Moving the 9iAS Infrastructure Database

Oracle Portal (9.0.2) on AIX.
Right now everything is installed in a single environment. We want to split the load and move the infrastructure. Does anyone have any experience doing this ? Is there documentation available ?

There have been a number of stability issues with the installation. I thought we could do the following (provided the database version and machine OS version are the same on both machines):
# Take a cold backup of the database (A)
# Install a new machine with fresh IAS installation (B)
# Copy the backup files on machine (B)
# Restore the cold backup like a normal cold backup,
# Run the 2 databases in parallel
* The new infrastructure installation
* The backup of the (A) database
# Modify the configuration such that the infrastructure uses the portal repository of the backup (A).
# Modify the configuration such that the portal repository uses the OID, Webcache and SSO of the new infrastructure (B).

  • Moving the HFM Oracle Database from One Server to Another

Our Oracle DBAs have requested that our HFM Oracle db in TEST be moved to another server. When we tried this in our DEV environment, we had major issues afterwards and some of the software needed to be re-installed. Does anyone have any recommendations on how what we need to do on the Hyperion side prior and post db move to make the transition smooth? In addition to HFM, we have Essbase, Planning, Workspace, Interactive Reporting, Financial Reporting and Web Analytics.
    Thanks.

If all of the database files, including the binaries, are on a SAN you might be able to...
    1. Cold backup of everything - database files and binaries.
    2. Dismount the SAN volumes from the old server.
    3. Mount the SAN volumes to the new server - using the same mount points.
    4. Start up the database on the new server.
If the OS version/release are the same between new and old, that should be about all you need to do.
If the OS is same but upgraded to new version/release you will want to relink the Oracle executables before starting up.

  • HELP: Moving the iTunes Music Database Files

How can I move the two iTunes Music Database files into a folder that is not "my music" on Windows XP?
The two files I'm refering to are:
iTunes Music Database File (data file?)
    and
    iTunes Music Library (xml file)
What I want to do is move these two files into the same folder where my iTunes library was moved to. I've been searching for a way to do this for a really long time and so far I've had no luck. The reason I want to do it is mainly because I don't like having to continually delete the "my music" folder every time I turn on iTunes or have to reload all my files into the library when iTunes remakes the folder in a folder I don't want it to be.
    Please help!!!

Copy just the xml file to the folder you want, then goto iTunes and in the file menu select "Import" then Import the library xml file it should then create the data file in the same location.
What you will basicly be doing is recreating the library file which is covered at apple here http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=93313

  • Moving the iTunes Library database

I hae the iTunes media file on an external hard disk.
I  need to move to a new windows 7 laptop and want to leave my media file on the external harddisk.
I plan to install a new iTunes on the new laptop. Can I copy the iTunes library data base from the old laptop to the new one, hook up the external hard drive to  the new laptop and iTunes working.
Thanks for your thoughts and ideas.

Provided the external drive has the same drive letter on the new system then yes, that should work.

  • Moving Infrastructure Database

My current environment for development is a Sun V480, dual cpu, with 4 GB ram. It is running three instances (10.1.0.3), html db and an application server (10G - 9.0.4) that is running both infrastructure and mid-tier and the infrastructure database (asdb). Since the machine is hovering at 93% memory utilization I was wanting to merge together some of the database instances to save overhead. Merging the 3 10G instances together into two instances ( "dev" and "test") is not a problem since I know who the application owners/users are, but I would also like to include the asdb in one of those instances.
My question is what owners from the asdb do I need to export/import, and what settings within the app server do I need to update to point to the new infrastructure database? Hopefully, I will not have to uninstall/reinstall the entire app server as there are several existing applications using it. I would like to preserve the OID information (users, groups, databases) in the asdb also.

    * The new infrastructure installation
    * The backup of the (A) database
    # Modify the configuration such that the infrastructure uses the portal repository of the backup (A).
    # Modify the configuration such that the portal repository uses the OID, Webcache and SSO of the new infrastructure (B).

  • Oracle 9ias Infrastructure

    Hi,
I'm currently investigating single sign on and have a question about
the 9ias Infrastructure I need to install. I know that the infrastructure
will work with Oracle9i Database and with Oracle 8i if I upgrade the Net8
listener but I was wondering if it would work with Oracle 7 at all ?
    Cheers,
    Maggie

Oracle9iAS Infrastructure is an install type in Release 2 (v9.0.2). This install type installs a 9.0.1.3 database which contains all the
metadata Oracle9iAS mid tiers components such as Portal, Wireless etc use. Only the database we ship with is supported to contain the
Metadata. We do not support any other 9i or 8i or 7 databases to contain the Metadata.
The only exception is Portal. Portal metadata can be populated into any 8.1.7 or a 9.0.1.4 database.

  • De-installing 9iAS infrastructure tier

I have a server that has the 9iAS infrastructure installed. None of the 9iAS mid-tier instances require SSO or clustering. The questions I have is:
    - Do these 9iAS mid-tier instances use the infrastructure if they are not using SSO or clustering?
    - If they're not, is there any impact on any of the mid-tier instances if the 9iAS infrastructure is de-installed
    - If they do, is there a safe way to remove the 9iAS infrastructure without impacting the mid-tier instances?
    Thanks
    James

However, once you have associated any mid tier with infrastructure, it is not supported to remove the infrastructure except in one case. If you want to use FOrms and Reports without Infrastructure, following the instructions you can find in the white paper available on OTN, you can remove Infrastructure. This means you will not be able to use SSO capabilities with forms and reports.
So, if you are using J2EE and Web Cache and do not care about SSO or database managed clustering feature, you have to make that decision during install and do not associate with infrastructure.

  • Moving the Reporting Services and Report Server DB into AlwaysON Availability Group

I have configured the new set of SQL 2012 AlwaysOn Availability Group and need to move the SSRS and it's Report Server DB into that Availability Group.
Can anyone give tell me the steps to do this move?
Can I just backup the ReportServer DB into the AG server then import that DB into the SSRS running on the new AlwasyOn AG SQL?

    Hello,
Based on your description, it seems that you want to move the Report Server database to a different server. If so, both the reportserver and reportservertempdb databases must be moved or copied together. You can move the databases by using Detaching
and Attaching or Backup and Restore.
What's more, you should also backup the encryption keys for the report server database you want to move and then restore to the new server.
You can configure report server databases in Always On Availability Group to be part of a replica; however Reporting Services will not automatically use a different replica for the report server databases when a failover occurs

iTunes stores its XML library in the following folder on my C:\ Drive:

  • 9ias infrastructure installation on "custom database"

    Hello,
we made a test on instalation of 9ias rel2 on win2k.
When you install the infrastructure the univerval installer create a database and install the repository.
We want in the future to first install an 9i database with our own parameters and then install the repository on it.
Does anyone know how to do that?

What I did was to let the Oracle create the infrastructure database and then shutdown the database and move the control file and datafile to other locations. There are more than 40 datafiles need to be moved. I am not sure you can change the database version.

  • Update database installed with 9iAS Infrastructure?

    Hi!
I'm about to install BIBeans on this system, which has Oracle 9i Database (9.2.0.4), 9iAS Infrastructure (9.0.2.3) and 9i Mid-Tier (9.0.2.3)... In the readme for the bibdemo schema, it says this: "Install (and upgrade, if you have an existing installation) the Oracle9i database. You must also install the required patchsets to get your database to version 9.2.0.3 or higher. Installation of the demo database schema will fail if the correct patchsets are not installed."
I previously patched the 9i Database instance up to 9.2.0.4, but I was under the impression that Infrastructure installed its own copy of the database... Is that correct? If so, do I also have to update the IASDB? I had a look at the readme for the 9.2.0.4 DB patch, and it looked like that could only be applied to the 9i Database Server...
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
    Thanks!

Even I am having the same problem.
I am still struggling to get this right but in the meantime you can start from the following URL:

  • Can anyone give me the steps for moving the repository databases in 9.3.0?

We are in the 9.3.0 environment and I need to move the four repository databases for essbase, biplus and webanalysis/workspace to a new machine. I tested moving the databases and rerunning the config util, but I lost my sample reports I created earlier. Does anyone have a step by step procedure for moving the repositories?
    Thanks,
    -C.

If you are moving reports why don't you bulk export them from workspace and then import them into your target.
Are you talking about migrating the repository across different shared services environments, if so then I doubt you will have much luck with trying to migrate the workspace repository as it pretty tied in with shared services.
    Cheers

  • Where should one install Oracle Database and the Grid Infrastructure in order to adhere to OFA?

I've downloaded the two zipped install folders for Oracle Database, and the two zipped install folders for the Grid Infrastructure.  The book I'm following for installation says to use one directory for the database, and one directory for the Grid Infrastructure, but it doesn't explain where they should be located in OFA.  Presumably they should both end up somewhere in the same Oracle Base (since everything Oracle related on a single file system should go in the same base, according to my understanding), but it isn't clear where they should be installed in relation to each other.  For example, is the Grid Infrastructure a separate product that gets its own Oracle Home?  Can anyone shed light on this process?
Also, does it matter to which location the zipped files are unzipped?  For example, are any of these files used after the installation process, or does OFA only care about post-installation location?

I think this links may be helpful -- ORACLE-BASE - Oracle Database 11g Release 2 RAC On Oracle Linux 5.8 Using VirtualBox, http://www.oracle.com/technetwork/articles/hunter-rac11gr2-iscsi-088677.html.
OFA -- Optimal Flexible Architecture standard. The standard is a set of configuration guidelines created to ensure well organized Oracle installations that are easier to maintain (http://docs.oracle.com/cd/B28359_01/install.111/b32002/app_ofa.htm#LADBI440).
It relates to location of the grid and dbms files location. Actually you should specify base directory and follow installer. System will be installed in correct directories.
It does not matter where you will unzip your distributives. You may delete them after installation to free space.

  • Interesting 'problem' after moving the WSUS database

Firstly I have checked the suggested topics but none of them exactly describe the problem I have encountered.
(this link just gives a 'post not found page:  http://blogs.technet.com/b/sbs/archive/2009/09/23/how-to-move-sdfssdfdf-content-and-database-files-to-a-different-partition.aspx)
Okay, I have a SBS2011 server running on an HP Proliant server.  The server has been dunning flawlessly for the last 2+ years. At deployment the WSUS content was initially located on the D drive. Free space on the C drive has dropped to 16GB and
as a precaution I decided to move the WSUS DB to the D drive too.  I stopped the necessary  ISS Admin, Update and WWW services and proceeded, using  the SQL server management studio, to detach the DB, I moved (copy & paste) the DB to the
new disk and attached it the the SQL SMS.  Nothing seemed to go wrong there, however, when opening the SBS console I am missing half of my information.  The face that the necessary icons are there leads me to believe that the service is functioning
but just missing the computer info. If I click on a computer icon I can see the correct computer name.
Is there any way to fix this without deleting and reinstalling the entire WSUS service?
Thank you in advance for your time!
