Mozilla restores pages from last session, but I don't set it and don't want it

When I'm opening Mozilla firefox, it always restores pages from last session. I tried to restore default startpage, but it restore other pages anyway.

You can check if you have an user.js file in the Firefox profile folder that sets the browser.sessionstore.resume_session_once pref to true.
http://kb.mozillazine.org/browser.sessionstore.resume_session_once
You can use this button to go to the Firefox profile folder:
Help > Troubleshooting Information > Profile Directory: Show Folder (Linux: Open Directory; Mac: Show in Finder)

hope it will sort out your problem

  • Open all pages from last session

Occasionally, safari will die. When I restart safari:
is there a function to open all pages from last session?
does firefox have this function? I thought I saw it within firefox, but I can't find it now. If this function is in firefox, where is it?

In Safari... History > Open all pages from last session
    Firefox should do it automatically.

  • Setting of "opening web pages from last session"not works when open next time

In Options, setting to "open windows & tab pages from last time" does not work. I have tries several time but nothing happens. have written to you earlier also , please help

''setting to "open windows & tab pages from last time" does not work.''
That would be very surprising but a change was made to Firefox 4 to always have the choice of going to History ("Alt+S") and choose "Restore previous session".
With Firefox 5 coming out in a few days (June 21-22) you might try again then, if the solution the developers built in does not work for you. Do you know about pinning tabs ('''app-tabs''') they persist across sessions as a convenience -- if I really want to keep something permanently then I would bookmark such things as a group. Because they can be closed easily.

  • I set the prefferance to show tabs and windows from last session but every time i power down my firefox or my Mac all my app tabs and windows disapear. what's wrong with my settings.

I set my preferences to '''show all tabs and windows from last session''' and un-checked the box for '''don't load tabs until selected''' but every time I turn off fire fox and power down my Mac all my app tabs disappear.

Make sure that you do not use Clear Recent History to clear the <i>Browsing History</i> when you close Firefox.

  • I'm having firefox open my tabs from last session, but it also opens a bunch of additional blank sessions (lots of them!!!)

I've got the configuration set to save my tabs when I close firefox and to reopen those tabs when I start firefox again. That part is now working correctly BUT I also get a whole bunch of additional firefox windows (not tabs, totally separate windows), blank. I've counted, and actually had almost 70 of these to close once. The number seems to vary depending on how many tabs I had open in the session I closed (I think anyway). It's a royal pain to have to close all those additional windows. Help! Thanks in advance.

Either an add-on or a site you have visited corrupted your Profile.
You should create a new one and try it out, if it doesn't help you can always go back.

PLz any body suggest me i had hanged up with my computer for last 3 day but couldn't solved it.

That article is universal, and not limited to iOS 4.x.
The phone is either jailbroken or has suffered a hardware failure.
Error 1015: This error is typically caused by attempts to downgrade the iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch's software. This can occur when you attempt to restore using an older .ipsw file. Downgrading to a previous version is not supported. To resolve this issue, attempt to restore with the latest iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch software available from Apple. This error can also occur when an unauthorized modification of the iOS has occurred and you are now trying to restore to an authorized, default state.  Very rarely this error is caused by a hardware issue and requires service.

  • I clicked a link in another program that opened a link in Firefox, but only that opened, not any of my 50 saved tabs from last session. What can I do?

So I clicked a link in a program that opened in Firefox. I had over 50 tabs from the course of a couple months I was saving, so "go back in your history" is not a practical option. I use the "Restore Tabs From Last Session" (or whatever the exact wording is) so I can just close and open and get all my tabs back. This time only this one link opened, nothing else did (like I remember it usually doing). How am I to restore that previous session? It's crucial for me to get all that stuff back, it drives me crazy when this happens (it's why I dropped Chrome and came here to Firefox, better memory management and less crashes).

You can try to restore a previous version of the sessionstore.js or sessionstore.bak file. You need to rename the .bak file to .js to make Firefox see that session.

  • Safari won't open to 'all windows from last session'

Safari is set to open to 'all windows from last session' - but it opens to a blank page.  Not every time, but 75%+.  I usually have multiple tabs open, not always the same ones, and this is slow, annoying and tedious to frequently reconstruct where I left it.
    Any ideas?
I just moved to a MacBook from Windows and I am surprised to have an issue like this crop up so quickly (or well ever - based on Apple's reputation, that is - and all the glowing things my firends and associates have told me)

Open a Finder window. From the menu bar click Go > Go to Folder
Type or copy / paste the following:
    ~/Library/Caches/com.apple.Safari/Cache.db
Click Go then move the Cache.db file to the Trash.
Quit and relaunch Safari to test.
BTW, if you enable the Develop menu you can empty the Safari cache easily instead of having to go through your user library.
From the Safari menu bar click Safari > Preferences then select the Advanced tab.
Select:  Show Develop menu in menu bar
Then from the Safari menu bar top of your screen, click Develop > Empty Caches

  • Safari 6.0, what happened with option to open with windows from last session?

Made the upgrade from Snow Leopard to Mountain Lion and realized that I don't longer have the option to open Safari with windows from last session (Preferences->General). The option has been removed:

They don't. I can access them by history ->reopen all windows from last session, but that's not what I want.
Does anybody else have this problem or is it just me that lost that option on Preferences -> General?

  • Some pages blank after "Reopen All Windows From Last Session"

    Hi there,
For several months now I have been having a strange problem. "Reopen All Windows From Last Session" works, but only partially. If I have e.g. 14 tabs open in 4 windows and quit/crash Safari, then when Safari relaunches and I reopen all windows, an arbitrary number of them will turn blank. There will be nothing in the URL bar for those tabs and the tab will load as "Untitled" and a blank page.
This morning I lost 5 tabs this way. In the past I've lost up to 21 of 23. I have never lost all of them; often I lose nothing at all.
If I then use plutil to convert the LastSession.plist file to XML and examine it, it will have a null string where the missing URLs should be ("<string></string>"). I did so right before I posted, and everything looks reasonable while Safari is running - no obvious file corruption.
(And for the "use fewer tabs" crowd, I use this Mac to work tech support and have to have a large number of constantly shifting resources open simultaneously. Is the convenience of carrying them over from session to session too much to ask?)

Today I shut Safari down after saving two copies of ~/Library/Safari/LastSession.plist to the desktop and converting one to xml*. I reviewed that file; only one URL was blanked out, and I saved that URL manually into a Stickie for later retrieval.
After I quit Safari, I saved two more copies of LastSession.plist and converted one to xml*. There was no change whatsoever from the pre-Safari-quit state. 28 good URLs and 1 blank, across 6 pages.
I booted up Safari. Result? 10 blank tabs out of 29. So this means:
    - 1 lost during normal operation before program quit
    - 0 lost as a result of program quit
    - 9 lost as a result of program startup
    - 9 http: URLs
    - 1 https: URL
    - (n.b. there were 2 more https: URLs which saved and reloaded correctly)
I will now quit Safari, restore a saved .plist file into its directory, and try to reproduce it.
    * .plist files are by default stored in a binary format. If you want to read what's inside a .plist file as part of your own troubleshooting, save a copy of the file and run the plutil command from within Terminal:
plutil -convert xml1 -e pxml FILENAME
(replace FILENAME with the full name and path of the file you saved)
This will give you a file named FILENAME.pxml in the same location that you can read with TextEdit or any of the command-line text editing commands.

  • Flash Player Update disables "restore all windows from last session" in Safari on Mac

I am on Mac OS 10.9.5, using safari 7.1.2.  Adobe Flash Player Update loses all safari windows when after update the installer automatically opens safari and just opens flash player website; the "restore all windows from last session" is grayed out in history. The "reopen last closed window" is also grayed out. It has been happening ever since and happened again when I just installed Flash Player ver 16.0.0.257.
For all other normal working situation I can close safari and reopen and see that I can "restore all windows from last session" and there is no problem.  But on flash Player install (set on manual install), the problem is annoying and costs me a lot of time to restore one by one from history.  I do not think this is a Mac or a Safari issue, but will update to Mac Yosemite help if Adobe Flash Player is updated differently in that setup?
    Please help.

Update: I called adobe flash player technical support phone number 1 877-587-1877.  They want $59 (warranty only 6 months) to fix this problem as they use a third party to solve this issue; they themselves provide no support.  Or buy the paid version.  They insist it is my network issue which I absolutely can not believe.
It is adobe Flash player update that forces reopening of safari and wracks the safari losing all windows from last session. That is not my network.  Adobe does not have a proper safari compatible flash player update.
Besides, this is a known problem at Adobe and they are not fixing it and want money to fix it one person at a time!  They also shared that 25% to 30% of the installations have this problem... wow!! and they still will not fix it in a general update!  I wonder if safari has a plug in update that can fix this?

  • After crashing, Firefox is not re-openeing saved tabs from my last session, but is re-opening tabs from a session over a month old. How do I find my saved tabs?

After crashing, Firefox is not re-opening saved tabs from my last session, but is re-opening tabs from a session over a month old. How do I find my saved tabs?

This can be a problem with the file [http://kb.mozillazine.org/sessionstore.js sessionstore.js] and sessionstore.bak in the [http://kb.mozillazine.org/Profile_folder_-_Firefox Profile Folder]
Delete [http://kb.mozillazine.org/sessionstore.js sessionstore.js] and sessionstore.bak in the [http://kb.mozillazine.org/Profile_folder_-_Firefox Profile Folder]
If you see files sessionstore-##.js with a number in the left part of the name like sessionstore-1.js then delete those as well.

I want to restore a back up from icloud from last year but it has disappeared! can i recover older backups?

No, once removed, backups cannot be recovered.  Also, Apple will remove backups after 180 days of inactivity, which sounds like what happened here.

  • All windows/tabs aren't opening from last session, even with setting checked. What's wrong?

For a while now in Safari, if I have to close out the browser or restart my Mac for some reason, my previous tabs in Safari are not loading when I re-open Safari. I went online this week and did a change in Settings to where it would open up the option again in Safari to allow me to check "Reopen windows from last session", however, even with this selected, it did not re-open my tabs just now. This is such an unnecessary frustration and hassle. Can anyone please help?
Oh, and the "Reopen last closed session" and "Reopen all windows from last session" is grayed out and unelectable if I try to bring them back that way in History.

Thank you Linc! I did do what you suggested, and it did work.
I noticed though (because I tried to close/re-open Safari several times to make sure it would consistently load my previous pages, that when I close the window but not the program) that I can "restore my previous session" or "last closed session" under the History menu if I merely close the window, but not the app/program although it doesn't automatically reload them; but, if I close the whole Safari app/program, when I re-open Safari it does reload all of my pages. I guess I'm writing that in case it helps someone else, but it can be confusing, and may be where my issue originally started.
Okay, another thing is, when I look in Safari preferences now (after your suggested changes), Safari doesn't give me the option of "Open new windows with previous session". Does that matter, I guess, if my previous pages/session are/is loading? It doesn't seem to make sense that that preference is missing in Safari now, but my pages reload. Just some musings. No rush to reply. I'm new to Mac, but I do like to understand how things work.
    Thanks again!
