Moving the Musical Typing Keyboard Range

When I'm playing using the computer's keyboard, I can't shift the available keys to the space I want. I can make bold moves by pressing 'z' or 'x', but I need a space that moves a smaller amount. Normally I plus in my (music) keyboard, but I like playing for a few moments in random places, and would like to get the most out of it.

The Musical Typing Keyboard is not working.

It was working before but now it is no longer working. You can see when I press the keys, but they will not make sound. The green bar that usually lights up when you press the keys is not working either.

No need to take the computer at this stage. Just take the keyboard into your local Apple store for examination. If you have another machine, not necessarily Apple, you could try the board on that or perhaps a friend's machine … they are largely universal.
You do not have a virus.

Musical Typing - Keyboard is cut off

Hi. I had this trouble also. I was using musical typing, then I switched tracks and did other things, then came back and it did not work. I don't know what I might have hit in the interim that turned it off. The mouse/cursor still plays music, but the keyboard does not.
In fact, when I type now on the keyboard, the whole screen greys out. But this doesn't seem to be all the keys; for example, 'R" still starts recording.

OK, so it's now a minute later and the mute button WAS on for that track. I swear I checked it! Consider this solved for now.

Nope. Well, it worked for a minute there, then stopped again after I moved a track. What is going on here? Yeesh.

Help! I lost my musical typing keyboard

Hello,
I have worked in GarageBand for about a month since I got my new Macbook. However, somehow I lost the box for musical typing, the one that shows the keyboard. Thus, I can't continue on my song unless I painfully enter my ideas note by note.
I'm not really sure what I did and I have no clue how to fix it. Still, I'm pretty sure it is easy to fix... for someone else!

I have PC with Windows 7 and iPad. My music in iTunes on PC is available under Music on iPad but having trouble moving music to i-Cloud. I suceed in moving the music to iCloud on PC but when I look at iPad music still on device and not in iCloud. Help?

I am a beginner using Apple software, so please bare with me.
I am having trouble moving music from the iPad to iCloud in order to save space in the device.
I realise that in order to store music not purchased on iTunes store can only be stored in iCloud if you subscribe to iTunes Match which I have done.
Appears that moving music from iTunes on my PC to iCloud is successful by deleting song or album in iTunes library and than click on "Keep song" instead of sending to recycle bin. After this has been done the Cloud Icon appears on the album or against the song. However when I then look at Music on the iPad the album or song have not been moved to iCloud. I have tried syncronising with cable connected between PC and iPad. After that has been done the message is that sync was successful bujt still music has not been moved into the Cloud.
Can anybody help? What am I doing wrong? Is there a way to move the music to the cloud working on the iPad only (without trying to use the PC to move the music to the cloud)?

You can only add music to iTunes Match from your iTunes library on your computer, not from your iOS device. If you have music on your iPad that is not on your computer, you'll have to import it to your iTunes library on your computer to add it to iTunes Match.
Music purchased from the iTunes store can be imported directly to your iTunes library by authorizing your computer for the Apple ID(s) used to purchase the music (in Store>Authorize This Computer), then connecting the iPad to your computer, opening iTunes and going to File>Devices>Transfer Purchases. Music from other sources will require using 3rd party software to transfer to your computer, such as Touch Copy.

Moving the music lbrary storage location from C: to D: drive

I loaded all of my music to the C-drive and it is getting full. How do I move all of the music to a directory in D:/, Additionally, how dow I configure Itunes and my IPod to go to the D- drive load all new data?

ITunes isn't moving the music to the right folder.

I direct it to D:\Music and it creates and puts it in D:\Music\Music, if I put it in D:\ it will put the music in D:\. It won't do D:\Music. Anyone know the issue?

Interestingly I just checked my phone and all my playlists have been loaded up..go figure...

Moving the music to an external drive

I want to move all my music, books and movies onto my external drive but I can't figure out how to do it. I copied the music and the library files over, I held down he alt key while opening the Itunes program but when I direct it to the external drive it tells me that its an invalid directory. Can someone please tell me what I'm doing wrong?

Stu, I'd suggest you start a new topic with your issue (use the "Post a new topic" link at the top of each main topic page). It's generally better to ask a question as a new topic rather than as a reply in someone else's thread. New computer moving the music

i have a new computer and want to set up my music and itunes on this new computer i have copied all the music into a file "my music" on an external hard disk. and loaded the new itunes from the web site i have copied the my music folder into the my music folder on the new computer but the system only works when the the extrenal disk is connected when i disconnect the HD i get an error message The folder"itunes" cannot be found or created, and is required. The default location for this is inside the "My Music" folder.But when i look the folder is there! hOw hrad can it be ? Help Please

Note: much of the below is a "canned response". See the info below in the same color as this part for additional info related to your specific question...
Assuming you use the iTunes default settings where iTunes copied added items to your iTunes folder and organizes your library (meaning - everything is all self contained in the iTunes folder), then all you have to do is drag & drop your iTunes folder (not just the iTunes Music folder you find inside the iTunes folder) to the external drive and copy the entire thing.
If you want to test that it worked or would like to actually start using it from that location instead, use these instructions when you start iTunes to point it to the new location...

If you are just testing, then close iTunes after you verify it works, and restart iTunes again with the same instructions and point it back to your internal drive (original) location.
At this point, your next step would be to copy the folder back to your new computer. If iTunes does not automatically detect the new library (assuming you copied it to the right location) then use the instructions above to again open an "alternate" library and manually point iTunes to the library. You should be all set then.

I'm recording the musical typing and it keeps changing the tempo of what I input. Please help!

I don't why it keeps snapping to a different tempo, but it's driving me insane. Any help is appreicated

Have you blown the dust out lately?
One way to test is to Safe Boot from the HD, (holding Shift key down at bootup), run Disk Utility in Applications>Utilities, then highlight your drive, click on Repair Permissions, Test for problem in Safe Mode...
PS. Safe boot may stay on the gray radian for a long time, let it go, it's trying to repair the Hard Drive
Reboot, test again.
If it only does it in Regular Boot, then it could be some hardware problem like Video card, (Quartz is turned off in Safe Mode), or Airport, or some USB or Firewire device, or 3rd party add-on, Check System Preferences>Accounts>Login Items window to see if it or something relevant is listed.
Check the System Preferences>Other Row, for 3rd party Pref Panes.
Also look in these if they exist, some are invisible...

Musical Typing problem

Hello there,
I just started to use mainstage without a midi controller keyboard. I'm using the musical typing feature to listen to the bank of sounds.
When i type something like a F#7 chord ("t", "u", "o", ";") i cannot hear the four notes together (when i'm playing them all at once)... it seems there's a problem when i'm trying to mix certain notes with the musical typing keyboard. (Some complicated chords just don't work).
I have the same problem with Logic 8 . (press caps lock to see the musical typing window).
I can't see why i can't get that F#7 chord.
I'm using mac os 10.5.1 with a macbook pro 2,4 ghz.

Computer keyboards aren't designed to respond to multiple keys all pressed at once. I think you'll find the most a standard Mac keyboard will deal with is four keys at once, but even then they won't respond with minimal latency, because they aren't designed for this.
It's a limitation to how computer keyboards are built and processed, not a Logic/Mainstage issue as such. The caps lock keyboard is a convenience thing - it's not intended to be a suitable interface for playing Rachmaninov on...

Musical typing not working properly

Hey guys I'm new to Logic Pro X and Im having some difficulties with the Musical typing keyboard.
For some reason the note "E2" does not play when I hit the "D" key on my keyboard, all the other notes work fine and even with lower and high octaves but for some reason "E2" does not work. I checked the Velocites and an its fine so I have no idea what it could be as it was working earlier today.
Any help would be much appreciated

Open your Controller Assignments window (cmd-K), delete the assignment to E2 and close the window. Make sure Learn Mode is off (=grey button - blue button means it's on))

Musical Typing Window

Is there anyway to make the musical typing keyboard work with Finale? I used to own a huge rack of gear and have now paired down to a single laptop. Simple entry in Finale takes a long time as does to some extend "speedy entry" Hyperscribe is the fastest, but requires hooking up my pro keyboard etc.
Anyone know how this could be bridged or better, dose finale come with musical typing?

MidiKeys does much the same thing - shows a keyboard on screen and lets you use your main keyboard. It's free.

Onscreen Keyboard & Musical Typing enhancements

I do not remember these enhancements with GB3... there are now icons on the onscreen keyboard to swap back and forth between the keyboard and musical typing - this is a nice touch. Also, I noticed that when playing a MIDI file, if you have the musical typing screen displayed, you can follow along with the notes being played. Another nice touch for learning.
