Moving Tab Strip to Left Side

I would like to move the tab strip to the left side. I tried using a plug in to do this, but it only provided top or bottom support, no left or right side. Does Firefox support this directly?

You want tabs on the left going down vertically, right?
Try Tree Style Tabs: https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/5890/
It also has some organization of tabs in a tree, as the name suggests. There might be other similar add-ons.
But Firefox doesn't have that functionality out of the box.

Navigation tabs top and left side

Hi
I've never built a site with tabs both across the top as well as the left side.
across the top is supposed to be the categories and within each category, I want to have the related navigation down the left side.
is each of the tabs going to end up being a page? if so, how do you make the pages cascade behind each other like file folder tabs?
or are the tabs going to become links to the various pages?
how would you set that structure up? I'm looking at the example of the Sushi Bar website in GoLive CS2 but thats not really what I want

Yes, that's likely going to be the way to go if the tabs are the primary navigation. If they were the secondary navigation, might be worth looking into the Spry tabs, or a similar JavaScript option:

How do i get the refresh button to not disappear after i have moved it to the left side of the address bar in firefox 8?

when i customize the toolbar i moved the refresh button to the left side of the address bar, i also put the stop button and home button there as well. but after i click done when i have finished only the refresh bar disappears, but i can click customize and it reshows up in the same spot only to disappear again after i click done. it used to work just fine in firefox 3.

I've attached a screenshot. You may have to move one of the buttons around a bit until it settles down. Alternatively you can also add a '''Separator''' ('''View''' (or '''Alt''' + '''V''') > '''Toolbars''' > '''Customize''') between the two.

Tip: Moving Vertical Scrollbar To Left-Side

I like being able to move the vertical scrollbar to the left-side of the viewing area.
But the problem is with CSSs position:absolute and position:fixed is that if the left attribute is set to less than 20 the scrollbar will cover it up. For instance left:5px will be covered by the scrollbar.

Set the pref layout.scrollbar.side to '3' to place the scroll bar at the left side.

To open the about:config page, type about:config in the location (address) bar and press the "Enter" key, just like you type the url of a website to open a website. 
If you see a warning then you can confirm that you want to access that page.

When looking for a document, there used to be a "Today" tab on the left side of the Finder window. After updating my computer with the most recent update (I think it was Mountain Lion, but I could be wrong...), the "Today" tab seems to have disappeared.

I really prefer using the "Today" tab instead of the "All My Files" tab, because it loads much faster and only shows me the documents that I want to see. Is there any possible way to get the "Today" tab back?

In Finder, go command - F. On the top left set "Kind" to Date Created, finish selecting the criteria and hot "Save" on the top right. You'll get a new smart folder with an option to add it to the sidebar.

I have home sharing on my main computer turned on. But I can't access it from my other computer, ipad or apple tv. I don't even see the home sharing tab on the left side tool bar on my main computer. Can someone help me figure this out?

Horizontal tabs when they are on the left side of tab control

I have a tab control for a touch screen where I was going to use buttons along the left side to change tabs, and hide the tabs. However, I realized I can put the tabs on the left side of the tab control and remove my buttons all together. Only issue is, I would like them (along with their font) to be horizontal, not vertical as they are shown in my screenshot. Is there a way to change this?

It's a really poor design aspect of tab controls that the text is sideways when the tabs are on the left or right side.
I've looked into it and found no way to re-orient the text.
However you can put images on the tabs instead of text, and the images can be of text (correctly oriented of course).
The attached code can be used to generate such a tab control.

i got dell vostro. i got back from a trip, whike i was at the trip i download pictures ti my ipad from the sd.
i edit the pic in ulbums.
now i want to move my albums to the pc.
i read the support answer about it but i cant find the photo tab on the left side under the ipad device.

It doesn't appear on the left-hand side, a Photos tab appears on the right-hand side of your computer's iTunes when you've selected the iPad 'device' on the left-hand side - but that is only used to copy photos to the iPad, not to copy them off.
To copy photos to your computer that were taken with the iPad, copied to it via the camera connection kit, or saved from emails/websites then see this page - on a PC you can use the windows camera wizard

Medium pitched squeal on left side

I've got a first generation MBP that has had the logicboard replaced.
The computer has started periodically producing a medium-low pitched squeal from the left side of the machine (something close to the sound of blowing through your hands where you've suspended a blade of grass). The sound stops immediately if I dislodge the power cord. It's clear that this is not processor whine (too loud and too low pitch). I don't think its the fan because forcing the fans to 6000 rpm has no effect on the pitch of the sound.
What could be causing this? Should I be going immediately to the repair shop?

The only other moving part on the left side is the hard drive. Launch Disk Utility, highlight the model (not name) of your hard drive, and look at the bottom of the DU window for SMART Status. If it says anything other than "verified," get it in for service.
Also look at the MagSafe power connector and its port for dirt or carbon marks. If you see carbon, the connector is likely shorting and something needs immediate attention.
If you are under warranty or Apple Care, take it in anyway.

I just upgraded to the new Photo and find a few things missing. May find more later. My Events are gone. Also, the Albums and Projects that I created that were on the left side tab of iPhoto are now gone. Where are they?

Yes, it's a mess for sure, and I've lost confidence in it for now. First attempt, 5 photos came up missing. Delete and start over, then after second attempt 18 photos go missing. Even one single missing photo is a real confidence breaker for me.
After conversion, and activation of the sidebar, all of my Events were migrated into a single "Photos" Album called "iPhoto Events". Why would I want "legacy" Events segregated into one big Album? What the heck am I supposed to do with that? That's useless if new photos are going to be organized in some other way moving forward. I cannot imagine new photos automatically putting themselves into a new Event inside of the "iPhoto Events" Album... because they won't. I'll be stuck with my old iPhoto Events in this one Album, and the new stuff organized as per Photos. Weird, just weird.
Also, in the "all photos" view, there are dates that are just blank. I think I know why. In iPhoto, I merged various photos into single Events. For whatever reason, within the Library, this left empty folders behind. iPhoto's fault, not mine... I simply dragged & dropped photos to combine Events. Then during Photos import/conversion these empty folders got converted into "blank" days within Photos... this is simply ridiculous. When programming for an import, you'd want to ignore a folder if there are no files inside of it, not convert it into a block of photos that contain no photos. It's nonsensical... you cannot have an iPhoto Event with zero photos, yet that's what was converted over. LOL.
I'm certainly not going to invest the time into cleaning up and moving hundreds of Events and 18,000 photos if Photos can't even do a simple library conversion. Heck, what about the dozens of photos that my iPhone 5S fails to geotag for whatever reason? Can't edit geotags. Can't bulk edit meta data. These are pretty basic functions. Total fail.
I'm going back to iPhoto for a while, hoping Apple eventually cleans up this mess into something usable.

Such problems never arose during two years of using LTR-4 and nothing else has changed on my computer. I have a pretty simple system with only a few plug-ins, which are usually not in operation. I have 12GB of RAM in my Windows 7 PC. I could illustrate these problems with screen shots if you would tell me how to submit screen shots. Otherwise I will try to describe the problems in words.
The problem is clearly cumulative, growing worse as usage time passes. Compare View feature gradually slows down and eventually seems to choke as my work session proceeds. If I Exit LTR and re-enter and start all over, things will work normally for maybe 30 minutes, but then the Compare View feature begins to become very slow to respond. In a recent example with my screen full of thumbnails in Library mode I highlighted two images to compare. LTR started to open the Compare View screen by first having the top row of thumbnails disappear to be replaced by the "SELECT" and "CANDIDATE" words in their spaces (but no images), but Compare View never succeeded in gaining control of the screen. After some seconds the top row of thumbnails reasserted its position and the Compare View windows disappeared. But LTR kept trying to bring them back. Again the top row of thumbnails would go away, Select and candidate would reappear, try again, and give up. This went on for at least 2-3 minutes before I tried to choose File and Exit, but even that did not initially want to respond. It doesn't like to accept other commands when it's trying to open Compare View. Finally it allowed me to exit.
To experiment I created a new catalog of 1100 images. After 30-40 minutes, the Compare View function began to operate very slowly. With left and right side panels visible and two thumbnails highlighted, hitting Compare View can take half a minute before the two mid-size images open in their respective SELECT and CANDIDATE windows. When the side panels are open and two images are in the Select/Candidate spaces, hitting the Tab button to close the side panels produces a very delayed response--25-30 seconds to close them, a few more seconds to enlarge the two images to full size. To reverse the process (i.e., to recall the two side panels), hitting Tab would make the two sides of the screen go black for up to a minute, with no words visible. Eventually the info fields in the panels would open up.
I also created a new user account and imported a folder of 160 images. After half an hour Compare View began mis-placing data. (I have a screen shot to show this.) CANDIDATE appears on the left side of SELECT, whereas it should be on the right. The accompanying camera exposure data appears almost entirely to the left of the mid-screen dividing line. Although the Candidate and Select headings were transposed, the image exposure data was not, but the data for the image on the right was almost entirely to the left of the line dividing the screen in two.
Gurus in The Lightroom Forum have examined Task Manager data showing Processes running and Performance indicators and they see nothing wrong. I could also send screen shots of this data.

List all tabs to left side of window

i want to list all tabs to left side in a window like ctrl+b makes all bookmarks to left side to window . tried 'tile tabs ' add on it is useless .any one suggest me the shortcut or add on.

The link to the actual plug-in seems to be broken. Any one else see this? The "Add To Firefox" button actually points to the "Hide My Ass IP Checker" Add-on instead of the Tree Style Tab add-on.
Any idea who to contact to fix this?

Where is the photo tab on itunes? My device is not listed on the left side of my screen and there is no photos tab on the right of my screen. I want to delete photo albums that were synced through itunes to my ipad 3.

I synced several photo albums to my iPad 3 from my computer through iTunes. Now, I would like to remove them and have discovered that they cannot be removed except through using iTunes. Instructions that I've read say that once the device is connected to and selected from the list in iTunes, select the Photo Tab and then the folder that contains the photos etc. I never get that far because I do not have a Photo Tab to select in iTunes. How do I find this illusive tab so that I can delete these albums that are merely duplications of other pictures and are just occupying space. I need to get rid of them. Can anyone help me find the photo tab. I cannot move past that step until I do. Also, my device is not listed on the left side as stated in the instructions. It's in the bar on the upper right area of my screen and is automatically selected when connected. I am using the current version 11.1 for iTunes and IOS 7 on my iPad 3, if that helps.

I have the same problem on the latest iTunes software and Windows 7. My window is maximzed and I do not see any tab for photos. Seems related to a recent update (IOS7?) as this was there - at least before the very big change to the interface.
