Hi Bala,
Try steps mentioned in this article while moving sub site to site collection, steps mentioned for SP 2007 but you can try for SP 2010

  • Sharepoint 2013 - domain configuration, external users, creating subsite in site collection, moving subsites

Hello all, first of all thank you for reading this post. Please bare with me, I am new with this environnement. I have had several problems in past week trying to configure a local sharepoint server 2013, most of it went well but now I am stuck and I badly
need help! I intend to make sharepoint available through the Ethernet connection in my office.
    Here is my config:
    Sharepoint 2013 (local)
    Microsoft SQL 2012
    Microsoft Server 2012
I am able to access the sub-site I created in the Sharepoint Central Administration Web Application.
My first problem is, I created another Web Application with the following URL config http://intranet.[domain].com but I am not able to access it through my browser. It seems to point to bad IP I probably configured accidentally a CNAME on my hosting Cpanel
with the IP 192.168.1.199. So, When I ping the URL I do not get any connection. Just that it couldn't connect to 192.168.1.199. Now I added a CNAME on my CPANEL for the URL http://intranet.[domain].com --> 127.0.0.1. Is this the correct way to do it?
More information: The DNS manager has been configured following this tutorial:
    Create SharePoint 2013 Web Application
    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yW7LT99eUMs
I am not too sure of the proper configuration for the IIS Manager.
    Anomymous Authentication is enabled
    Windows Authentication is enabled
    Everything else is disabled.
My second problem is that I cannot invite any user to the site. Even the one that have the email corresponding to our domain. Will I be able to invite parent domain users if the Web Apllication is properly configured with the CNAME on the Cpanel?
I tried to activate the External user invitation feature from Site Collection Features but it's not in the list. I am logged in as an administrator but next to the wrench it says "System Account" (with an arrow pointing down) so I guess this is
the "logged in user as..."? Am I missing something here?
Any advices would be greatly welcomed. I've run out of ideas.
    Much appreciated,
    Herb

Hello Ramu, thank you for your fast reply.
Quote Ramu: "You have to create A record called intranet.your-domain.com points to your SharePoint Server
IP and also loop back ip address in the host file entry on the SharePoint server(127.0.0.1  intranet.SharePoint.com)"
Is this a record on our corporate website Cpanel? What should I put in the "Address" field of
the Record (we do not have static IP)?
For the loop back, is this on the DNS Manager of our local Sharepoint 2013 server?
    Quote Ramu: "3.
if you want to publish this externally, then your site needs to publish in your Network and it should points to your public static IP in your public domain control panel(Cpanel)."
In the first scenario where I only want intranet access, should everything be OK with the above mentionedconfiguration a DNS Record:
Which address should it be for the record?
Should I assign a fix IP to our server like 192.168.1.55?
What if another desktop computer gets an IP conflict with the server
fix IP, or what if we have to shut down the server everyday will the server IP change ?
General question: From what I understand, it is possible to put a DNS Record on the public Cpanel from our corporate website with a local IP that will only be resolved
if accessed through the local network? Ex.: Name: intranet.[our-corporate-public-domain].com, Address: 192.168.1.55 ?
    Much appreciated RAMU.

    Herb

  • Display Community Names, only when Current User is a Member of that Community

    Greetings,
I have a Community Site Collection(say ABC). Within that I have many Community Sub-sites(say X,Y,Z). I want to display the Community Sub-site Names in Community Home-page for the Condition,
When Current User name Exists in "Community Members".
1.For that i have to access "Community Members" list from all Sub-sites(say X,Y,Z) within Community Site Collection(say ABC).
2.Display Community Sub-sites Name Queried for Current-user Name Exists in "Member" Column of "Community Members" List
Is this the Correct Solution for my Requirement? Or any Best Practice available?
    Thanks in Advance for help

    Thanks for your Reply
You mean I need to use Custom Webpart and Content Editor in my Community Homepage.
1.Custom Webpart for displaying all Subsites within SiteCollection and
2.Content Editor to hide Community name(By Using JavaScript)
I can display all Subsites within SiteCollection using Spweb.getsubwebsforcurrentUser()
But it seems complex to hide non-member community names. The reason is that for a particular user itself i need to filter out "Is this Current User Member of this Community?" for all Subsites
Any better Solution? Hope it would be
    Thanks,
    Vinnarasi

  • How Documents or lists moving from one Subsite to another Subsite in sharepoint 2010

    Hi All,
I have one site, it consists 5 subsite.
One subsite consists 5 document libraries.
How to move Doument libraries and lists from one site to another site  in sharepoint 2010.
Each subsite access by different users.
    Thanks,
    GAK Austin

    Here are few options/ways:
    1) Save the library as template and reuse at another sub sites. Here the permission will be revoked at destination site
    2) Use sitemanager page to move list and libraries. URL owuld be SITEURL/_layouts/sitemanager.aspx . You will have the old permisison at another sub site.
    3) Use Powershell command to have the xeport and import of that library from source to destination
    4) Use Contentdeployment tool. It is free from codeplex
    Many Thanks,

  • Moving a document library to the top level subsite

    Hi community
As part of period of extensive user engagement, I want to move the development documents library to the main community site I have set up for the project board ( rather than project office site where it is now).  Now I don't do this very often - last
time was in MOSS 2007 but I find myself scratching my head as to why are can't in the brave new world of SharePoint 2013. I tried in SPD 2013 and that didn't work either.
I have checked that all the relevant documents are check in.  I wonder if it is a publishing feature restriction a bit like site templates????

One way to do this (via the UI), is to save the document library as a list template (and include the contents of the list with the template). Then create a new list from the template in the root site (and afterwards, delete the old list).

  • Moving a site collection to be a sub site of the same site collection

Currently I have a publishing site collection of type enterprise wiki, that stores wikis for our HR department. And I added all the current wiki pages to it. But in the future we might need to create another sites for different departments suh as; finance,
    technical, etc.
So I might need to have the departments represented as subsites of the same site collection.and in this situation I will need to move the current HR site collection to be a sub site of the current site collection. I know that I can move a site collection
to be a sub site by doing:-
    Export the Site Collection
    Create the New Subsite
    Import the Exported Site Collection
    Delete the Old Site Collection
But I have the following questions:-
Is it possible to move a site collection to be a sub site of the same site collection in SP2013, baring in mind that i am using a publishing site. and on this link it is mentioned that it is not possible in SP2010 http://blogs.technet.com/b/stefan_gossner/archive/2009/05/27/limitations-of-stsadm-o-export-import-related-to-publishing-sites.aspx?
Can I continue with my current approach of having my HR wiki inside the site collection (not as a sub site). And in the future if I need to have the departments as sub sites , I can move the current site collection to be a sub site ?
Currently I have created new page layouts for the current site collection, so will moving my site collection to be a sub site moves the page layouts using the export/import approach ?
What are the things I will lose when I move a site collection to be a subsite , in respect to data, page layouts, web parts, etc.
Thanks in advance for any help.
    Regards

It is not possible to export the site collection to a sub site irrespective of what  type of site template you are using. You can only export a sub site and import it to a sub site not site collection to a sub site. If you import a publishing site,
the pages do not have the correct link to the page layout. The the page is hard-coded to the page layout from the original site. You can use the powershell specified in the below link to fix them

  • Navigation Link failes : _layouts/15/AreaNavigationSettings.aspx fails to load on subsites

PROBLEM: The navigation link in Site Settings will only works on the root site. Any sub site I get the notorious "Sorry, something went wrong An unexpected error has occurred."
When I look at the logs I see the following that relate to the correlation ID below.  Any ideas on how to get Navigation working?
This was caused when I migrated sites from one farm to another and only if I created a new site collection and replaced the root site with one from the other farm.
    What I've Tried:
I've done this on other site collections where I moved the sites but made them subsites and did not overwrite the root site and the navigation feature works fine.  Even sites where I
didn't do a migration it worked great.
I've tried the following found at this link which seems to be the most popular solution but I've had no luck.

    Hi Craig,
I understand you encountered the issue with navigation link in the sites after migrated to another one.
The issue might be caused by
Navigation links that were added by site owners as relative links in the old site continued to work, and links that were added and managed automatically by SharePoint continued to work as well.
Please try the script in the article below and see if it fix the link:
    http://sharepointtaproom.com/2014/11/12/how-to-fix-broken-navigation-links-after-sharepoint-upgrade-or-migration/

  • How do I add a search web part to search ONLY a subsite?

I'm trying to add a search web part into a subsite that will search ONLY that specific subsite for documents. Not the entire site collection or anything else.   Everything I've looked at doesn't address this specifically.  I want a user
to be able to type in a word like "SharePoint"  and all it displays is the results for any document in that subsite that has "SharePoint" in the title of the document.   I'm assuming that it's not very convoluted to do.

You can use site "search settings" and "search scope" to achieve this , you can use any of these method -
Configure Site settings -> Search settings to default to the contexual scope. This will pass current site  url to search results page to filter current site result only.
Use refinement web part on the search results page to filter results from a specific sub-site.
Create a search scope for the subsite , some example here for Sp2010 and 2013-
    http://www.bentedder.com/create-a-search-scope-for-a-sharepoint-2010-list-or-library/

  • Create site Collection from site template containing blog subsite sp2013

    Hello,
    I want to create a site collection based on a `site template` that contains a `calendar app` and a `blog` subsite.
I explain, i have a site that contains a subsite of type `blog` site and also contains a calendar in `sharepoint 2013`, i saved the site as a template and checked **`include content`**.
    However,
when i create a new sitecollection based on that template, i get the caledar app but never the blog subsite...
Am i missing something here? And how can we do this please?
    Thanks in advance

Save site as Site Template only saves the individual site and its content, not the sub sites. please check below thread :

....I'm pretty sure google ads are flash files.
What you can make with photoshop are GIFs, not flash files. GIFs aren't very professional, so I'd advise against it. Most sites use flash and css.
Otherwise check out pfaffenbichler's link. If you need a simple moving object, instead of moving it every frame, I suggest just setting the start position and the end position, then tween the frames in-between. There are tons of GIF tutorials out there.

  • Cannot Access Dead Subsite

I have a subsite that of a sudden refuses to open.
When attempting to access the subsite/pages/default.aspx page it just time out. I have little luck tracking down the error. I attempted to open the management page with subsite/_layouts/settings.aspx and get the same time out.
I cant afford to lose the subsites to this one as there is a lot of data there, and those subsites work if navigated directly to.
I have tried iisreset, no help.
All the other subsites at the same level in this collection work.
Whats the best way at this point to recover my dead site?

This is the only thing that looks related?

  • Lookup Columns in subsites

    Hey,
do you have a soloution for the following Problem:
We have a sitecollection (root) with a two lists and Sub sites which look exactly like sitecollection.
The subsites should import the data in the lists to the sitecollection by a timerjob where it gets monitored. But each subsites have ist own permissions! So noone can write to the sitecollection. Easy to solve... normally...
We have contenttypes on the sitecollection created. then we have several subsites in the sitecollection which inherits the contenttypes. With a web-Feature i add two lookup coloumns to the contenttype and all subsites inherits the lookup columns.
The Problem here is, that all of These subsites refer to the sitecollection lists...
Programmaticially i can not Change the lookup columns on each subsite to their lists in their subsite.
How can i solve that Problem?

When you are adding a column to the parent content type you get the following option.
On selection of yes all the existing lists from the content types will get updated with the new column. This option is available during the creation of new column as well as adding existing site column to the content type and hence will be available in Modify
    View functionality
You can also use object model to propagate parent changes Immediately.

  • Managed Metadata values scrambled when copying or moving documents from one Site collection to another.

    Hi
What works: Copy or move a document library containing one or more MM columns *within* a Site Collection = all column managed metadata replicated accurately.
What doesn't work: Copy or move a document library containing one or more MM columns *from one Site Collection to another* within the same Webapp. The issue is that some but not all MM values are totally wrong. By totally wrong I mean that the incorrect
terms are associated with a TermSet that is not even referenced in this DL!
Same result for all method's tried:
    1) Save the DL as a template (no contents) and then copy or move the documents in
    2) Programmatically do the copy
    3) Export the list via CA and then reimporting it using Pshell
This thread is very similar but his workaround has not helped in this instance:
    https://social.msdn.microsoft.com/Forums/office/en-US/6aca7b7c-97cb-4f1f-99f1-5e1fa0b1e3ed/content-type-hub-custom-library-template-managed-metadata-lostscrambled-when-moving-files?forum=sharepointdevelopment#65b52342-408f-47b4-a9f8-5d0b952acc12
Has anyone else experienced this and found the cause/solution? Or can anyone do this without the issues that I have described?
    Thanks

    Hi Nuno,
I've got to the root of the issue but in answer to your question first: The MM column is attached to a Global Content Type - there is nothing local.
The fact that some are ok and others are not led me down the route of checking the columns at item level. Scripting this did not help - all rows returned are what I would expect. ie The same MMColName with the expected value (as appearing
    on the source DL).
On checking SharePoint manager however I have found what looks to be causing the issue.
When checking the properties (ie SiteCollection/Lists/<ListName>/items/<itemName>/Properties) of the 'good' documents against the 'bad' documents I find the following:
Good Docs: The MMColName is displayed as expected at the item level
    Field: Name
    Field:  Internal Name
    Item Properties:
    Ok?
    Partnership Type
    Partnership_x0020_Type
    Partnership Type
    Y
Bad Docs: The MMColName is NOT displayed as expected at the item level. Instead the internal name is displayed:
    Field: Name
    Field:  Internal Name
    Item Properties:
    Ok?
    Register Type
    Type_x0020_of_x0020_Licence
    Type_x0020_of_x0020_Licence
    N
    Meeting Type
    Meeting_x0020_Type
Meeting Type & Meeting_x0020_Type (Both columns are listed)
    N
I should add that each of these 3 examples are taken from 3 different DL's - hence the different Fields
So this looks to be a case of corruption - and unless we can think of any other outcome we will have to look to rebuild the DL - while trying to maintain the metadata!
