Moziila tries to install on my machine as an update

I have an issue that I can't seem to sort out.
I am on my work computer where I am not permitted to install Mozilla Firefox. For some reason I keep getting updates via Windows Update for Firefox. Which is a bit strange in itself.
I don't have Firefox installed and have no idea why it keeps asking me to install it via Windows Update. It continues to download updates even though I tell it not to.
Of course the question is why is this even happening?

if you installed and removed/uninstalled the Firefox.
its won't remove fully.
follow the steps to remove completely.
Turn off the windows updates in Computer Management > Services > Windows update/ Auto update

You can get the updates for the MAC from Adobe - Acrobat : For Macintosh, but apparently you already found that. Two possibilities that I can think of: 1. You have anti-virus enabled and that is causing the failure or 2. You are trying to install an update and skipped ones before it. If you start with the latest update, the download indicates the previous version required for the update. It looks like 10.1.12 can install over any previous version, so I would go for broke and install the latest.

I'd like to use iPhoto '09 with Lion. Tried to install from time machine back-up no go. Tried to install from iLife '09 DVD no go.

I'd like to run iPhoto '09 on Lion. Tried to install on Lion from Time Machine backup. Got message iPhoto won't work because of a missing Library file. Tried to install iPhoto '09 from iLife '09 DVD. Got message that it cannot be installed on my system. iMovie runs previous versions and iTunes runs previous versions.
Why can't iPhoto run on Lion? My wife has over 10,000 photos in her library and she's taken the time to sort them into folders. I've recovered the library with the folder sort but have to use it on an external drive with a Snow Leopard system on it. The latest iPhoto ('11) has no provision for organizing into folders. I'd really like to have everything in one place with one OS (Lion) and two iPhoto apps '09 and '11 and I suppose 2 photo libraries. I tried to check the Library setup on iMovie and iTunes. The iMovie Libraries seem to be part of the applications and my iTunes applications have become Russian so I have another problem. I tried to install iPhoto '09 again from my iLife '09 disk. When I selected "Custom Install" to load iPhoto only, the box I got said " A later version of this application is already installed" The iPhoto item which I would choose for a custom install says "skip". Yesterday I ignored this and went on with an install. The final screen said "Installation Successful" There was no iPhoto '09 on my hard drive. As far as I can tell, you cannot load iPhoto '09 from a Time Machine backup. There is no Lion compatable iPhoto '09 in the App store, and iPhoto '09 will not install onto Lion from the iLife '09 disk.I don't understand exactly what you mean by "load my backup and convert again" Do you mean go to the app store and access my purchases and re- download iPhoto '11 and reinstall it and re-convert my iPhoto library? I suppose what I should have done originally was to duplicate my iPhoto '09 library and put it on an external drive for safekeeping. Who knew it wouldn't install on Lion from Time Machine? When I downloaded iPhoto '!! from the app store I should have duplicated it and saved a copy to an external hard drive for safekeeping and then proceeded with installing iPhoto '11 on my hard drive.I suppose when the Thunderbolt concept is fully realized and monster Thunderbolt external droves are in common use this will seem a lot easier. I have rebuilt my iPhoto '09 library and have it on a hard disk that has a bootable copy of Snow Leopard and a working copy of iPhoto '09 also. Trying to install on new machine

I have tried installing multiple times and continue to get the message, cannot connect to the download server. Have tried everything I can find, disabling, antivirus, firewall, downloading the install files from another machine. Tried downloading full install and it fails download.
Any help would be appreciated.

HT5146 I'm trying to install Logic Pro 9.1.7 update to Logic Pro 9.0.

I haven't used Logic for a while on my studio iMac and need to install the latest update. If I try to open Logic 9.0 it says it won't work with my operating syatem. That makes sense as it won't work with Lion, it was working perfectly before I upgraded to Lion a while back so I know it's installed correctly. If I try to install the update to 9.17 it says it can't find Logic Pro in the Applications folder, and needs Logic 9.0 or higher. It's definitley in the Applications folder and starts to open from the dock so why won't the update 'see' it? Can anybody help please?

This is probably the most given answer on this forum:
there are TWO simple, rules for updating.
1. Logic Pro MUST BE in the Applications folder - not in any subfolder within the appilications folder. This seems OK in your case.
2. Logic Pro MUST be called "Logic Pro". 8 letters and 1 space. Nothing more.

I am trying to install the Camera Raw 6.7 update for a Cannon EosX on a Mac, it always fails during the install saying that the administrator is suppressing the update. I am logged into the administrative account on this computer, and can not figure out what is preventing the install from going through.
The laptop is an OS 10.8.5 Mac, using Potoshop CS5.
Has anyone run into this? Any solutions out there?

Trying to install classic system on iMac G5

I just purchased an old iMac G5 with OS X 10.3.9 and I want to install OS 9.1 classic in order to run old programs.
I have the iMac system software CD and the 4 restore CD. I understand that I am suppose to start the computer
by inserting the install CD and holding the "C" key during startup. I have done this and the computer is not starting
from the CD. After startup when running installer I get the error, "Classic cannot update files in "System Folder" on
iMac Install CD because the disk is read-only. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

XPostFacto helps you get around required routines in your Mac's ROMs that are not present on certain older Macs. It is not needed to install 10.2 Jaguar on an iMac -- Apple supports 10.2 Jaguar on iMacs. I have used it to install 10.3 Panther on beige G3s, which Apple declined to support. It works well for what it does, but it is not magic.
Be sure you have updated the firmware in your iMac before trying to install Mac OS X. The firmware updater requires a Hard Drive-based OS 8 or 9 to run, and cannot be run just from a CD.

Mac OS X is BIG. It will install over 200,000 files by default. A Hard drive under 4 GB will probably be too small for practical use. It will probably need more than 64 MB memory just to boot from the CD, never mind actually install. You will undoubtedly need more RAM memory.
The original Bondi Blue iMac makes installing memory particularly complicated. You need to remove and dis-assemble the system unit (containing the motherboard, Hard Drive, and CD) and then remove the processor module and install laptop SODIMMs into slots on the processor card. There is a good step-by-step illustrated manual available on this site, and there may also be a quicktime movie.

I just "updated" my software, installing the Time Machine and AirPort Updates v 1.0
and I instantly lost my Time Machine hard drive, my MBP now says it is not recognizable and will likely have to be formatted. Is this happening to other people? Please be careful installing this update!

*Leopard (Mac OS X - 10.5) seems to be having problems reformatting external drives. This seems to be a common issue on Leopard that is seen on most brands of drives.*
Note: This is not a problem with the External Drive. Rather, it is an issue with the Disk Utility found with Leopard.
Suggestions - If reformatting the drive in Disk Utility fails, there are two options:
Note: If you got to the point where you attempted to use disk Utility to Erase the external drive and it, failed, you may have to take the drive back to a Windows System to repartition and reformat. Click here to launch a video showing how to prepare an external drive using Windows Vista.
Reformat the drive on an older version of Mac OS X.
Boot off of the MacOS 10.4 DVD, access its Utilities Menu and prepare the external drive using Disk Utility
Backup any data first, take the external drive to another Mac, launch Disk Utility and reformat the drive as Mac OS Extended or Mac OS Extended (Journaled).
If another version of Mac OS X is not available:
Open Finder > Applications > Utilities > Disk Utility
Select the external drive and click on the Partition tab
Click on the Current Volume Scheme drop-down menu and divide the drive into 2 (or more) partitions
Click Options. From the Partition Schemes provided, click on the GUID Partition Table radio button. Click OK.
Click Apply. The Partition Disk screen opens.
Click Partition. At this point, the volume dismounts from the desktop and the drive is partitioned and formatted into multiple drives with GUID Partition Table scheme.
Note: When Volumes are created, Time Machine may open asking if you would like to use the volume for backups. Click Cancel to proceed.
When finished, select the Disk Utility from the Apple Menu and choose Quit Disk Utility (recommended)
Relaunch the Disk Utility, select the external drive

I am trying to install software. I keep getting error message: 1008:9,-5000 Access denied Error. Plus: "You don't have enough access privileges for this installation." I have Administration privileges on MY machine. So, why can't I install software on it?

The machine I am trying to install on is a MacBook Pro. The software is for an IRIScan express 2 scanner. It says (and provides a disc containing the software) it is compatible with Mac OS.
In System reqirements it states the following:

a Mac OS computer with a G3 processor.
the operating system Mac OS X version 10.2 (“Jaguar”). Earlier ver- sions of the Mac OS operating system are not supported!
110 MB of free hard disk space.
I have no idea what (nor where to find out if it has) a G3 processor is. My machine has Mountain Lion. Is this "above" or "below" "Jaguar"?

Err... Try VueScan first. VueScan have one-for-all software, Silverfast - lot of modules for specific scanners. If they not have version for your specific scanner - no chances.

I am getting a "setup.exe has stopped working" message when trying to install labview 2011 or 2012 on a windows 7 machine. I already tried running setup.exe as an administrator with the same results. I have Microsoft .NET Framework 4.5.1 installed on the affected machine. Could this be the cause of this issue? Or does someone know the root cause of such error?

Hi - are you getting it at the start of installation, during or after 100% progress has finished?
Is it just LabVIEW you're installing, or is it drivers too, in which case, what was the last large package that was installing at the time?

Sometimes the App Store version doesn't work correctly. In this case, install 10.8.4 with the Combo version > http://support.apple.com/kb/DL1659?viewlocale=en_US&locale=en_US
The Combo installer is the safest way to update OS X, and it allows you to update more than one computer with a single download
