Mozilla/Firefox setting ACL in admin  specifically aclapplet.html

I have Java 1.5 on a linux machine that is running Mozilla 1.7.3 and Firefox 1.0 I can log onto the admin interface and everything works as it should until I try and set an ACL ... then I get a javascript error that says "java is not defined" ... The hell its not ... I run applets all day on other sites .... The offending javascript code is
if (navigator.appName == 'Netscape')
parent.arch = java.lang.System.getProperty("os.name");
else
I can use IE ... but thats like kissing an ugly girl ... its ok unless someone sees you.
Any help on this would be appreciated.

I am running 6.1 I thought from JES 2004Q2 ... does anyone have a URL for SP's ?

  • After downloading Mozilla Firefox 4.0 Beta to my desktop I restarted the computer, but I do not receive any prompts to create an account with a Secret Password. How do I set up the account if the prompt never show up?

Several months ago I installed the Firefox Home app on my iPhone to sync the bookmarks that I had on my Windows XP home computer. It has worked just fine until a few days ago. Just recently I was notified that the app would no longer work because of changes that have been made. I have tried to follow the instructions that were emailed to me regarding how to setup the new Firefox Sync add-on, but I am having a problem. After downloading Mozilla Firefox 4.0 Beta to my desktop and restarting my computer, I do not receive any prompts to create an account with a password and a secret phrase, as the instructions specify. How do I set up the account if the prompt never shows up?

Click on the Firefox button then select Options to open the Options dialog. Now go to the Sync panel for the option to setup a new account.

I have problems with seeing my bookmarks, file, view, edit...buttons. I tried other shortcuts. I noticed that all of my bookmarks are located in the Internet Explorer browsers, how can I restore setting back to Mozilla Firefox?

Is the menu bar missing (the one containing File, View, Edit etc)? If it is, the following link shows how to restore it - https://support.mozilla.com/kb/Menu+bar+is+missing

  • How I can set my default browser mozilla firefox from the command line in Windows 7?

I need to set my default browser mozilla firefox from the command line, ie without using the GUI.

'''-setDefaultBrowser''' is the correct command - you need the two capital letters.
Why Firefox 17.0.1? You would be missing a number of important security updates. Firefox 17.0.'''9''' is the current ESR release version.

  • If I uninstall and reinstall Mozilla/firefox, why do ALL the previous setting return? I want a clean and fresh setup

    All previous setting appear.

Are you sure you want to get rid of everything? To set up a clean folder ''in parallel'' to your current settings folder you can:
    '''Create a new Firefox profile'''
''This is in addition to and does not replace your existing settings.''
A new profile will have your system-installed plugins (e.g., Flash) and extensions (e.g., security suite toolbars), but no themes, other extensions, or other customizations. It also should come with completely fresh settings databases and a fresh cache folder.
Exit Firefox and start up in the Profile Manager using Start > search box (or Run) -- type or paste the following and press Enter:
    firefox.exe -P
    ''Don't delete anything here.''
Any time you want to switch profiles, exit Firefox and return to this dialog.
Click the Create Profile button, assign a name like March27, and ignore the option to change the folder location. Then start Firefox in the new profile you created.
You can use the Library dialog (Ctrl+Shift+b or "Show All Bookmarks") to access the Restore feature. The trick is knowing where to find your bookmark backups in your regular profile. After clicking Choose File... you can paste this into the file name space and press Enter to drill down to your profile folders:
    %APPDATA%\Mozilla\Firefox\Profiles
The semi-randomly-named folder that has your last backup is usually the one ending with "default". Click into that one, then into the '''bookmarkbackups''' folder. Here you can pick the most recently updated file to restore.
Important: a Restore wipes any bookmarks currently in your active Firefox profile and replaces it with the contents of the restored backup.

  • E-Set anti virus comes up with Mozilla Firefox heading -acts like malware -had to go to restore point to get rid of it

Popup said Mozilla Firefox required update - this led to an E Set scan finding assorted viruses and malware - then wanted payment to clear these and would not let other computer functions work. Had to go to restore point to clear problems. How can we block this problem from recurring? Does Firefox ever us popups to notify that updates are required ?

    Hi,
This is [[How to make Firefox the default browser]]

  • Many, many times in a session, I get this: Mozilla Firefox (Not Responding). Frustration is setting in when I have to kill the computer, and start all over again. Anger is beginning a slow burn, too.

Since the latest version (don't even ask me) was downloaded and installed, many times in a session when I am browsing the net, or opening a text document or a spreadsheet, flipping back and forth, I'll have to stop and sit for an indeterminate amount of time because up on the header, I'll get the message Mozilla Firefox (Not Responding). When looking down toward the front of the laptop, I note the hard drive is going full bore, whole hog, whatever you want to call it. Sometimes after repeated hitting the "enter" key, the program will catch up, and begin functioning again. Other times, because the program is stuck, the laptop will overheat, causing me to manually shut down, wait a while while the hard drive cools, then restarting. When I have to manually kill the session, I cannot, repeat CANNOT get the machine shutdown programs to work.
What the hell is wrong with Firefox with this crap?

Hello jesterabk, '''Try Firefox Safe Mode''' to see if the problem goes away. Safe Mode is a troubleshooting mode, which disables most add-ons.
''(If you're not using it, switch to the Default theme.)''
    * You can open Firefox 4.0+ in Safe Mode by holding the '''Shift''' key when you open the Firefox desktop or Start menu shortcut.
    * Or open the Help menu and click on the '''Restart with Add-ons Disabled...''' menu item while Firefox is running.
''Once you get the pop-up, just select "'Start in Safe Mode"''
'''''If the issue is not present in Firefox Safe Mode''''', your problem is probably caused by an extension, and you need to figure out which one. Please follow the [[Troubleshooting extensions and themes]] article for that.
''To exit the Firefox Safe Mode, just close Firefox and wait a few seconds before opening Firefox for normal use again.''
''When you figure out what's causing your issues, please let us know. It might help other users who have the same problem.''
    Thank you.

  • How are the standard ACL settings for the installationfolder C:\Program Files\Mozilla Firefox ?

reasoning: On my Win7 Prof. machine I have an entry for "authentificated users" who can write to that folder and I guess this is a security risk/no standard behaviour?
I stumbled upon this because of the newest update for Firefox.
My machine is able to update Firefox, when a user without administrative privilegs is logged in. The UAC is on the highest adjustment.
I guess this perhaps occures, because I transfered the user profile from a windows xp machine using the Microsoft User Migration Tool?
Please provide feedback for the standard user rights, which are granted for a clean Firefox installation so I can adjust my settings.
    Kind Regards

I am assuming you've not been able to bring up Firefox at all after installing.
In my start-up command in the properties of the icon
I have the pathname enclosed in double quotes because of the spaces:
    "C:\Program Files (x86)\Mozilla Firefox 4.0\firefox.exe" -p Firefox-Four
Is your download first install of Firefox or was it to update to Firefox 5.
Have you used Firefox before on your machine.
What happens if you just type firefox.exe into the '''Run...''' box from the Windows Start button (WinKey).

  • I tried to start using Mozilla firefox but could not get past subscribing to mesterquiz so I set a fake Telephone number 99123456. I will not pay 150 kr/week s

It seems mandatory to answer some questions about using mozilla firefox to start usin gfirefox and to chose a "gift" i.e.. an ipad to go to mesterquiz and subscribe to a service of 150kr/week
How do I get around this?

Firefox costs nothing to use, and there are no "gifts" involved. Sounds like you may have signed up for something not related to Mozilla.

  • Just updated to latest version , getting started with Mozilla Firefox opens everytime not homepage , how do I get rid of unwanted page

I upgraded to the latest version of Firefox , when I hit the icon and firefox opens the first page that comes up is the Getting started with Mozilla Firefox and not my home page , I have checked everything I could find and nothing keeps this page from opening like it's my home page . also I unloaded download helper for the same reason , it keep opening up wanting me to upgarde to the latest version , I already had upgraded , I don't know what is going on , My home system was upgraded early last week and works fine , I double checked all setting between the two systems , nothing , Please let me know where to look , thank you , a longtime fan of Firefox.

    Hi Romulus949,
You should take a look at the Knowledge Base article [[How to set the home page]].
There are steps in that article to reset your homepage preferences to default. I would try that first to clear out any strangeness. Then you can set your homepage to anything you like.
If that doesn't work you should look at [https://support.mozilla.com/kb/Firefox+has+just+updated+tab+shows+each+time+you+start+Firefox this article about that specific issue] and the article [http://kb.mozillazine.org/Preferences_not_saved Preferences not saved].
    Hopefully this helps!

  • Hi! I updated my Mozilla Firefox to new verison(Mac OS X), and now in some pages all texts is in bold. Where is the problem? Thanks!

Hi! I updated my Mozilla Firefox to new version(Mac OS X), and now in some pages all texts is in '''bold'''. Where is the problem? Thanks!

Did you do a font check in Font Book?
Be aware that a default encoding of UTF-16 as shows in your screenshot may lead to problems.<br />
The default is Western (ISO-8859-1) and you should change the default encoding to that setting unless you have changed that deliberately to UTF-16 for specific web pages, but even in that case it is better to make the change via View > Character Encoding or set Auto-Detect to Universal or UTF-16.

  • Mozilla firefox canot load default home page. It says " URL not valid or cannot be loaded"

my version of Mozilla Firefox is 9.01. I have set the my home page to Mozilla's default homepage, which is the Mozilla firefox start page. A pop up came by, saying "URL is not valid and cannot be loaded". I cannot find any info on the support web and had to resolve to this.

That issue can be caused by a corrupted or incomplete Visual C++ installation (multiple versions can be installed side-by-side; SxS) that is missing some runtime components (Redistributable Package) that Firefox depends on (problem with an embedded manifest file that specifies a specific runtime version).
You need to install the missing components (e.g. VisualC++ 2005 Redistrbutable).

  • Installer program to build a customized version of Mozilla Firefox into an installer?

I run my own small tech business, and a requirement when it comes to optimizing a client's internet usage is to install Mozilla Firefox. I install a universal set of add-ons as well, and I am hoping if there is a possible way to obtain an officially supported install-build application that could do that. I would prefer if supported by Mozilla to keep it secure and safe to use. This way I can take less time installing specific add-ons for every client, and I would have less trouble about forgetting what add-ons to install.

It would cost you big bucks to have Mozilla do a custom Firefox version with specific addons included, plus that custom build would need to be updated every month or two as new minor version security releases were made by Mozilla.
My suggestion is to set up your own '''Collection''' of addons and then point your clients to your collection at AMO so they can install all the addons in one action.
    https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/collections/editors_picks
You can used the Addon Collector extension in your own Firefox installation so you can easily add additional addons to your collection at AMO as you need to.
    https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/pages/collector
Check out the features for the Collector addon.
