MP3 conversions

Hi
Is it possible to convert AAC,AIFF etc, to MP3 format within iTunes ?
My latest car only plays MP3 CD's . I'm sure, unless the brain has fudded that my old eMac iTunes would convert to MP3.
Or if iTunes not capable can anyone recommend an Audio converter ?
Cheers
Peter

in iTunes, go preferences > general. click on +import settings+ and set +import using+ to e.g. MP3 (or AAC) encoder. in setting, choose the desired bitrate and okay out.
select the songs to be converted and, from the advanced menu, choose +create MP3 version+

  • Music will not play after AAC to MP3 conversion

Hi, Please help! Over the past couple of days I have converted ALL my music (46GB) from the mix of MP3 and AAC to all being MP3 at 160bit rate. I removed all the music from iTunes and then just re-added the new MP3 conversions. Now when I open iTunes I get the following error box "iTunes has detected a problem with your audio configuration. Audio/Video playback may not operate properly". The tracks will simply not play. The MP3 files work fine when burnt onto a CD via my burning software. I have re-installed Quicktime as advised, but don't want to re-do iTunes as I have loads of playlists created. Anyone any ideas on how I can fix it? My XP machine is fully up to date, iTunes is latest version, all drivers are up to date and valid. Many thanks in advance, Ewan

I fixed it by deleting the MP3 and re-loaded / re-sync it back.
It took over 2 hrs as I had over 1000 Mp3.

  • MP3 Conversion to Audiobook Format (MP3 to M4B Conversion)

I have several (175 to be exact) MP3 files that are part of a very lengthy sales course. I would really like to have these in the audiobooks section of my i-Pod/i-tunes so it doesn't rotate into my music choices/shuffles etc.
Is there an easy way to convert these and have them stored in the audiobooks? I have seen a couple remedies that do not neccesarily work. Thanks for any input anyone can give.

  • Help -- MP3 conversion problems

Currently converting wave files from SoundTrack Pro into mp3 by using the Automator for encoding and import into i-tunes. Although the wave file sound is clear and clean, the mp3 files have a slight echo/reverb to them and I have not been able to overcome this.
    1. Does anybody have a solution to the echo?
    2. Is there a better program available for conversion to mp3?
Any help will be appreciated, as clients are not ecstatic about this "new" sound.

The other tip is very helpful, but you can also use iTunes.
Drag your file (AIFF or WAV) into your Library and convert it by rightclicking on it and choosing "Convert selection to ...". Before you do this, set the proper mp3 format in your iTunes preferences (Preferences - Advanced - Importing). I think the default is AAC import, so you have to change that when you need an mp3. Import using mp3 encoder, custom... Then choose something like 192 or better kbps bitrate, [x] Use Variable Bit Rate Encoding and Joint Stereo. This will render a pretty decent mp3 file.
    Good luck!

  • Freeze/Crash during MP3 conversion

I've been using iTunes to convert WAVs to MP3s for file size reasons. In the last week, iTunes has become temperamental and nearly always freezes/crashes during the conversion process. I have tried reinstalling. Is there something I overlooked?
    Note: I am converting to 320kbps @ 44.100 kHz MP3s.

I don't know why it's crashing as I avoid using iTunes for encoding anything.
There are a few audio conversion programmes about, have a quick google, you'll hit gold in no time.

  • DVD to MP3 conversion

I would like to know if iTunes or any other Mac application can take DVD to an MP3 file. I see lots of Windows applications that can do this, but do not know of applications for Mac to do this. The end result is to take DVD recordings and import them into iPod.
    PowerBook G4   Mac OS X (10.3.9)

Thanks for your reply. I am just interested in getting the audio (MP3). My iPod is not a video model, audio only. I want to extract the audio from the DVD video recordings and produce MP3 files.
It looks like Handbrake can do this. I have been reading a lot about needing to use special calculators and determine bitrates and such. Is there a simple guide for using handbrake to take DVD recordings to produce an audio MP3 for import into iPod?

  • Vinyl to mp3 conversion - using ION profile LP turntable

I recently purchased the ION Profile LP turntable that comes with ION ez Audio Converter for MAC. I plan to convert about 600 old lp's to mp3 to be used on my IPOD. My question...is there anywhere to obtain an updated version of this software in the MAC version...the version that came with the turntable is really lame, you have to babysit it and manually insert a track change or it all runs together in one long track....I know its automatic for PC users...but I need a MAC compatible upgrade...or different software that will work with the MAC.....
    can anyone help?

  • FLAC to MP3 Conversion (Stereo or Joint Stereo)

    Hello Again :
I regularly concert FLAC files to 192 kB MP3s using dBpoweramp Music Converter. This program's default / auto setting is Joint Stereo, as identfied in the "iTune | Get Info" option. Generallly, what's better : Stereo or Joint Stereo? I would very much appreciate if someone could clear this up for me. Thanks kindly.

The commands are straightforward. All they are doing is creating a local subdirectory in the usr directory, and then a bin subdirectory in the new local directory, so you'll be able to load the software and not have it overwritten/destroyed when a new update comes along. That's good practice.
The warning you're getting is standard operating procedure, the first time you execute the sudo command. Just take your time and follow the steps. Note, after you enter the sudo command, you'll get back Password: which requires you to enter your admin password. Do it slowly and carefully, then hit the return key. Don't worry if you muck entering the password, you can try three times.

  • Stereo vs. Joint Stereo (in FLAC to MP3 conversion) ?!

    Hi friends :
I often convert lossless FLAC files to MP3s at a constant bit rate of 192 kb/s. I then import the MP3s into my iTunes library.
I have tried two different FLAC converters: Switch Sound File Converter (Lame 3.82) and dBpoweramp Music Converter (Lame 3.98). The audio quality is virtually the same. However; the converted Switch files are in "Stereo" while the dBpoweramp files are in "Joint Stereo."
At a bit rate of 192, which should sound better : the Switch-created MP3s in Stereo, or the dBp-created MP3s in Joint Stereo?
Basically, which is better ... Stereo vs. Joint Stereo ?
All of the different articles on the Internet leave me confused. I just want to choose between the Switch and dBpoweramp converters.
Thanks for any help at all.

  • ACC to MP3 conversion created m4a files

I no longer have an iPhone so I converted my music library to mp3 from acc files to make them compatable with our cars USB flash drive input headunits.
Everything got converted to m4a files.  Is there a way to convert to true mp3 files?

Think I have this sorted out.  My assumption was that the mp3 files would be in the Music\iTunes folder structure.
Folders have the m4a files, however when I cut/paste the file direct from itunes, it pastes as a mp3 file.
So I did a search and found a alternative path (subfolder \music folder) with my entire music library copied as mp3 files.
I guess this is a good thing as I still retained the Apple file version, as well have a seperate mp3 set.

  • FLAC & SHN to MP3 Conversion

    Hi,
I have DLd a program called MacFLAC to convert FLAC files to MP3 and am encountering difficulty.
It was suggested that I first DL a program called FlacInstall which I did.
    1) When moving the FLAC file into the decoder I got the following message: sh: line 1: /usr/local/bin/flac: No such file or directory
    2) One MacFLAC comment said to type the following into the terminal:
    cd /usr
    sudo mkdir local
    cd local
    sudo mkdir bin
    sudo mkdir lib
So I cut and pasted that into the Terminal, which replied:
WARNING: Improper use of the sudo command could lead to data loss or the deletion of important system files. Please double-check your typing when using sudo. Type "man sudo" for more information.
I want to make sure I don't screw anything up.
Can anyone assist? Thanks in advance!

  • WAV to MP3 conversion not working

I just bought an iTalk which records voice memos as .wav files. I right-clicked on one and chose "Convert Selection to MP3" and iTunes creates an .mp3 file (888kb from the original 1.2 MB .wav file), but when I try playing it in WinAMP, I get no sound. I sent it to a co-worker and he hears nothing as well. Help?

I have tried multiple times to do what you have on iTunes, just in order to make an mp3 cd for my car with more songs that a regular audio cd. It is frustrating that you cannot do this with the music you have purchased on iTunes.
You can very easily do it.
Simply select MP3 CD or Data CD.
In order to make an MP3 CD, the files must already be MP3 but converting is simple.

  • Certain MP3s will not play on my iPod despite reset, mp3 conversion, resetting tags, etc.  What gives?

I had this problem with my last iPod too but it's particularly egregious this time around.  These are mp3s that I ripped from my own CDs and that worked for a while and then just stopped.  It's several thousand (my iPod is 120 GB and I'm a serious music fan).  This is super annoying and I'd like to find a way to fix it.  It will play songs and then just skip some.  If it is shuffling, it also fails to register the song that was played previously?
This has been an issue for several years with multiple iPod models.  Someone has to have some kind of explanation?  Please?

You haven't mentioned re-registering the DLL's in windows xp which is the suggested fix on Windows XP for ipod's doing this.
Disconnect the iPod from the computer and close iTunes.
Copy the 10 lines below (highlight and ctrl+c or right-click and copy)
    regsvr32 /s softpub.dll
    regsvr32 /s wintrust.dll
    regsvr32 /s dssenh.dll
    regsvr32 /s rsaenh.dll
    regsvr32 /s gpkcsp.dll
    regsvr32 /s sccbase.dll
    regsvr32 /s slbcsp.dll
    regsvr32 /s mssip32.dll
    regsvr32 /s cryptdlg.dll
    regsvr32 /s initpki.dll
    Open notepad:
    1. Start>Run
    2. Type 'notepad'
    3. Hit return
Paste the text into notepad (ctrl+v or right-click and paste)
Save the file as registerdll.bat on your desktop
    Close notepad
Doubleclick the registerdll.bat file on the desktop
A command prompt will appear and these items will be processed. When it is finished you can delete the batch file.
See if it then syncs okay.

  • Text to Speech(mp3) conversion in flash

    Hi ,
I want to convert text to Speech without using Google api.So that I can run the application offline.
So is there a way to convert  text to Speech (mp3) and upload the converted mp3 file in a folder in flash as3.
    Thanks.

I have found that Text-to-Speech works just fine in Yosemite's Preview application — without changing any standard settings. I added additional voices, and it works equally well with these too. You should not expect Text-to-Speech functionality with text that is incorporated into a graphic though.
Both Edit > Speech  > Start Speaking, and after enabling in Text-to-Speech Preferences, Speak selected text when the key is pressed (option+Esc).
