Moving User Profiles between Domains

I have a Windows 8.1 Enterprise joined to a Domain and I need to change it to a new domain.
I have a program called "Profwiz" that allowed me to move user profile from one user domain account to the new user domain account on Windows 7 machines.  It made the whole move easier.
Is there a solution to accomplish the same function with Windows 8 Units.
Help would be appreciated.

Hi Wayne,
To migrate the User Profile, you may consider one of the two tools:
USMT or ADMT.
For USMT, see:
User State Migration Tool (USMT) Technical Reference
For ADMT, please check:
Managing Users, Groups, and User Profiles

  • Moving user profiles from Server 2012 with RDS services to User profile disks Server 2012R2

Hello i have a question about moving my C:\users profiles.
My current settings on the servers are:
    AD-Server 2012
    SQL-Server 2012
TS- server with RDS roles (RDwebacces, RDs broker, RD session host) 2012
everything about user profiles is now in C:\Users
My new settings for the server will be:
    AD-ActiveDirectory - server
    SQL-Server
TS1- RDS (RDwebacces, broker, RDS server group management) 2012R2 (I have enabeld userProfileDisks to Filesistem server)
    TS2- RDS(Session host) load balance 2012R2
TS3- RDS (Session host) load balance 2012
FileSistem - server ( here i will have on E: partition the new functionality UserProfileDisks) 2012R2
So is there a way to move profiles from TS - C:\Users to FileSistem - E:\UserProfileDisks
I am new to this so any idea wil be helpful.

    Hi,
If the UPD is configured on the server which holds existing user profiles, just select the option:
store all user settings and data inside the profile disk.
Since you are moving user profiles between different servers, then user profile contents need to be migrated manually.
    Best Regards,
    Amy

  • Share a Single user profile between machines? more one user sign in?

Is they any reason why this would be bad beside all setting and my docment profile etc be the same folder or would it be ie supported better to create profile for every machine login?   they will only be run one program
    Andy A

You used to be able to create a mandatory profile, which would essentially be a profile per person but locked so it cannot be edited.
I don't believe you can share a single profile between multiple people ie (one c:\users\ folder).

  • Crawl Log. User Profile path Domain/username instead of Domain\Username

We have a SharePoint 2013 Installation RTM with March 2013 CU installed.
During Profile, MySite Setup we found an interesting Issue. In the SPS3://mysite crawl log, the URL of the crawled Content is
http://MySite/Person.aspx?accountname=contoso/johndoe. As you can see, the Syntax for the Domain Name is wrong. If you click on this URL, the error is User can not be found.
So what is going on wrong in here?
    Any idea?

This also shows in my crawl log like this.  It has nothing to do with whether it was successful or not (shows like this for success or failure).
Normally, any crawl errors will have nothing to do with the site, but something about the properties or the UPS not working.  No reason to navigate to the site itself.  Why do you need to click on the link?

  • Moving user profile from Ubuntu

I have a year-old worth of settings profile in Ubuntu. I would like to now use it in Arch.
The profile (and others) is on it's on partition and, apart from settings, there is one folders in it amounting at 300gb of data.
I know how to mount the partition as home, however, I am not sure if I just add this user as a new user in Arch, there are going to be some conflicts with applications I install. Will the settings of programs that are not yet installer on arch remain when I install them?

Personally, I would recommend starting with a fresh home folder.  As you configure each program you're using, you can try copying its config folder from your old home folder, or portions of it.  This way you will avoid importing conflicts and problems, as well as files not needed in Arch.  Ubuntu does do things a little differently.  Otherwise you may encounter problems in Arch that are really do to Ubuntu's files, but you may not realize the source of the problem.
Firefox's ~/.mozilla folder could be copied from your old home folder, but this is an example of importing potentially unwanted things.  Ubuntu modifies Firefox for commercial reasons related to tracking your searches, and also installs a custom extension.  Last I knew you couldn't remove this extension (without brutal editing), you can only disable it.  Thus I recommend configuring Firefox fresh.

  • Choose User Profile

Iv been using FF on my lappy for years, now suddenly, when I try to start FF it asks me to select a user profile between the following options: -
    - default
    - default-<number>
This has annoyed me to no end, its bad enough that FF does update checks and installs on startup, but now this????
Has it occurred to FF developers that when users pop open a browser we need it to snap open, we dont always have ridiculous amounts of time to wait for it to start. What if Im checking the bus timetable - Id miss the bus. Or the times Iv been in conference and needed a quick webpage - embarrassed! So many times Iv need FF and she couldnt be there for me in time. If I wanted a massive delay and/or additional tasks between clicking open and it opening then Id of course look for some ridiculous adobe product instead.
Anyways as much as I love and adore FF I have sadly closed her because of this, and will use Chrome instead. Ill check every now and then to see if the Choose User Profile error has gone away.
    Thanks for breaking my heart.

My suggestions: Initially let's keep it simple instead of editing profiles.ini directly use the profile manager dialogue that is appearing.
    * Please confirm Firefox actually works ok ?<br />(Other than offering you a choice, and a slow startup.) You are able to progress past the profile choice and use Firefox as a browser ?
    * Have you identified differences between, and tried Firefox with both of the profiles ?
    * You need to decide which profile you need to keep. Unless they are very close copies/clones they will differ in for instance the bookmarks & login details they provide. (Will include; potentially years of; History also)
    * From the profile manager dialogue you should be able to choose which profile to use AND then choose not to ask in future.
That is the simplest and safest way of dealing with this problem. If that method does not work something is going wrong. As mentioned by ''cor-el'' possibly security related software is aggressively ''protecting'' against settings changes.

  • Configuring group policy for user profiles in Windows Server 2012 R2 Domain

Requesting some experts advise on configuring group policy for user profiles.
We will be building new Windows Server 2012 R2 Domain Controllers (Domain of 400 users).
The settings which I am concerned:
    1. Folder Redirection: Desktop, Documents, Favorites.
    2. Quota for Folder Redirection - 1 GB per user.
    3. Map a networked drive - 1 GB per user.
    4. Roaming profile - (Will ignore if it does not suit our requirement).
The question is how outlook profile will be retained / automatically moved if the users move from once computer to other?
FYI, E-mails hosted on MS Office365 and OST file size of few users more than 25GB. So, in case the user moves from one computer to other, the entire mailbox will be downloaded via internet. This consumes high bandwidth if more than 3-4 users shift per day.
Thanks a lot for your valuable time and efforts.

    Hi,
    >>The question is how outlook profile will be retained / automatically moved if the users move from once computer to other?
This depends on where our outlook data files are stored. If these data files are stored under
drive:\Users\<username>\AppData\Local, then these files can’t be redirected, for folder redirection can’t redirect appdata local or locallow.
However, regarding your question, we can refer to the following thread to find the solution.
Roam outlook profiles without roaming profiles

In addition, regarding how to configure folder redirection, the following article can be referred to for more information.

When i check this properties i can see the same in exchange user properties in X400 address.

  • Old Domain Name showing in User Profiles

Sharepoint User Profile Sync is showing some users with our Old Domain name (from years ago).  This domain name is NOT  in our Active Directory.  I'm guessing that the profiles that show the old domain name must have been in our Sharepoint
2007 and got ported over when we upgraded to Sharepoint 2010.
This is causing conflicts and some workflows not to work (ones where its looking up a user's profile).  And when I look in Microsoft Forefront Identity Manager, there are some users listed with this error: Exception while trying to migrate user "abc\johndoe"
to "xyz\johndoe"..  Microsoft.SharePoint.SPException: The user does not exist or is not unique.......
("abc" being the old domain name...and "xyz" being our current domain name)
I'm wondering what is the best way to get rid of the old domain name in our Sharepoint 2010 user profiles?  Should I update them in the User Profile database in SQL?
Does anyone know how to fix this?
Also, in Central Admin under Health monitoring, we have this message
"People search relevance is not optimized when the Active Directory has errors in the manager reporting structure. In Active Directory, only company leaders should have the 'manager' property set to NULL. As a result of errors, the Active Directory can
incorrectly have the 'manager' property set to NULL for other users that can cause a decrease in people search relevance. By specifying the actual leaders of
the company, these inconsistencies are not taken into account and the relevance problem is corrected.
    Remedy
Specify the company leaders explicitly. Use the following PowerShell
    commands: $upap = Get-SPServiceApplicationProxy [appid]; Add-SPProfileLeader
    $upap [Domain]\[UserName]. Run 'Get-SPProfileLeader $upap' to check whether the
leader was successfully added. As a last step, run a full crawl on the content
source containing the start address (URL) of the user profile application.
Not sure if this is related.
Any help would be much appreciated... thanks!

If Mysite Clean Up job is running then this issue should be fixed(removed all old profiles)  in couple of User Profile Sync( Full followed by couple of Incremental). Basically, FIMs
responsible to mark the user as deleted within the UPA then CleanUp Job purge these profile.
    http://www.harbar.net/archive/2011/02/10/account-deletion-and-sharepoint-2010-user-profile-synchronization.aspx
How many users you are seeing, are they showed in the Profile missing options? if less numbers then you can simply remove the IDs from USer Profile manually.

  • Use old domain controller AD user profile with new domain (profile changed)

    Dear All,
I have built Win Server 2012 for Domain migration from Windows Server 2003 to Windows Server 2012. I have tested all thing on VMware including user creation and tested Domain join using power shell for Win 7 and .VBs batch file for Win XP computers all thing
    are working fine.
Let 1st I introduce my current environment. I have existing Win Server 2003 domain controller (abc.com) with 130 client computers and 200 users I am going to plan migrate my current environment to Win server 2012 Domain (xyz.com) Keep in mind that Domain
name is changed but Domain Controller (Server) names are same i.e MY-PDC . I have tested domain join on multiple computers using existing clone of client computers and create all existing users using .csv file and power shell with required
credentials and OU.I am facing the user profile issue when I join domain and login with existing user which was previously the user of same computer the required profile does not login and computer creates new user profile in Document and Settings section
    of Win XP.
I need your expert opinions because copy old profile data and create new outlook profile for each user is a big headache for any one. Hope you people can understand and help me in this issue.
Please provide best answer and result on priority I will be thankful to all of you.

  • "File History" won't open/start for domain user profile/account

I'm trying to use the File History feature in Windows 8.1 to create backups.  When I click "File History" from the control panel, nothing happens.  No new window opens, it just stays at the Control Page.
I've tried manually going to "Control Panel\All Control Panel Items\File History".
All works fine with local Administrative user profile.
Why does File History not start/open/run for the domain user account that is in the Administrators Group?

    Hi,
Base on my lab machine (Windows Server 2008 R2 DC, Windows 8.1 client). either domain admin user or domain standard user, they all work fine.
What's your environment? Did this issue occur on all domain user or specific one?
In some cases, File History may conflict with the enterprise policies (like retention policy). I suggest you contact your IT admin to see if there is some other policy to limit this.

  • Can't Log Any Users Onto My Domain Except the Administrator Getting The Following Error "The user profile service failed the logon"

    Hi All,
I am currently completing a project for college which involves the creation of a domain, OU's, GPO's etc within a virtual environment.
I am using Windows Server 2008 Enterprise running this on VMware however after having completed and tested all my GPO's now none of my users are able to log on to the domain and keep getting the following error message "The user profile service failed
the logon" "User profile cannot be loaded".
I have tried to a lot of different options prior to posting which include:
Creating a new user account/s in case the previous user policies were corrupt the same error message is shown.
I also configured my DC to allow users to log onto the DC in case this was a network issue but the same error still exists.
My Administrator account always logs onto the DC without fail and applies all the GPO's as it should.
I have rebuilt my servers twice now at this stage and the same problems keep happening at first it was just confined to users within a single OU but now is Domain wide any suggestions on what I can do.
    Thanks,
    John

    John,
Since this is a project, you may have experimented with various settings in multiple Group Policies, so I would recommend you run the Group Policy Modelling Wizard, as it will show you all the GP settings down to a specific user on a specific computer, plus
tell you which Group Policy sets and which settings, and thereby perhaps find where the problem occurs.
Please mark as answer or vote
    as helpful when
    it applies. Thanks!

InDesign keeps crashing ever since I switched the user to a domain profile from a local, what can I do?

He's running ID CS6 on Yosemite, and it is random as of now. No particular thing makes it crash, it just displays that the program has stopped running. However when we switch to his local profile he can work with no issue.

  • Move user profile to new domain profile on same computer

If you want to copy data and most of the preferences, I suggest Fab's AutoBackup 6 Pro.
    http://www.fpnet.fr/

    Hello all
I've been given the tedious task of replacing a server with a new one using a different domain, then rejoining all of the desktops to the new domain.
There won't be any kind of migration, just rejoining desktops to new domain.
Has anyone got any recommendations on what would be the best way to transfer the desktops user profiles from the old domain profile to the new domain profile?
    Any advice would be appreciated.
    Thanks

  • Sharing custom display profiles between multiple users

    Hello,
I'm brand new to Mountain Lion and I can't figure out how to share a custom display profile between multiple users on the same MBP. I'm a photographer and I have two users set up on my laptop - one personal and one for shooting. I'm using a Color Munki to calibrate my external monitor and the software creates a profile.
Previously, I could go into my library, copy the profile and drag it into the colorsync folder for my other user, then switch to my other user and find that profile in system preferences/displays.
I have no idea how to do this in Mountain Lion.

Let me simplify this by refering to User A and User B to represent the two separate users I've created on my MBP.
I've done some more digging and here's what I've found: In the Color Sync utility for User A my custom profile is in a user folder, represented by the name I gave the file when the profile was created. That's no problem
When I switch to the User B, there are two profiles in the Color Sync Utility named "Display". The "Display" file was created at the same time my custom profile was created, however, the file names don't match and I don't know why there are two of them.
I'm fairly certain that "Display" profile is the custom profile I want to use, but there's a problem coming down the road: what's going to happen when I profile my monitor again in 3 weeks.
