MP3 Conversion to Audiobook Format (MP3 to M4B Conversion)

I have several (175 to be exact) MP3 files that are part of a very lengthy sales course. I would really like to have these in the audiobooks section of my i-Pod/i-tunes so it doesn't rotate into my music choices/shuffles etc.
Is there an easy way to convert these and have them stored in the audiobooks? I have seen a couple remedies that do not neccesarily work. Thanks for any input anyone can give.

Well I figured it out. Turns out if you go to Sync(little down arrow)>DEVICE_NAME>Advanced Options>Quality if you leave it on automatic it will transfer wav files, but if you change it (I did without knowing) then the highest quality you're going to get is 92 WMA.

  • Mp3 codec for mpeg2 format?

Hello, do you think you can advise: I am using After Effects CS3. I need to produce a video - the requirements are as follows:
IT MUST BE AN MPEG2 FILE, FOLLOWING THESE  SPECS:
    MPEG2 (2:2:0)
    • Window Size: 720x480
    • Frame Rate: 30 FPS (other  frame rates will severely affect quality and not recommended)
    • Video  Bitrate: 8 Mbps video constant bitrate.
    • Video Codec: MPEG Layer 2
    •   Audio Bitrate: 320 kbps audio
    • Audio Codec: MP3 (44kHz stereo)
    •  Multiplexed (Muxed)
but when I want to render my project - there is no such option "mp3 audiocodec" for MPEG2 format. Am I missing something?
Also - even though my composition is set to 720 x 480 and I am renderig it using the same settings - when I play it in Windows Media PLayer - it is displayed at different dimensions (640 x 480). What am I supposed to modify to comply with the above requirements (720x480)?
    Any help is appreciated!
    Thank you.

Mylenium, THANK YOU for your answer. Well the thing is - we do not intend to put the video on DVD. Instead - they will produce FLV file of it AND (because we're talking about video for the online press release) according to them:
IF YOU WOULD LIKE YOUR VIDEO  AVAILABLE FOR MEDIA DOWNLOAD, IT MUST BE AN MPEG2 FILE,
    FOLLOWING THESE  SPECS:
    MPEG2 (2:2:0)
    • Window Size: 720x480
    • Frame Rate: 30 FPS (other  frame rates will severely affect quality and not recommended)
    • Video  Bitrate: 8 Mbps video constant bitrate.
    • Video Codec: MPEG Layer 2
    •   Audio Bitrate: 320 kbps audio
    • Audio Codec: MP3 (44kHz stereo)
    •  Multiplexed (Muxed)
(sorry for repeating the same info).
Does this make more sense to you now? Is it even possible to "multiplex" mp3 to mpeg2 format? There is good chance the video will not even have audio (but then AE produces m2v file) - but in case it will?
Thank you again for your time!

  • Can MediaSource display MP3 file name instead of MP3 tag information? ; Playlist default locat

?I am using Creative MediaSource Player 5.0.38 as an MP3 player on my computer:?. Can we get MediaSource to display mp3 file names instead of mp3 tag information when file is being played as part of a Playlist???2. Playlists are stored in this location:
    C:\Documents and Settings\Administrator\Application Data\Creative\Media Database\
or if not logged in as Administrator:
C:\Documents and Settings\[name of your account]\Application Data\Creative\Media Database\?Unlike with Creative PlayCenter, default location of Playlists cannot be changed in Windows registry.?Is there any?way to change Playlist default location?
??3. If Shuffle play mode is selected, MediaSource will still always play the first file on the Playlist? and only then switch to shuffle mode. I found a workaround for this because old PlayCenter 2 had this problem, is this a known bug that they still haven't fixed after all these years???Message Edited by c627627 on 04-6-200706:33 PM

    Hi,
I understand you want to place description of Content type as refiner in Search Refinement.
Without coding, you may considering adding a column for description and use this column as refiner.

  • Data conversion from 212 format

I found a problem during conversion data.
I have a file which contains ASCII characters (in fact they're look
like ASCII on any editor) . I have to convert them to integer but I
know that data are organised into pairs of 12bit numbers packed into
    byte triplets (format 212).
I made some vi (which convert 2 following ASCII characters to binary,
then divide them to pairs of 4bits, then some rotation etc..) but the
whole conversion takes too much time (64kb file conversion is taking
    approx. 1minute).
    Thank you for any suggestions,
    Michael ([email protected])

    Dear Michal,
I hope this vi work faster.
Input: 3bytes, data type unsigned int (U8)
Output: 2 values, data type integer. (INT16)
of course read all file to memory. Don't read everytime from file by 3
    bytes.
    Deniss
ps. vi i send by e-mail.

  • .mp3 to audiobook format conversion

I have just uploaded an audiobook (.mp3 format) onto my ipod nano but it is just playing it as a music file. How do i set make my ipod regognise it as an audiobook? as far as i know it is supposed to recognise it and exclude it from shuffle etc
There must be a way of changing the file type so its put in the aubiobook section, but I don't know how !!!! i have iTunes latest version.

Check the links provided. The key is to convert to AAC (or is it ACC?). You need to get the right settings (again, see links). However, one issue I have run in to is when I tried checking the "optimize for voice" setting. When converting from a CD, that setting induced a hiss to all the books I downloaded. Once I unchecked it, it worked fine. I have ripped over 100 books, so to me it was not a case of operator error. I went back and did the same 4 books that had this issue without "optimize for voice" and they all worked fine.
A thing to look for in the instructions - when you convert to AAC they will still show up in your music folder. To make them true audiobooks to your Ipod, you will need to change the converted file from xxx.m4a to xxx.m4b. Then it will show up under "audiobooks" on the Ipod and be truly seperate from you music.

  • Converting MP3 to Audiobook format

I downloaded a 3-part series from a public radio website. The files are in MP3 format. I want this program to appear as an audiobook on my iPhone instead of residing in my music library. How do I make that happen?
    PowerBook G4 12-inch (PPC) 1.25GB RAM   Mac OS X (10.4.10)   2nd gen shuffle - iPhone

Thanks. That's what I needed. Here's how I did it...
Converted the MP3 files to AAC audio files i.e. M4A.
Converted the M4A files to Protected AAC audio files i.e. M4B files. To do this I used an Applescript named MakeBookmarkable.scpt found at:
    http://dougscripts.com/itunes/scripts/scripts07.php?page=1#makebookmarkable
The script installs in yourhomefolder/Library/iTunes/Scripts. After restarting iTunes the script menu will be present. To run the script simply select the item (AAC audio file) in the music library, and select Make Bookmarkable from the Script menu. After the script runs it removes the selection from the music library and puts it in the audiobook library.
To clean up, I deleted the original MP3 files from the music library.

  • Conversion of UNKNOWN files to mp3 or other readable format

After recording and saving my music to the desktop, I'm not able to open the files after storing them on a thumb drive. Also, if I email the files to myself, they won't open due to being UNKNOWN. I know there has to be something out there to fix this problem........HELP!

    Hi, BC -
If the thumb drive is formatted as a PC (not Mac) volume, that could cause the problem. OS 9 uses File Type and Creator codes embedded in a file in order to determine which app to use to open the file (Creator code) and how the app should process it (Type code). All too often when a file is saved to a volume formatted as a PC volume, those codes are stripped off of the file.
Much of the time the result is an inconvenience - although the file won't open when double-clicked (because OS 9 can't idenitfy what it is), it will usually open when dropped onto the icon of an appropriate program. In this case, try dropping one of the files (or a copy of one - that's safer) onto the icon of QuickTime Player. If it opens and plays okay, if you have QT Pro then you may be able to use the Save As or Export function in QT Player's File menu to get an MP3 or .mov of it.
You can also try adding the File Type and Creator codes to the file. To do that, download the OS 9 version of FileBuddy. Drop a copy of one of the files onto FileBuddy's icon; a window showing a number of file characteristics will open. In the bottom center are two boxes, one labelled Type and the other labelled Creator. In the Type box enter Mp3  - note that there is a fourth character, a space, after the "3". In the Creator box enter TVOD. Save the window, and you should exit to the desktop. The file should now display a QT icon, and, if the changes worked, when you double-click it it should run as an Mp3 in QT Player.
Note - all File Type and Creator codes are case-sensitive; that is, attention must be paid to upper and lower case for each character. Also, all such codes are exactly 4 characters long, hence the need to add the space after the 3 in the Type code.
With FileBuddy you can easily create a droplet, a mini-app with a single purpose. In this case, after adding the codes but before clicking the Save button in FB's window, click the icon that looks like a water drop near the top center of its window. Follow the prompts to create a droplet. Place the droplet in a convenient place; any files dropped onto it will have their codes changed to the ones you entered. If you want to be able to process a folderful of files at a time, double-click the droplet, click the Configure button, then checkmark the "Modify items inside folders" item. Caution - once that is done, all files (regardless of what they may have been) which are in a folder dropped onto the droplet will have their codes changed to that of a QT Mp3 file.

  • Itunes audiobook to mp3

I've just spent £14 on an audiobgook in itunes for my speedo swimming mp3 to find I can't convert it to mp3.  Do I have any options?  Does this mean I'll have to get audiobooks from elsewhere?

You will find it is DRM protected. So it cannot be copied over. Programs Converting to m4b format I think are illegal due to copywright. So buying from another source may be your best legal option
