Mozilla Firefox & iTunes

I'm using Mozilla Firefox on a PC, and the iTunes on my desktop will not allow me to access the iTunes Store. What can I do to fix this. It has given me an error message for a while that reads:
iTunes could not connect to the iTunes Store. The network connection has timed out. Make sure your network connection is active, then try again.
Any advice?

As a first step, I would check to see that you can access the internet normally using Internet Explorer as iTunes uses Internet Options settings to determine how to access the internet.
Then briefly disable your firewall to see if that allows connection. If that works you need to reconfigure your firewall to allow iTunes access to the internet. This sometimes means deleting an existing entry for iTunes and creating a new one.
Failing that, run your Neework Connectivity Diagnostics and paste the result into your next post.
This is available from Help>>Run Diagnostics...

  • Does mozilla firefox cause itunes to stop?

i have already submitted a question re an error 39 appearing after downloading an itune movie on laptop dell windows 6 not 7 vista 1525 using kaspersky and anti-malware-i wanted to add more information- i have recently did a full scan on kaspersky- was fine-
i have read recently that mozilla firefox is not compatible with itunes- i have enabled this in addition to google chrome- internet explorer had security issues-
perhaps that is why error 39 appeared on my screen when i downloaded an itune movie and the movie was interrupted-
Has anyone else encountered this ?
    thanks

  • Subscribe to podcast feeds in iTunes from Mozilla Firefox

In Mozilla Firefox, how can I add iTunes as an application to subscribe to podcast feeds, so that it shows as an option in the drop-down menu of the preview page? I've selected the iTunes.exe file through the "Choose Application" option, iTunes shows as an option, I select it and when I click on "Subscribe Now" iTunes opens but it does not add the new subscription. I am running Microsoft Windows XP Professional Service Pack 3, Mozilla Firefox 3.6.12, iTunes 10.1.0.54 Thank you!

You can add directories to podcast application to use for searching.
Or you can enter the RSS url to add new podcasts.
No directory has ALL the podcasts out there. You need to search and add.

  • I cant get my itunes librairy and mozilla firefox bookmarks to sync. Help?

I cant get my itunes librairy and mozilla firefox bookmarks to sync. Help?

    What?
Well that must be a trick I've missed.
As far as I'm aware, you cannot sync "the iTunes Library" (the media - songs, videos, etc.) with Firefox, since Firefox's bookmarks are the locations of websites that you've marked in order to access them quickly. iTunes doesn't "visit websites". What am I missing, I'm curious to know?
What information, in iTunes, are you trying to sync with Firefox bookmarks?

  • Using itunes with mozilla firefox

Is there a way i could make the itunes connect using only mozilla firefox instead of internet explorer? My internet explorer wont connect to the internet but my mozilla firefox does. ive tried turning off the firewall but it still wont work. please help.

Hi there, I think I had the same problem. My internet explorer wasnt connecting (and so neither was my itunes connecting to the itunes store - "make sure your internet connection is active and try again")but the connection was fine with firefox and google chrome.
So I went onto internet explorer - tools - internet options - advanced - and then clicked "Reset Internet Explorer Settings". Now both my Internet Explorer works again and I can connect to Itunes store.
    Hope this helps.

  • ITunes songs skipping while Mozilla Firefox loading page

Periodically when I am loading a page on Mozilla Firefox, my currently playing iTunes song always skips... does anyone else get this? Or is it just a problem with my computer?

I sometimes get times when Firefox seems to hang when loading a page. During this time I can't even bring up task manager so it does not surprise me that your sound would be affected.

  • Why is Mozilla Firefox app not available in iTunes Canadian store (it is available in Us store).

When attempting to download app I am redirected to US store but then told I must have Us account but as a Canadian I cannot set up Us account.

The only app that has a connection to Firefox is "Bookmarks On The Go" based on the discontinued "Firefox Home" app by Mozilla.

  • Is this compatible with Mozilla Firefox

Thinking of purchasing an iPad.  Is it comptatible with Mozilla Firefox?

Mozilla have not made an app version of Firefox, so no. The iPad comes with the Safari browser (though it's not as sophisticated as on a PC or Mac), and there are other browsers available in the iTunes App Store which are more powerful e.g. Atomic Web, iCab mobile, Opera etc

  • My MacBook Pro won't load any websites on Safari (except this site, Facebook and Google), Opera, or Mozilla Firefox. I already did the "Reset Safari", restarted the computer half a dozen times, and I can't find this alleged "caches.db" file to delete.

My MacBook Pro won't load any websites on Safari (except this site, Facebook and Google). Opera and Mozilla Firefox won't load any sites whatsoever. I already did the "Reset Safari" several times, restarted the computer half a dozen times, and I can't find this alleged "caches.db" file to delete. I virus scanned the computer with Sophos, Avast, and iAntiVirus and it looks clean.

Is iAntiVirus the best virus protection to use for a MacBook?
The best anti-virus protection is your own common sense, and what you already bought and paid for with your Mac. Third party products such as "iAntiVirus" convey no additional benefit, and as you already determined are very capable of causing trouble.
OS X already includes everything it needs to protect itself from viruses and malware. Keep it that way with software updates from Apple.
A much better question is "how should I protect my Mac":
Never install any product that claims to "speed up", "clean up", "optimize", or "accelerate" your Mac. Without exception, they will do the opposite.
Never install pirated or "cracked" software, software obtained from dubious websites, or other questionable sources. Illegally obtained software is almost certain to contain malware.
Don’t supply your password in response to a popup window requesting it, unless you know what it is and the reason your credentials are required.
Don’t open email attachments from email addresses that you do not recognize, or click links contained in an email:
Most of these are scams that direct you to fraudulent sites that attempt to convince you to disclose personal information.
Such "phishing" attempts are the 21st century equivalent of a social exploit that has existed since the dawn of civilization. Don’t fall for it.
Apple will never ask you to reveal personal information in an email. If you receive an unexpected email from Apple saying your account will be closed unless you take immediate action, just ignore it. If your iTunes or App Store account becomes disabled for valid reasons, you will know when you try to buy something or log in to this support site, and are unable to.
Don’t install browser extensions unless you understand their purpose. Go to the Safari menu > Preferences > Extensions. If you see any extensions that you do not recognize or understand, simply click the Uninstall button and they will be gone.
Don’t install Java unless you are certain that you need it:
Java, a non-Apple product, is a potential vector for malware. If you are required to use Java, be mindful of that possibility.
Java can be disabled in System Preferences.
Despite its name JavaScript is unrelated to Java. No malware can infect your Mac through JavaScript. It’s OK to leave it enabled.
Block browser popups: Safari menu > Preferences > Security > and check "Block popup windows":
Popup windows are useful and required for some websites, but popups have devolved to become a common means to deliver targeted advertising that you probably do not want.
Popups themselves cannot infect your Mac, but many contain resource-hungry code that will slow down Internet browsing.
If you ever see a popup indicating it detected registry errors, that your Mac is infected with some ick, or that you won some prize, it is 100% fraudulent. Ignore it.
Ignore hyperventilating popular media outlets that thrive by promoting fear and discord with entertainment products arrogantly presented as "news". Learn what real threats actually exist and how to arm yourself against them:
The most serious threat to your data security is phishing. To date, most of these attempts have been pathetic and are easily recognized, but that is likely to change in the future as criminals become more clever.
OS X viruses do not exist, but intentionally malicious or poorly written code, created by either nefarious or inept individuals, is nothing new.
Never install something without first knowing what it is, what it does, how it works, and how to get rid of it when you don’t want it any more.
If you elect to use "anti-virus" software, familiarize yourself with its limitations and potential to cause adverse effects, and apply the principle immediately preceding this one.
Most such utilities will only slow down and destabilize your Mac while they look for viruses that do not exist, conveying no benefit whatsoever - other than to make you "feel good" about security, when you should actually be exercising sound judgment, derived from accurate knowledge, based on verifiable facts.
Do install updates from Apple as they become available. No one knows more about Macs and how to protect them than the company that builds them.
Summary: Use common sense and caution when you use your Mac, just like you would in any social context. There is no product, utility, or magic talisman that can protect you from all the evils of mankind.

  • Will Mozilla firefox conflict at all with my Macbook Pro operating system?

Will Mozilla Firefox conflict with my Mountain Lion operating system and Safari?

    No, why should it?
Any program you install can contact the Internet, if you don't like the Safari web browser (and many don't) then your certainly free to install a alternative.
Just don't install a web browser from AppStore, because Apple has a 4-8 week delay while they review all apps there, leaving a window of opportunity for your machine to be hacked.
    Security Issues Warning List
Harden your Mac against malware attacks
Apple is notoriously slow in issuing security updates for OS X, Safari, iTunes etc, doing so many months (or in one case 3 years) after being notified of the issue.
    https://krebsonsecurity.com/2011/11/apple-took-3-years-to-fix-finfisher-trojan-h ole/
To install Firefox you'll likely have to head to Apple Menu > System Preferences > Security > General and where it says Downloads select "Anywhere" (you can always turn it back later)
Then visit this page, check the status of your plugins and there also is a download for Firefox on the same page.
    https://www.mozilla.org/en-US/plugincheck/
It will be in your Downloads folder and you open that, double click the installer or package to open it to show the program and drag it to your Applications folder, then from there drag a icon (alias) to the Dock so you can access it quickly.
Firefox has tons of Add-ons, more than anyone else.
    https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/
Plus tons of persona's that dress up the browser
    https://www.getpersonas.com/en-US/gallery/All/Movers/100
It's a customizable browser, there are already many themes others made
    https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/complete-themes/
It also auto updates by itself and the add-ons, security issues are fixed very rapidly and can come out within hours of a exploit being known.
So it gets updated very fast, unlike Safari which is glacial.

  • After logging out of mozilla firefox i cannot log back in to mozilla firefiox , why ?

after logging out of Mozilla Firefox
    I can't log back in
    why ?
    please help me

This just happened to me too. But I've been on iTunes Match for several months now. I've had the problem several times before where ITM says something's "not available at this time; try again later," and at those times I've had to sign out of my iTunes Store account and back in for ITM to work again.
But this time, when I tried to turn on iTunes Match again, I got this error (on my screen right now):
iTunes match is matching a library from another computer. Only one library can be matched at a time. If you continue, the other iTunes Match session will be stopped and this computer's library will be matched instead. Buttons: [Cancel] [Match this computer]
Well, I surely do NOT want to "Match this computer", as I have several thousand songs in iCloud that are NOT on this computer!
    What is going on???

    http://i.imgur.com/IfmyJdq.jpg
    http://i.imgur.com/CZQ8dw0.jpg

  • During the installation of Mozilla Firefox 4.0 on Windows Vista, I received an error message saying that I need administrative privileges to install. Are administrative privileges necessary to install Mozilla Firefox 4.0 on Windows Vista?

The happens when I attemp to install Mozilla Firefox 4.0 on a classified network. Initially when I try to install Firefox 4.0, a screen comes up saying that I need administrative privileges to install. Then when I cancel my logon username/password administrative screen, the installation process lets me continue and I can install the Firefox 4.0 software. I would like to know if Firefox 4.0 might encounter problems later on a classified network if Im able to install the software initially.

hello, when this is happening after you've already updated firefox with your admin account, try to delete the ''updates'' folder and ''active-update.xml & updates.xml'' within the %localappdata% folder of your restricted account like it is described in http://kb.mozillazine.org/Software_Update#Software_Update_not_working_properly
