Mp3 CDs and Folder Names

Hey all.
Does anyone know if it's possible to burn an mp3 cd using iTunes with different folder names? ie: Different folders for different artists.
Also, any idea how to do this in a manner so that an mp3 capable stereo will display the folder names?
If not iTunes, any other software?
Thanks!

  • Prevent using special characters in file and folder names?

    I've recently begun adding windows clients to my network. In doing so, I've found that on my file shares from OS X server, the windows clients are unable to see files and folders which have names containing special characters such as / ? < > \ : * | ”
    Unfortunately my accounting department has been creating files with these characters in their names for several years. I would like to find if there is a way to prevent them from using a defined set of characters in the file and folder names to prevent them from "accidentally" doing so in the future.
    I've found that by turning off streams support on SMB in OS X server, that my windows clients can at least see that a file or folder should exist, albeit with a corrupted file name. Removing the special characters from these names allows the proper name to become visible and the file accessible.
    Any info would be greatly appreciated.

    PS: basically it's not a url encoding issue.
    I can url encode "ça alors: it's a déjà-vu",
    and pass it in a url query string. But my issue is not
    with an url query string, it's with an actual URL, that is,
    the actual name of the directory. It
    can't be "ça alors: it's a déjà-vu". But I
    want to allow the user to name their directory like that
    if they want. So I need a way to encode this into characters
    that can be used for an actual
    directory on the server.

  • Making MP3 CDs (and issues with AAC files)

    Hello All,
    I like to burn MP3 CDs so I can play several hours worth of tunes while riding my motorcycle or in the car. I have a large collection of songs that I purchased from the iTunes store. When I burn a CD my choices are Audio, MP3 or Data. The AAC (earlier versions are protected and recent purchases are purchased AAC) won't work cause they are not MP3 files and iTunes won't allow me to make an MP3 copy. The latter only seems to work if I ripped a song from CD to AAC format. Any suggestions? I believe my CD player will also play AAC files. How can I either create a mix of MP3 and AAC files on a CD or convert purchased AAC files to MP3. Thanks for your help!

    To create an MP3 CD in iTunes, you need to have a playlist of songs that are already in MP3 format. If you need to convert AAC files to MP3, simply follow these instructions: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1550
    Note that format conversion creates a new file in MP3 format, but does not replace the file in any playlist. Make sure that the playlist you are going to burn has only MP3s in it. The best way to check is by looking at the Kind column. If Kind is not visible, enable it by going to View > View Options.

  • How can I increase the font size in messages and folder names

    Can you please tell me how to change the overall font size in thunderbird?
    I need the folder names to be in larger text, I need the messages list to be in larger text and the text within the emails as well as needing the fonts in all the headers and icons to be larger too as it is all just too small for me.

    Check this article.

  • Smart collection and folder names with "_"

    I have problems when making Smart Collections based on folder names
    My folder name is 2009_11_20 Mist
    When I make a Smart collection with "Folder" Stars with 2009
    I get a lot of files
    When I change the  2009 to 2009_11 I get no files. Even when I make 2009_ I get no files
    When I change the 2009 to Mist and the "Starts with" to "Contains" again I get the desired files.
    When I change the 2009 to 2009_11 and the "Starts with" to "Contains" again I get no files.
    It seems that LR with Smart Collections cannot handle the "_" character???
    Who can help?

    It's a bug. The usual workaround is to use hyphen as the separator in your folder names instead of an underscore.

  • Site Index Portlet and Folder names with quotes

    Hi,
    I don't know if anyone else has hit this problem with the site index portlet, but it fails to render when the page group contains a page with a quote >'< in the page name.
    This is an issue particularly using O Drive and 10.1.4 portal, as the page name and page display name both get set to the folder name & windows alows quotes in folder names.
    The portlet code escapes the display name, but not the page URL. In 10.1.4 the URL has the page name in it, including any quotes, so the URL needs to be escaped too.
    This is achieved by modifying the code in site_index_tree.process_tree. Have a look how l_title_enc is set & do the same for the l_link value. l_link_enc := replace(l_link, '''', '\''');
    Comments and suggestions welcome.
    Cheers,
    David

    Hi
    to avoid this problem I'm afraid that you have to avoid quotes from your pages names.
    Quotes in URL are not supported by navigators so you can't use them for pages names (but,as you said you can use for display names).
    A possible workaround is to modify the render_tree method, replacing URL by permanent links.
    Your url http://myportal/page/portal/page/apage/anotherpage/namewithquote will be replaced by something like :
    http://myportal/page/portal/page/54564F654SD5F4SD56F4SD564FS
    Hope this will help

  • Why are my file and folder names changing randomly? (Appending Dates)

    Recently Finder has taken to randomly (it seems) appending the date to various folder and file names. For example today I dragged a file from Destop into Documents folder and the file name changed immediately after the move:
    From: wedding-invite.pdf
    To: wedding-invite 12/11/2013 12/11/2013 12/11/2013 12/11/2013 12/11/2013 12/11/2013 12/11/2013 12/11/2013 12/11/2013 12/11/2013 12/11/2013 12/11/2013 12/11/2013 12/11/2013 12/11/2013 12/11/2013 12/11/2013 12/11/2013 12/11/2013 12/11/2013.pdf
    This has happed to folder names as well with different amounts of replication and different dates (usually today's date or document creation date). It happens to some files and folders but not to others. Those that it does happen to have no UNDO trail for the particular action (like Undo Move for example).
    Very frustrating - any assistance would be appreciated.
    I am running nothiong special (I do run Google Drive on my iMac). Also Time Machine.

    Thanks! I found this on the folder actions setup:

  • Some menus and folder names displayed in Chinese and some in English

    In one application the menu is displayed in Chinese text. switch to another app and menus are in English.
    Language default is English.
    Also using VLC > Open Files > Browse displays Finder directory with all text in chinese against all icons (home, apps, docs etc).
    I have reinstalled osx 2 times now and having real problems cropping up all the time with parameters being reset, parameters ignored.
    HELP.
    20 years on PC and now 1 month Mac is making me gray.

    In one application the menu is displayed in Chinese
    text. switch to another app and menus are in
    English.
    Language default is English.
    Do Get Info on the icon for that application, hit the languages tab, and make sure only English is checked. If English not available, reinstall the app.
    Also using VLC > Open Files > Browse displays Finder
    directory with all text in chinese against all icons
    (home, apps, docs etc).
    You might want to ask the people who make VLC about that one, if you haven't already.

  • Handling illegal characters in file and folder names

    Due to the cross-platform nature of our DAM, some characters which are valid on OSX are not valid on our DAM, like :*?\"<>|;#. So I want to prevent that users using our Drive connector create files or folders containing these characters.
    Is it possible to present the user an appropriate error message in this case? In other words, what Exception should be thrown? I've tried a general RemoteHandlerException, this results in a login dialog in OSX Finder, not just an error that the file/folder cannot be created.

  • Mac OS X disallow same folder name and filename under the same directory

    I noticed Mac doesn't allow me to create the same filename and folder name under the same directory.
    Seems like this constraint is unique only to Mac since I can do it in Unix and Windows.
    Why is this so?
      Mac OS X (10.4.9)

    In Windows, there's probably a normally hidden extension being added to the file and/or the folder.
    In Unix, I'm NOT able to create both file "foo" and folder "foo". What version of Unix are you using that allows this? (Mac OS X is built on top of Unix.)
    One workaround would be to give the file a reasonable extension; foo.txt or foo.doc or foo.jpeg or whatever.

  • Unable to open PDFs with CR in the file name or folder name?

    We are unable to open any PDFs with capital CR in the title of the document or if they are stored in a folder with CR in the name of it. This is quite a large problem as we are a CRC (Cooperative Research Centre) and need to use this in most file and folder names.

    Can you please update to the latest version of Adobe Reader available i.e. 10.1.4 (By clicking on Help > Check For Updates from within the Reader application). This should fix your issue.

  • How to find list or folder name from SharePoint document URL

    I'm implementing the SharePoint client object model in my VSTO application in .NET framework 4.0(C#).
    Actually we open MS Word files from SharePoint site, we need to create a folder inside the opened documents list/folder and after it we want to upload/add some files to that created folder.
    My problem is that how to get list name/title and folder name of opened document by using the documents URL or Is there an another option to find the list or folder name of opened document.
    Any help will be appreciable.

    In document Library you can get the name of document library directly in URL. for folder name you can try below:
    using System;
    using Microsoft.SharePoint;
    namespace Test
    class ConsoleApp
    static void Main(string[] args)
    using (SPSite site = new SPSite("http://localhost"))
    using (SPWeb web = site.OpenWeb())
    if (web.DoesUserHavePermissions(SPBasePermissions.BrowseDirectories))
    // Get a folder by server-relative URL.
    string url = web.ServerRelativeUrl + "/shared documents/test folder";
    SPFolder folder = web.GetFolder(url);
    try
    // Get the folder's Guid.
    Guid id = folder.UniqueId;
    Console.WriteLine(id);
    // Get a folder by Guid.
    folder = web.GetFolder(id);
    url = folder.ServerRelativeUrl;
    Console.WriteLine(url);
    catch (System.IO.FileNotFoundException ex)
    Console.WriteLine(ex.Message);
    Console.ReadLine();

  • Strange character at the end of some file/folder names

    I'm getting a strange character at the end of some of my file and folder names. This is it:  When I enlarge it, it says "private use" on the top and bottom, "E000" on the left side, and "F8FF" on the right side. It acts like a character within the font, but I'm not sure why it's there.
    In case that didn't work, I'm going to try to attach or embed a gif of the character. I'm not sure if it will work or not.
    Also, some longer file names seem to be dleeting some of the letters and are inserting a pound sign and a few numbers (e.g. #34) in place of the letters.
    What's going on?
    As usual, thanks in advance,
    Lloyd

    I thought that might be it...at first. Then I found some file names that were nowhere near 32 characters long whose names were truncated.
    It's not a huge problem, except in QuarkXPress when I collect the files for output and I have to reconnect to the ones whose names have been changed (to protect the innocent, I suppose).
    Thanks for the input mark.

  • MP3 CDs won't work in car stereo

    Hello. I've tried multiple burning tests with iTunes, Toast, and the Finder. I'm trying to get an MP3 CD to work in my 2007 Mazda 6 (five CD changer). The manual says it will read MP3 CDs, and I am burning MP3s... not AACs. When the CD is loaded into my car, I only get track 1 without any audio. Time does elapse as if it is playing something, but I don't hear anything. If I try to skip to the next track, it stays on track 1. I can even search through track 1... but still no audio.
    Has anyone had any luck making an MP3 CD with Mac software? Would you mind listing the steps you took in order to create one? Thank you!

    Here's my hardware and software:
    iTunes 7.0.1 (up to date)
    Toast 6.1.1 (up to date)
    Dual 2 GHz PowerPC G5
    Memorex CD-R 52x blank media
    HL-DT-ST DVD-RW GWA-4165B
    Here's what I did before my first post:
    1 - Burned two songs with iTunes using the MP3 CD option. Maxium Possible speed. Closed and verified the disc.
    2 - Burned two songs with the Finder as a data disc. No folders. Maxium Speed Possible.
    3 - Burned two songs with Toast as a data disc. Mac & PC option. No folders. Maxium Speed Possible.
    4 - Burned two songs with Toast as a data disc. Mac & PC option. No folders. 8x speed.
    5 - Burned two songs with Toast as a data disc. Mac & PC option. No folders. 4x speed.
    6 - Burned two songs with Toast as a MP3 disc. No folders. Maxium Possible.
    7 - Burned two songs with Toast as a MP3 disc. No folders. 8x speed.
    8 - Burned two songs with Toast as a MP3 disc. No folders. 4x speed.
    I'm out of options on how to test this thing. Before I figure out if MP3 CD players only work with certain burners, cds, etc. I do not have another MP3 CD player to test it on in my house. My car is the only player that reads MP3 CDs. Any more ideas? I really appreciate your help!
