Moving transport from Lower ERP Version to Higher ERP Version?

Hi All,
I got a quick question regrads to Transporting object frpm ERP 6.0 SP 13 and ERP Ehp 4.0 SP 3.
Currently, We went Go-live with ERP 6.0 with SP13, as part of Release 1 Landsape.
ECD ---> ECQ --> ECP
For release 2, which is starting in few months, we are planning to Build a Project Landscape seprate from Support landsacpe.
ECD --> ECQ
   |                  -
>     ECP
E2D --> E2Q
2 = Release 2 SID name
Our Support landscape will be on ERP 6.0 with SP 13
and Project landscape we wanted upgrade to ERP 6.0 ehp 4.0 with SP 03. To keep the landscape consistent, whatever work we do on ECD (R1 lanscape), we would like to import to R2 E2D as well, so when we Go-Live with R2 implementation, then our DEV and QA systems will be consitent.
My Question would, can I move/transport object from R1 (lower ERP version) to R2 (higher ERP version)?
My answer is BIG-NO, since version and objects are differenent, all transport will fail.
I want to hear what you Experts say about this?
Thanks in Advance
Kumar
Can you
Edited by: Kumar Subramaniam on Jun 5, 2009 7:25 AM

Hi,
As per your query it can be moved but you will face some issue in this, there are two type of trandport 1. workbench 2. customizing. If you want to move customizing then your abaper will check this will be transport, but workbench will have some issue due to variotion of verion. But you transport this in your new dev server and do the configuration again in new dev serve then test in your qac. The job is very tipical but its posible.

  • Export and import from lower db version to upper version

    Hi
I want to export the schema from database version 9.2.0.5.0 and import in to database version 9.2.0.8.0
What parameters I have to consider ?

    Hi,
No consideration required during exp/imp between same version such as 9i here.
Their are different consideration in different versions as ..
    e.g.
In order to export your 11g database and import it back to 9i, you will have to use the exp (export utility) and imp (import utility).
Since you are going from a higher version back to a lower version, this is what you need to do
    1. Use the exp utility of the lower version (in your case, 9i) to export the 11g database
    2. Use the lower version imp utility (in your case, 9i) to import into the 9i database
Imp/Exp utility version should always be similar to lower db version

  • Is transportation from lower version to higher version is possible

    hi all,
WE have BI 7.0 as our development system. we are setting up test servers now. now team wants the test server to be upgraded to BW 7.01. for which i would have to apply enhacement package1. now my question is:
Is transport possible from BW 7.0 to 7.01?will there be any issue with the objects developed in Netweaver 7.0 getting transported in Netweaver 7.01.
Also can you suggest me any links or documents which tells the steps to apply Enhacement package.
    Regards,
    Priya

    Hi Priya,
It may be technically possible but is not supported and is extremely dangerous.
The reason is that you are importing objects between two systems but the state of those objects may be slightly or hugely different depending on the difference  in support pack level between the two systems. Even if they are only at slightly different levels, you would have to be absolutly sure that the objects you are transporting have not changed in the support package levels that are different. not only this but to be sure that no negative consequences could occur, you would also have to be sure that no objects that interact with those being transported, have been changed.
For these reasons it is just not worth the gamble since if an issue DID occur during or after transport, you would most likely have to restore from backup to ensure consistency. Its far better to only transport betwwen systems that are on equivalent support package levels.

  • From Low Resolution Recording to High Resolution SVCD or DVD

I am wondering, if I record from a VHS tape at the lowest resolution onto my hard drive, then use WinProducer/Wincoder 2.0 (bundled together now) to convert it to a higher DVD quality resolution and burn it to a CD, will the quality be at least near what it would have been had I have recorded it as a high resolution file to begin with?
I thank any responses in advance.

    hplsbyufan
The point of recording in low resolution is that it takes less data than high resolution. So if you save something in low resolution you have lost the extra data that was needed to describe the images in more detail.
By way of analogy, if I describe the plot of a film I have just seen (low resolution) you cannot use that description to retrieve the detail of each scene (high resolution).
So, unfortunately you cannot get a higher resolution than that in which you originally recorded it.
    Sorry

  • Moving Transport Set from 9.0.4 to 10.1.2.0.0 environment

    Hi,
I am moving transport set from 9.0.4 environment to 10.1.2.0.0 environment.
But when I import it on 10.1.2.0.0 environment I get the compatibility error,
I am using imp.sh to import. Following error occurs when I try to import:
    Checking for Portal Version Compatibility...
Error: Source and Target Portals are of different versions
    Cannot proceed with Import
Could any one let me know, Is there any way to move the transport set from old version to the new one. Apart from upgrading the old one.
    -Santosh

    Santosh,
No, sorry but there isn't a supported way of doing this.
Oracle Portal only allows you to use the Portal Export / Import between the same level of patching. Trying possible workarounds will lead you in an unsupported state.
The only way as you've said is to upgrade your older version to the same level of the newly installed version, ie, bring your 9.0.4 to 10.1.2.0.x.
Metalink Note:263995.1 - Master Note for OracleAS Portal Export / Import Issues may help you.
    I hope it helps...

  • What r problems came related ABAP/4 work, when upgration from lower version

    Hi Experts,
can i know information about upgration.
what are problems came in ABAP/4 realated development, when upgration from lower version to higher version.
    Best Regards
    jai

    Hi Jayasunderreddy,
I have gone through an upgradation project, which upgrades from lower version to higher version, there are some problem we could find and here are they:
    1) There were some syntax errors for the variables.
sloution) we should relate them with new version variables and change them.
    2) There were some FM to be changed according to the version
    3) There were change in BDC also if the objects having BDC then we have to check whether it is functioning well or not, or the best way is to replace the BDC with BAPI, which is independent of version change, so further no problems if at all the version changes.
Is this information ok..this is what we did for that.
if you are satisfied then award the points.

  • ITunes syncing lower-res versions of photos from Aperture library VS iphoto?

Today I changed my iPad's photo syncing prefs so that it would sync photos from my Aperture library as opposed to iPhoto. To my dismay I've discovered that it appears to be syncing REALLY low-resolution versions of the images compared to what it was syncing in iPhoto. Most of my shots are 21MP, and I understand that when they are synced to an iOS device, they're resized/compressed, but when I was syncing from iPhoto, I was typically able to zoom in to 2x zoom and things would still look good, whereas now that I'm syncing with Aperture, the exact same images appear to have been synced at a lower resolution than the iPad's screen!
This is NOT an issue with offline images or missing masters either.
What gives? This seems to be incredibly backwards as I imagine the majority of Aperture users would want larger versions synced, and iPhoto users wouldn't care as much. How do I resolve this? Can I?

Aha. Well I guess that solves it -- I do have my preview settings super low-res.
That's a really strange/questionable design decision. This means I'm actually better off using iPhoto or manually syncing with folders (I have good reasons for using low-res previews).
    Thanks!

  • Moving a transport from Q/A to Production

I have imported a transport from Development to Q/A.  How do I now import it into production? Thanks

    Niten
After testing objects in QA and if you feel every thing is OK then transport into Production system. This transport also will go directly from Dev to Production but not from QA to Production.
Same Transport number which you moved to QA. You don't have to create other one.
    Hope this helps

  • Organizing data from low to high?

    Hi Community,
I'm totally out of numbers and such, but I need to organize some data from low values to high values automatically, like for example, the earnings in 12 months, which are always variables but I would like to organize them from the lower to the higher. Is there a way to organize this automatically?
    Thanks in advance,

    Mart,
Would sorting your rows by column content do it for you?

    Hi Fabrizzio,
Most of the running total snippets you will find in the forums contains elements like currentmember, prevmember or ranges [A : B] that also refers to members.  Unfortunately the relative position of those elements  are extracted from the hierarchy
level  of the correspondent members as defined in the cube dimensions and not from the ordered (query scope) set.
The usual solution is to define a measure as the rank in the ordered set and take  the cumulative sum with head ():   sum(  head( ordered set, till the rank) , by the value measure ).
If you choose the recursive solution for the running total you could use item() in combination with rank: maybe something like orderedset.item(rank measure) as an ersatz of currentmember.

  • Moving XI transports from QA to Prod server

    Hello,
We are getting ready to send our XI transports from the QA server to the production server.  We are currently using the file transfer method - we have not yet finished setting up the CMS server.
    Now my question is this:
For the Integration Repository, am I supposed to send the same file created from our dev server to the production server, or do I create a new transport file from our QA box and send that file to production?  Same question applies to the Integration Directory.
For example, the FileA.tpz gets created in the dev server, exported to the QA server.  Developers are done testing in QA and want to move the objects to production.  Should I export the same FileA.tpz to the production box OR generate a new transport file from the QA server (FileB.tpz) and send that to production box instead?
    Thanks in advance.

    Joy,
Ideally you should move from Dev  to QA and from QA to Prod. Then everything will be in sync. If you move directly from Dev to Prod and if there any changes then they will not be in QA. So this should not happen.
Because only after developement you will move to QA. Once when you test in QA then you will move to Production from QA.

When you're exporting, set the size in the export window.  LR will up or down size as needed to make the final image that size.

  • Transports from BI7.0 SP18 to BI7.0 SP20

    Hello Experts,
Currently our source system is under upgrade to ECC6.0 from 4.6C, due to this our BI development landscape has changed. after upgrade of Dev system to ECC6.0 and connecting to BI7.0 system throwing an error ( Unicode Error), to correct this SAP recommends to implement SP19, but after analysis we found it may require to implement SP20 correct few issues of SP19 import.
But my concern is, due to our BI7.0 landscape change, our current developments are taking place in another system, but after upgrade our old development system ( This will connect to ECC6.0 and we are planning to implemnet SP19 or SP20) become our development box. So, what ever we are developing in current dev. box, we are moving them to another dev.box to maintain both systems in sync. but our current dev. box is in SP18 and the other dev box, which is become our original dev.system after upgrade will be in SP19 or SP20 or higher. If I transport from a system which is in SP18 to higher, will it supports or give any error?? is it advisiable.
    Please suggest...
    Thanks & Regards

  • Moving Away From Auto Modes

    Moving Away From Auto-Exposure
    Exposure modes
Auto-exposure mode on your camera does provide generally good photographs, but taking full advantage of the more advanced capabilities of your digital camera will provide even better results. Most modern camera’s have a number of preset exposure modes, and some more advanced cameras’ (especially DSLR’s) have two semi-manual exposure modes and full manual exposure control.
      Portrait mode
The most common preset is the portrait setting. This mode should have the flash on at all times in case it is needed for correct exposure, as well as isolating the subject in a way that the background and foreground are out of focus and only the subject is in focus.
    Action mode
Another common preset is the action setting. As the name implies this is a great setting to use if you are photographing sports, or any subject that is moving fast and you want to stop its action.
    Landscape mode
Landscape preset is also a common preset mode on modern cameras. This mode should have the flash off since the subject is most often outside and well lit, and this mode should also keep detail in the foreground and especially the background in focus.
    Macro mode
For those of you that like taking images of small subjects (i.e. flowers) most digital cameras also have a preset called macro mode. Macro mode should have the flash on at all times since at higher magnifications even the slightest movement of the subject will blur the image. The flash not only effectively stops the movement of the subject but also evenly illuminates the subject.
    Night mode
Night mode as the name implies is a preset some camera’s have for taking photographs at night. This mode is generally the least useful preset due to the fact that nighttime photography is perhaps the most challenging photography there is. This mode will turn the flash off, and also turn what’s called noise reduction on. Noise reduction is a setting that helps eliminate the digital noise that is caused by low levels of light on digital camera sensors.
    Semi-manual modes
Most DSLR’s and some more advanced point and shoot cameras have two semi-manual modes and full manual mode. The semi-manual modes are aperture priority which generally controls what is in focus by adjusting the aperture (the size of the opening in the lens), and shutter priority controls how long the shutter is open which either will blur the image or stop action. The last mode is full manual which allows the user to control both the shutter and the aperture to get the correct exposure allowing the greatest creative control over your images, but requiring the most expertise.
    Moving Away From Auto-Flash
    Turn off your Auto-Flash
Most digital camera’s while set on auto-flash, especially point and shoot cameras, don’t allow the user to choose when the flash is on or off. This will usually produce adequately exposed images, but just because your subject is correctly exposed doesn’t mean it’s lighted how it should be. Controlling how you light your subject will make the difference between good images and great ones. To do this you should definitely consider moving away from auto-flash.
    Fill Flash
When shooting outdoors the camera might read that there is enough light and not fire the flash, but if your shooting a subject that is back lit or top lit a small amount of flash will light up your subject and provide superior results ( this is called fill flash ).
    Red eye reduction
Another flash setting that most cameras provide is red eye reduction. This setting will fire a series of flashes at your subject to contract their pupils so the flash doesn’t reflect the red from their retinas back to the sensor. This mode works fairly well, but due to the time needed for the pre flashes your subject often will have changed by the time the image is actually taken.

    Hey Gabriel,
You don't have to feel sorry.
I'm sorry that you feel sorry to people who dislike your products.
Could you tell me how to precompile JSP files and deploy? And, I would like to turn off JSP compilation functionality on live servers completely.
What's the benefit of using database pm? I'm aware of tarpm bug where it deletes data tar files during tarpm optimization and index merge. Does databasepm have the same problem?
If I use databasepm, can I be free from regular maintainance such as datastore garbage collection, tarpm optimization..etc? I find it very difficult to run such maintainance scripts on a live server where the repository is heavily utilized 24/7.
I wouldn't mind shutting down the server and run those maintanence offline. Actually, it would be much better if I could run through maintanance offline.
Also, I heard that there is a bug for share nothing clustering for CQ5.4. I'm not sure if this is jackrabbit bug. If CQ instances are all clustered and I can take one out at a time for offline maintance, it would be superb.
And, what about backups and restoration? Why aren't there set of maintenance scripts? There are documentations with script snippets on knowledgebase... But why aren't there official maintenance tools?
And, where is a book? There are documentations that explain what dispatcher is, what repository is, how to develop custom components, how to configure repositories, ... etc. But why isn't there a book that covers architecture for production site, application development practices, maintenance know-hows?
Does this all mean that Adobe does not care for CQ, and it will not pursue CQ as a viable technology stack for ADEP WEM? (which will be an excellent news by the way).
Or is it Adobe's scheme to monetize support  (less publicaly available documents/books.. more support tickets)?

  • How to do Transports in Microsoft bpc version ? is there any transports?

    Hi all,
I am new to Microsoft Bpc version, is there any transports ? for microsoft?
And how the changes are moved from development to quality and from quality to production.
Can anyone brief me about it
    Thanks
    Pooja

    Hi,
In accordance with the above responses provided by the experts, BPC MS doesnt support transports. The MS version doesnt have the lifecycle management.
At the initial phase, when the application set needs to be migrated to the production system, you can take a backup in the dev system and manually copy the backup files to the production system and then restore them using the BPC manager.
At the later stages, if you want to transfer few of the changes, taking backup once again might be troublesome, because in that case, the transactional data in the production system will be overwritten by the backup. In this case, you need to follow a different approach.
Few of the objects like the member sheet, script logics, reports, etc are stored in the webfolder. These can be directly copied to the production box. Apart from these, the BPF related stuffs, work status, etc are not stored in the webfolder. These are stored in the tables. So, either you need to make these adjustments explicitly in the production box or you can export and import these tables in the production.
    Hope this helps.
