC and then browse to it from the other applications?

I think AAC will get you a little better quality for
the same file size of an Mp3. If I recall, iTunes
saves the original file and makes a copy with the
converted version. But to be safe, just make a backup
    copy of the original file
And I take it that it makes no difference what format the file is in, it will still upload to the iPod and be playable there. I guess the default is set at AAC in iTunes and I never knew where/how to change it.
Thanks so much for your help!

Some of the information below has subsequently appeared in a document by turingtest2: Recovering your iTunes library from your iPod or iOS device - https://discussions.apple.com/docs/DOC-3991
Your i-device was not designed for unique storage of your media. It is not a backup device and media transfer was designed for you maintaining a master copy of your media on a computer which is itself properly backed up against loss. Syncing is one way, computer to device, updating the device content to the content on the computer, not updating or restoring content on a computer. The exception is iTunes Store purchased content.
iTunes Store: Transferring purchases from your iOS device or iPod to a computer - http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1848 - only media purchased from iTunes Store
For transferring other items from an i-device to a computer you will have to use third party commercial software. Examples (check the web for others; this is not an exhaustive listing, nor do I have any idea if they are any good):

If I was to get a new computer and transfer all my music from my itunes on my old computer to hard drive then to my new computer and itunes, could I make a new itunes account on my new computer and still be able to use my old songs?
I am getting a new computer and I know I can transfer my music on my old computer to my new one with a hard drive but me and brother currently share an account and I would like my own, once I get a new computer can I make a new account on my new itunes and still be able to keep my old music and be able to sync it and play it etc?? Anyone with information on this would be muchly appreciated!!! Thank you in advance! Oh and I currently have a windows but will be getting a mac book pro most likely

The music sync is one one way - computer to ipod.  The exception is itunes purchases.  File>Transfer Purchases
Have you failed to maintain a backup copy of your computer?

  • My mac gets slow when I play music from my iTunes library

Hi, aproximately six months ago I noticed that everytime I play music from my iTunes library that its stored in my 27" iMac's hard drive, the computer gets slow, the images start to flicker, the animatios on the dock and the one when u minimize or maximaze the windows, also flicker. As soon as I close iTunes the computer works fine again. When I play music from a CD this doesn't happen.
I've taken the iMac to two service providers along theese 6 months and neighther have been able to fix the issue. What they have diagnozed is an issue with the hard drive which has been changed 4 times already.
    What could be the issue?

Basic troubleshooting from the User's Guide is reset, restart, restore (first from backup then as new).  Try each of these in order until the issue is resolved.
