Mp3s converting to mov when iweb site published

I am so frustrated! I used to be able to drag in a tune from itunes, publish it on iweb and I'd be able to play it no probs on a Windows PC at my place of work. Now, every time I publish, the mp3s are somehow being changed to mov files and I can't play them on my mac or PC. What am I doing wrong???

Welcome to the Apple Discussions. MP3 files have been presented as QT movie files for a long time in iWeb. What's the URL of your site so we can examine it first hand?
You can use flash players to play the audio tracks which will be PC compatible. This demo page has several types: Audio Players.
Some "showy" fun mouse rollover players are on this demo page: More Audio

  • Photos not showing up when iweb site published

Once the website has been updated to iweb 08 the photos on pages do not show up.
Has anyone found a solution to this?

I am having the same problem and I built my site from iWeb 2.02 from the start. The curious thing is that the pictures show up on my G4 but not on my old G3 which runs OS X 10.3.9. Most of my friends are getting the pictures too. Could it be a computer problem instead of an iWeb publishing problem!?!

  • When iWeb finishes publishing, drop down shows wrong address

It's kinda weird. When iWeb finishes publishing my website, a drop down window asks, do you want to visit, announce, or finish. If you click visit, it goes to www.gogoglidepath.com/gogoglidepath. It should say www.gogoglidepath.com. Anybody know how to fix it? I know it's just a little bug, but it bugs me.

Well, no actually it is not incorrect, because that is how iWeb will publish. It will publish using a site folder with the same name as you called your site within iWeb. Did you name your site gogoglidepath in iWeb? If so, if you don't like it then you need to go back and change this in iWeb to something short like Site or S or whatever. That is how iWeb does things so your url is http://www.domain.com/sitename/pagename.
Are you publishing to MobileMe and forwarding your domain name or publishing direct to your host? If using MME there is not a lot you can do about this apart from changing to web forwarding from CNAME forwarding so that your url will be http://www.domain.com. You can then only bookmark the whole site rather than pages.
If uploading directly, you can upload just the contents of your site folder rather than the whole folder itself.

  • How do I move my iweb site to another account?

I have built my wife a web site on my computer on my .mac account using iweb. But I want to move it over to my wife's .mac account on her computer. Essentially to have it live on her computer and not mine. How do I do this? HELP!
    Thanks a million.

All the information for iWeb is stored under User/Library/Application Support/iWeb and then it is the domain.sites file that you want.
If you want to manage your site on another computer, then you need to copy this file. Make sure that you don't delete this file. If you do, you have lost your website and will have to re-build as iWeb cannot import anything from your published site on iDisk.
Copy this file over and then as Mireille said, you can create another user account on your wife's machine if you need to under System Preferences Accounts.
If it is your wife's machine however, then you won't need another account. All you do is place the copy of the domain.sites file in the same place on her computer i.e. User/Library/Application Support/iWeb. Then all you need to do is log into her .Mac account on her computer. Just go to System Preferences and .Mac and enter her .Mac account details and it will be logged into her account. When you then publish, it will publish to her .Mac account on her computer.

  • Movies in iWeb site do not play on windows PC

I published a site to a folder and copied that site to a PC. The movies in that site/folder worked fine using the Mac but after I moved it to the PC all I get is the quicktime question mark when I select a movie. However, before the question mark appears I briefly get a flash of the video's first frame. The movies are in the media folder on the PC and I have installed the most recent version of Quicktime. One odd thing is that from the media folder if I double click the movie it starts iTunes. Any help is appreciated.

  • IWeb site publishing....

Can someone please help me! I am kinda new to iWeb but, have successfully published sites in the past. I made a couple of changes to one of my sites and tried to publish it but, it is trying to launch it to an existing domain name that I own but, is being hosted by yahoo. Why will it not just publish it as and iWeb site. It is very important that I correct this problem ASAP! I am out of work and a potential job rest on me getting my site launched. Can anyone please help me?

Where do you want to publish your site? To a MobileMe account or to your Yahoo hosting account? If it's the latter you need to give the new site a different name so that it will not overwrite your existing site.
If you're publishing the new site to MMe, click on the site icon in iWeb and change the location of the hosting server in the resulting window.

  • Move my iWeb site somewhere else

Since the end of mobileme, my website has stopped working. How can i make it work again?
Can you try and explain it in the simplest steps as possible please!
    Thanks

iWeb has two options for publishing your website..
    http://www.iwebformusicians.com/iWeb/Publish-Website.html
Here's some info about what to look for when choosing hosting...
    http://www.iwebformusicians.com/iWeb/Website-Hosting.html
If you had a domain name for you site on MobileMe you need to contact your registrar to get it to point to the new location of your files.
If you don't have a domain name, most hosting services will provide a free registration.
Once you have published your site to the new server, make sure you redo the SEO...

  • Move my iWeb site from my G5 to my MacBook

I just got a new MacBook and I want to move my website from my G5 desktop to my MacBook so I can make changes from anywhere. I cant figure out how to get on the MacBook so I can edit it in iweb from my laptop.
Thanks for any help you all can give.

Copy this file to an external drive and place your copy in the same path on your new MacBook. iWeb will then open it and you can continue working on your site.
You will need to launch & Quit iWeb once to create the whole of this path, the /iWeb folder doesn't exist until you do. This will also create your iWeb prefs file, some would suggest copying this accross too, your choice, but I dont!

  • Adding html to an iWeb site published on .Mac

I run my music blog entirely through iWeb and .mac, but unfortunately, in order to get my site onto a listing of music blogs, I need to post some .html on it. I tried opening the files on my iDisk but I don't think I was doing it correctly; if anyone could either explain how to do this, or point me towards a thread that does, I would appreciate it greatly. Thanks!

I use the iWebMore tool which basically post-processes the iWeb produced html to insert your own specific html. Read the manual page, at first it seems a little confusing but in reality it couldnt be simpler.
    Hope this helps!

  • Move my Iweb site in two Macs

    Hi,
I've two Macs, i would copy my Sites in both Macs.
    It's Possible ?
    And in which way ?
    Thanks Fabio

Are you looking in the correct Library folder? The one you want is:
If you still don't have an iWeb folder then you've never run iiWeb on that computer.
Another method you can use is to download  Find Any File and use it to search for "domain.site".  FAF can search areas that Spotlight can't, even invisible folders.
In Lion the Home/Library folder is now invisible. To make it permanently visible enter the following in the Terminal application window: chflags nohidden ~/Library and hit the Enter button - 10.7: Un-hide the User Library folder.
For opening your domain file in Lion for the first time or to switch between multiple domain files  Cyclosaurus has provided us with the following script that you can make into an Applescript application with Script Editor. Open Script Editor, copy and paste the script below into Script Editor's window and save as an application.
Just launch the applicaiton, find and select the domain file you want to open and it will open with iWeb. It modifies the iWeb preference file each time it's launched so one can switch between domain files.
do shell script "/usr/bin/defaults write com.apple.iWeb iWebDefaultsDocumentPath -boolean no"delay 1
    tell application "iWeb" to activate
You can download an already compiiled version with this link: iWeb Switch Domain.
WARNING: iWeb Switch Domain will overwrite an existing Domain.sites2 file if you select to create a new domain in the same folder.  So rename your domain files once they've been created to something other than the default name.

  • I'm trying to move my iWeb site to a new computer

Going from a Mini running Snow Leopard to a MacBook Pro running Lion. Both are running iWeb 3.0.4. I moved Domain.sites2 over, but the MacBook says it can't open the file. I have a site set up for FTP syncing that uses some passwords - don't know if that is an issue.
    1. Is there something about iWeb on Lion that could cause this?
    2. Is there a way to pull the site from the internet over FTP using iWeb? I've gotten some of the pages using wget but don't see how to put those together in iWeb.
    Thanks!

See this page about using iWeb with Lion and Mountain Lion...

  • IWeb wont publish updated pages to site using Mobileme

Tried to publish 2 updated pages to my current iWeb site published on Mobileme. Am directed through a Facebook username and password login. (Don't remember this step from prior publishing.) Then nothing happens. No site update. No option to publish site available within iWeb. And no way I see to save my changes made in iWeb before I exit the program to try to figure out. I have lost work twice. What is happening and how do I correct the trouble?

You must have checked the box next to "Update my Facebook profile when I publish this site."
Click the site name at the top of the left column in iWeb to get to the Publishing Settings page to change this.

  • General inquiry - Why ar .Mac and publishing/accessing iWeb sites so slow??

    Greetings,
I do realize that that general topic has been addressed somehow many times, in whole or in parts. I am just shooting for a general update on the subject(s).
I have grown fond of iWeb and just renewed my .Mac subscription. I am also a user of Dreamweaver and FrontPage. I just find the iWeb/.Mac combination so straight forward and... irresistible fun to play with!
BUT, before i commit more to that environment, I need to know - again:
    1. Why is .Mac/iDisk so slow in access?
    2. Correspondingly, publishing to .Mac and iDisk is slow. Why, actually?
    3. Difficulties in accessing iWeb sites published to .Mac/iDisk when using InternetExplorer (which, whether we want it or not, IS the predominant browser out there...). We know Firefox is better at it.
    4. Ultimately, would publishing iWeb sites to other servers (I have a couple of non-iWeb websites currently hosted elsewhere) make publishing AND accessing such sites speedier?
I will appreciate any advice, input, assessment.
    - Roger T

I think it's because it's more a social server with a lot of server side features available for .Mac users and iLife applications. Therefore there's a fair amount of server work when users use it for email, web sites with slideshows, backing up, etc. A commercial server will be much faster. There are othesr here that know more about servers than I and can give you a more technical explanation. But you're right, it is slow but convenient.

  • Adding files to iWeb site using .mac

    Hi
Apologies if this has been answered before but I would like to achieve the following:
I have an iWeb site published to a .mac account. I would like to add links to other files such as m3u or qtl playlists and host the mp3/mov files somewhere else in my .mac account. I have read a little about using the idisk feature to achieve this. What's the best way of proceeding?

which means you have to put any file or folder linked to in this way inside iDisk>Web>Sites??
    That's correct.
Presumably that means when you publish any updates out of iWeb it leaves these files/folders alone and only updates what it needs to?
You can create folders as you like.
Just make sure you do not add a Site in iWeb with the same name as your folder. iWeb will overwrite that folder. Try it.
And do not add an index.html file of your own in the root of the Server. I have a custom index.html file. So any time I publish a Site in iWeb (by mistake) I have to make sure I replace the index.html file by iWeb with the file of my own.
But I do a lot of things I'm not supposed to do.
