Moving website hosting from MobileMe to Godaddy... how to?

Greetings!
I recently created a website using iWeb and hosted it on MobileMe using my Godaddy domain.
I am interested in moving the hosting abilities to the new hosting I purchased on GoDaddy. So far, I have changed most of the settings, I will try and list them all below. The issue I am having is that I publish the entire site (I know it takes some time to reflect) but when I visit the site, I expect to see the stock GoDaddy page without my site for the time being, but what I see is a link to MobileMe.
I changed:
The CNAME from www.me.com or whatever it was to the GoDaddy specs.
The CNAME alias from www.me.com to the @ sign like it requests. Under DNS manager
I just removed the forwarding to www.me.com or mobileme (cant remember -- in any event I removed it) so maybe that will fix it.
Should I have the nameservers set to a hosting account with these domains (which I assume links to my godaddy hosting and domain I purchased) or should I use the specific nameservers that godaddy specified based on the date I purchased the domain -- NS01.DOMAINCONTROL.COM and NS02.DOMAINCONTROL.COM?
Any other thoughts on changes I need to make on the GoDaddy side to complete the transition? Thank you for the feedback!

Its bizarre when I upload the entire site using the option to Publish the Entire Site in iWeb 09, it lets me visit the site and it shows up. But when I go to firefox to try and get to it, it redirects me to MobileMe.
I upload it by logging all of the information on iWeb. Server address, user name (godaddy), password, etc... all of it correct, and the click FILE>Publish Entire Site.
I see now that the name servers option has been clicked on the one indicating a specific nameserver hosted by GoDaddy, which is the option I believe you were having me select. It has been that way overnight, so it never changed.
I am at a loss here why it would show up once, and then redirect me back to mobileme. I removed the forwarding to web.me.com and deleted the domain from my mobileme account too!

    Welcome to the Apple community.
Your address book should have migrated along with your move. If it hasn't go to groups, in "on my mac" group select all the contacts that appear on the right-hand side and drag them to your "iCloud" group.
Once you have done this you can then delete the contacts from your "on my mac" group.

  • Move Podcast from MobileMe to GoDaddy

I know similar questions like this have already been asked.  I've read the various discussion and answers.  I think I know what I need to do, but I want to confirm it here on the boards.  A mistake could very well cost me listeners.
I have moved my site (created with iWeb) from MobileMe to GoDaddy.  Both sites are still live.  Now, I want to change the RSS code on my MM site to point subscriptions to the GD site.  Here is what I understand (thanks to reading Roger Wilmut's info at http://www.wilmut.webspace.virginmedia.com/notes/podcast.html#move):
    1.  In the RSS code (MM site), I need to add the following line of code: <itunes:new-feed-url>NEW URL FOR YOUR FEED</itunes:new-feed-url>
    2.  This code needs to be added between the "channel" tag the first "item" tag.  My first question is: should it be right below the channel and BEFORE the <title> info?
    3.  Now, here is the big question: what exactly should I put in for the NEW URL?  My MM and GD site / podcast information is below.
    MOBILEME SITE: http://web.me.com/markandjill/SW_Miniverse/Welcome.html
    MOBILEME PODCAST: http://web.me.com/markandjill/SW_Miniverse/Star_Wars_Miniverse/Star_Wars_Miniver se.html
    GODADDY SITE: http://www.swminiverse.com
    GODADDY POSCAST: http://www.swminiverse.com/SW_Miniverse/Star_Wars_Miniverse/Star_Wars_Miniverse. html
Any help is greatly appreciated!!  I think I know what to enter for the NEW URL, but I want to make sure I don't make a mistake.  Thank you!

I'm glad you checked, because it looks as if you were about to paint yourself into a corner. You've quoted the web pages for the two versions of the podcast: what matters are the feeds.
The original, MobileMe, feed is at
    http://web.me.com/markandjill/SW_Miniverse/Star_Wars_Miniverse/rss.xml
    The Godaddy feed is at
    http://www.swminiverse.com/SW_Miniverse/Star_Wars_Miniverse/rss.xml
Since iWeb doesn' provide for adding the tag, you are going to do it manually. Please follow these instructions very carefully.
Mount your iDisk on the Desktop (command-shift-i). Open the Web folder, then within that the Sites, folder, then the markandjill folder, then the SW_Miniverse folder, then the Star_Wars_Miniverse folder and locate the rss.xml file. Drag this to the Desktop to download it.
Now open this file in Text edit in PLAIN TEXT mode (not Rich Text which is often the default). Three lines down you will see the <channel> tag. Make a new line beneath this, reading:
    <itunes:new-feed-url>http://www.swminiverse.com/SW_Miniverse/Star_Wars_Miniverse/rss.xml</itunes:new-feed-url>
All one line, no returns within it, and I should copy this line to make sure you get it absolutely right.
Save the file as rss.xml - TextEdit will offer to add .txt on the end - don't allow this.
Drag the file to the Star_Wars_Miniverse folder on the iDisk, replacing the existing one. Leave it severely alone for at least two weeks. Do not publish anything from iWeb to the iDisk or you will over-write it.
You can check that it's worked; go to your iTunes Store page at
    http://itunes.apple.com/gb/podcast/star-wars-miniverse/id326698031
Click the Subscribe button below the image. Go to the Podcasts section: control-click on the line with the podcast name (not an episode) and choose 'Copy Podcast URL'. Paste this into TextEdit - you should see the GoDaddy URL. It will take the Store page a few days to catch up. Subscribers will be automatically redirected to the new feed.

  • Hi, I'm moving my site from MobileMe to Filezilla and there is apparently a coding error on iWeb that means when I try to get onto my site there's no access online and it says there are too many redirects. Anyone have any idea what this might be?

Hi, I'm moving my site from MobileMe to Filezilla and there is apparently a coding error on iWeb that means when I try to get onto my site there's no access online and it says there are too many redirects. Anyone have any idea what this might be?

Well, firstly Filezilla is not a hosting company but an ftp client that helps you upload your site to your new server. You need to purchase a new hosting account first though.
If you have iWeb 09 then you can publish directly to your new host and you select the publish to ftp option and not MobileMe - MobileMe won't be here after tomorrow.
You can also publish to a local folder if want to and use Filezilla to upload your site to your server.
You don't need re-directs as MobileMe won't be here so you need to cancel and delete your domain name from your MobileMe account and then cancel any domain name forwarding that you have at your domain name registrar - that is what the redirects are about.
Firstly ensure that you have your new hostings account - Filezilla is not a host, rather an ftp client that you use to upload your site.

What's the format of your video? That will give you a hint as to what plugin is failing (or missing).
If you don't know, what's the URL of your site - it shouldn't take long for someone to work out the specifics.

  • RSS feed from MobileMe to GoDaddy

    Hello,
Forgive me for asking this queston late in the game, but I previously made the switch from MobileMe to GoDaddy. Could somebody please confirm my new RSS feed with GoDaddy (or maybe I need assistance confirming my old feed)?
    Is the new feed
    http://www.warbirdshow.com/Warbird_Show/Warbird_Show/rss.xml
    Was my old feed
    http://web.me.com/warbirdshow/warbird_show/warbird_show/rss.xml
I don't do a lot of podcasting, but was trying to successfully transition from MobileMe to GoDaddy and save my 7 podcasts.
I realize I'm asking this late in the game, but any assistnce would be greatly appreciated.  Thanks

http://web.me.com/warbirdshow/warbird_show/warbird_show/rss.xml - there is no file at this address.
http://www.warbirdshow.com/Warbird_Show/Warbird_Show/rss.xml - there is a feed at this address.
Your iTunes Store page is http://itunes.apple.com/gb/podcast/warbird-show/id408763490
and it is indeed using the second feed, so you are all OK. Ideally the old feed should have been left in place for two weeks so that any subscribers could be seamlessly redirected when they checked the feed, but it's too late to worry about that. They would be able to re-subscribe from the Store page.

  • Will I lose our subscribers if I move our podcast from Mobileme to GoDaddy?

We currently publish a podcast to Mobileme. Our podcast has a large number of subscribers that we have built up over the past few years.
Problem is that our podcast is constantly being disabled on Mobileme because we are exceeding bandwidth limits and we need to move to a new hosting company (ie. Godaddy).
If we move to a third party hosting company, will this cause us to lose our current subscribers?
    Can someone please advise?

Thank you for this information. I have read it and still have some questions, as I know virtually nothing about how RSS works.
The instructions say that I should "use the <itunes:new-feed-url> tag described in the iTunes RSS Tags section below. The tag will cause the iTunes Store to be updated with the new feed URL, as well as all iTunes client versions that support podcasting".
    My questions are:
    1. Where can I find my RSS feed? I went into my iDisk > Web > Podcast, where I found a file called "rss.xml". Is this my RSS file? Or should I be looking somewhere else? I use iWeb and don't know where to find it.
    2. To be clear, I am only inserting these words: "<itunes:new-feed-url>" into the RSS feed. Nothing more. I don't need to give the name of new hosting company or anything like that? That being so, how does iTunes find where the media files are located?
    3. How do I upload the new RSS feed? Do I "Publish Site Changes" in iWeb, or does iTunes find the RSS feed all on it's own?
Sorry to sound like sound so ignorant, I just find this very complicated and I don't want to lose our subscribers.

  • Moving Away from MobileMe...how?

So I am trying to figure out what to do with my website published through iWeb and MobileMe, since Apple is discontinuing MobileMe and moving everything to iCloud.
Currently, I have a domain name that I purchased through Go Daddy that I have my web.me.com website forward to (or the other way around, I can't quite remember).  I have read this article but I'm still unclear as to what product I will now have to buy to replace MobileMe as the web host.  I want to continue to use iWeb to edit my website and the domain name that I purchased.  Is this what I should be looking for?  Any recommendations for (cheap) hosting welcome. I don't need things like a hundred email addresses or fancy templates, since I'll just be using iWeb (I am using version 3.0.1, but I'm going to have to upgrade to Lion soon).
    Thanks!

I have a domain name that I purchased through Go Daddy...
since there seems to be a few different types and packages
look at godaddy's linux web hosting packages, their hosting can be as low as $4/mth.
linux web hosting provides ftp server on server side, which iweb can upload your site to without extra apps - iweb use panic inc's transmit ftp framework for client side ftp.
    stay away from window hosting.

  • Several Multilingual Websites Hosted from One Console

    Hi All
Hope everyone is well and getting ready for the winter. It feels like it’s already here in the UK.
I have a client who is based in France, Germany, UK and soon to be in Spain. They are rapidly expanding and we are supporting that expansion.
    Website
I have a few questions that need to be clarified:
They currently host the UK website with us:
We are wanting to host the French website from BC but using only one Console – So it will be co-hosted with the UK one.
    Is this possible?
    Can we create separate directories?
The various owners of the websites require the console to be in their native language (English, French, German and Spanish). When they log in using their email [email protected] or [email protected] can we point them to the native language?
Would it be easier to create the sites separate with individual accounts?
    Email
If the users require several email address in UK, FR, DE and ES can it still be managed from one console and the emails go to the correct users? All the domains would be going through the BC console in a single hosted setup for multiple websites (if this is possible)
I would appreciate any answers or help people can provide.
    Kind Regards
    Asad Ali

  • Move website hosting from the Office 365 to BC

Hi, i'm trying to help a client to move his website from the Office 365 hosting to BC, but we want to continue to manage the email in Office 365 .
this is the status of the domain,  anyone can suggest me the right procedure ? since i didn't find clear info and i don't want to have problems later with my client.
    thanks in advance

you can try using third party tools to do the content migration between the sites in office 365.
    Check MetaVis http://www.metavistech.com/category/tools-office-365
    ShareGate is another tools http://en.share-gate.com/features
Interms of 5000 limit its threshold limit not the actual items in the list.
Check the below article for list limits, the below one applies for SharePoint online as well(http://office.microsoft.com/en-001/office365-sharepoint-online-enterprise-help/sharepoint-online-software-boundaries-and-limits-HA102694293.aspx#_Toc355079915)

    Hope this helps.
    P.S. I haven't tested above tools.

  • Moving iweb site from mobileme account...

Our hard drive failed last night. Therefore our site is also gone. I know you can save the files from one computer and transfer to another to edit your site. Is there ANY way that it can be saved from the mobileme and then transferred to another computer with iweb?

Yes, we took it to two different people this morning. Hard drive "clicking" = very bad! We have to hire a professional drive saver to get anything back. We'll contact Apple (again). It is under warranty, but once we send it in to them they take the old hard drive and will not retrieve any files. We have to retrieve the files first. Thanks for the help. I kind of knew what the answer would be- but thought I would ask in case there was some magical trick!

  • Temporarily moving RDSH Host from Farm

    Hi,
I have four 2008 r2 rdsh hosts in a load balancing remote dektop farm.  I need to install software on each of the servers and don't want users to be able to log in from the network while I am doing this(although I would still like to be able to log
in as users profiles to the RDSH server).  Is there a way for me to temporarily remove an rdsh server from farm so I can do this?

    That approach probably won't work.
You'll want to backup the original site, change the URL so it's free for re-use, then restore the site collection into the new Web Application with the relevant URL. Most of those steps are described here:

  • Any PRO in moving to iCloud from MobileMe before 30 June 2012?

    CON:
    - need for Lion on old mac machines (besides the money, I'd rather wait for next its debugged release)
    - ios5 and Lion slowing down existing (older) machines, including old iphones
    - some of my Apps may not yet work with ios5, as well as some software with Lion)
    - Itunes match not yet operational
    - loose access to Gallery and iDisk (is it so?)
    - not yet syncing documents
    PRO:
    - iMessaging
    - Find myfriends

Your calendar will not sync with iCloud using Snow Leopard, though you may be able to get it working using an unsupported hack.
A good third-party solution is BusyCal, which is an iCal-like calendar application with extra facilities: it can sync with the iCloud Calendar while running on Leopard, Snow Leopard or Lion. It can also sync over a local network, so if everyone is on that you can manage without involving the internet at all. A single user licence (two machines allowed) is $49.99 (see note below)*
You will need to set your Mail application up manually to access iCloud email.
The situation with iCloud and Snow Leopard is listed in detail here:
    iCloud and Snow Leopard
*BusyCal say: ''Business Purchases — Businesses should purchase multiple Single User Licenses, not Family Packs. When purchasing multiple Single User Licenses from the BusyMac Store, a 20% discount is automatically applied on purchases of five or more units, and you will receive a single serial number that may be used on each licensed computer.'

  • Changing from MobileMe to new web host

    Hi
I have been running 2 small websites, created in iWeb and hosted by Mobile Me (but originally the domains were bought from another provider).
I'm in the process of changing hosts from MobileMe back to the original provider, before moving on to iCloud.
My new hosting account has been set up and is ready for upload and configuration.
    So...
I'd like to know please, how do I upload my website to the new provider?
Do I go into my MobileMe account/Personal Domain/Remove Domain?
I'm nervous to click on "Remove Domain"- is it a DELETE button (and I loose everything), or is will it open a new window with directions/instructions?
    Thanks
    A

Thanks, I feel I'm getting closer!
I should also have said that we have a family MobileMe account - with 3 different user accounts, each set up for the 3 different websites (presumably I log on to MobileMe 3 times, once for each account?).
    1. Once I remove the CNAME do I write anything in it's place?
    2. When I do go into my MobileMe account, and I click on "Personal Domain" in the left hand column, I don't get a "Disable" button, only a "Remove Domaine" button - is this what you mean?
