MOzilla Firefox hangs with every command or website I visit

My firefox hangs up with every website i visit. It takes forever to load pages and stalls all the time. I have cleaned all cache and I have even uninstalled and installed the latest version. I cannot seem to get it to operate like it used to on my PC. I am runnning windows 7 and I double checked my machine for virus and malware.

You may need to remove the Firefox program folder to do a clean install of the new version.
* Download a fresh Firefox copy and save the file to the desktop.

  • Firefox hangs nearly every time I am working in Blackboard.

I teach on line using Blackboard. Since installing Wndows 7 Firefox hangs nearly every time I am working in Blackboard...and this is every day. Firefox doesn't hang on my home desktop using Vista 64. I have all the latest Java updates and have continually queried Blackboard for a solution with no result.

Could you describe the new window in more detail? For example, is it an ad for something, or a login page, etc.
Since this occurs so regularly, I think it would make sense to try browsing for an hour in Firefox's Safe Mode to see whether that makes any difference. This will temporarily disable your extensions, which are the type of add-on most likely to cause mischief.
You can restart Firefox in Safe Mode using
Help > Restart with Add-ons Disabled ''(Flash and other plugins still work)''
In the dialog, click "Start in Safe Mode" (''not'' Reset)
    Any difference?

    Hello

Lightroom boots up fine and thumb nails load quickly however as soon as you attempt to do anything including scrolling it freezers (rainbow wheel) on every task. It takes around 40sec for the rainbow wheel to stop however as soon as you try another function it freezers again.
My Lightroom library sits on an external USB 3 Seagate hard drive (This drive is only two days old)
For the record I have been having the same problem with iPhoto and the new Photos. apple have been working on solving the issues with no result as yet unfortunately.

  • I have been attempting to downloads updates to Firefox, and with every attempt the furthest I get is "connecting to update server". Cannot get past that to the actual download.

I get info from Firefox that updates are available, or I go their website to get the latest updates. When the process starts, I get to a screen that says that I am connecting to the server. Nothing ever gets beyond this screen.

  • Mozilla Firefox comes with Google Start Page, I want old one, can I get it again?

I updated Mozilla to the latest version. However, when I open a second tab I get a Mozilla Firefox Start Page with a Google Search page, instead of the old page which showed the last pages I browsed. Can I get the old page back and how.

hello Nick_Burman, you can either install the [https://addons.mozilla.org/firefox/addon/searchreset/ searchreset addon] to get rid of the problem or manually reset the page that opens on each new tab.
enter '''about:config''' into the firefox location bar (confirm the info message in case it shows up), search for the preference named '''browser.newtab.url''' and double-click & change its value to '''about:newtab'''.

  • When I open Mozilla Firefox, I open the page, the website doesnot load.

When I try to load Mozilla Firefox, the website does not load. I have tried (in order) uninstalling and reinstalling Mozilla, downgrading to Mozilla 6, tried to confirm plug ins but the Mozilla website took forever to find my plugins. Then I tried to reset disable some of my plug ins. Then I did a factory reset of Mozilla Firefox. I don't know what else to do, please help.

Hmm, usually if Firefox can't load a page it will show an error page. Is there a similar "silent fail" if you use a bookmark or use one of the search boxes?

  • Just updated to new Firefox - now when clicking on a website to visit the color of the print no longer changes to indicate that I have visited that site already. How can I get that feature again?

Since updating to new firefox I have lost a very helpful tool. Before, when I clicked on a website to visit, the color of the print would change from blue to purple to indicate that I had visited that site. Now it does not do that so it is difficult to keep track of what sites I have visited and what sites I haven't when looking down the list of possible sites to visit.

Make sure that you do not run Firefox in permanent Private Browsing mode.

  • [FP 11.4 & FF 14.0.1] Firefox hang on every page with flash-content

    Hi at all
I have a problem with the new Flash Player, let me explain it:
We have a windows-domain with software distribution via GPO.
Since update to 11.4 via the msi package (11.3 was previously installed) we have in the meanwhile 3 PCs (all Win7 x32 with FF 14.0.1 and Flash 11.4) with this problem:
    - While loading a page with Flash content, the Firefox simply freezes and have to be killed together with plugin-container in order to work again.
If this happens, ff and plugin-container have 0% cpu-usage. It freezes and does nothing...
If I remove Flash: Web-pages are working, but without flash.
    What I've tried:
    reinstall using flash-uninstaller
    Using "normal" end-user web-installer
Uninstall via Uninstaller and tried 11.3 again
reinstall Firefox, both 14 and 13
Nothing helped to bring Flash-support back.
This happens only on FF, Internet Explorer is working fine...
Can someone give me a hint?

The key here will be to determine what is different between the machines that work and those that hang.  Of all the systems that fail, they are all Windows 7 32bit?
Yep, this issue only happens on Windows 7 32-bit machines, currently 6.
Do you have any 32bit systems that don't fail?
Yep, the most Windows 7 32-bit machines wont fail.
What about hardware, are there similarities here?  Attached devices/drivers?  Software that is running at the time?
These machines are all from DELL. They all have normal hardware, nothing special. Other machines from same type does not affected. Software: All have standard software distributed via Software-distribution (GPO). Only some PCs have special software, but it is not running. No special drives, too.
Maybe try booting Windows in safe mode to see if it still hangs?
Good idea, indeed - I will try this.
We're definitely interested in what's going on.  I'll ask our security and Mozilla folks to see if they have additional clues.
    Thanks!
    EDIT:
Safe mode: Flash is working! (without disabled Protected Mode!)
I've set msconfig now to: Custom system start and deselected the boxes to load systemservices and system start elements.
So, now windows does a non-safe mode boot but no service or element was loaded except the drivers (right?). Flash is not working with this config!
So, whats the difference between safe mode and normal boot with minimal configuration (see attached picture).
Only drivers will be loaded, right? If so, I can exclude the network and graphics driver as source: graphics driver are updated right now and network was working in safe-mode.
    Any new ideas?

  • Unpredictably, Firefox hangs and does not load websites. It can be closed, but will not restart without shutting down the Firefox.exe *32 process via task manager.

This happens during almost every session I am online with Firefox on this computer alone. I have been using FF for years without issue.

Way too complicated to solve the problem of "firefox is already running ....etc." and there must be a more simple solution to this problem which occurs once in awhile.
It seems to me that Mozilla developers can find a better solution and one that allows control-alternate-delete to fix the problem.
Otherwise, it is just resort to the old reboot solution.

  • Firefox hangs with flash

Firefox is hanging, not loading pages or menu commands. Disabling flash solves the problem. I have fresh install of XP with firefox 4 and updated plugins. I have uninstalled flash and reinstalled as suggested in the help with no improvement. I have tried reinstalling Firefox with no results. Just wondering what I should try next

  • Mozilla Firefox problems with the forums

I just spent an hour trying to access the forums when using Firefox 12. It does not display the bar with the New Your Stuff history etc. It updated itself yesterday or the day before and since then it is impossible to use on this forum.
I just had a thought and tried IE9 64 bit and it works OK. Loaded the same url on Firefox and the bar with the welcome username was not there.
It shows that I am logged in under the search box but still asks for me to log in. I even contacted Customer support, but they could not help.
So if you have problems accessing the forum, use a different browser.

I tried to log in on the page and it would not accept my password as I was already logged in to Adobe. A new password made no difference, it still would not accept the password and username. Logging in with IE9 was no problem.
Normally when I click on the adobe forums link on the Dreamweaver help  I am sent to http://forums.adobe.com/community/dreamweaver?lang=en_US  on my default browser - Mozilla. For some days now I have not been sent there, but arrive on the Adobe main page, and have to search for the forums using their search feature. Perhaps there was a crossed or broken link?
However, today for the first time for a while, it seems to be all working fine. I did report the problem to Mozilla, but whether they did anything I do not know at the moment.
I will see if this continues to work properly and report back.
    Best wishes
    Howard

  • Firefox hanging with script error

firefox 20 has been hanging constantly with a different script error depending on the site visited. • I received an email supposidly from Mozilla Firefox Support with a link to fill out a survey. How do I find out if it is legitimate?

I have never seen such a complicated way to report/ask it this survey is actually from Firefox! There should just be a "spam" email address as with other companies where you can forward the email. Even the "gyration" at the bottom of this form to ask a question is a bit much for the average user.

Anything that comes from a @mozilla.org or a @support.mozilla.org domain name is safe. The site is set up to send notifications (like this one) to your e-mail from [email protected] Anything else that you receive that isnt from @mozilla or @support.mozilla is fake.
Also, yes. The survey feedback from our homepage is indeed real. I use AdBlock Plus so I don't see it.
