MP3 files don't show album artwork unless I move them to another directory. Why?

I am running 10.8.3.
If I navigate to a folder that has an MP3 file in it, the album art doesn't show in Finder or in Quick Look or Cover Flow. If I move that file, anywhere, it shows correctly. There is one artist that I had spelled the name incorrectly, and now that the two albums from that artist are relocated to a new folder because the name changed, the artwork is fine for them.
I have read some other threads about people having trouble embedding artwork, or it not showing up in Finder properly but the issue doesn't seem to be the same as what I am experiencing. I know the images are embedded because of the fact that when I move them around, they work perfectly.
Is there a cache that can be cleared regarding this perhaps?
Does anybody have any ideas?

If the album art is embedded in the MP3 file in an APIC frame of an id3v2 tag then the music player will display it.

and mark the 'Display album artwork on your ipod',
and then OK, it shows me an error window:

I found the problem.
You have to display the album artwork in your itunes
library before you transform the song to the ipod.
Then, it will show.

If your music in iTunes has album art now, it should show up in iTunes match, although there are plenty of examples on the board where users have had to do a lot of work to get their art to display. iTunes Match does not go look for album art for you, so if you don't have art for songs that are in your iTunes library, it won't add them.
If you have iTunes set to go look for album art when you import a CD, then in most cases it should find album art for it and tag the tracks.

That's what I thought - Apple generally has clean interfaces, so if I can't find an option to do something, it probably doesn't exist.

I tried to add the album artwork thousand time but no use...
Restore didnt help as well...

no, it shows only for some, the old ones...not the newly imported ones
I select all the songs from the album, I drag the picture -from folder or safari- then i drop it in the artwork box...
sometimes shows for the first song only, but always shows for the album little preview, and never for the rest of the songs...

First, you have to embbed picture into mp3 file with idtag editors (tagalicious, musicbrainz picard, mp3tag, id3tag editor...).
Then you'll have to install at least Itunes 10.5.1(42), even if you're not using Itunes at all.
Albumarts will now appear in every folder from the finder.

Those are Flash content types. Flash doesn't exist on iOS, and won't exist on any future mobile platforms, according to Adobe.

Yes, it can. Launch iTunes with the Option key held down and navigate to that instance of the library.

ITunes does not show album artwork for FLAC files

I add FLAC music files to iTunes via Fluke which works perfectly.
Then I add the album artworks to the albums as usual (select all songs/right click/get info/info/then drag and drop a previously downloaded .jpg file). The artwork is visible in the Artwork column, in the Cover Flow but not in the right click/get info/info/artwork.
Which would not be a problem itself, but I use a Logitech Squeezebox Duet and on the controller there is no artwork for albums with FLAC files.
It is only with FLACs, MP3s work fine.
Any idea, what is it all about?

TV Show Album Artwork

Hi,
I would like to know how to see each album artwork of a TV Show season individually without only seeing one album artwork representing all the seasons (in Cover Flow)?
And I don't want to rename my TV shows by adding "- Season X"...

It's not very logic of iTunes to put TV Show seasons being represented by one album artwork on Cover Flow mode (which is how my library is presented).
Song albums are not all represented by one album artwork because they are done by the same artist, so why would TV Shows be like that? lol
Even if the seasons are from the same TV Show, it does not mean they are about the same thing (and therefore should not be categorized by the same artwork). So if one uses Cover Flow mode to find items on iTunes, it can get annoying.
The reason why I don't add "Season 1,2..." at the end of the TV Show name is because then there would be way too many individual TV Shows on my iPod.

Don't wanna album artworks keep floating on the main menu

Is there any way to disable album artworks keep floating on the main menu of iPod classic?
I think Apple should give us a choice to disable this function with next iPod firmware update.
Some album artworks I don't want to show up there. And the key point is, the resolution of all my album artworks are 200 x 200. It is really enough for my 5G iPod video. But for my new iPod classic, all artworks would be force to enlarge the size for floating on the main menu like screensaver, and they look really crap.
And I think those new default icons on iPod classic are really nice and that's what I prefer to show

Given the resolution you've got them at, the other occurances of them in the UI - like CoverFlow and album art when a track is playing - also probably look not great.
Turn of the option of synching them completely via the Music tab for the iPod in iTunes. Gets rid of the issue completely - and as you say leaves more useful icons in some places.

QT files don't show in explorer

I have searched this forum, and others have had similar problems, but I haven't seen any solutions - are there any?
I maintain a website for our school, we are trying to make use of qt for audio and video formats. The success rate is poor. All my tests in various file formats eg mp3, mov, mp4, mp4 (H.264), 3gp, flv, all work well in Safari and Firefox.
In IE6 some show up and some don't. For example a 3gp movie straight from phone, plays back on all browsers. But if I use qt to just take a clip of the 3gp file, and save in qt 3gp, it doesn't play in IE or in Firefox for windows machines.
It's driving me crazy! I am sick of getting great results on the Mac side, but this incompatibility on the Windows side. Sadly most viewers of our site will have IE, so we need QT to work globally.
Is it just me, or is this a problem? Can I work around it? Is there a format that will allow retention of quality and small file size at the same time, using qt?

I don't know what that code is that you've pasted. Maybe a Perl script from a PHP file?
But it does use QTSRC (as opposed to SRC) when it does the voodoo it does.
So. It should call any QuickTime format into the browser window in the space you've provided.
M$ has "tweaked" just about all the code used in any file format used in Web pages. All of the other browsers use the old "Netscape" style browser plug-in but M$ still uses ActiveX so we Mac users must write special code to first "call" it and then more code to avoid ActiveX "security issues" and alert dialogs.
I've had to modify (along with millions of other Web page authors) all of my pages that include QT content to a newer "javascript" and "object:" tag code just so those M$ viewers can see my 5 year old pages without a bunch of alerts and warnings.
I can only suspect that your "blog" software is writing bad code (doubtful if it works using a Mac and Safari) or that your end users still have some "control" even though you're forcing QuickTime be used via the qtsrc tag.
I'll bet it is a MIME type issue from your server (those that actually host your files and pages).
Maybe a call to them could help sort things out?

Some mp3 files do not show up on creative centrale

i have some mp3 files that work and are fine on the pc but when i try and open the file on centrale there is nothing in the folder - these files are taged so it cant be that? they are downloaded from the internet and are not from a music cd? so they dont have gracenote recognition - is this the reason ?

I don?t think that is the reason. I think there is some problem with the synchronization.

Text files don't show on fillable form after saving on a mac

I have a fillable form with text and check fileds on it, if a user filles it on a windows pc and saves it all works fine, but if a user does the same thing on a MAC then the text fields don't show.

Avoid touching any PDF (in particular any PDF form file) with Preview.
