MP4 Crashing Premiere

Why does my trial version of Premiere Pro crash every time I attempt to import an mp4 file into the project? I have an up to date fast Toshiba PC, 16gb RAM, 1 TB Drive, Intel Core i7, that should have no hardware issues. This same exact thing happened to my friend on another PC. Will this be solved by purchasing the monthly plan?

Use the program  MediaInfo to look at the MP4 file, post us a screenshot of it properties.

  • MP4 Import Crashing Premiere Pro CS4

I am trying to make a short promo video for my university snowsports club. Just started using Premiere Pro so not sure if this is an obvious mistake im making. I've started a project and had imported 2 avi files that are from after effects, an mp3 and some sound effects. the first MP4 i imported was fine, its approx 400mb and was filmed on a Gopro headcam. i then tried to import a smaller MP4 into the same project. This crashed Premiere and has each time ive tried. i have tried importing other MP4's most are fine apart from a few much larger files. I have also split the origanal file down into 50mb chucks but this crashes to. i have also tried importing them into a new blank project with no sucsess. I thought the file might be corrupt but they play fine and After Effects will load and play them. I have a AMD X2 Dual 4200, with 2Gb of ram running Windows xp. i have also tried moving the file to different locations and renaming it.
    Thanks

  • Exporting to Media Encoder crashes Premiere Pro CC 2014

    Greetings,
I am experiencing a problem with premiere off and on. Right now it is an on problem. When I am exporting from Premiere Pro CC (and CC 2014) it will intermittently crash Premiere. I have tried this with several different audio and video formats (AVI [Lagarith and uncompressed], WAV, H.264, MPG2, AAC, etc). At the moment, every time I go to export to queue it locks up and hangs on the "Preparing data for export..." Media Encoder Launches and then it just freezes. I get "Problem Even Name: AppHangB1" over and over. Sometimes a full restart will fix this temporarily and sometimes it goes away for a long while. I managed to get a few sequences exported and then it just kept freezing on every PP CC restart.
    Here are my system specs:
Premiere Pro CC (up to date)
Win 7 64bit (up to date)
    i7 970
    24GB Ram
NVIDIA 470GTX (driver up to date)
    3 x 1.5TB internal
    4TB internal
    3TB internal
    12TB RAID 5 via USB 3.0
    USB 2.0 and 3.0 drives
FireWire audio device (M-AUDIO FireWire1814)... although, I am not using it for playback. It is connected.
Footage is from C100 H.264 .MTS, H.264.mov from 7D, and H.264 .MOV from iPhone.
All stock video plugins with a few third party audio plugs.
This problem happens with and without third party plugs, but it happens that this project uses them.
I have chatted with Adobe help twice about the matter and nothing has come of it. Log out, log in = same. Restart = same (sometimes), create new user account = same, and so on. The only thing I haven't done is completely re-install premiere, which seems a bit overkill. One of the reps said he would get back to me in a few days after he watched the issue via screen share. Never heard back.
I get the sense that this has something to do with PProHeadless.exe not launching or not running properly. When the crash happens on a fresh restart of PP CC 2014 PProHeadless is not running. I can start PProHeadless and it will send sequence to media encoder. When I try to export another sequence from the same project it crashes and I see another instance of PProHeadless launched.
Also, once the projects are exported to Media Encoder, I can encode them to any format with no problem. The problem is getting the sequences there!
Is there anything that I am overlooking here?
    Thanks for the help!

    Hi
    Premiere pro cc 2014  8.0.1 (21) build
    Encoder CC 2014 8.0.1.48
I use CC for Teams so it updates all the time.
Again when I tried to use it today by letting premiere open it by sending an output into Queue it crashed both Encoder and Premiere.
In order to shut down Encoder and Premiere I had to go into Task Manager and "End Process Tree" on everything adobe I could find because just ending Encoder did not work it would not close. I remembered that years ago when Premiere would crash we had to end a photoshop process. I found photoshop open even though it was not "alive" on my task bar. I had used it yesterday but had closed it. I also had to close dynamiclinkmanager.exe *32 as well as one of the three Adobe CDF Helper.exe*32. They popped back on but Encode closed and then I got a message that Premiere needed to close and did when I clicked the button to let it close.
After all this I re-opened Encoder by itself and checked the Preferences finding that Import Sequences Natively option was again checked.
By the way for me, "Launch AME manually, then drag the sequence from PPro's Project panel to AME's Queue (or to a preset in the Preset Browser). That uses a different code path than the File>Export>Media workflow." won't work most of the time because I do live events of panel interviews that may run 2 or more hours. I need to break them down to chapters for the web
Also I know this isn't part of this problem but I and many others would still love dynamiclink to work to Encore because the DVD is not dead yet. The current work path is a drag.
Looks like some programers and engineers have some work to do.
    Thanks
    Dennis

Both ways, you can customize the Export Settings under the Advanced Button/Video Tab and Audio Tab.
You do not have to settle for the default which the program offers.

  • Pre-render (preview) acts crazy and crashes Premiere - QT Bug?

    I have a MacBook Pro 17", 2GB RAM, 2.4 GhZ dual core
Looks like some sort of QT Bug:
I have set my sequence preview settings to render with QT Animation codec. When I preview the sequence, it gets stuck at a specific location on a timeline when it reaches a still image. Then I try to cancel the render, but instead it crashes Premiere. Funny thing, that putting the image at some other location on timeline renders perfect. I have tried everything - I've changed the image to another one - same thing. I've deleted all the preview files - nothing changed. Then I've tried to change the codec in the Sequence Preview Settings and I found out, that when it's on DV-PAL, or I-Frame Only, it renders just fine!!! So I suppose that it's some sort of a bug that is in QT native codec probably... (it only happens to a still image on a specific location on timeline)

As a test, try nesting the problem sequence in a new empty sequence then export that new sequence using QuickTime. Let us know whether or not that succeeds.
    Cheers

  • Audio Gain Crash - Premiere Pro CC 2014

Working in Premiere Pro CC 2014 I'm experiencing an instant crash when using the Audio Gain function on a clip or any selection of multiple clips in a sequence.  The clip(s) in question come from a TASCAM DR-100 audio recorder I've used dozens of times without issue.
    ASUS G75
    Windows 7, 64-bit
    Intel i7-3630qm
    16GB RAM
    NVIDIA GTX-670MX

I found it strange that this was happening only on two of my sequences (timelines) in the project, while other sequences have no issue with Audio Gain.  It's either the sequence, or one-or-more clips—not Premiere, right?  First, I ran CCleaner and re-launched Premiere.  Clearing system crud with CCleaner seems to have aleviated the problem for *some* of the clips.  I could now perform Audio Gain functions on some of the clips.
So my next thought:  Clean the Media Cache in Premiere.  I tried that next.  When I re-launched Premiere and the conform process begain to do it's thing, building new files.  When it was done, ALL of my clips could be selected and Audio Gain performed.  SUCCESS!  The answer to Audio Gain crashing Premiere Pro, in my case, was to clean the media cache.
Interestingly, that's not the end of the story; there's still some funky issue with one single audio clip in this sequence.  But since the Audio Gain crash isn't happening anymore, I'll present the new issue in a new thread.

  • Canon 300 footage crashing Premiere PRO 6 on Mac PRO

As stated above... C300 footage crashes Premiere Pro when using on my Mac Pro. It happens when you scrub through the footage.  I have done plenty of searches and everyone with a Mac Pro seems to be having the same problem. The footage also has glitches in the frames when it plays and renders.  The only solution I have found is to transcode the footage to something else, which kind of defeats the purpose of using Premiere Pro 6 in the first place.  I know this is a problem specific to the Mac Pro because my Macbook Pro does not have this issue when dealing with C300 footage.  Does anyone know of any actual solution to this other than transcoding all the footage?

    Hello,
Because you've said you already "re-downloading":
    1. Maybe you have to activate/deactivate, so please have a look there:
    http://helpx.adobe.com/x-productkb/policy-pricing/activation-deactivation-products.html
2, Sometimes, we know in the meantime, the "opm.db file" is the culprit. In this case you should delete it.
    3. Did you already try "uninstalling and re-installing"?
Be careful with (de)installing aso. by (de)installing by your own resources. As much as I regret it and as strange as it may seem I fear it's a challenge for Adobe's Creative Cloud Cleaner Tool.
Sometimes - for whatever reasons - CC doesn't "want" to work. In this case you should CC completely delete and reinstall by help of Adobe Creative Cloud Cleaner Tool. (A try to uninstall by own resources is not enough!)
I quote: Adobe Creative Suite Cleaner Tool helps resolve installation problems for Adobe Creative Cloud and Adobe Creative Suite (CS3-CS6) applications. The tool removes installation records for prerelease installations of Creative Cloud or Creative Suite applications. It does not affect existing installations of previous versions of Creative Cloud or Creative Suite applications.

I am editing a video in MP4 in Premiere 2014 cc When I import to Indesign 2014 cc gives the error message.

I'm sorry for a MOST obvious couple of questions, but we need to get them out of the way...
Exactly HOW are you switching layers?  If by clicking with the mouse, exactly where on the layer panel are you clicking with the mouse?

  • Imported avi crashes premiere pro cs4...sound only on windows movie maker

    Hello all,
So when I go to import an avi it just crashes premiere pro...but first it turns into a sound only file, then crashes. With windows movie maker it only plays the sound?
Anyone else have these problems? I don't really want to use other video editors...
    Oh and I'm running Vista.
    Suggestions please.

    I'm sorry I don't have a quick answer.
    From what I can tell
    - Vista X64 uses MovieMaker 64bit
    - MovieMaker 64bit requires 64bit codecs (I think there is an experimental 64 bit ffdshow on sourceforge that might work)
    - However installing 64bit codecs may stop your 32bit video apps from rendering properly.
I didn't provide links to the experimental ffdshow build cause I didn't try it myself.
If I were you, I'd give up on getting Movie Maker working for now, and just focus on Premiere pro. ? Since it is a paid application they should provide good support. You can't be alone with this issue. If they require codec information just tell them it's a H.264 video with PCM Audio in a AVI wrapper. Guess a quick snapshot video could be provided if they needed one.
    ps.
. I'm just a user, not affiliated with Creative)
(pss... I use Vista x64 as well, and do not get video in moviemaker either)

  • 3rd party plugins crash Premiere after restart.

Yesterday, everything worked fine. I have a Sequence with clips and have been happily rendering from it for a week.
It has a mixture of Magic Bullet Looks, Film Convert and native effects across a range of clips.
Today, on opening Premiere I find that if any of the 3rd party plugins are enabled I can't render - worse, they crash Premiere.
I have not installed anything or changed anything since I was last using Premiere. I installed an update to the Creative Cloud desktop app this morning, but that was after I started having these issues.
I have tried restarting Premiere numerous times.
Rendering is fine with native Premiere plugins.
    System:
    Win 7 Pro
    Core i7 950
    12gb RAM
    Quadro FX3800
    Running Adobe CC, latest versions

It gets wierder. After the Creative Cloud desktop app was updated it said a whole bunch of programs needed updating so I updated Premiere.
On restart it now wont even recognise the .MTS files it was happily reading earlier.
Apparently it is now an Unsupported Compression Type, which it clearly wasn't earlier.
Windows plays the file fine so this is ANOTHER Premiere issue I'm having now...

  • Some SFX crashing Premiere Pro 5.5

I have some SFX libraries, which are .aif files, and for some reason importing them causes Premiere to lock up and I have to force quit it. Any idea why that might be happening? These are SFX I regularly used in FCP projects.
    Thanks!

Thanks man. I have a Mac Pro tower, dual 2 gHz dual-core processors (quad) with 10 gigs of RAM. It's a bit old, but it handles most of this stuff perfectly.
I don't see how I can attach a file to this message board, but the file (files) in question were .aif files, the finder calls them "AIFF-C audio." They play fine in quick look, quicktime, and FCP. On import, they either crash Premiere or lock it up so that I have to force it to quit anyway.
If there's a way to attach one I will, but hopefully that gives you enough info. Thanks for your help. I'm still getting over the transition from FCP, and loving CS5.5, so figuring out how to make little things like this go smoother is very helpful.

  • Applying Time Code to a Transparent Video Layer Crashes Premiere Pro

Everytime I add timecode to a transparent layer spanning my entire sequence it crashes Premiere Pro.  The only work around I've found is to turn that layer into a nested sequence.  Not sure why that works and would like to fix the problem.
    Thanks
    Rick Nichols

What operating system? What version of Premiere Pro? If Premiere Pro CS5, have you installed the Premiere Pro CS5 (5.0.2) update? That update fixes a lot of problems.

  • 'create multi-camera source sequence' crashes premiere pro

    Hi,
I use 'create multi-camera source sequence' to sync up 2nd system audio with DSLR footage.
If i select more than say 10 clips to sync with an audio file it will crash premiere pro CC 2014 50% of the time.
Does anyone else find this? is it naturally unstable?
    syncing by 'audio mixdown'
I'm on a new Mac Pro 6 core, 16gb RAM, Pegasus 2 RAID.
    Cheers

You can see a good tutorial on the entire process here - http://tv.adobe.com/watch/learn-premiere-pro-cc/multicamera-workflows-with-premiere-pro/
The help page also gives step by step - Adobe Premiere Pro Help | Multi-camera editing workflow.  I was talking about step 4. Create a multi-camera target sequence.

  • Warp Stabilizer Constantly Crashing Premiere Pro CC 2014

I have never had an issue applying warp stabilizer to clips, now it constantly crashes my system during the analyze phase. Does not seem to be an issue with any other effects. Have the most current version of premiere CC 2014. Running Windows 8.1 Plenty of memory, etc. Has never been an issue, now it happens every time! Help!!

I am having similar issue - without the crashing. Any clips I use warp stabilizer on do not retain their render after I close the project.
What version of Premiere Pro? Include the minor version number (e.g., Premiere Pro CS5.5 with the 5.5.2 update).   v8.0.1 (21) build  2014.0.1 release
Have you installed the recent updates? (If not, you should. They fix a lot of problems.) Cloud says i'm up to date
What operating system? This should include specific minor version numbers, like "Mac OSX v10.6.8"---not just "Mac".  Windows 8.1
What kind(s) of source footage? When telling about your source footage, tell us about the codecs, not just the container types. For example, "H.264 in a .mov container", not just "QuickTime".    mp4 from a gopro
If you are getting error message(s), what is the full text of the error message(s)? no error
What were you doing when the problem occurred?
Has this ever worked before? no
What other software are you running? Chrome
Do you have any third-party effects or codecs installed? No
Tell us about your computer hardware. Be especially certain to tell us about third-party I/O hardware (e.g., AJA, Matrox, Blackmagic, MOTU).  Dell latitude e7440 8gb ram, ssd
Are you using Mercury Playback Engine GPU Acceleration? i dont think so
Does the problem only happen with your final output, with previews, or both?  clips do not stay rendered in timeline after saving/close a project and reopen
