Mozilla Firefox download problem

Hey i use windows xp 32 bit service pack 2 . I tried to download mozilla firefox from internet but was unable to do . I used to get error Unable to Find network what is problem please reply

If downloads hang at the last minute (just before reaching 100%), the cause might be antivirus software which tries to scan the file and during that process hangs the Firefox instance.
In order to fix the problem, try disabling the scanning as follows:
# In the [[Location bar autocomplete|Location bar]], type '''about:config''' and press '''Enter'''. The about:config "''This might void your warranty!''" warning page may appear.
# Click '''I'll be careful, I promise!''', to continue to the about:config page. A list of settings should appear
# Filter the list by typing in the search bar at the top. Type in ''scanWhenDone''. '''You should now find the "browser.download.scanWhenDone" preference'''.
#Double-click on that preference to set the value to ''false''.
#Next, try to download something and see if it still hangs.
Please reply and tell us whether this helped you!

First, as a matter of etiquette, typing ALL CAPS on-line generally indicates that you are yelling at someone. Please use upper and lower case when posting. '''''Thanks'''''
Your User-agent string indicates that you have the latest version, Firefox 4.0.1 installed; to see your User-agent string reported when you posted your question, click on "More system details..." to the right of your original post, scroll to the bottom of that display it shows:<br /><br />

    A little information about anti-virus/anti-spyware.
First rule in using anti-virus/anti-spyware applications/programs: Never have more than one in active/real-time/on-access state checking everything as your are on-line. One can interfere with the other and the result can be less rather than more protection. Check your settings in Spybot and AVG and be sure that only one is set up for active/real-time/on-access scanning. If you have questions about how to check, go to the forums for Spybot and AVG and ask for assistance.
Second rule. No single anti-virus/anti-spyware application is 100% correct, 100% of the time. Some virus-signatures can result in "false positives". However, using Google I found that Spybot and McAfee both added "PBHotbar.SearchAssistant" to their '''''<u>adware</u>''''' definitions on March 9, 2011. (See: https://computersavvy.wordpress.com/2011/03/09/new-spybot-%E2%80%93-search-destroy-definition-update-available-2011-03-09/ and http://www.nutnworks.com/forums/threads/33947-Re-McAfee-Updates ) There may be other firms that added a malware/virus definition for "PBHotbar.SearchAssistant" under another name. '''''<u>Adware</u>''''' is designed to track your on-line activities, in this case your search activity, for the purpose of delivery advertising on pages that you visit. Somewhat benign, but do you want someone silently tracking your internet activity? Your decision as to whether to keep that Add-on.

  • Help unblocking Mozilla Firefox download site.

We just got a Cisco Ironport S160 Web Security device setup and it's blocking us from downloading Mozilla Firefox. If we go to Mozilla.org and click on Free Firefox download, it redirects to http://download.cdn.mozilla.net and says it blocked because it's malware. I tried adding download.cdn.mozilla.net to the Bypass Settings > Sources/Destinations to Bypass Proxy: Allow list and to the L4 Allow list and it's still being blocked. What else can I do to allow this website?

  • Mozilla Firefox Default Font is Segoe UI

My font change to italic then bold so fix it with downloading a font of windows and putting it to the font folder. After that restarted my computer and all font problem are back to normal but in Mozilla Firefox the problem is still there. YouTube title on videos are bold and the font is Segoe UI and when I check the default font in Firefox it is set to Segoe UI. When I change it back to the normal default font Times New Roman and click OK. Nothing happens and when I check it again in the option the default font is still Segoe UI. I tried the reset default on the troubleshooting mozilla and still the default font is Segoe UI. Can't change back the default font to Times New Roman. Need help!

    Hi Sleepingmonster,
Thank you for contacting Mozilla Support. Since you have already reset Firefox and tried to change the default font from bold and the font is Segoe UI to Times New Roman and Youtube is still showing bold and the font is Segoe UI lets troubleshoot.
Check the settings in the browser:
    *Tools > Options > Content : Fonts & Colors > Advanced
Check the font to see if it is working or corrupted:
Check if there are any viruses that may be affecting the font:
    *Microsoft Security Essentials [http://windows.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/security-essentials-download]
Please let us know if this solves your issue! :-)

  • After downloading Mozilla Firefox 4.0 Beta to my desktop I restarted the computer, but I do not receive any prompts to create an account with a Secret Password. How do I set up the account if the prompt never show up?

Several months ago I installed the Firefox Home app on my iPhone to sync the bookmarks that I had on my Windows XP home computer. It has worked just fine until a few days ago. Just recently I was notified that the app would no longer work because of changes that have been made. I have tried to follow the instructions that were emailed to me regarding how to setup the new Firefox Sync add-on, but I am having a problem. After downloading Mozilla Firefox 4.0 Beta to my desktop and restarting my computer, I do not receive any prompts to create an account with a password and a secret phrase, as the instructions specify. How do I set up the account if the prompt never shows up?

Click on the Firefox button then select Options to open the Options dialog. Now go to the Sync panel for the option to setup a new account.

  • Downloaded firefox 5.0.1 last night, worked fine, Turned computer on today, Mozilla Firefox, it won't start. Get error message, Error: Platform version '5.0' is not compatible with minVersion =5.0.1 maxVersion =5.0.1" What do I need to do to fix it?

We downloaded firefox 5.0.1 last night, began working with it. It did fine. After about an hour, I turned off my computer. When I turned on my computer, I click on Mozilla Firefox and it won't start. I get this error message, " Error: Platform version '5.0' is not compatible with minVersion >=5.0.1 maxVersion <=5.0.1" from XUL Runner. What do I need to do to fix it?

The updater wasn't able to update all the files and some were left as older versions.<br />
    Do a clean reinstall.
Download a fresh Firefox copy and save the file to the desktop.
    * Firefox 5.0.x: http://www.mozilla.com/en-US/firefox/all.html
    * Uninstall your current Firefox version.
    * Do not remove personal data when you uninstall the current version.
Remove the Firefox program folder before installing that newly downloaded copy of the Firefox installer.
    * It is important to delete the Firefox program folder to remove all the files and make sure that there are no problems with files that were leftover after uninstalling.
Your bookmarks and other profile data are stored elsewhere in the Firefox Profile Folder and won't be affected by a reinstall, but make sure that you do not select to remove personal data if you uninstall Firefox.

  • When I start mozilla firefox web browser, sometimes I see a message saying that "a Mozilla Firefox is already running, please close it or restart your program", while I don't have one running at that time. What is the problem?

When I start mozilla firefox web browser, sometimes I see a message saying that "a Mozilla Firefox is already running, please close it or restart your system". As a matter of fact, there is no firefox browser running at that time. Since I cannot do anything about it, I have to restart my computer before I can use the web browser, which bothers me dearly. What is the problem?

Plug-in and tasks started by Firefox may continue after attempting to close Firefox. The "X" in the upper right-hand corner closes the Window (same as Ctrl+Shift+W) but even if it is the last Firefox window, it does not necessarily close Firefox .
'''The only proper way to exit Firefox is to use Exit through the File menu''', not the "X" in the upper right corner of last Firefox window.
''Menus hidden: then use Alt+F then X.''

Use the '''Windows Task Manger''' to remove all running firefox.exe in the "Processes"
tab of the Windows Task Manager, then restart Firefox.
"'''Restartless Restart'''" extension for Firefox 4.0 only (2 KB download )
    * https://addons.mozilla.org/firefox/addon/249342/
use to close and restart Firefox after enabling or disabling an extension, switching
to a new theme, or modifying configuration files, then you don't have to worry
about delay or have to look in the Task Manager to see if Firefox is closed yet.
Uses keyboard shortcut "'''Ctrl+Alt+R'''" or a file menu option.
'''Windows 7''' users can use '''Ctrl+Shift+Esc''' to get to the Windows Task Manager quicker than starting with Ctrl+Alt+Del.

  • I've downloaded Firefox 4.0 six times but when I choose About Mozilla Firefox fromt he Help Menu it still shows version 3.6.16 - why isn't 4.0 downloading?

I've keep downloading Firefox 4.0 but I don't think it is working because when I choose ABOUT MOZILLA FIREFOX from the HELP menu, it still show version 3.6.16. I haven't notice any increase of speed either. For quite a while also whenever I click the icon in the lower task bar to start up Firefox, the round cursor icon jumps around rather than rotating smoothly. I've tried many times to contact Firefox but only this morning did I finally find a way to email you. What is the problem that it isn't running smoothly? I double click the icon and it takes forever for Firefox homepage to come on the screen. I usually get impatient while waiting so I click the icon again. So when it does finally show the Firefox Home Page, I usually get 3 or 4 copies of it on top of each other. Why is it moving so slow. I was glad to see the 4.0 version but I can't seem to get it properly installed. What should I do?

    Firefox 4 beta versions install in a separate program folder (e.g. C:\Program files\Mozilla Firefox 4.0 Beta 10) and doesn't replace the current Firefox 3.6.x release.<br />
So both versions are installed and you need to make sure that you click the desktop shortcut with to launch the Firefox version that you want.<br />
If you do not have a shortcut to launch the Firefox 4 version then you need to create one.

  • How can we download Mozilla Firefox 3.6.x?

We are trying to access FAFSA (Federal Student Aid site) and FAFSA has detected a "connectivity with the Browser" problem. It recommends linking to a browser update. For our computer (Windows XP op sys) FAFSA says the suported browsers are 3.5.x and 3.6.x, and provides a link: http://wwwmozilla.com/firefox. When I go there, the available free upgrade is Mozilla Firefox 3.5.13. I downloaded this (I am dialup connection, so it takes a while and perhaps THAT is the connectivity problem, don't know). A week later, Firefox wanted to upgrade and it upgraded my 2.0 Firefox (installed Feb '08). So, now, I don't know whether to download, again, the 3.5.13, in order to connect with FAFSA.
