Mp3 and audiobo

I'm looking for an mp3 player to record/download audiobooks on - at least g. I want one with bookmarks...but from descriptions, can't figure out which ones have them. Please advise. Thanks

The Creative Zen Micro (4,5,6 GB) and MicroPhoto (8GB) has the bookmark function.

It seems a bit silly to post a request for sales help to the forum, but the responses I get from Creative are nonsensical and never actually answer my questions, so here goes. I have a Zen V. After the firmware update that allowed transfer of large files (which Creative claimed was not a software issue), my Zen V worked great for a while. After a year, the battery no longer holds a charge for more than two hours at a time. What I did not realize when I bought it, is that there is no way to replace the battery. (When I emailed them, Creative's solution was to offer me a tutoring session for a fee.) It looks like I'm stuck having to buy a new player. As much as I have grown to hate Creative, I still like my Zen V and they still seem to have the best players for audiobooks. Unfortunately, no one seems to list important details in their product specs. I want something with a replaceable battery, bookmarking and full-time display. I really don't need more than 2 GB and want to keep the cost as low as possible. I don't need video. The Zen Micro seems to be the best option, but I haven't been able to locate it on Creative's website.
Does anyone know if the Micro is no longer being produced? The Stone with speaker could be an option, but does it have a replaceable battery and does it have bookmarking and full-time display? Are there any audiobook users out there that can make a recommendation?

  • Can't Import mp3s and wmas to itunes

hi,my problem is that there are some mp3 and wma songs i have on my mac but when i try to put them on my library or basically try to listen to them on itunes nothing happens.i drag and drop them into library or manually import them but itunes just doesn't respond i even tried to manually open the directory music>itunes>itunes music>automatically add to itunes and dragged these mp3s into it but it just keeps ignoring them and throws them into a directory called 'not added'.can anyone help me?

iTunes for Mac (unlike iTunes for Windows) cannot convert WMA files. You will need to use another Mac program, such as EasyWMA, to convert them into an iTunes compatible format.

  • Can you use iTunes match and not get duplicates if you maintain mp3s and aiffs files of the same song in either the same or separate libraries?

I maintain a collection of aiff files and mp3 files of the same music.
Aiff for home listening and Mp3 for my devices.
I can arrange these in the same or seperate libraires.
Will "itunes match" duplicate the songs in the cloud if they in the same or seperate libraies on the same mac?
If not, is anyone aware of how to manage seperate Mp3 and Aiff libraries so as not to get duplicates in itune match?
    All assistance is appreciated.
    Thanks!

    Hello mracole,
I checked my "purchases" and the 7/19/13 purchases don't show up.  However, the earlier versions from usually several years back...the ones that are Matched...often do show up in my Purchases.  I suspect that somehow those REALLY purchased several year old versions were deleted and redownloaded by me so I could change them to the 256 kbps versions under iTunes Match.  They were probably 128 kbps versions originally when purchased.
Why the earlier versions that were really purchased are now identified as Matched is puzzling.
Why I now have Purchased versions from 7/19/13 is puzzling too...especially since these versions do NOT show up in my purchases.
Calling Apple Support if a good idea unless someone can explain this mystery.  I might even take one of my laptops to the Apple store and show a Genius.
Thank you very much for taking the time to respond, Mr. Luigi

  • How can i convert from alac to mp3 and export to artist/album hierarchy

I am trying to populate a 32GB SD Card with music to listen to in my car.  My itunes library is largely in apple lossless format, but the car stereo does not play that format.
I have created a playlist of all of the music I'd like to have on the SD Card (but its in apple lossless format).
So what I'd like to do is:
    a)     Bulk convert a large number of apple lossless files to MP3.
    b)     Export the MP3 files to an external Finder folder, organized in Artist/Album hierarchy
    c)     Delete the MP3 files from the itunes library so as to have just the apple lossless version maintain in the itunes library
Sounds pretty simple, but I'm having a devil of a time trying to figure it out.
I can find a way to do the conversion and export the MP3 files (and subsequently deleted from the itunes library), but they will not be organized by Artist/Album in the Finder folder.
Similarly, I can export a bunch of files from itunes to a Finder folder and have it be organized by Artist/Album.
I just can't do one followed by the other.
I suppose this would also work if instead of exporting the newly created MP3 files, it would establish a new playlist in itunes with these.  Then, I could just export them and have them then organized by Artist/Album; and then I could delete all of the MP3 files in the playlist.
Any thoughts or ideas on how to accomplish this goal?  (I do know the manual way of doing this, but am trying to figure out a faster, more elegant way).
    M

I ask because you wrote, "I just can't do one followed by the other".
You can. Just do one followed by the other.
    Convert the files to mp3.
Put them all into a playlist.  A smart playlist with Kind is MP3 and added in last one day will do it for you.
Select the songs in teh smart playlist
Run Export to Album Folders script.
Select all the songs in the playlist then Command Delete to remove them from iTunes.

  • How can i hide extension .mp3 and others

i want to hide extension .mp3 and other extensions . Can you help me?

    Hi djandyes,
Globally showing and hiding file extensions is set by a Finder Preference.
Show or hide filename extensions - Mac Help
    For all files
If you select “Show all filename extensions,” all extensions are shown, even for files that have “Hide extension” selected. If you deselect “Show all filename extensions,” then file extensions are shown or hidden based on their individual “Hide extension” settings.
Choose Finder > Preferences, then click Advanced.
Select or deselect “Show all filename extensions.”

  • MP3 and itunes

If I buy a new MP3 and it says 'compatable with itunes' does that mean I can use it on my Apple computer or just that it will work with itunes on my old windows pc? I have itunes on my pc, but now I have my Apple computers I do not use the Toshiba pc hardly at all..

MP3 files will work with iTunes on both PCs and Macintosh computers, and (possibly baring some really obscure low bitrates) all Apple media playing devicessuch as iPod, iPhone and iPad.

  • MP3 and restricted codec support

    hi,
finally I have my system set and running. I did go for the KDE4 which I like very much and followed all the steps as stated in the Beginner'S Guide.
However, I don't have MP3 neither other multimedia propietary format access like MP4, AAC, MOV, WMA, WMV or RMVB - I carry my multimedia collection of songs, videos and movies from when I was on WinXP (yikes!)- despite I installed Xine and other utilities as desccribed in the Beginner's Guide.
I do can watch some AVI files but can't access sound stream so they're muted. How do I add full multimedia support to my fresh shiny Arch? I did try to search the forums but there's to seem a problem because I keep receiving desconnections errors.

why did you opened a new thread instead of discussion in the previous one?
oops, I did it again, sorry! (yeah, I know you prefer Brtiney saying that )
I just did the same of my very first post: promise to don't screw things again and follow the rules.
@Bralkein: thanks for your tips and useful research, I will stick with xine until I backup my root, then maybe I try gstreamer.

  • Mp3 and mp4 ?

I have sony walkman MP3's for my kids. I cannot get the songs downloaded off itunes to play or even register as downloaded on the devices. They are there because when I go into the files, they are reading as being on the device. They just do not show up on the "play" screen and do not play. My son said something about converting from mp4 to mp3 but DUH like I understand that. HELP, I cannot live with a teenage daughter and not have this machine working. The songs from limewire work but they are mp3 style and I really do not want to go back to limewire.  How to convert? Thanks

There are a lot of free audio file converters out there, just google "convert mp4 to mp3" and you'll see a lot of options.
But I'm wondering if you really want to go through all of your audio files and convert them one by one. This can be quite tedious and is something you'll have to do with every file you download from iTunes.
You might want to try iTunes Agent instead:
    http://www.ghacks.net/2008/04/24/sync-any-mp3-player-with-itunes/
I haven't used it myself, but it looks like it should work for you and would be a lot less hassle (if it works) in the long run.

  • MP3 and WAV tagging Prog

I have hundreds of albums ripped into my PC and I am trying to get all of my MP3's and WAVs tagged in the same uniform way. I want to see if any of you know of a program that I can download that will do what I am looking for. I want all of my songs to be named as follows:?0 Tom Sawyer02 Red Barchetta03 YYZ04 Limelight? As you can see I want the songs to simply have the song number and title and that is it. Over the years I have ripped CDs before I really thought of ripping them in a uniform way and now I am having to spend countless hours doing it manually. Before I spend countless more hours perhaps someone here knows of a great program that will take my songs and tag them this way. I need it to cover both MP3 and WAV if possible. Thanks!

Try mp3 Tag Studio at www.magnusbrading.com

  • MP3 and AAC files mixed in burned Audio CD???

Here is the story. I am new to iTunes and I have a 400Mhz G4 AGP Machine running OS 10.2.8 and have Quicktime 6.5.3 installed. I also have a 93 Gig HD and 512 megs of RAM and a Sony CRX160E iLink CD burner. I was running iTunes 3.0.1 for a little bit and just upgraded to 4.7.1 about a week or 2 ago. Can I mix "MP3" encoded tracks with "AAC" tracks. I think that I read in the help menu that I had to use the "Data CD" option instead of the Music CD option. But, if this is so, can I still play this CD in a regular CD player? since was encoded with MP3 and AAC and it is formated as a Data CD??? The reason I am asking is because I encoded a bunch of songs as MP3s in 3.0.1 as default and I understand that AAC files are of slightly better quality so, I wonder if it would be worth it for me to re-import my songs in "AAC" for consistency. Consistency is my main concern. I want to be able to burn CDs with little problems (although I have some issues but, that is a different story) and mix formats if I can.
    Thanks,
    Larry

Thanks for your help! I just burnt a CD with mixed formats and it played fine in a "newer" CD player. My home CD player is older (Circa 80s or 90s?) and I have been told that the older CD players either can't or, don't like CDRs. So, it played fine in my son's newer CD player but, not in my "older" player. I am not too sure about the difference in sound quality yet. I'll have to do some more testing. The MP3 files and AAC files both sounded well when played. One annoying thing, though is the volume issue. Most of the songs played at a similar volume but, one played quite softly. An annoying thing but, I understand that even if you use the "Sound check" option, the sound can vary due to the fact that iTunes has a "fast" way of reading the sound levels and could be inefficient. I will try "iVolume" to see if that helps. It is supposed to be pretty good for iTunes except for the version 7 that just came out.
    Thanks again,
    Larry

  • Mp3 and AAC (unprotected) in FCE 4??

    Hi,
I couldn't find any mention in the Apple documents. Does FCE 4 finally support mp3 and aac audio files??

Well, I got FCE 4.0 and it doesn't appear to accept my aac files.

  • MP3 and Flac player

    Hi,
I am looking for a good audio player with the option to play MP3 and Flac files.
I have tried FLAC player but its capability for organizing and editing  files according to composers and musical works is very limited.
    Any help will be appreciated.

Flash: I use Adobe 64 bit when absolutely necessary, behind NoScript and FlashBlock (Firefox addons) and sandfox
Audio Player: mplayer (with smplayer frontend), and also VLC
File Archiving: Personally I use a chooser script from within my file manager for most archiving.  That way I can do it fast and can customize the script with any archive formats and options I want.  Likewise, I use an xtract script associated in my file manager so I can click on any archive and it is instantly extracted into a subfolder - no interaction.  Also, if you want 7-Zip support it's p7zip, although I think xz is a more linux friendly and capable implementation of lzma2.
Audio Ripper: Asunder is pretty good, although I'm still shopping.
Video Ripper: I use mplayer, usually through ripdvd
ISO Burner: I wrote a custom script for burning  (which I haven't shared) that does it with CLI commands, which I found to be the easiest and most reliable method.  Graveman and Brasero are also decent.
    PDF Viewer: Evince

  • MP3 and Memory Stick

I am trying to convert my Library music to MP3 and load it on a memory stick/flash drive to be able to carry it and play the music on MP3 devices. I believe I understand that I must make a new Play List. Go to preferences and change Import Settings to MD3 but I cannot figure how to download to a flash drive. This seems to be for burning a CD. I can be totally wrong with this process for I do not understand how to choose the songs I want from the present I Tunes Library. I would like to change my existing music Library to a new playlist in MP3 and save all on the stick.
Any assistance with the process would be appreciated.

Hey. It seems you got the import settings switched over to .MP3, so what you need to do now is right click on the songs you want to convert to MP3 and select the "Create MP3 Version" option. This will cause it to create a duplicate version on each song you select that is in MP3 format. (You can choose whether or not you want to delete the original .m4a file.) After you have converted the songs you want to mp3 format, you can just drag the song from within iTunes to a folder on the flash drive and it will copy the song to the new location.
