Mozilla support redirects to japanese site

Beginning yesterday, I awoke to find that my outlook.com pinned tab, that shows my hotmail inbox, had changed to the outlook sign-in page (which I didn't consider unusual - I simply thought the cookie had expired and it wanted me to sign in again). However there were asian character place-holders on this page (the vertical rectangles with the numbers inside). Eventually, I was able to login, even though I couldn't read the page. When my inbox appeared, all appeared normal; no more asian characters. However, today I went to the mozilla page to research a plug-in and had the same problem. I noticed that I was on the /ja/ support page. I went to mozilla home and clicked on the support link - it directed me to the /ja/ page again. I had to type en-us/ manually to get here. I have cleared cookies, cache, and offline website data - no change. I am doing a virus scan now just to check, but I don't believe this to be the problem (I will update this if the scan is positive). The link using the opera browser worked just fine. I can't use chrome because it crashes this old XP machine. I would prefer not to have to leave Firefox, because I like it so much. Please advise.

In addendum -
I need to mention that the problem was still there (just masked) on later attempts to access sites. Resetting Firefox solved the immediate problem. There was quite a lot of spyware and viruses happening - most acquired through the Guest user name that my kids use sometimes. I've had a good talk with them!

I have removed the check from the pop up blocked in the MOZILLA options but still get this problem of not being able to open certain sites. The MOZILLA icon appears with the three options available, but before i can click on one I am automatically redirected to a site I did not want, and when I try to go back it will keep coming back to the site MOZILLA put on the computer. I have to close and go back to the home page and start all over again. I have installed a new virus protection system STOPZILLA and could this have any bearing on the problem. After awhile it becomes very frustrating trying to get on line information and being continually redirected. Any ideas?

• How do i get Safari to stop redirecting to mobile sites?

Mobile websites are a curse, and IMO was one of the main reasons people didn't use the mobile web before the iPhone. Now with the iPhone you can view the actual web (minus flash, which I would really like to see soon, hint hint), without having to deal with these crippled sites, yet most of them still redirect you to their mobile site.
Someone please tell me there is a way to get safari on the iPhone to stop redirecting to mobile sites without jailbreaking my phone.

These redirects are controlled by the websites themseives. They figure out if you are on a mobile phone or not and then redirect you to the mobile version.
The only way to change that is to look for a link on their site that leads to the full version or write the website webmaster asking them for a link to be added.
There are other ways as well but those aren't supported by Apple so they can't be discussed here.

Firefox no longer connects to internet on my mac, and windows machines, after v18. I've tried several solutions from Mozilla support and nothing works. Firefox can't even connect to Mozilla for updates. Firefox just sits on the default search page and attempts to connect to websites by typing URLs, or by clicking on the links on the default search page don't work.

You could try the following:
* Make sure your Internet security software is up-to-date (i.e. you are running the latest version)
* Remove Firefox from your program's list of trusted or recognized programs, then add it back. For detailed instructions, see Configure firewalls so that Firefox can access the Internet.

• Why can't I access my mozilla support account

I had trouble the other day accessing my mozilla support account. I was able to sign in which at the top of the page brought up my username and listed the available options (for example, inbox, profile, settings, etc.) but the page otherwise included the following message: "An Error Occurred
Oh, no! It looks like an unexpected error occurred. We've already notified the site administrators. Please try again now, or in a few minutes." I was caught in this endless loop of signing in, getting the same error message, and unable to access my account or post a new question. This happened whether I used IE or Firefox and after clearing cookies, etc. and resetting browser.
I was able to create a new account with a new username and new email but after posting my question the same phenomena occured which prohibited me from further accessing that new account.
Accordingly, I have now set up this third account in order to see if the problem can be resolved. The username for those first two accounts at issue is inquiringmind and FirefoxQuery79. After posting this question I don't know if I will be able to get back into this account to answer any followup questions so I hope I have provided enough info.
Any insight is appreciated. Thanks.

At least this account seems to be working as you have posted on the forum.

• How to make [Search Mozilla Support] honor specification of a phrase?

Many search facilities will honor a phrase. If I specify "tab character" [including the quote marks!], they will search for the phrase "tab character" and only return links to documents with that phrase. As I discovered when trying to answer a question about controlling how the tab character is rendered, the search function in Mozilla support returns links to everything dealing with browser tabs. I tried using s-quote marks rather than d-quote marks, but that did not help. I could not find any button with a name like "Advanced" to get more control over the search. So far as I can tell, [Search Mozilla Support] insists on treating the phrase "tab character" as a search for anything with the word "tab" or the word "character".

Yes, using quotes to specify a search term is one of the most wanted features for me (and probably a lot of others) on this forum, but it still hasn't been implemented.<br />
Only a Google site search will work to search for a multi-word phrase enclosed in quotes.

• How to delete Mozilla Support account?

Greetings,
Since I don't use Mozilla Support, I would like to delete my account, but it seems there's no option for that. So, I would like to ask Administrator(s) of this site to permanently delete my account.
If sometime in the future I decide to make a new account, I will do that. But for now, I would like to delete my current account.
I hope that my wish will be fulfilled.
P.S. Don't get me wrong, I still use Mozilla browser, but I would like to delete all accounts I don't use.
Thanks,
Matija

Dear Moses,
Thank you for fast and positive reply. I really respect such a fast and concrete feedback.
Yes, I would like you to delete my account. But please don't get me wrong. My decision is only based on the fact I don't use this "forum" anymore. And I am in the process of deleting all accounts I don't use.
With that said, there is still a chance that sometime in the future I will decide (or will need) to create a NEW account here.
It is OK for me to wait 1 or 2 weeks before everything gets deleted. The only important thing is that it is done properly in the end.
Well, I think we have solved this "problem", so I will mark this as "solved". And you can do what you need to... ;-)
Thank you very much for your assistance,
Matija

• Can you add decent "Search" functionality to the Mozilla Support website?!

One of my biggest frustrations with Firefox is trying to make use of the Mozilla Support website. Almost every search I enter in the Search box yields 1000+ results. String delimiters (") to define phrases and operators like AND and OR appear not to work at all, and results seem to include ANY article that contains ANY of the words in the search box. This is next-to-useless, and I usually exhaust my patience sifting through unrelated articles, exiting the support site again with just a little less respect for Firefox/Mozilla.

This is a well known issue.
The search is even hardcoded into crash stats pages where it results in meaningless or misleading results.
Regulars know to use an external search engine because of this shortcoming. There are numerous instances where a string is useful the name of software or a feature for instance, but if one of the words is commonly used results max out and bury the real hits.
Compare for instance
*Ask Toolbar (Problematic software)
** Google I only scrolled the first 30 pages, all would appear good hits.
** sumo maxed out 1000 results maybe two proper hits per page in the first few pages
I know I have often mentioned this. Including in the contributors forums [/forums/contributors/709812?last=55863#post-55708 (most recent)]. There are old & current bugs

• How do I get in touch with mozilla support directly to report a totally unusable browser

I am currently sending this issue via Windows internet explorer because my mozilla browser does nothing but crash since the v18.0 install this morning. It does not appear that anything specific is causing the problem. The browser will crash attempting to access a link from the homepage. It will crash attempting to open mail. It will crash switching windows. It will crash when I'm doing absolutely nothing other than having the browser open on the desktop.
moderator edited the title of this thread

This is the Mozilla Support site, so this is where you can get help :) If Firefox is crashing, can you give me the crash ID? (type about:crashes into the browser URL bar, press Enter, then copy and paste the ID that starts with BP- and is from the time you experienced the crash, here)

Do you mean that you get the page that says that a secure connection failed?
Check out why the site is untrusted (click "Technical Details to expand that section) and if this is caused by a missing intermediate certificate then see if you can install this intermediate certificate from another source.
You can retrieve the certificate and check details like who issued certificates and expiration dates of certificates.
*Click the link at the bottom of the error page: "I Understand the Risks"
Let Firefox retrieve the certificate: "Add Exception" -> "Get Certificate".
*Click the "View..." button and inspect the certificate and check who is the issuer of the certificate.
You can see more Details like intermediate certificates that are used in the Details pane.
If "I Understand the Risks" is missing then this page may be opened in an (i)frame and in that case try the right-click context menu and use "This Frame: Open Frame in New Tab".
Note that some firewalls monitor secure (https) connections and send their own certificate instead of the website's certificate.

• Cannot log in to Mozilla Support. It won't accept my username or password. Reset password email says my account is already activated.

Tried accessing Mozilla Support Forums for Firefox Desktop Support, which I have used many times. It would not accept my username and password, claiming they were incorrect. I tried the Password Reset feature, which opened a window saying that accounts created before December 2010 may have issues logging in. Please reset your password below. It instructs me to enter my email address so that it can send me instructions for setting a new password. I enter my email address. It says we've sent an email to any account using this address. Please follow the link in the email to reset your password. I go to my email. Nothing is there. I wait, but still nothing.
I go back to the sign in page, and click on the link - I didn't get a confirmation email - under Login Problems. A new window opens which tells me that to activate my account I must first confirm my email address. I reenter my email address. I get an email from Mozilla right away, telling me that my account is already activated, and it gives me a link to log in. I click on that link. I enter my username and password again. Same error message denying me access and telling me to enter a correct username and password. I try this a couple more times with no success. Same repeating errors.
So I try to create a NEW account using a different username with my email address. It will not let me do that. It says that email address is already taken, and it will not allow me to proceed. I ultimately had to set up a new account with an email address that I never use, just so I could access the Help features. I am exasperated. I do not want to post my Questions using an email address that I do not use, and have to open another application to even access. I want to be able to receive a message from Mozilla in my normal everyday email address, if someone has replied to my post. But since Mozilla will not let me use my existing email address for the new account I set up, I cannot do that.
This is very frustrating. Mozilla will not allow me access to my original user account that was already set up with my preferred email address. And Mozilla won't let me create a new user account with my preferred email address. Now I am stuck with a new user account that is linked to an email address that I never use and which is not easily accessible to me. As a last resort, I access my new user account in hopes that it will allow me to change the email address that is linked to the account, but of course, that is not an option.
Can someone please help me to access my original account with my original username and password? If a password reset is necessary, then I should not be getting a reply email telling me my account is already activated (see below). If it is activated, then why can't I log in? What is going on? Please help me. Thank you.
It seems your account has already been activated.
You can log in at:
https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/users/login
Thanks!
The support.mozilla.org team}

I use only support.mozilla.org and never used any other websites. However, the same problem here. My ID and Password are not accepted. Had to create a new account with a temporary email to use Support - it would not allow me to use my main email, because "it is used by another account". Try to reset password - receive no email (even though there is a confirmation on the website that email to reset password has been sent). At the same time can easily receive a confirmation about User ID and account activation. Thus, the account is completely locked, and I can not use my email address for a new one. Please fix this problem.

• Firefox cannot open iGoogle, Gmail or any Mozilla support pages.

Hi,
I unwillingly moved away from Firefox for a period of time (due to lack of mobile browser support for Symbian clashing with my syncronisation needs). However, upon returning to Firefox, I have discovered that I can no longer sign into iGoogle, Gmail, Youtube or access any of the Mozilla support pages.
I tried uninstalling and reinstalling Firefox.
I tried deleting all user data (through tools>clear recent history and checking all the boxes)
I tried disabling all plug-ins
I tried resetting all the settings in about:config and any other user settings by loading in Firefox safe mode and checking Reset all user preferences to Firefox defaults, then making changes and restarting.
I removed immunization from Spybot S&D (which may have caused problems with IE8 which I haven't fully resolved)
I replaced my hosts file with the latest from MVPS hosts file.
I am running Online Armour Firewall. I played with this to see if it might be causing problems, but I couldn't figure it out.
I followed these instructions (link )
I followed these instructions here (Link) for internet settings, IPv6, DNS prefetching, checked for malware with Avast, Malwarebytes and Spybot S&D (all updated) and my computer appear clean.
I followed the instructions here (link link) for the errors on certain websites only.
I looked at this (link ) but my firewall is not covered.
So what should I try next? The website error appears instantly, it doesn't even appear to try to load.
Thanks!

No ideas?

• Why does my Mozilla Support password suddenly fail to work?

I tried to sign in to Mozilla Support to ask a question about Thunderbird that I could find no answer to elsewhere. I was denied. I verified my user name and password from the list I carefully keep on a flash drive and tried again. No go. Then I asked for password reset help, not knowing what else to do.
The e-mail came, but rather than containing password reset instructions, it thanked me for "joining Mozilla Support!" and said that "to complete your registration, you need to verify your e-mail address." Bear in mind that I was not trying to complete any registration but only to log in to an existing account. Nevertheless, I clicked the link and was taken to a verification page. That did not work.
At last, in need of getting on with it without further delay, I simply registered for a new account using a different user name. Fortunately, the system seemed not to be concerned that it used the same e-mail address as before.
So, the specific questions are: (1) Why did this happen, and (2) what does one do to prevent such a thing from occurring again? If it is a matter of signing in at some interval so that the system does not interpret lack of using Support as evidence that the account holder has been kidnapped and carried off by the Klingons, I would appreciate knowing this and what the maximum interval is before doom strikes.
Thank you.

I begin to understand. Nevertheless, "Mozilla Support" would be understood by an average person with average capacity to include the support of anything Mozilla produces, or so it would seem.
