MP3 in iWeb (version 1.1.2)

I have been using iWeb to create my website and then downloading it through a third-party FTP program to my non-Mac host.
The problem I've been having is with my audio files. Why are the PC-users who are trying to access the MP3's on my site not able to hear them? Is there a way to have the MP3's on my site not connected to Quicktime? If so, how?
Please advise.

you can use a javascript, that should do it. I have more than 60 Video Tutorials on my site for free, many of them on iWeb so please have a look, as some of them definitely address this question.
It is at http://www.australianmac.com and click on Tutorials on the top of the page. If they do not help then email me from the site and I will make you one that does.

  • Iweb version which allows to open 2 domains at a time

which iweb version which allows to open 2 domains at a time. where to download? works with lion?

You don't have to be a programmer to be able to download one piece of sotware that will allow you to merge domain files, so that is no excuse.
Also, whichever version of iWeb you use, it is impossible to have two domain files open at any one time to be able to drop and drag between the two.  The ony possible way of achieving this is if you have ONE domain file with all your sites there and on the left hand side it is possible to drag and drop between the sites.
That is why you were told to download the iWebSites programme specifically so that you could merge your domain files to do what you wanted.
The previous thread does appear to show that you successfully downloaded this programme and understood at some level how it worked - so what has changed?
Downgrading to any other version of iWeb will NOT help you and you can't drag and drop between domain files unless you have one domain file and you can then drag and drop between the sites and pages.
Other than this, you can't do what you want to and no messing around with different version of iWeb will change this.

  • How do you import mp3 to latest version of i-tunes?

How do you import mp3s to latest version of I-Tunes?

File menu -> Add to Library. If you don't see the menus, press Control-B.
Or you can just drag the track files into the iTunes window. You may need to be in the Songs view, though I haven't experimented with other views.

  • How to Fix Frozen iWeb Version 1.1.2

Heres a way to fix frozen iWeb Version 1.1.2. This way works with 1.1.2 and i'v only tested using v1.1.2 it might work with 1.1.1 and im not sure if your verion is v.1.1.1 just update to 1.1.2 and if it still not work use this way
    You need to...
Right click on iWeb go show package contents. go in to contents and you will see a version.plist open that with textedit you will see this with some more information at the top don't worry about this.
    <key>BuildVersion</key>

    <key>CFBundleShortVersionString</key>
--> <string>1.1.2</string>We want to look at this string
    <key>CFBundleVersion</key>
    <string>189</string>
we want to look at the <string>1.1.2</string> this will vary with what version you have it will if you have Version 1.1.2 you need to change this string to <string>1.1.0</string>. save and download the 1.1.1 update from http://www.apple.com/support/downloads/iweb111.html
    And install update and done!
Tihs is done by tricking iWeb thinking its version 1.1.0 when its not so you can install an update to it.

There is not any physical Apple Store in my city.
The link I gave you enables you to find out a forgotten ID - you will go through a process to identify yourself to Apple. Once the ID is known, 'iforgot' can be used to get the password. You didn't previously say anything bout it being hacked - if you have good reason to suspect that, this Apple Help page provides contact information for various countries for security problems with an Apple ID:

  • How do I import a iWeb file from another computer to my computer? I have Lion and iweb version 3.0.4

My friend has been working on a website on her iWeb on her computer and I would like to take over on mine. Does anyone know how to do this?
    thanks!

Once you copy the Domain.sties file from your friend's computer to yours consider the following:
In Lion the Library folder is now invisible. To make it permanently visible enter the following in the Terminal application window: chflags nohidden ~/Library and hit the Enter button - 10.7: Un-hide the User Library folder.
To open your domain file in Lion or to switch between multiple domain files Cyclosaurus has provided us with the following script that you can make into an Applescript application with Script Editor. Open Script Editor, copy and paste the script below into Script Editor's window and save as an application.
do shell script "/usr/bin/defaults write com.apple.iWeb iWebDefaultsDocumentPath -boolean no"delay 1
    tell application "iWeb" to activate
You can download an already compiled version with this link: iWeb Switch Domain.
Just launch the application, find and select the domain file you want to open and it will open with iWeb. It modifies the iWeb preference file each time it's launched so one can switch between domain files.
WARNING: iWeb Switch Domain will overwrite an existing Domain.sites2 file if you select to create a new domain in the same folder.  So rename your domain files once they've been created to something other than the default name.

  • Can't drag anymore mp3 into ITunes version 11.1.138

I now have ITunes Version 11.1.138 but I used to have an earlier version 8 before. At that time I was able to simply drag an mp3 (from whichever pc file)  into  Itunes which also inserted the same mp3 into my 160G Classic IPod. Now with ITunes Version 11, it no longer works. Now I have to click in ITunes File tab>Add File to Library = Only then will the mp3 go to Itunes and IPod.
But that's not the end of it.
I now have an additional file in Computer/Local Disk C/ Ipod Music  with so far 46.3GB which I don't need since the mp3 are already in other Mp3 files.
Also this new IPod music file creates a new sub-file every time I insert an mp3 in ITunes & IPod.  The worst thing is the sub-file is identified by a title like F00 - F01-F02  and on and on. Each of these sub-files  (when I open them) show the track simply by 4 letters like CHOO or JDWT as example; thus no title or description like I have for all my mp3s  ie., ''Gary Peacock - Tales of Another - 01 - Vignette''
In other words I can't even Identify them anymore.
Am I doing something wrong or is this the new M.O. ?
Help please and Happy Holidays to All with Yours.

    Hello Ed,
Re:  your 2nd question:  If you mean taking the Gary Peacock mp3 and copy it to the Library Itune Folder = no problem. The full mp3 listing is properly shown.
But if you mean going to ITunes and ''Automatically Add to ITunes'' folder I can't see any such tab in ITunes tabs or sub-tabs.
Re: your 1st comment: Not seeing that phenomenon...... quite strange on my part. it does not insert by dragging.
I even tried to go back to an earlier version installation (after uninstalling version 11 and cleaning  registry) and I'm getting a message that it's now impossible to go back to an earlier version. Can you beleive this.
Yours truly, an old 78yrs old geezer with puter experience is bewildered for a first time and embarrassed.
I'm tempted to delete that Ipod Music file of some 46.3GB but am afraid to loose all music in my Ipod which is not connected at the moment.
I have now connected my IPod to my puter and tried dragging an mp3 file to Itunes it still does not work.

  • How do I embed downloadable mp3 in iWeb?

    Hello,
I want to enbed some downloable mp3's on my web-page created in iWeb. As I see it I can only drag the files on to the page but then they are transformed in Quicktime Player links to be listened to while on the page, NOT downloadable.
I have been reading here and there on the Internet to find a solution and also downloaded Cyberduck and trasfered a file to the server hosting my site but then I did not know what to do next. iWeb changes the setting if I try to make a hyperlink to the ftp-adress on the server, and sends me to the apple.live-page. Grrr...
    Help?
    Thanks in advance!

See this page for info about audio file upload...
    http://www.iwebformusicians.com/AudioFiles/Upload.html
You can create a folder - audio - and upload it to the root folder on your server which is the one with the folder containing your website files and the external index.html file.
See this page for more info about creating downloads and how to create a PC compatible ZIP...
    http://www.iwebformusicians.com/iWeb/PDFs.html
The URL to download a zip file in the "audio" folder would be...
    http://www.domain-name.com/audio/file-name.zip
Make sure your audio file names don't have any spaces or special characters in them!

  • Downloading new iWeb versions

Help! I am trying to download to the newest version of iWeb compatible with OSX version 10.4.11.
I am now using iWeb 1.1.2. Wish to go to 2.0.3 then 2.0.4. When I try to install version 2.0.3 I get an alert that tells me " an eligible iWeb application was not found in the location/application" . What am I missing? Thanks.

You can't install iWeb 2 unless you've purchased iLife 08.

  • GB3 mp3 rss iWeb downloadable file?

I can't figure out how to make this happen. Please help!
    Here is the problem:
GB3 will only export m4a. Windows Media Player won't play m4a. Most of our audience (and client) only have this player.
I have tried to "share with iTunes" and then use the "convert to mp3," but nothing happens. The file remains m4a.
Next, assuming this problem is resolved, question: Will the mp3 file be rss?
Next, if the file is rss, how can it be incorporated into iWeb? Drag and drop between iTunes and iWeb does not work for me.
This is making me crazy! Please someone help me.

Once you "send to iTunes" GarageBand sends an uncompressed AIFF file to iTunes and adds it to your library. Once there, you can select it can use the Convert Selection to.. option to make it an MP3. Before you can use MP3, you have to go into iTunes's preferences and set it as the default for conversion.
In iTunes 6.02, open the preferences, then click on the "Advanced" page. Inside there click on the "Importing" tab. Next select "Import Using: MP3 Encoder"
I recommend configuring the encoder settings too. I don't know what the defaults are, but if you are doing a podcast which is dialog only, you don't require a high bitrate. Click "Setting: Custom" Set the "Bitrate" to something like 64, or 128. This will make the file very small. You can fiddle with the rest of the settings, but bit rate will be the primary setting which controls the size of your finished MP3 file.
I recommend trying a couple of settings, and once you have something you like, it will remain the default for all future conversions.
After you convert an episode, I recommend that you create a playlist to organize your episodes. This will make them much easier to find when using iWeb.
Now, using iWeb is easy. Just open iWeb and if you don't already have one, add a podcast page using teh big "+" plus button in the lower left corner.
Each new episode you add to this page, will have a defaul place-holder audio item in the middle of the screen.
Open up the Media Browser, click on "Audio" tab, then click iTunes.
If you turn the disclosure triangle next to the iTunes item, you should see all of your playlists. Select the playlist which contains your episode, or, click on "iTunes" in the list and find your podcast episode among the songs in your library.
Once you have your podcast file, drag and drop it onto the place-holder item on your episode page in iWeb. It should replace the place-holder. Next, add an episode description, and artwork and click publish.
    Its just that easy.

  • Managing multiple sites in different iWeb versions - PLEASE HELP!

apnewbie/cyclosaurus/roddy/old toad (and any others more knowledgeable than i):
i've run into a bit of a pickle. i am hoping someone can help straighten me out. i am about to jump out of a window. here's the rundown:
(for starters, i have a .mac account and am publishing to .mac.) i created a site in iWeb 1.1.2 on my work computer (mac book pro). worked great, really lovely. thought to myself, "hey, i'd like to create another site from home, but i don't have iWeb at home (powerbook G4) - i should buy iLife 08 so i can build these things from home and not have personal files on my work computer."
so: i had a site that i created within 1.1.2 with files written to iDisk. i purchased iWeb 08 and would like to have another site, but this one is being created in 2.0. i also am using a personal domain name this time around bought with google apps and hosted by godaddy. i published the new work in progress for a test run and...you guessed it...my original 1.1.2 site was rewritten by the 2.0 site. and the 2.0 site comes up as the standard google search page for domains that aren't up and running. whooopsie.
sorry for the lengthy intro, but that's the background. i guess my specific questions are:
    1) i want to be able to maintain multiple sites from iWeb 2.0...can i open my 1.1.2 domain file in 2.0 and successfully bring that site into 2.0?
    2) what is the most efficient and easiest way to get both of these sites running in 2.0? right now i have two domain files (created on two different computers).
    3) for domain management, is it best to move from the iWeb folder in my home library to different folders (one for each site, with separate domain files, and my 2.0 domain file is NOT called domain, it's the name of the site) to another location? (and of course, i will back these up just in case.) and when i want to update a site, i just open that individual domain file, right? or will these sites publish over each other?
please help. i am at my wits end. i'm sure this is a relatviely simple issue, but i'm new to iWeb.
thanks, thanks, thanks for your help guys.
    joojy

    joojy,
    Welcome to the forums!
First of all, your original 1.1.2 site may not, in fact, have been overwritten. It is quite possible that the site remains in it's position on the iDisk, Web/Sites/iWeb/YourSite, but because you published to the iDisk (.Mac) from 2.0, a different index.html file has been placed in the root level Web directory which is causing the 404 error. Navigate to the directory on the iDisk, using the Go menu in Finder, and look to see what is actually there. Follow this path:
    Go/iDisk/My iDisk/Web/Sites/iWeb/YourSiteWillBeHereIfYourLuckIsGood
If your site is there, great; if it isn't, it's not really a problem because hopefully you still have the Domain.sites file on the MacBook Pro and you can republish it if necessary. If it is there, you can modify the index.html file on the iDisk using a text editor and get your url redirected back to where it should be.
Second, do not open your 1.1.2 Domain.sites file with 2.0 until you have a backup of this Domain file. External drives are best for this. Assuming the backup is in place, launch 2.0, choose the Domain.sites file, and click on "update". It will be updated to a Domain.sites2 file. If the site looks ok then continue on with editing/publishing.
Skipping to question (3), by all means, abandon the default location of the Domain.sites file in the Home folder's Library and get accustomed to keeping your Domain files in their own, respective folders. When you want to open one just double-click it.
You are going to encounter difficulties publishing multiple sites in 2.0.2, unless you keep all of the sites in a single Domain file. 2.0 is publishing to a different directory on the iDisk than 1.0; it publishes to /Web/Sites/, as opposed to /Web/Sites/iWeb/. Publishing a site from a separate Domain file erases previously published sites. I have been able to publish multiple sites, from multiple Domain.sites2 files, by mounting the iDisk and actually moving the Site folder back one level, into the root Web folder, and then publishing. When finished, I move it back again. If you have RSS feeds you will probably get a 'file in use' error. The alternative, (other than keeping all sites in a single Domain), is to publish the site to a folder and then manually drop the Site folder into the Web/Sites/ directory on the iDisk. Of course, some .Mac functions are lost when publishing this way.
Work through this info and post back.

  • IWeb version 3.0.4 & adsense

What is the correct code to replace the Google Adsense Widget which USED to work beautifully? I want to stay with the "live ad" sizes already on my webpage but these are now blank on publication.
I apologize if I am asking a stupid question, but I really can't figure this out. Can you give me step by step?
On communities, Eodore said for me to:
The adsense widget doesn't work now that MobileMe has shut down.
You need to go to Google, get the code and paste it into an iWeb Snippet."
However, when I go to google and follow their steps <https://support.google.com/adsense/answer/181956?hl=en&ref_topic=28897>
The Code I get when I click on "Get and copy the Ad Code" doesn't work right.  Here is what I get  pasted in, and when I go to insert html the resulting space is enlarged enormously - Please help!
    <div class="com-apple-iweb-widget-googleads" id="widget1" style="background-color: #d2e3ec; height: 60px; left: 17px; opacity: 1.00; position: absolute; top: 559px; width: 468px; z-index: 1; "></div>
              <div class="com-apple-iweb-widget-googleads" id="widget2" style="background-color: #d2e3ec; height: 90px; left: 7px; opacity: 1.00; position: absolute; top: 15px; width: 120px; z-index: 1; "></div>
    IS that the correct code?

The code you pasted are two divs. Widget1 and widget2.
So you have two adsense pieces on your page.
The Google page shows a JavaScript.
    Copy your own code there.
Paste each Javascript piece of code between each div
    <div widget1>YOUR JAVASCRIPT</div>
    <div widget2>YOUR JAVASCRIPT</div>
A HTML snippet probably does not work because the javascript needs the content of the webpage.
So you have to add the code in the published page as described.
You asked this question before. Apparently nobody knows or cares about adsense.
