MP3 Zen stone and zen mosaic: compatibility with Sony Microsystems

I was given a Zen Stone (basic model) almost two years ago as a present. In Christmas of 2008, I purchased a Zen Mosaic 8gb model which plays music, videos and photos. THis Christmas i received as a gift a Sony CMT HX80R micro system. This unit has the capacity to play i pod and MP3 via a USB port. Upon trying the Mosaic I received the message on the screen of the Sony saying "not supported". But when I played the Zen Stone, it loaded up perfectly and played with no problems. I am not super tech minded but surely if there was a model the Sony wouldn't recognise; surely it should have been the Stone as it's the older technology? Can anyone offer an exp[lanatiuon please? or is there some kind of patch I can put into the Mopsaic to make the Sony read it's

Windows 8 and itunes 11 compatibility with an ipod

I have itunes11 and Windows 8. I've called Apple and I've talked to Microsoft. This was months ago. I can download itunes and run it from my laptop but am unable to sync my ipod. I get an error and it automatically reboots my computer. I was told there were known compatibility with itunes and Windows 8. This was months ago.
I know how to downgrade itunes to XP or Win 7. This is not the issue. I can download to my laptop and place, it will not sync to my ipod device (which is a fear years old), but when I did talk to support I was told that it was supported. The ipod was not the issue.. It was the incompatibility between the programs.
I see recent updates in the support community in the past month about production resolution but this still has not resolved my issue. I don't believe purchasing a new ipod is going to resolve the issue either.
If anyone has successfully developed a workaround or recently downloaded itunes11 w/ Windows 8 and can sync to an apple ipod I would love to know how you did it.

Im not sure that will solve the issue I have with itunes. I have a lenovo laptop and I think it's just an issue with Apple who has to modify the program for users of Windows 8 so that itunes can be used and to find purchased music. I found the music I purchased through itunes but it's not the full tracks. It said it allows me to download it fully so I can hear the whole track, but needs some kind of capatibility? I have no idea what the problem is. If someone has the answer knowing my computer brand and having windows 8 compatibility issues, please let me know what you suggest.

Office 2013 Home and Business License Compatability with Windows Server 2012 R2

Are there any license issues with installing Office 2013 Home and Business on Server 2012 R2 operating system?
I am having inconsistent issues installing this software on a server running this operating system. The Office software is not being acccesed by client workstations. Its a stand alone software installation for the server. Are there any
special installation procedures I must follow or software registration procedures I must follow?
Microsoft website states Office 2013 Home and Business is compatible with Server 2012 but doesnt include the an R2 version reference.

Please note only Volume Licensing editions of Office may be used on RDS host server. Since Home and Business is a Retail edition, it's not suitable/permitted if you are using RDS.

233 MHz G3 Compatibility with Sony SDM-X52 15" LCD Monitor

Trying to interface the subject items, the monitor recognizes the Mac's video output on its input #2, but shows the error "Scan Out of Range," and "Frequency 43.3 Khz/85 Hz." According to the Sony manual this means the horizontal scan frequency is 43.3 KHz, which is within the monitor's range, but the vertical frequency needs to be 56 - 75 Hz. The graphics card in the G3 is the original OEM ATI Rage II+, which Apple states "supports refresh rates up to 85 Hz." However, I haven't the slightest idea how to reduce that rate to between 56-75 Hz.
There is an adapter on the G3's monitor output which allegedly converts to a VGA/SVGA signal, and it does mate with a cable that is compatible with the Sony monitor. This adapter contains slide switches and a rotary dial, and a label on the bottom which identifies the characteristics for its various settings. The G3 was previously interfaced with a CRT monitor, and worked fine. The current settings on the adapter are for 640x480/800x600 resolution with vertical and horizontal sync signals active (these can be turned off but have not tried that).
The adapter has no manufacturer name or logo, only an icon of the Liberty Bell molded into its case.
Would anything I do to this adapter's settings change the vertical scan frequency?
(BTW, the monitor works perfectly on its DVI-D input #1 with my G5.)

The reason I asked if you had another monitor, is that the initial settings (the ones used at the beginning of startup) for the monitor are stored in the Mac's PRAM. After the OS has loaded sufficiently for additional or other settings (if they are different than those in PRAM - not common, but possible, especially when switching from one OS to another) in the appropriate prefs file(s) to be read, those take over.
If you had a different monitor to use, you could use it to get the machine running, then use the Monitors control panel to reset the resolution and frequency to a combo acceptable to the monitor. Then shut down, swap monitors, and give it a try. When the machine is shut down, the applicable settings in the prefs files are transferred to and stored in PRAM, making them the initial governing settings at the next boot.
You might try a reset of PRAM (zapping the PRAM, in old lingo). Doing this should reset the settings in PRAM to the default ones, probably 480x600 @ 60Hz for your model. Later model G3s and G4s default to 600x800 @ 60Hz.

If that works initially, then immediately press the Shift key and keep it held down until the desktop has loaded. This will prevent the Monitors control panel (along with other control panels and non-critical extensions) from becoming active - and with a bit of luck will prevent the prefs file from being read.
If that works, then go into the Preferences folder in System Folder and trash the Display Preferences and Monitors Preferences files. Empty the Trash. Then try a normal restart.

The new Ipad and camera connection kit with Sony A65 RAW

I recently purchased the "new ipad" with camera connection kit. I'm shooting photos in RAW format with Sony A65 and I have succesfully transferred them into my Ipad. The problem is that none of the applications such as Snapseed, Photoforge2, etc. will display the full 24 megapixel image from the RAW file and will instead show small preview.
It is indicated in support pages of these applications that there should be support for IOS Raw engine supported RAW files with full size. Can someone indicate me what RAW formats are supported by IOS 5.1 and whether support for Sony RAW files will be added.
The same problem persists with 16 megapixel images from Sony A55.

Thank you, David, but actually your answer is not helpful. As I explained in my opening message, I am interested in buying and using an i-Pad while on a trip in Spain, where I will not have access to a computer, other than, perhaps, one at the Apple Store where I might buy the i-Pad.

New Mp3 Zen V Plus with Vi

My zen V PLUS has no firmware because it was curropted and wouldnt load... and it wont connect to my comptuter what do i do?

I have the same problem that Vista won't recognize my Zen Plus. I have tried every thing I could think of and nothing works. The recovery tool didn't work.
Vista won't even put up that disconnect icon in lower right. and Creative Media Organizer won't see the Zen Plus either.
I think Microsoft and Creative should get their products to working together...........but they are making money and we are wasting our time trying to get things we have paid for to work.
Does anyone at Creative know how this Zen Plus will ever work with Vista?
Should I listen to the Creative e-mail support and return my Zen Plus?

Creative suite 4 and 5.5 compatable with Windows 8 and Office 2013?

We have both Creative Suite 4 and a few CS5.5. One classroom will be moving to Windows 8 and Office 2013 this Summer term. Will either of these suites work or will we need to upgrade to CS6?

The only honest answer: You won't know until you try. Generally they will/ should be compatible, but you may require dealing with legacy issues like printer compatibility or thne installer not finding specific folders as well as al lthe usual - security stuff, user privileges, network stuff in shared environements. you would face some of those issues even with CS6 or CC, so it's irrelevant to get a new version until there are real hard reasons beyond these issues. They can all be resolved, it may just take some fiddling and lots of patience.

Time Machine and Disk Permissions + Compatibility with Snow Leopard

I have received warning from Disk Utility that I should repair permissions as several files show incorrect permissions and, more than that, my 750GB shows "769GB available".
My questions are:
1. If I use Command+R and rebuild the disk from a Time Machine backup, will permissions be reset or will the files just be copied as they are now?
2. Is there a way to verify the TM backups to check the files therein?
3. Suppose, just for the sake of an exercise, that I reload Snow Leopard; can I still use SL's Time Machine to read a Lion Time Machine backup?

Why are you repairing permissions? It's a waste of time unless you have a specific reason to do it, and the warnings don't mean anything.
To verify your Time Machine backup, proceed as below.
Launch the Terminal application in any of the following ways:
☞ Enter the first few letters of its name into a Spotlight search. Select it in the results (it should be at the top.)
☞ In the Finder, select Go ▹ Utilities from the menu bar, or press the key combination shift-command-U. The application is in the folder that opens.
☞ Open LaunchPad. Click Utilities, then Terminal in the page that opens.
Drag or copy — do not type — the following line into the Terminal window, then press return:
sudo tmutil compare
You'll be prompted for your login password, which won't be displayed when you type it. You may get a one-time warning not to screw up.
The command will take at least a few minutes to run. Eventually some lines of output will appear below what you entered.
Each line that begins with a plus sign (“+”) represents a file that has been added to the source volume since the last snapshot was taken. These files have not been backed up yet.
Each line that begins with an exclamation point (“!”) represents a file that has changed on the source volume. These files have been backed up, but not in their present state.
Each line that begins with a minus sign (“-“) represents a file that has been removed from the source volume.
Files that you’ve excluded from backup, or that are excluded automatically, are ignored.

ES4 Assembler and portfolios' folders compatibility with Acrobat 9

I have the following problem: I'm producing a PDF Portfolio with some nested file and folders through Assembler WebAPI.
The portfolio is ok and works fine if opened with Acrobat XI, but the same portfolio is bugged if opened with Acrobat 9: all the package files are shown in the root directory and clicking (or right-clicking) on them causes a navigation to the (empty) directory specified in the DDX. There is also no way to open the package files.
(PDF Portfolios created with Acrobat 9 works fine in both versions, so isn't a problem related to my installation of Acrobat 9)
How can i make it works also in Acrobat 9? I'm defining a wrong DDX or it is a known bug?
The file should be distributed to clients who use Acrobat 9 and cannot install newer version due to company policies.

I got the error msg translated:
Cannot read input data, some characters cannot be showed/printed.
I ran preflight and embedded the fonts and I'm hoping that fixes the problem. I haev no way of testing this. Does anyone know if I did the right thing or is there something else I should do?

PSE 8 and high res compatibility with W7

I have just upgraded from PSE 5 to 8. I am running on a laptop with W7 and 1920 x 1200 res screen. In order to make menus and text legible, the system is set at 150% in Control Panel. This seems to work fine with Office applications and other programmes. Unfortunately, although the Organiser page is ok too, the Editor and Quick Editor page menus are scaled right down. The menus and icons are so small it is difficult to navigate and wierdly the curser appears as three identical images in certain features. I have tried reducing the 150 to 125% but then the Organiser is affected and there is little improvement in Editor except that the curser shows normally. I had experienced the same problem in PSE5 but thought it was a W7 thing and that the upgrade would sort it out. Feeling poorer and no further forward. Any help would be much appretiated.

I had the same problem.
I changed the size to custom and went up to 145% and the cursors are still ok.
Someone on the forum said it is a bug and the cursors won't work correctly at 150%

Printers and scanner not compatable with Mini w/Lion?

I've just had my Mini running Lion for a few days and am impressed with it (my first Mac). However I have been trying in vain to load printer drivers for my Epson R800 printer and my Epson V500 scanner. I have visited both this site and Epson's but have not had any success getting any to work. Basically I'm informed that they are not supported. Any help for a new Mac person will be greatly appreciated.

Bowers and Wilkins P7 Compatibility with Mac Notebooks

I have a late 2008 13" Al unibody MacBook, and a mid 2011 11" Air MacBook. Are they fully compatible with Apple Store NZ listed Bowers and Wilkins P7 headphones? As these can be driven by some iPhones and all iPads, it would seem my MacBooks will have enough audio 'grunt' to adequately drive these headphones... Is this so?

Having the same issue. Any luck resolving this? I've put a troubleshooting ticket into B&W. My MM-1's headphone jack works fine and my comp's internal speakers work. Odd. Here's what I wrote them:
My MM-1 speakers have stopped producing sound. The headphone jack for the MM-1 works fine. And my comp's internal speakers work. My Sys Pref says "The selected device has no output controls." What I've done to troubleshoot the problem.
1. Unplugged and replugged all connections (power, USB @ comp and speaker, and other speaker).
2. Powered down speakers and computer. Restarted.
3. Confirmed that audio is SysPref/Sound/Output/MM-1
4. Updated firmware (V6.0.00)

VirtualBox 4.2 and 4.3 Compatibly with OS X Mavericks

Can anyone reproduce this or having the same issue and found a solution yet.
I updated to 4.3 (Same issue with 4.2)and still wasn't able to shutdown my VM or Mac afterwards
Steps to Recreate My Issue
1) Update to 4.3
2) Have at least 2 VM's (i.e. XP, and Windows 7)
3) Open both VM's
4) Try to shutdown the 1st VM you opened by clicking the red x
expected results - VM Shutsdown and icon removes from Dock
actual results - VM Shutsdown but the icon is still in the Docking station, Force Quit and Activity Monitor cant remove it the user is also unable to shutdown his Mac without doing a manual shutdown by holding the power button. After manually shutting down n bringing it back the user is back at square 1 with the host-only adapter not available.

This issue ( https://www.virtualbox.org/ticket/12241 ) has been reopened and is not confined to Host Only Networks. I'm having this problem when using Bridged Adapters.
Some report that they are able to do an orderly shutdown by issuing:
sudo shutdown -h now
from Terminal.
