please help ;=)
p.S.:Firmware 2...0

Is it possible that your battery might be worn out or defecti've? If a fully charged battery only lasts a very short period, there would either be a problem with the player cutting off at the incorrect voltage or the battery itself is not capable of holding much of a charge.

  • Zen Touch is fro

I bought my Zen Touch in Sept 05, & built up a modest 900 tracks. Two weeks ago I turned it on, it showed 'now playing' but it had frozen. I could not turn it off. Reset turned it off and back on to its frozen state. I could not access Recovery Mode. Creative suggested letting battery run down, connect to charger and at 3rd attempt I was able to access Recovery Mode. Clean Up did not work. The Organiser prog does not recognise the player when I connect it to the PC so I cannot back up my tracks. Using skip or any other button did nothing. Format All and /or Reload Firmware would lose all content.
What a dreadful state of affairs. I know there are 900 tracks in this little box but Creative has no way of accessing them. This must be the worst product I have ever bought. The Zen Touch should come with a health warning to back up everything but I don't suppose Creative want to say how such a disastrous fault might happen.

I sympathise. To be fair, you wouldn't expect there to be a dead end, no-further-help-available scenario, but the bad news is, that's what appears to be on the cards.
The symptoms you describe are pretty similar to what happened to me. Though, through a huge amount of random retrying, I did get it to restart (I have no idea why it suddenly chose to, but after 6 days, it did, so keep trying!), and I was eventually able to back up my 2000 tracks before trying to solve the problem (it was still freezing).
But when I was finally able to access the recovery mode and do a disk clean up, and then try to reload the firmware (I tried to load all the available firmwares, including the PlayForSure Firmware, which DOES wipe the disk clean), the player wouldn't respond. In fact I'm now in a worse situation, cause I now have a non-responsi've and EMPTY mp3 player (see my thread, probably above).
So, no good news on that front as nobody appears to know the right solution (but thanks to all those who have made suggestions) and I am stuck with a ?70, 4 month-old empty dead turkey. A distinct absence of useful advice from anyone at Creative too, you'll notice.
So, it's not just you, and I'm afraid there are a number of us in a similar state of disappointment.
By another Creative product? Dunno. Who's to say this is not a problem that could happen to any MP3 player? All I know is that I would definitely think twice about it next time, especially when considering the aftersales support.

  • Time Warner Cable Installers Stole My Mp3 Player (Zen Photo Mic

First off before you read my little story, I just want to say that this Mp3 kicked ass and i will most likely be getting another one (or a new version if their is one) but buying another will be far off since this has left a nasty taste in my mouth. Anyways to my story
I got owned pretty harsh today after realizing my mp3 player was stolen. It has been sitting on my desk for the past 2 weeks since it has been way to busy at work to bring it in and use it. I go to plug in my mp3 player to load in some new songs and it isnt their.
I looked all over my house/car/work/clothes and it just isnt anywhere to be found. The only time someone could have taken it would have been a few days ago when the cable was installed. I was at work and had my grandpa let them in and sign for the service, since its almost impossible for me to explain what a mp3 player is to my grandpa i dont expect him to remember seeing it that day on my desk, but i know for sure it was their. Hell even my head phones where sitting in the same spot where the mp3 player was.
I called up Time Warner and they just told me well looks like you need to file a police report since their is no proof they stole it.
And since that will bring about nothing, i am just gonna go down to their office tomorrow and gonna ask them nicely if they accidentally grab-ed it by "mistake" since they had all their tools on my desk.
Right now i have nothing to loose so i might as well ask nicely, If they dont have it i will definitely be canceling my service from them and getting my funds returned for installation via credit card company.
Basically that's the story and any help or ideas would be great.
BTW: I went to take a picture of my house and room to kinda help them remember it if they did take it and my Digital camera stopped working and i talked to HP and said it was just over the warranty and they cant repair discontinued camera models.

    Hi,
I'm from germany so no 'best buy' but I think I will lock around sleeve/bag for a different product with same measures. Any tip?
The clear plastic case is not what I want. I would like to use the player without such protections. I just want a sleeve to protect the player while its in my jacket/pants.
Btw, i have bought this version: Creative Zen (maybe european version?). I also doesn't seem to have your mentioned sleeve. I also couldn't find it on the website.
    Anyway, thank you,
    Chris

  • Thoughts on new mp3 player "Zen&qu

I love the whole design/interface and I'm sure will continue to provide great video playback, music quality with customizable EQs, and good battery life. MY only issue is the space. I will definitely miss out on the 30gig hd space of the creative zen vision m's (I wanted to buy it, but it's not being sold anywhere). I think it was a mistake to discontinue it because people are still willing to buy. I don't mind the bulkiness of it compared to the ipod video because it excels at everything else.
I guess flash dri'ves are easier to work with for creative (Cnet says that Creative isn't making anymore hard dri've players).
So far the only creative mp3 player i've owned is the creative zen micro (5 gigs) so I was hoping for more space than 8 gigs (since i'll be watching some videos too).

No more hard-disk based players from Creative?
Well, with all the problems their hard disk players are facing, I don't blame them for making that decision. Guess I'm one of the lucky ones with a wonderful 30GB ZVM. 9 Months and still ticking beautifully, although I do admit that syncing is a pain in the ass sometimes as Window$ Media Player would randomly do stupid things like upload the same song twice into the player when I change album or artist name (I make stupid typos like that sometimes, or it would be because the FreeDB/CDDB/Windows Media Online entry has typos), and think that a file has already been uploaded previously even though it's already been deleted. Then again, that would be M$/WMP's fault.
Anyway, given how the price of flash memory has dropped, I think we would once more be seeing 30GB devices from Creative in the market in the near future. And they would not be as sensiti've to shocks, bumps and drops that plague any hard disk based players.
Psst, Creative, now that the product's abandon ware, care to tell us how to upgrade our 30GB ZVMs to 60GB? or enable USB host? Message Edited by RAMChYLD on 09-03-20072:9 AM

  • Zen touch has fro

    Hey all,
    I hope someone can help.
My zen touch (20gb) player froze whilst turning off, i let it sit but eventually had to reset it to get it to go off, since then i havent been able to turn it back on and it wont charge, the blue charge indicating light doesnt appear and when i plug it in all i get is the creative logo and the copyright info, i've tried the reboot advice on creatives web page, but that desnt work either!!!
    Any suggestions?
    Thanks
    Iain

My zen touch freezes from time to time, done all the usual things without any improvement. But today discovered that it freezes when used near some electrical equipment for example my wife old treadmill which uses an ac motor, its ok with the new treadmill with a dc motor. So it appears that the zen touch suffers from electrical interference, generally this is in the rf range (radio frequency). I hope this helps many users as it was driving me crazy and it appears it's a huge problem with many people.

  • MP3 Player (Zen Micro)won't recognize fully charged battery and won't recognize compu

    Hi All,
Just wondering if anyone has any ideas for me. I can not download the new firmware until I can get the computer to stay connected to the MP3 Player long enough. The only way I can use the MP3 Player is if it is plugged into the wall. Any ideas of why the MP3 Player will not recognize the fully charged battery?
    Thank you?

  • Zen touch - just a simple question (two simple ques

    Hi,
I would like to ask whether it is possible to connect the zen touch to any computer without needing to install the software and so to use it as a store device?(ofcourse after upgrade whenavailable)
The zen micro has the possibility to work as a usb device for example.
and the second one: are the headphones of the touch the same as these of the micro. When not, do you find them good? or not so good?
now I have a third question: since when does Creative sell the zen touch?Message Edited by plam_mk on 03-4-2005 :59 AM

plam_mk wrote:thank you. Yes, I think there won't be an update to put the removable disc option. However the zen touch is offered so as it is, with or withous some funktions and one should decide for himslef whether this is good or unsufficient for him. With the MTP firmware, do I need both win xp and wmp0 or Win XP alone would be fine? what is the differnece between MTP firmware which enables a dri'veless support and the USB mass storage?
You would need both WinXP and WMP0 for the MTP support.
And that is the main difference. With USB mass storage, any OS will work (Linux, Mac, etc.) for data at least. Sometimes you still need more software to put music on it, e.g., iPod.

  • Problem with my brand new mp3 player Zen Stone Plus 2GB ( with built in speaker )

    Hi .
I have purchased the following Zen Stone Plus 2GB with built in speaker on 24.06.2008.
From day one, it had a charging problem . Initial charging it'snever go beyond 87%.
After using it for 2 days, at the time of recharging , I found my player won`t get dectected in my PC .
I took the set to the vendor for a checkup . He tried to solve it by resetting , formating etc. But he could only able to to format it's sacrificing its 50% of its allocated space.
My vendor then changed the set with a brand new one, againts that faulty one .
Now the new one worked well for 3 - 4 days , but it is now totally dead .
But the set did not give any indication before it become completely dead.
A few dust particles inside the LCD screen was also observed. I can`t understand how come dust particles can enter inside
a player which is sealed box pack .
Next issue is with the battery which CREATIVE promised of giving a backup of approx 20 hrs of continious playback , which with minimal scuffling and with minimal settings lasted for 0 hrs approx ( 50% less than promised ).
Another thing that i must state is the problem of FM Reception . It is simply terrible . In the same area where my mobile's FM reception is fine , Zen Stone's FM failed to give any reception .
I came to know about Zen Stone Plus from of my friend , who is using Zen Stone Plus GB without any problem for long time.
Pls tell me what to do now, since my player is compleately out of order now , and pls suggest me something regarding the issue of battery backup , FM reception ... etc.
Now i am in a total mess . I just dont know what to do with the set that is few days old .
    Pls help urgently .
Waiting for any valued suggestion .
    Bye ...

This same thing is happening to everyone I know who has a Zen Micro. Even me. I asked Creative about it and they said just return in to it's vendor or send it in for repair/return.

  • My Zen Xtra 40GB mp3 player was dead with no reason

I bought this mp3 player(Zen Xtra 40GB?last year, it worked brilliant for 3 months, after that, I went back to my country for 3 months, when I came back in Oct, I could only switch it on, and after welcome screen, it pop up an reset back stage list for just half sec, then turn to welcome screen again... I took it inside my house(I was using it as my in-car media center) decide to check it out. after few days, it just went dead. no matter press any bottom, or even charging, there is no signs at all... is there any of you have the same problem before? is there any solutions that I could self-repair it's?I am afraid it has ran out its warranty. Are there any third party resellers that are able?to repair it's or it has to be return to Creative support/repairing depot?also how much is it'sgonna charge me for repairing by Creative??Please help me... I love this Creative mp3 player, don't want it just dead like this!!

I dont know maybe your hard dri've died, Try if its possible to update the firmware or reformating to see if it fixes. If anything call Creative if you really like your player you can buy another one or get it fized. Sorry sucks to lose a good MP3 player. I also heard that you should have your device on HOLD to prevent damage I really dont understand why but maybe it will halpe you in the future

  • Slider on 20GB Zen Touch stopped working

(Slider on 20GB Zen Touch stopped workinge I love my Zen so much, and the slider (touch pad) on my Zen Touch just stopped working. Last month, there was a couple of times where it stopped working, and it was fixed by turning it off and back on. That didn't fix it this time. I've been trying to get it to work for several hours now, and it just won't do anything.
What can cause this, and is there anything I can do to fix this? I thought maybe a firmware upgrade would reset something, allowing it to work since I had an old version of the firmware anyway. The firmware upgrade was successful, but the slider still doesn't work.
The slider is the one button on the Zen Touch that you absolutely need. I literally can't do anything since there is no other button you can use to go up or down in a menu. I can't browse my music, I can't play music, I can't change settings - all I can do is turn it on and stare at it. Now it is as useful as a weak flashlight - thanks to the backlight.
I love my Zen Touch so bad It is the best MP3 player I've ever owned, and it would really kill me if I can't get it to work.

reset the ipod, hold both the power and lock buttons for 10 seconds after the 10 seconds stop holding the buttons. IF this didn't work restore your ipo. 10 POINTS please.

  • Zen Touch Users Tilting At Windmi

Well, still no firmware for the "flagship" Creative player Zen Touch. Yesterday, a THIRD new player since end of 2Q has been announced for Creative; Zen Micro Photo. This reported yesterday online by "Engadget." So, since I always seem to see the glass being half-empty where Creative's treatment of Zen Touch owners are concerned, it would appear that another MP3 unit is being rushed to market. I guess the only question that one could ponder at this point is whether the regular Micro owners will get the short straw and Creative will now defer to the new photo unit. There certainly seem to be a cornucopia of Creative player choices in the marketplace and none of them seem to say "Touch."

I think Creative is really screwing what success they could have with their lines. All these models are just confusing to the consumer. Heck, I'm into this kind of stuff, and it's just about confusing me. They give really terrible support on existing, nearly brand new products... and release a handful of alternati've players. It's really sending out a bad/mixed message to the owners of products like the Touch.
The Touch, I think, is honestly about the only HD Player that could compete with the iPod. Well, iRi'ver is doing a nice job as well. I enjoy my Touch 20GB... but with the terrible software it came with (I shouldn't have to invest as much time as I have into getting a $200+ product to work like it should), and the poor firmware support... I honestly can't even recommend the player to any of my friends who are not knowledgable with computers.
If the thing was easier to use (software-wise), and actually had firmware support, there's no reason it couldn't do as good as the iPod. If Creative doesn't put ANY effort into these things in the near future... the next time I look for a player I will not think as highly as I have of Creative. The potential is so there... and I think the Zen is a pretty great product... but HUGE flaws like awful software and support... that's just too big of a part of this type of product to be overlooked.

  • Creative Zen Touch Vista Iss

    Hi,
I've had my Zen Touch now for about year. I had a fairly bog standard pc with Windows XP as the OS. At the end of January this year I got a brand new pc with Windows Vista. Ever since then I cannot use the Creative media program that came with my MP3 player and now just recently I can't get it to recognize that my player is plugged into my PC. It makes a funny little noise like its saying 'NO' when I plug the mp3 into my USB.
Is there a big problem with Creative Zen's and Vista? I also cant find anything online regarding this and send a couple of emails to Creative's technical support without reply.
If anyone needs more information then I'll gladly reply.
    Cheers

Hi,?unfortunately there is an obvious problem with the sync manager from creative and vista. You can synchronize using winamp. Creative media organizer does not recognize the mp3 player, but winamp works as good as the software from creative. you can use the xp driver for the player (I mean there is no other choice)?best?

  • IPod, Zen Touch or Zen Mic

I want to buy an mp3 player but I have no idea what to buy. I've read A LOT of reviews and I've basically boiled it down to the iPod mini, the Zen Touch or the Zen Micro. Unfortunately, there are no real reviews for the Zen Micro because people don't have it yet. However, one big advantage is the removable battery. Now, I need someone to convince me why:
    a. Choose Creative Zen over iPod
    b. Why should a buy the Zen Micro (5GB) when I can spend the same amount of money and get a Zen Touch 20GB? That's a lot of extra space to consider.
If you know any other good mp3 players, please write them down. I'm just looking for strong durability, good sound quality and a sensible interface. The battery issue is also a big concern.

A: Why Creative over Apple? Simple. PRICE. In my opinion, iPods are just ridiculously overpriced. Creative's products are at least priced sensibly.
B: I guess the major issue here is size. While the micro can easily be lost in your pocket, the Touch has more mass.
I, however, would buy the Micro instead of the Touch because the Touch's battery CANNOT be removed, whereas the Micro's can. So if for some reason you come across a glitch with the mp3 player, you can just pop the battery out and pop it back in, resetting the MP3 player. Also, if you need a replacement battery (since all batteries go bad after extended use), you can just buy a new battery instead a whole new MP3 player.
You can check out unbiased reviews/previews, here for the micro and here for the touch.
