MP3 & MP4 Duration Times (Mavericks)

Can anybody help with this puzzler, please?
Whenever I download an mp4 or mp3 file to my desktop, its duration is not displayed under its title. When I move the same file into a folder, the duration is then shown. I do have switched on 'show all filename extensions' in the Finder preferences.
Attached are two photos of the same files. On the desktop,no duration time. In a folder, duration time displayed.

Hello there, Wizard_Magic_Spell.
The following Knowledge Base article provides some insight on how to get that feature to show:
OS X Mavericks: Choose options for viewing items in Finder windows
http://support.apple.com/kb/PH13896
Of particular note once your file is selected on your Desktop, then:
Choose View > Show View Options, then try out the different options and menu items. Your changes take effect immediately, so you can see the results of your choices.
In that window that opens you should see an option to "Show Item Info". Place a checkmark in that box and that should allow you to see the duration time.
Cheers,
Pedro.

  • Purchased iTunes song to mp3/mp4 non-ipod

I just purchased the theme to Star Trek for our daughter. She wants it on her mp3/mp4 player. It's not an iPod (too young for such an expensive item).
It's sitting on my Mac and I can't do a thing with it.
How do I get it onto her player so she can listen to it?
    Thanks!
    susan

iTunes downloads will only play on iPods or iTunes
phones due to the DRM (Digital Rights Management)
copy protection. However if you burn it to an audio
CD you can import it back as an MP3 track. You'll
lose some quality in the process but you'll be able
to use the track on other devices.
Thank you very much -- I Just went in and checked iTunes, and I'm not certain what to do -- do I export it or what?
Thanks -- this is the first time I'm trying to do this --

  • How do i change the duration time on my music

i want to make the duration time on one of my songs shorter but when i
    1. right click on the song
    2. click get info
    3. click options
    4. the box turns grey and doesn't let me click on anything
i can see the little thing that says start and stop time but it doesn't let me click it. what do i do?

    Repair iTunes Security Permissions
Right-click on your main iTunes folder and click Properties, then go to the Security tab and click Advanced. Use the Change Permissions... button grant to your account (or the Users group) and SYSTEM full control of this folder, subfolders and files, then tick the option to Replace permissions entries... which will repair permissions throughout the library. When complete switch to the General tab, click in the Read-only check box to clear it, then click Apply.
If you don't have the option to change the permissions then use the Owner tab and Edit... button to take ownership from an account with administrator privileges. Tick the option to Replace owner on subcontainers and objects.
Repeat with the media folder if it isn't stored inside the main iTunes folder.

Check with CD Baby - they have an agreement with Apple to get indie music on iTunes for sale.

Just bought Photoshop Elements 13...I'm trying to make a slideshow but can't figure out how to alter duration time that the slide is on the screen.  They presently move from one to another way too quickly...also need a different pan and zoom option.  Where are all the options I had in PS10?  Also...Can I burn this to a DVD?

The changes have brought improvements but also drawbacks compared with the old slideshow editor.
The templates are now fairly fixed but I find the “Classic Dark” gives reasonable results with some panning and you can click the audio button and browse you PC for any track. Unfortunately there are only three speed choices linked to the music track. The improvement for most people is that you can now export to your hard drive at 720p or 1080p and upload to sites like YouTube and Vimeo.

  • There is no sound generated by Beep.VI when using frequency and duration time. why? Thanks

    Hi,
I want to generate some beeps with certain frequency and duration time.
Setting "use system alert? (T)" true, I can hear the beep; Setting "use system alert? (T)" false, certain frequency and duration time, I can't hear any sound. Why?
    attachment is the VI.
    LabVIEW 8.2.1, WinXP

Your PC speaker only covers certain frequencies..  Mine goes as low as 37 Hz, which I cannot be distinguished from other lower frequencies.  I have to go up to 80 Hz before hearing any difference. I can hear up to 14000 Hz and barely 15000 Hz.  Now, you cannot compare this with a Hi-Fidelity sound system..
As for setting False, it will not play anything.  So all appears normal.. And of course, if it does not play anything, the duration setting is ignored..

EDIT:  I just read the othe people's posts..  The frequency & duration settings work fine on my machine.  It is a PC, running Win-XP.
(Finally, I can say something positive about a PC running XP.. )

If I understand the question correctly, you want to download certain file types and not play them. See

    Hi ateprojec…,
your vi is not executable for me! To measure the time you can use the "Tick Count (ms)" function.
[edit] ok, i think it´s not the time you want. Can you explain a little bit about what you mean? [/edit]
    Hope it helps.

  • Long duration time extraction BKPF table

I have access to SAP R/3 on a Oracle database.
For one object GL Open Items I need to extract all required data from 2 tables BSIS and BKPF. (=select all open items of required G/L Accounts)
    Selection Criteria as follows:
step 1:Select BSIS records on MANDT, BUKRS and HKONT (from a list of GL Accounts).
    step 2:Select BKPF records where:
    - BSIS-MANDT=BKPF-MANDT
    - BSIS-BUKRS=BKPF-BUKRS
    - BSIS-GJAHR=BKPF-GJAHR
    - BSIS-BELNR=BKPF-BELNR
I have used SQL statements in order to get the data out of SAP but this will lead to an enormous long duration time, caused by the BKPF table. Therefore I need to improve my performance of BKPF.
Do you have a solution in how to fasten the BKPF data extraction? (other tooling/special code written, etc.)?  SQL tooling is not a must!
    Thanks

  • Short dump will happen because duration time unit is wrong.

    Hello,
I maintained breakdown duration time unit as "TST" which is created in CUNI. System can not convert it to "S", so system will dump when I tried to access this maintenance order. So I want to change this time unit "TST" to "S" or "h". I tried to make this change in SE16 table VIQMEL, but failed. Could anybody tell me how to make this change?
    Thank you.

    Dear Stephen,
have you changed all unit measurement? VIQMEL is table for notification header and you said that you cannot access maintenance order. so, i think you should check table AUFK, AFKO and also AFIH. for unit measurement in order

  • Need to know duration times of the highs in a boolean pulse

I have a gas meter connected to a FP-DI-330... I read boolean values from my application. The boolean values randomly switch from true to false and vice versa... I would like to know how to obtain the duration times of each high and low.

    Lee,
This is going to be very difficult to do with the DI-330 since it isn't really meant for an application like that. You could try to use software polling to determine the time between changes, but your results will be very dependent on the time between changes and not very accurate compared to the next solution.
The other solution is to use a counter module such as the CTR-500 or CTR-502. These modules are designed for applications like this. Check out the CTR-500 and CTR-502 operating instructions to find out more about the voltage requirements and such. Here are the links:

  • Changing Critical Duration time unit

    Hi,
The Warehouse monitor in LL01 executes well with job run daily.
Now the user's request is to change the critical duration time from Day to Hrs .
Will there be any impact on changing the duration time?
    Regards,
    Vengat

Nope. There are no issues in doing that.

  • Frustration at a 10!!!-Premiere Element 9 extending duration time for disc menu, motion menu buttons

So I have spent over two days trying to extended the duration time for the dvd main menu motion sequence as well as the chapters.  For some reason the main menu sequence is stuck at 29 seconds and chapter sections are stuck at 4 seconds.  I've tried manually putting in more time, but it always resorts back to the above mentioned times.  I noticed there are blue dots under the two run times does that mean the times can't be made longer?  What am I doing wrong here?
    Patrick

    Patrick,
PrE has a 00;00;30;00 Duration limit on the Menus. Some other, full-featured authoring apps., like Adobe Encore (bundled with PrPro), do not. Not sure about Sony's DVD Architect, which is a very popluar, and inexpensive authoring program. This ARTICLE goes into some detail on Menu Durations, but the limit is still 30 sec. in Pre.
Good luck and welcome to the forum,

  • Default duration time for importing still images

    Hello all,
Is there an easy way to change the default duration time for imported still images?
I have thousands of images that I want to import to make a time elapsed movie. I would like for these images to have a duration of less than a second. I could do this individually, but it would take forever.
Can the default duration time for imported images be changed?
    Thanks,
    Adam

    Hi
Too long time I made anything serious in iMovie HD6 (altough a a very competent editor)
    (Took the FinalCut leap)
As I remember (just tested) it - if photos are imported then it's a tedious labor
to set duration - one at a time. No global function I can induce.
BUT - I would put my photos into a separate folder in iPhoto so that they are easy
to get in iMovie from audio/photo browser.
Then I select (in iMovie) the first photo and double click on it to view it on canvas.
Now I also get a small gray window where I can set size and duration.
    I select 01:00 (1 sec) in duration and Apply/Use.
Then I selec the rest of the photos and drag them down to TimeLine after first
photo. And they also get same duration of 01:00.

  • Displaying Duration Time

    Hello, :)
Where is the option to display the video's duration time?
    Haven't found it yet...
I am using Captivate 2 and would like the user to see how
    long the video goes.
    Thanks much!
    Stefan

Hi Guys! Yes, I'm sure you can do it in Flash ...
    You can display a
    clock displaying
timeof day. There is all kinds of information about this at
    Edmund Mullen's site, located at:
    http://ed.mullen.home.comcast.net/fclock.html
If you want a SWF you can insert into a Captivate movie that
displays elapsed time, I have a diferent suggestion. First,
understand that elapsed time (ET) can be a tricky bugger, becuase
it is probably not "straight-ahead" elapsed time. If your Captivate
movies have any interactivity, you may or may not want those
"pauses" counted in elapsed time metering. You need something
special, and as Rick said, that animal don't live here ...
Contact Paul Dehurst (fellow community expert) and ask if
Paul will build you something like this. He may be too busy, or
just not interested in extra work right now, but if he does it for
you, he'll do a good job. Expect to pay him a negotiated fee - it
will be reasonable. Paul can be reached right here, or at his
    web-site at:
    http://www.raisingaimee.co.uk/
    Click the link to: "
    Contact Paul:"
Second idea, if Paul can't be convinced to help you out ...
call RentaCoder. You can reach them at:
    http://www.rentacoder.com/RentACoder/default.asp
Seriously, these folks might be the most underappreciated
people on the net. In just a few minutes at their site, you can
find a programmer in almost any software language - often close to
your physical location. No, I haven't personally used them, but a
company I contracted with recently had a need for a special Flash
tool, and contacted a Flash coder through "rentacoder" - and were
    very pleased. Good luck!
