Mp3 player battery status?

My mp3 player, a 2GB Sansa Express, automounts as a filesystem when I connect it to my computer, but I can't find any way to check the battery charge. Can anyone offer some advice on how to access it?

If I remember right, I tried something like this with libusb once (or doing stuff I suddenly kept finding after adding "libusb" to my array of search terms - had a hard time finding anything useful before)... and /proc/usb/something stuff... also awk and huge amounts of data rolling around in my tty... looking for a value somewhere that steadily went into the same direction and in the opposite after reloading the battery.  Had to give up though after a couple of days due to general lack of knowledge on my side and getting too confused with all the new info to continue. Don't really know how that stuff works - but maybe this small hint helps you figure out how to find someone who does.
Good luck!

  • MP3 Player (Zen Micro)won't recognize fully charged battery and won't recognize compu

    Hi All,
Just wondering if anyone has any ideas for me. I can not download the new firmware until I can get the computer to stay connected to the MP3 Player long enough. The only way I can use the MP3 Player is if it is plugged into the wall. Any ideas of why the MP3 Player will not recognize the fully charged battery?
    Thank you?
    Kukmeri?

Is it possible that your battery might be worn out or defecti've? If a fully charged battery only lasts a very short period, there would either be a problem with the player cutting off at the incorrect voltage or the battery itself is not capable of holding much of a charge.

  • Flash based AA battery mp3 player with AM and FM rad

There are so many mp3 players out there, but none that have the features I want. I also want variable speed playback, so I can play lectures back at speeds between half and double normal speed. I listen to many lectures at around .4 times normal speed on my pc. I want to also do that on a portable mp3 player. I also want a nice sized display. I don't want the smallest possible player. As long as it will fit in a typical shirt pocket I would be happy. That means a player up to around the size of an audio cassette but perhaps a bit thicker. i also want a player with many buttons. I hare using a joystic and multi teired menus. I want to switch from mp3 music to the radio (or back) with just one press of a button.

[size="">Hi, The LCD Display Screen on the Creative MP3 Player is blank. The blue background light will come on but nothing on the screen. I saw that it was suggested to update the firmware, however, I have no idea how to do that. If someone can explain to me how to do that I will try it. Or maybe you can suggest something else that I can do. I already tried several things suggested on your website, like removing the battery and installing it again, etc. I would appreciate it if someone would help me. Thanks!

Thank you for your advise though, I appreciate it!? Have a

  • Creative Zen vision M 30 GB MP3 player does not resp

My Creative Zen vision M 30 GB MP3 player stopped working. It does not turn on, does not charge, does not respond to anything. Is the battery dead or what would be the problem. Please help.

There are a multitude of problems that could be causing your player to exhibit this behavior in addition to battery failure, including the failure of the main logic board. If the player has been dropped a few times, exposed to excessi've heat, or high humidity/water, the problem might not be the battery. On the other hand, if the battery has been allowed to fully exhaust on a regular basis and left uncharged for long periods, it is possible that the battery could be dead, but LIon batteries usually last at least 2-3 years with regular use and normal recharging practices if they haven't been abused.

Did you try a disk cleanup from rescue mode?

No, removing the battery won't remove the songs. Be careful if you don't use your player for some time though. If you leave the battery like this in a discharged state it can be ruined.

  • Mp3 player compatible with mac

I was looking for a non ipod that is compatible with the
    mac 10.4 os.
i want the fm radio option and disposible battery option .
i want to be able to use itunes to transfer songs.
    any recommended models
    thanks

As iTunes is basically an iPod only affair here are some thoughts.
FM Radio is an option on the iPod by using the Apple Radio Remote.
Replacement iPod batteries are widely available (I just Googled for 'iPod Batteries').
    But if you're sure...
This application allows you to sync iTunes playlists with an mp3 player that mounts as a volume on the desktop (I'm using it with my PDA Phone (with a 512Mb MMC card) - but it's a poor, poor relation to my wife's Nano with proper iTunes integration). So this application will work with any mobile Phone/PDA or mp3 player with removable media and a card reader.

  • Thoughts on new mp3 player "Zen&qu

I love the whole design/interface and I'm sure will continue to provide great video playback, music quality with customizable EQs, and good battery life. MY only issue is the space. I will definitely miss out on the 30gig hd space of the creative zen vision m's (I wanted to buy it, but it's not being sold anywhere). I think it was a mistake to discontinue it because people are still willing to buy. I don't mind the bulkiness of it compared to the ipod video because it excels at everything else.
I guess flash dri'ves are easier to work with for creative (Cnet says that Creative isn't making anymore hard dri've players).
So far the only creative mp3 player i've owned is the creative zen micro (5 gigs) so I was hoping for more space than 8 gigs (since i'll be watching some videos too).

No more hard-disk based players from Creative?
Well, with all the problems their hard disk players are facing, I don't blame them for making that decision. Guess I'm one of the lucky ones with a wonderful 30GB ZVM. 9 Months and still ticking beautifully, although I do admit that syncing is a pain in the ass sometimes as Window$ Media Player would randomly do stupid things like upload the same song twice into the player when I change album or artist name (I make stupid typos like that sometimes, or it would be because the FreeDB/CDDB/Windows Media Online entry has typos), and think that a file has already been uploaded previously even though it's already been deleted. Then again, that would be M$/WMP's fault.
Anyway, given how the price of flash memory has dropped, I think we would once more be seeing 30GB devices from Creative in the market in the near future. And they would not be as sensiti've to shocks, bumps and drops that plague any hard disk based players.
Psst, Creative, now that the product's abandon ware, care to tell us how to upgrade our 30GB ZVMs to 60GB? or enable USB host? Message Edited by RAMChYLD on 09-03-20072:9 AM

  • Getting my mp3 player to work with rmmod ehci-hcd

    Dear all,
    I have a sansa fuze mp3 player. It can be configured to be in either MTP or MSC mode;
I'm using the second, meaning that the computer should see it as a simple mass
storage device. I remember using that a couple of years ago with Debian and I'd simply
plug it in and it would work.
Now I have the following problem: when I plug it in, I cannot see it with fdisk -l:

My problems with this solution are:
    1. It's a little bit inconvenient to do this everytime
    2. The first time that I did that I had an external drive plugged in and it got a little bit
screwed up.. Had to run a disk check and fix some errors.. So I'm a little bit cautious
    about doing it again.
Could you please enlighten me as of:
    1. Why do I need to do the rmmod thing to get my sansa player recognized?
    2. Is there a way to overcome this procedure?
    Thanks a lot in advance..

To work in FF and IE, you need to have  an <object> tag and  an <embed> tag.  Note: the embed tag was never accepted by  the W3C web standards but it works in browsers that require it.
So your code should resemble this:
    <object classid="clsid:D27CDB6E-AE6D-11cf-96B8-444553540000" width="366" height="56">
    <param name="movie" value="Player-skin.swf">
    <param name="quality" value="high">
    <embed src="Player-skin.swf"  quality="high" type="application/x-shockwave-flash"   width="366" height="56">   </embed>

  • I forgot to charge my Creative Zen mp3 player fully before first using it

I forgot to charge my Creative Zen mp3 player fully before first using it, and started syncing music onto it while it was charging for the first time. How much damage do you think this would have caused, and is there anything I can do to correct my mistake? Thanks.

I didn't fully charge my player the first time I used it and it works fine. The battery life seems to be on par with everyone else's. Also if you just plugged it into the computer and started syncing music you don't have anything to worry about. Even though you were syncing music you were still charging and not depleting the battery. I think the recommendation means that you don't "use" the player meaning unplug it from your computer with only a half charge and then run the battery out. Anyways, your player will be just fine.

  • Lookin for a mp3 player... freakin out a

    hey y'all
i'm looking for micro dri've mp3 player and I'm checking out products such as ipod mini, creative zen micro and others as well. After checking out each player i see flaws such as mini have no battery replaceable, have to buy adapter and USB separately and its expensi've about 20 bucks more than creative zen micro. creative zen micro is cheaper than ipod, better sound than mini, battery replaceable.
based on these features, flaws and things i'm have been hearing about, i really dont know which mp3 i want to get. Its kinda freaking me out and i'm a careful guy cause i hate being ripoff and i dont want to go through a hassle to go back and complain about it.
Can y'all help me find the right mp3 player for me? if you have any questions about my expectations to reduce options of selecting mp3 player... send some questions
    thank guys
    Mulak

Micro also has fm radio, voice recording, and is better Also, the micro doesnot come with a power adaptor (it does have the USB though)
Don't be too afraid about the problems you see on these boards. Only a small percentage of mp3 players break. Creative is very good with replacing broken micros (especially any with a broken headphone jack), I don't know how good apple is though.
I would go with a micro, it is very good for the price, (the removable battery is helpful) and it comes with more accessories and extra features. If there are any problems with the micro, Creative will replace it (so don't worry about getting ripped off with a micro )
Also, what size mp3 player do you need? And do you want the extra features of the micro (like fm radio). If not, you might also want to look at the zen touch. Message Edited by penguinking3 on 05-29-2005 06:3 AM

  • Choosing an mp3 player

I'm new to designing my own website. I have a lot of sound to make available to visitors. On some pages, the player will only need to play a single file. On other pages, it will play many files. This is not music, per se, but a website showcasing animal calls, and researchers investigating communication.
I am looking for advice about a multi-file mp3 player. tt would be very nice for a visitor to the website to choose a sound to play, and then see a photo of the species represented, andf maybe two or three text sentences explaining  the endangered status and habitat of the animal.
I'm hoping someone here may be able to recommend an off-the-shelf player that will let me accomplish this merger of sound, image, and text, on my own, and hopefully without too much coding involved. I can do a little code, but I'm still mostly a WYSIWYG kind of guy, using Dreamweaver.

I've never come across an application exactly like what you need, it's rather specific. The foundation of what you need could be accomplished in either Flash or Javascript (with Flash for the sound). If that technology is over your head you could try www.rentacoder.com.
    Good luck!

  • Copy songs to MP3 player

When I bought a 2 GB mp3 player for $10, I thought I had a DEAL! When I copied approximately 1.8 GB of songs to this mp3, it stopped with only 94 songs being copied. It shows 1.3 GB available.
Does anyone know a way to copy all the songs to what appears to be sufficient room on the mp3 player?
When I copied songs to a flash drive and then to a WINDOZ computer, a message popped up informing me that hidden files were present. I chose the option not to copy those hidden files. It turned out they were 4 KB files, and I deleted them.
Next I deleted everything from the mp3 player and copied files onto the player from the WINDOZ computer. Now 178 songs are on the mp3 player, and they occupy 1.07 GB. This means it still has room for more songs. However, it refuses to copy even one more song.
Does anyone know why I am unable to copy more songs when adequate space remains? No more hidden files remain on the player.

That was my idea (to format it using OS X), but I am unsure as to whether I would then be able to listen to any of the songs if it is in another format. Disk Utility told me it was FAT16. My info about FAT16 is that it should be able to accommodate more than 178 files. These problems don't appear in OSX.
The player is an Eclipse-mp3 sold by a group whose business name is Mach Speed. They are located in Oklahoma. I have an idea they bought a batch from China and resold them. They are like the 1 GB and 2 GB aluminum Shuffles, but they are black and slightly larger. Headphones can be attached to listen to tunes while it is plugged into the computer. Tiger is not selling them now, probably because they received many complaints about the player. I bought more than one, and on one of them the volume cannot be changed.
Compounding the copy problem is the auto-shutdown of this player (to conserve its battery). Mac always interprets this as an improper disconnect. It does not shut down while files are being copied to it or while it is playing. When it disconnects, it interrupts what I was doing with it.

  • Mp3 player MSI - P200-1000 FM Black

    Hallo,
I would like to ask about using rechargeable AAA battery in P200.
What about support of using NIMH battery? Will be battery recharged via USB port while mp3 player be connected to the computer?
    Thank's for all answers
    Jarda

I just looked through the manual for it and I don't see any support for battery charging by any method. Since it is designed for use with alkaline batteries there would be no charging feature for this device anyway.
