Moving Tool Presets From CS to CS3

Hi,
I have a bunch of custom tool presets I have made over the years in PS CS1. For example, I have several custom crop presets I have made (with different widths, heights, resolutions). I have now installed CS3 and am wondering if I can move them over to it? If so how? I hope I do not have to create them all again.
Thanks in advance for any help.
Paul W.

From the Tool Presets Palette flyout OR the Presets Manager choose Save Tool Presets. Name them and Save them somewhere and you can transfer them over using Load in the Presets Manager. You can also transfer them to other computers, put them on a sever, etc.

  • Type tool preset changes after switching tools?

How can I keep my type tool preset from going back to the default after switching tools?
I have a type tool preset that I use and then I go to another tool to do something -when I switch back to the type tool I have to re-click on the preset to activate it again. How can I keep this preset active?

Reset your PS preferences (CMD+OPT+SHIFT) when you launch it.
The tools should hold their most recent setting after that.

  • Can CS4 import printing presets from CS3?

I found the preset folder in the CS3 folder but nothing in there were caller printer presets.  I see presets for workspace, swatches, and many other things but not printing.  We just upgraded here and I have about 20-30 presets that I REALLY do not want to have to recreate from scratch again!

    Yes
    You open up CS3
    File>Print Presets
    Select the Preset and SAVE
    Open up CS4
    File>Print Presets
    Select Load
    Find Saved file
    Done

I accidentally moved iPhoto off from my tool bar.  Now i get the message that iPhoto can't open because it may be damage or incomplete.  Can someone help?

    To re-install iPhoto
    1. Put the iPhoto.app in the trash (Drag it from your Applications Folder to the trash)
2a: On 10.5:  Go to HD/Library/Receipts and remove any pkg file there with iPhoto in the name.
2b: On 10.6: Those receipts may be found as follows:  In the Finder use the Go menu and select Go To Folder. In the resulting window type
    /var/db/receipts/
    2c: on 10.7 they're at
    /private/var/db/receipts
A Finder Window will open at that location and you can remove the iPhoto pkg files.
    3. Re-install.
If you purchased an iLife Disk, then iPhoto is on it.
If iPhoto was installed on your Mac when you go it then it’s on the System Restore disks that came with your Mac. Insert the first one and opt to ‘Install Bundled Applications Only.
If you purchased it on the App Store or have a Recent Mac you can find it in your Purchases List.

  • Importing RAW presets from cs3 into LR

is there a way to get my saved raw presets from photoshop cs3 into the lightroom developer user presets?

    >Doing this in LR (which I purchased to make my life easier) is much slower and more cumbersome to use.
How are you doing the equivalent in LR?
Based on your description, it seems that metadata presets would do this. One difference is that presets don't include keywords, so you would also have to create some keyword sets. In LR, assigning two sets of info (the preset and the corresponding keyword set) would be required, but it might be a workable method for you in LR to avoid using Bridge.

  • Moving presets from lr3 to lr4

I upgraded from lr3 to lr4.4. 3rd party develop presets [datacolor spydercheckr] are showing up in lr3, not lr4. how do I move and redirect these presets from 3 to 4?

You can download the 30 day trial version and install it. But when it comes time to purchase there will not be any way for you to purchase Lightroom 4. Adobe only sells the current version. That download is provided primarily to enable users of the older version to download if they have a computer crash or purchase a new computer.

  • How do you transfer pen tool drawings from Photoshop CS2 to Flash CS3?

I tried to copy and paste it but that didn't work.
I didn't want to redraw the entire picture in in pen again in Flash (so that I could later animate the drawing), so I was wondering how I could transfer the pen tool drawings from Photoshop to Flash?

I have an old laptop with Photoshop elements 5.0 and wanted to move that program to my newer PC but the program was too old so I bought and loaded Photoshop Elements 13 on my PC.  To import my photos from the 5.0 I did a full backup on a flash drive and then loaded the pictures to the PC with 13.  The pictures are there but none of my collections from 5.0. I read the manual and said I was supposed to be prompted to convert old catalogs.  I was never prompted and do not know how to transfer my collections in my catalog from 5.0 to the 13.
What you are doing is not only to install a newer version of PSE, it's also to migrate to a new computer.
The general solution is to do a full organizer backup on an external drive and do an organizer restore to the new computer (or new drive).
Use Backup, Restore to move catalog | Organizer | Elements 6 or later
The problem is that since PSE5 is an old version working with a different database engine, you must first use a conversion utility to create a PSE13 version.
    http://helpx.adobe.com/elements-organizer/kb/convert-organizer-catalog-elements-13-64.html
So read that paper carefully, do the backup restore and conversion as described.

  • FAQ: How do I migrate my saved presets from an earlier version of Photoshop or import/export them?

You now have the option to migrate presets from a previous version, export presets and to save to a directory as a zip file (great for instructors).
Preset Migration migrates your saved presets, not your preferences. The message says "Would you like to migrate presets from the following versions?"  It simply carries on the preset files you have already saved (things like Brush Tips, HDR Toning presets, Curve presets, Styles etc.)  to CS6.
HOW TO USE PHOTOSHOP CS6 AUTOMATED PRESET MIGRATION
Photoshop CS6 offers the great new functionality of automated preset migration for your custom presets from Photoshop versions as far back as CS3.
When Photoshop CS6 launches for the first time, it checks for previous installations of Photoshop on the computer to see if there are custom presets that need to be migrated. Photoshop looks in each of these presets folders for your saved custom preset files that it can migrate.
Preset migration script copies all the files in user preset folders of older versions. If there are more than one preset files with the same name, presets from the newer version will be given priority. These types of presets will be migrated by the script:
3DLUTs, Actions, Black and White, Brushes, Channel Mixer, Color Books, Color Swatches, Contours, Curves, Custom Shapes, Deco, Duotones, Exposure, Flash 3D, Gradients, HDR Toning, Hue and Saturation, Levels, Lighting Effects, Lights, Materials, Meshes, Optimized Colors, Optimized Output Settings, Optimized Settings, Patterns, Render Settings, Repousse, Scripts, Styles, Tools, Video, Volumes, Widgets, Zoomify, and Workspaces
If this is not your first launch and you would like Photoshop to look for presets,
Choose Edit > Presets > Migrate Presets
When Photoshop notices that you have custom presets saved in their appropriate folders it will give the message "Would you like to migrate presets from the following versions?"
Choose Yes. Photoshop will begin the preset migration script.
When the migration has completed Photoshop will pop up another message saying:
"Preset files from older versions successfully migrated"
In order to use your newly migrated presets, you must restart Photoshop.
If you had Photoshop CS6 beta installed and have saved custom presets, you will need to export those presets before uninstalling the previous version and installing the release version of Photoshop CS6.
    HOW TO SAVE PRESETS
For PS, check that you have saved all your presets using:
Edit>Preset Manager... (in previous versions) Edit>Presets>Preset Manager... (in CS6)
HOW TO IMPORT AND EXPORT PRESETS
    In the main PS menu,
    Choose Edit > Presets > Export/Import Presets
In this dialog you can export the presets and then import them when you load the new version using the same Export/Import dialog.
If you have gone through the automated preset migration and notice that some of your presets didn't get migrated with the rest, make sure you have exported your presets to their default folders.
    PRESET FILE LOCATIONS:
(Note that there are two different folder locations for presets, one for application provided default presets, and one for user created preset files)
These are the presets that are unique to each user on the computer. These can be migrated automatically: (this is the location that the user should save their personal presets in)
    Windows:  Users/[user name]/AppData/Roaming/Adobe/Adobe Photoshop CS6/Presets
    Mac:  Users/[Username]/Library/Application Support/Adobe/Adobe Photoshop CS6/Presets
These are the default presets that ship with Photoshop.  These presets can be imported but will not copy over using the migrate feature because each version of Photoshop will install defaults for that version.

Do you have an  iPhoto Library from the old machine? If you have then simply open it - there's no importing involved.
Hold down the option (or alt) key key and launch iPhoto. From the resulting menu select 'Choose Library'
If you don't have an actual library there is no way to do what you want.

If you migrated/copied any files or applications from your old computer then I would recommend running the uninstaller from the Applications/Utilities/Adobe Installers folder.  Once you have uninstalled please run the CC Cleaner Tool prior to reinstalling Photoshop CS5.  Please see Use the CC Cleaner Tool to solve installation problems | CC, CS3-CS6 - http://helpx.adobe.com/creative-suite/kb/cs5-cleaner-tool-installation-problems.html for information on how to use the CC Cleaner Tool.

Hi, I have moved to India from france and I am trying to update my payment options to the Indian visa card but it seems that no matter what I do I cant do it. I dont want to create a new ID..Plz Help!!!Just want to change my location and my payment details!! thanks in advance!!

These are two possible approaches that will normally work to move an existing library to a new computer.
    Method 1
Backup the library with this User Tip.
Deauthorize the old computer if you no longer want to access protected content on it.
Restore the backup to your new computer using the same tool used to back it up.
Keep your backup up-to-date in future.
    Method 2
Connect the two computers to the same network. Share your <User's Music> folder from the old computer and copy the entire iTunes library folder into the <User's Music> folder on the new one. Again, deauthorize the old computer if no longer required.
Both methods should give the new computer a working clone of the library that was on the old one. As far as iTunes is concerned this is still the "home" library for your devices so you shouldn't have any issues with iTunes wanting to erase and reload.
I'd recommend method 1 since it establishes an ongoing backup for your library.
Note if you have iOS devices and haven't moved your contacts and calendar items across then you should create one dummy entry of each in your new profile and iTunes should  merge the existing data from the device.
If your media folder has been split out from the main iTunes folder you may need to do some preparatory work to make it easier to move. See make a split library portable.
Should you be in the unfortunate position where you are no longer able to access your original library or a backup then then seeRecover your iTunes library from your iPod or iOS device for advice on how to set up your devices with a new library with the maximum preservation of data.

  • Photoshop CC - Missing Tool Presets

I have just wasted over 2 hours with the adobe 'Customer Care' people trying to find out why I get the message 'No Tool Presets Defined for Current Tool' and this included them remote connecting to my iMac via 'TeamViewer'. The person concerned then sent me links to tutorials on the use of the Spot Healing Brush but they were no help whatsoever and CustomerCare have been unable to solve my problem and, to add insult to injury, the so-called 'care' expert, closed down our Chat without explanation. Fortunately their system has automatically sent a transcription of the chat.
    Anyway, to explain the problem:
I opened an image (.dng) in Bridge which then automatically opens CameraRaw. I clicked on 'OpenImage' which then opens Photoshop. However, when I click any of the tools in the Tools Panel, the Spot Healing Brush as an example, I get the message "No Tools Preset Defined for Current Tool" so no sign of the Healing Brush, Patch, Content-Aware or Red Eye Tools. The Clone Stamp doesn't show Pattern Stamp tool, the Marquee tool only shows the Rectangular tool and so on. This applies whether I click or hover over the tool within the Tools Panel itself or when I click on the downward arrow in the Options Panel for the tool in question. A few of the tools do show some presets but not all of them.
    Please please help
PS. Does anyone know how I can complain to Adobe about a very shoddy example of support?

I'm a windows user so I do not know  the Adobe Photoshop environment on the Mac or the versions of Mac OS.  The only suggestion I could make would then be try using Adobe Cleaner to clean off Photoshop then  install Photoshop  Use the CC Cleaner Tool to solve installation problems | CC, CS3-CS6

  • Import Saved Document Presets from older PS to PS CC 2014

Is there a way to import saved document presets from older versions of Photoshop into Photoshop CC 2014? I have a fair amount of document presets I use almost daily and it'd be a pain to have to enter all of them again to save them.

If you create an action set with just the one action and save the set upload the uploade it to the web and post a link to the .atn file we can download the action and test that on our machines.  You will get feedback from both Mac and PC users. It sound odd that it would work once then fail the second  time. Was Photoshop CC 2014 up before you used bridge menu tools>photoshop>batch the first time or was Photoshop started because you used tools>photoshop>batch.  If is was not up did you try closing PS down before the second batch?

  • How to fill Tool Preset picker?

When I select Custom Shape Tool, the Tool Preset picker on the upper right is empty despite the fact that there are a few dozen Custom Shapes loaded as can be seen in the Preset Manager. But how do I get those loaded shapes to appear in the picker?
If I go to the Tool Preset pickers' flyout and select Load Tool Presets and navigate to .csh shape files, they appear light gray, ie, they cannot be opened/loaded.
With no shapes in the picker, I know of no way to access the Custom Shapes that are loaded as seen in Preset Manager.
    Any help appreciated!

    Thanks!
Btw, what's "my manual"? The box CS5 came in contained no manual. When I select Ps from Applications, it lists a number of folders and a Read Me pdf file, but no manual. I'm sure that's a totally stupid quesiton, but then that's my kinds quesiton!

  • Moving a system from MSSQL 2000 to MSSQL 2000 IA64

    Hi
We have a R/3 Enterprise 47x110 system running on MSSQL 2000/windows 32 bit. We want to change our hardware to 64 bit. According to platform availability matrix, we have to use mssql 2000 ia64/win2003 ia64 with this release. We want to know which procedure has to be used for moving a system from mssql 2000 32 bit to mssql 2000 ia64?

    Hello
Migrating an SAP system from Windows SQL IA32 to Windows SQL IA64 is a fairly simple procedure.
I have performed this migration myself several times.
You need to ensure that your source system (IA32) has the required support pack levels for SQL 2005
    I recommend you review 905634, 151603 and 683447.
I would strongly recommend that you move directly to SQL 2005 rather than SQL 2000.  SQL 2005 is fully supported and offers a lot of performance and administration features (such as snapshots).
SQL Data files are compatible between SQL platforms. By this I mean if you do an sp_detach on an SQL IA32 system you can sp_attach them to an SQL IA64 system without any special action.  The files are also compatible between SQL versions, you can detach from SQL 2000 and attach to SQL 2005.  This is described in section III of 799058.
    In your case I would:
    1.  Make sure you support packs are up to date on source system
    2.  Make sure you are using the correct collation 600027
    3.  Install 4.7 on your IA64 host from the install CDs
    4.  Update your IA64 system kernel to the correct level
    5.  Detach the "empty" DB from the IA64 host
    6.  Shutdown your IA32 system, stop SQL, start SQL and then stop SQL
    7.  Copy the datafiles and log files to the IA64 system
    8.  Attach them to your IA64 SQL 2005 system
    9.  Run the SQL Tools utility
    10. Start up your 4.7 instance
    11. Check SM21, ST04, SICK and DB02
    12. Reschedule your backups and DBCC
This procedure should work and should be quite simple to implement.  You can leave you IA32 system untouched, so if you experience any problems you have a fall back position (ie. just restart your IA32 system - nothing has changed on you IA32 system or its database).
I recommend you obtain the official SAP SQL 2005 CD, it includes SP1 and has a useful script call SQL4SAP.VBS that sets a lot of options for you automatically.
Check 879941 - you may need to adjust the torn page setting and auto_update_statistics_async settings or you will get red alerts in your CCMS tree.
For other people out there who use Java systems (EP, XI etc) you <b>will almost certainly</b> have to update your JDBC drivers. See note 639702.
Hope this helps, let me know if you have any questions.
    Goodluck

  • Upgrade Photoshop from CS2 to CS3 in Macintosh

I am currently using Photoshop CS2 Mac version and DO NOT have CS3 beta version installed. I have couple installation questions whose answers are hard to find anywhere else, hope I can find them from this forum.
Since I heard a lot of troubles regarding upgrading PS from CS2 to CS3 if there is CS3 beta version already installed in Mac, I am a little be nervous. Here is my questions:
    1. Can CS2 and CS3 co-exist?
    2. Do I have to manually uninstalled CS2 prior to upgrading? If yes, how do I do it? I am assuming that CS3 upgrade should have a program to uninstall previous versions of PS, am I correct?
    3. How do I deal with my current registration?
    4. I have third-party plug-ins such as OnOne Mask Pro 4.0, nik Color Efex Pro 2.0 installed in CS2. What's the right procedure I should take to avoid their re-installation?
    5. I also have Lightroom installed now, will CS3 upgrade affect it? Do I need to take any action?
    Thank you very for help!
    Regards,
    Howard

    Patrick,
Welcome to the Macintosh. Glad the transition has worked well for you. A few quick points, here:
    1. Download the combo update to Mac OS X 10.4.11 from the Apple site.
    2. Any software that came from the previous owner must be Apple software that is included with the operating system; or, if other Apple or third party software (including Adobe or Microsoft), it must have a valid license that has been transfered to your name and you must have all discs. Otherwise, it must be deleted in order for you to be legal.
    3. The best current utilities for maintaining and optimizing your computer include: Apple's own Disk Utility (on your Mac OS system disc); Alsoft DiskWarrior; and Maintain Cocktail. Other very good tools include: Roxio Toast (for disc burning); SuperDuper! (for complete system backups); and FontAgentPro (for organizing and maintaining large numbers of fonts). Whether you just print family snapshots or you do four-color commercial printing, you need to calibrate your monitor. Look into the Spyder3 or EyeOne calibrators.
Also note that it is important to repair permissions and run DiskWarrior when you install or upgrade any software on your system. As the specifics of these have been detailed numerous times in this forum, I recommend that you do a forum search for the details.
    4. If you already have installed CS2, then you only need to purchase the upgrade version of CS3.
    I hope this helps!
    Neil
