Moving the left most clips displaces the timeline panel

I couldn't find this issue on the forums, but I might not be using the right term.
When I trim (dragging the left border to the right) the first clip in the timeline the workspace also gets trimmed.
If I do this too often I end up with this useless "canvas" on the left.
I haven't got a clue how to restore again the space I loose when this happends.
Please also see the screenshot I attached for clarification.
Any suggestions?

Move the timeline slider to the right. Or swipe if you're using a trackpad.

Ocassionally, when running Firefox 7.0.1 on Mac OS X 10.6.8, I am unable to click the items of the left-most side of the Menu Bar (everything between and including the Apple symbol and "Help").

The keyboard shortcuts for all of the options still work, but will not let me select anything with the mouse. The Apple key seems also not to allow selection of anything on the Menu Bar.
I can browse normally when this happens; it's not freezing or crashing. And I am able to click everything on the right side of the Menu Bar; the clock, wireless icon, battery, etc. Also, other programs running at the same time don't have this problem. A restart of Firefox seems to temporarily fix the problem, but it's happened a few times, with no clear pattern as to what is causing it.
Anyone else having this problem? Solutions?

I fixed this, in a fairly brutal way. Here is the solution.
Save your bookmarks, like on the desktop. Or you could launch Safari and import your Firefox bookmarks into Safari, then later pull them back into Firefox.
COMPLETELY delete everything that has to do with Firefox. That includes not only the application, any dmg file hanging around and most importantly the ENTIRE contents of User/Library/ApplicationSupport/Firefox. Indeed just throw the whole Firefox folder in the Trash. Empty the Trash just in case. Now use Safari to download a new Firefox.dmg file and start from scratch. You will have to re-establish your Preferences. But Firefox will not hang, and most importantly, it will not hang your OS. --Gene

I cannot close the left most tab

When I try to close the left most tab or the default tab at start-up, it won't close, even when I have other tabs opened.

How to create a title over the top of the left-most column in a cross-tab.

This is one of those things that seems simple until you try it.
I'm almost there. I moved the cross-tab from the report header to the report footer so I can have a page title. I tried using an overlay but it didn't work for any page past the first.
I can't seem to figure out how to put a title over the left-most column though.

I have used a text box, after you type in the text, select the box, and move it to the front.
then select the crosstab and move it to the back.

Why can't I see the left most tab in a window with FF6?

My problem is that when I upgraded to FF6 and started firefox in some windows the left most tab is hidden, what do I need to do to be able to see all of my tabs? I did not have this problem with FF4 only the last version of FF5 and FF6. I reverted back to FF4 and was reluctant to upgrade because of this issue. I can get to the tab by going to tab group but I see this as an unnecessary step. perhaps you should stop having lunch with your microsoft neighbors.

I think you would have had the same problem in 3.6. Anyway the tabs do not narrow down instead they scroll off the left side or off of the right side and you can only show 5 or 6 tabs depending on how wide you have your window.
The following three styles will help you to work with tabs, the first one will help with your specific problem. Be sure tho read the write-up because you will need some configuration changes as well. The one with the tab borders will need an extension from the MozillaZine site.

In Firefox 29.0, how can I pin the bookmarks so they are all displayed on the left hand side (all the time)?

Before the Firefox 29.0 upgrade, I had my bookmark list constantly displayed on the left-hand side of the Firefox screen. How can I get that in version29.0?
Right now I have to click on the bookmark button and then on Bookmark menu to get to see my bookmarks. I want them permanently "pinned" to the left-hand side of the screen. Just moving the bookmark button is not enough.

You can find the "View Bookmarks Sidebar" in the drop-down list of the "Show your bookmarks" button that is the dropmarker part of the star on the Navigation Toolbar to bookmark the current page.
There is also a "Show Sidebars" icon in the Customize palette that you can drag on a toolbar or the "3-bar" Firefox menu to have access to the same items that you see in "View > Sidebars" (tap the Alt key or press F10 to show the Menu bar).

The itunes window on my desktop fails to display the bottom most portion of the screen unless I go into full screen mode. Why?

As a follow up to provide more detailed information.
I have a MacBook as well running 10.6.8.
When I open itunes, the window I expect to come up does. It has a scroll that allows me to view all of my playlists, as well as hit the new playlist icon at the bottom of the screen, etc.
On my Macbook Pro running 10.7.4, when I open itunes, there's no scroll bar, no icons at the bottom most portion of the screen. The only way that I can see the new playlist icon AND be able to view/scroll through all of my playlists is to enter full screen mode....very inconvenient as the window is now fixed (can't be moved out of the way) without exiting full screen mode.
I'm a multi-tasker...rearranging windows, making one application active while another moves into the background, is my typical work situation.

How do I get a trash, spam and draft files to be a visible part of my in box set of files on the left hand side of the page

On the left hand side of the gmail screen and under compose mail, there is an inbox item and some sub-files, including "Starred," "Important," "Chats," and "Sent Mail. But there isn't "drafts," "spam," or "trash." Nor when I seek to move an e-mail is there in the move-to drop down a way of moving files to important, drafts, trash or spam. Thus i can't file and I can't see what has been moved where. I don't know whether this is a function of version 9, but if so, I'd like to get the older version so I can manage my files.and view what's there.

My screen displays a shadow from left to right, being darker on the left and brighter on the right. Any advice about how to change this would be appreciated.

My screen from the moment it starts any program appears to be shaded from left to right. The left hand side of the display appears to be darker than the right half of the screen. Can someone please advise what I can do to alter this. Have I pressed something I shouldn,t have? Or is there a problem with my display?

Does not sound too healthy! You should take it to the Genius bar in the Apple store. May need the hardware looked at...
It's most probably a backlight issue. Take some piccys of it while it isnt working now!!

What happened to the ability to open your bookmarks on the left hand side of the screen and scroll thru them like on IE?

In older versions of firefox, I could open the bookmarks on the left hand side of the screen, and they would stay open when i clicked on one of them, and i could use it to open multiple tabs. How do i do that in Firefox 5? I do not like the bookmark toolbar.

The bookmarks toolbar no longer displays by default & they seem to be encouraging use of the bookmarks button or bookmarks menu. The bookmarks sidebar is still available if you know the shortcut as above. There is also the bookmarks library, now under show all bookmarks, rather than organise/organize bookmarks. ( Also it is possible with a simple chrome command in the location bar to open the library as a tab enter

I tried to use the attached command through TERMINAL :
sqlite3 ~/Library/Application\ Support/Dock/*.db "DELETE from apps WHERE title='Help';" && killall Dock
sqlite3: Error: too many options: "DELETE from apps WHERE title='Help';"
Use -help for a list of options.
But i didn't work as I got the above error message.

I'm in the same boat as you -- except that I manage both a school lab (volunteer job) and macs in the enterprise (pay job). What I think we need is the Education Volume Purchasing Program

Unfortunately this all seems a little rough around the edges -- for example, I have found updates for AppStore apps on the support.apple.com updates download site, but then when I install them via ARD they don't actually update the software. (The AppStore icons still show as needing the updates, and the version info reports the old version.) The documentation is also vague about which AppleID to use in which circumstance. I think they just haven't finished thinking through the implications of the various procedures and policies upon the various kinds of customers. When we deployed Mountain Lion on the school lab, we made an install usb and went around and installed it on each computer -- and it appears that you are on the honor system as far as paying for all of the licenses that you install. We did! But they appear to have no way to enforce it.
So far, I have only deployed 9 Lion macs in my day job, and our "solution" to the AppStore showing updates problem has been to drag the AppStore icon off of the users' docks so they don't see them!

How do I move a page to a new location that is offscreen to the left or right on the planning screen

When I'm in the planning screen mode, even though I have the thumbnails set on their smallest size, my website is so large that the branches of the hierarchal layout of webpages and their various subpages stretch out to the left and right far distances off the screen. When I try to move one of the little rectangular webpage icons in the hierarchal layout in Plan Screen mode, I can't move it off screen to the left or right to change its position in my website's horizontal menu. In other words, even at the smallest setting for the icon webpage thumbnails, there's so many icons that they go off page and I can't move a webpage icon to a position that is currently off-screen to the left or right in the menu layout.
Any ideas how to do that? Is there a non-graphical way to do it? Thanks!!!

Your best bet is to reduce the thumbnail size to the smallest, then turn off thumbnails (to speed redraw), then drag in multiple steps, scrolling the Plan view each time. In the upcoming release of Muse (June 17th) you will be able to collapse vertical stacks of pages, which will means your Plan view won't be as wide. If you collapse each stack, you will only see the top level pages, and you won't have to scroll as many times. Or maybe they will all fit. What you really need is autoscroll in Plan view, which we don't currently have.
