Mp4 h.264 1080p60 compression help

i have a sanyo fh1 camcorder that i've recorded a lot of clips in full 1080p60, and is saved in mp4 format with h.264 codec. i realize this isn't a good editing format so i have tried using mpeg streamclip and compressor to change the format to suite fcp 7 better but none seem to be working. I was told to use an apple intermediate codec or apple pro res (lt). so i tried those in compressor and a couple issues ensued. 1) the playback of the encoded video always has several glitches every couple of seconds making the footage hard to enjoy. These glitches resulted when i used mpeg streamclip as well. 2) when i imported the files in fcp 7 and dragged to timeline the sequence settings didn't match so i said yes match the clip and sequence settings but then the red bar appeared over my clip in the timeline which i'm not sure exactly what it means whether its offline or needs rendering but whatever the case there is no audio only beeping. Just wondering if there is any way to keep my encoded version flawless without glitches, and if i should be converting the 1080p footage to 720p to make it more useable.

hey guys thanks for you advice i actually think i solved my issue when i started ecoding to the apple intermediate codec with deinterlacing selected. I was a little confused why i had to deinterlace my video though since i'm pretty sure it was originally filmed in 60p. but i guess my lack of knowledge on the subject would be why it doesn't make exact sense. This method works with perian installed as well so i didn't have to keep it deleted after all. and my HD is 5400rpm sata drive, and so far it has been doing fine now encoding to full unscaled 1080p60 when i deinterlace it.

    Hi there
I try to export FCP project in mp4 (H.264) with a bitrate of 6000kbps without success, can u help?
It seems it can't be more that 2048kbps and audio is set to 44100 even if I choose 48000. I can do it in QT but it gives a .mov and I want a mp4.

I try to do it simple:
We have macbook pro, we are not administrators of the computers, we have Final cut Studio installed on (FCP and compressor) can we or no exporting project in .mp4 with codec AVC/H.264 and in interlaced? Please no answer with sharware and other stuff, just are compressor and FCP able to do that?

  • VideoDisplay component to play mp4/h.264 content

    Hi,
I want to build a simple video player that plays HD movie
    content.
Can the VideoDisplay component in flex builder 3 be used play
    mp4/h.264 content?
If so how is it done as I have tried setting VideoDisplay's
source to a local MP4 file and it will not play? I know for sure
that the file is loaded and that it is h.264.
    Can anyone please help me?
    Regards

    Flexchief

    Hey chief,
I think you'll find the answer to this issue lies in your
    encoding, not in Flex.
The VideoDisplay component plays FLV files and H.264. Your
video file must adhere to the MPEG4 specs. If you've created an MP4
file using an Adobe product, this should work if you did not stray
too far from the Adobe Media Encoder settings, like trying to
squeeze the file size down too far. Flash player 9.0.115.0 or later
must be used to view H.264 video.
If in doubt, use AME to create a small MP4 clip at default
settings (use something like "web banner 320x240") and see if that
plays. If it plays, start going through all your encoding settings
and see if you set something out of spec--like maybe the audio
settings. Just use straight AAC for the audio, 48kHz, 192 kbps
bitrate. Video, use NTSC (fps shouldn't matter...) progressive,
square pixels, "main" profile, "level" of 3. Change the Bitrate
encoding to CBR (you are probably using VBR for high quality, but
    just try it).
Any of these settings may trip Flex up. You just have to
experiment. If this doesn't work, send me some more info on how you
    created the video file.

  • Dynamic Streaming - problems with MP4 (h.264)

    Hey Flash Guru's
Im wondering if anyone have had any similar problems with the MP4 (H.264) format when implementing Dynamic Streaming using a FMS server?
Basicly we developed a player that detects the users bandwidth and plays the appropiate VOD stream (500, 1000 or 1500 kb/sec). Its tested with NetLimiter and works perfectly switching bitrates/files during the movie with both MP4 (h.264) and FLV (On2Vp6).
The problem occurs when you seek (jumps in the progressbar). When playing the MP4 files the player often uses 2-10 seconds to start the stream again. But when using FLV files the seeking is seamless and starts the stream within 2 seconds everytime.
So my question is if the FMS servers, Flash or the Dynamic Streaming got an issue with MP4 files?
    Any help would be appreciated.
    Best regards
    Bo
    Denmark

H264 content does take quite a few images to get rolling before playback starts.  That's normal but it shouldn't take 10 seconds - it sounds like your buffer length might be overly long and it's taking a while to fill up after the seek.  Consider keeping a short buffer like as small as 0.1 seconds for playback starts.  Once you get your Play.Start or your Buffer.Full message then you can adjust the buffer length on the fly to something longer to handle the bumps.
It's also possible that you're getting the high bandwidth stream again when you seek by mistake.  Check your server logs to see that you're getting the play that you're expecting there.

  • MP4 H.264 video won't play in Flash Player

I am using a Mac Book, OS X 10.8.5; FireFox 32.0.1; Flash Player 16.0.0.305.  I am trying to play video (MP4 H.264 format) that works on VLC, Quicktime Player & Real Player but won't play through Flash Player.  Why?

I'll take a look at the GPL sources to see how the firmware encodes the video output, I think the mpeg encoder might be built into the firmware's Linux kernel (instead of a stand-alone encoder program), I see references to the IBM mpeg2 headers but I'm not sure. But honestly addressing this possible bug is not the first thing on my todo list, but I do fidn this report interesting enough to merit investigation.
May I ask what you are using for the Samba server (aka windows shares)? Do you use your desktop PC, or perhaps a NAS server?
As an interim thing to try, I advice you install VLC media player to view the files, or to use VLC to examine the media files properties to see what you can findout.
IF you must use Windows media player, then I suggest you look into the combine community codex package.

  • Export multichannel mp4/h.264 with Adobe Premiere Pro CC

    Dear community,
we currently test the Adobe Premiere Pro CC trial (German) on a Windows 7 Professional PC.
However, we are not succentful in exporting a multichannel mp4/H.264 clip.
We haven't found an answer on our issue so far, so I hope that this question was not answered several times before in this forum.
If we chosse the H.264 exporter, we cannot select a multichannel audio export (only mono, stereo, 5.1).
In contrary, if we select the Quicktime exporter, we are able to export our sequence with a 4 channel audio master with 4 mono tracks, but we can only export it with a DVCPro Codec in a mov container.
If we try to select a HD H.264 preset we get an error alert stating that the preset contains a not compatible video codec.
    What are we doing wrong?
    Thanks for every suggestion.
    Thanks in advance
    André

    Thanks for your thoughts, Richard.
Your are right, we currentky use the Adobe Premiere Creative Cloud version.
We managed it to solve at least the error message. It was caused because Quicktime was not installed together with the Adobe Premiere Pro / AME setup on our computer.
After we installed Quicktime 7 manually, we can select a Quicktime/H.264 preset without any problems within the exporter settings.
However, the Quicktime/H.264 export dialog seems to only allow a mono or stereo audio export. No multichannel-audio export.
This possibility is only displayed in Richards case, if we select the Quicktime exporter and an Uncompressed Video or DV preset.
Our question to the Adobe developer guys is the reason behind this limition? Other video authoring prograns can export a mp4 with H.264 Codec with multichannel AAC without any problems.
How can we do this with Adobe Premiere Pro (not necessarily via Quicktime)?

  • FLV supporting but .mp4 (H.264 encoded) video not supporting in mobile browser?

MP4 file required Flash Player 10 to play video I know this,I can watch video from youtube.com in mobile bowser also.
Please look at the following url which is not opening in Mobile browser but can open in computer broswer.

I want the above url to be play in both computer and mobile browser also as it calling  .mp4 file from Flash Media Server.
    Thanks

Are you using Flash Lite Plug-in or Flash Player Plug-in on your mobile browser. I have a feeling that you are using Flash Lite Plug-in and flash lite plug-in (latest is 4.0 i suppose) does not support H264 encoded files.
MP4 file which you are playing from youtube might not be H264 encoded , it might be On2 VP6 which is supported in MP4 container.

  • MP4/H.264 Audio Skipping

I just upgraded to the new 7.2.2 and I now have an MP4 file that is not playing properly. I drop it in the project and bring it up on the source monitor as well as drop it in a timeline. Playing the footage, it looks fine but the audio is cutting out and skipping. There are no places where its no audio, but rather sounds like frames ar ebbing dropped. It plays audio properly for a few seconds then seems to jump several frames ahead. Like I said, the video does not do this.
The footage came from a Sony Handicam that has AVCHD format ay 60 fps, and I used Prelude to bring it in as MP4/H.264 to 23.975 fps. It worked FINE with the previous version of Premiere and have already produced several things from it without this problem.
I have tried having the footage being re-interpreted at different frame rates and it changes the pitch of the audio, but does not take out the issues with the skipping/jumping ahead to audio frames.
I need a solution to this, Adobe. Really irritated these problems pop up with new versions. They are supposed to fix old problems, not break things that are already working. My project is now on hold, but due tomorrow.

Ok, bit of an update. I had assumed the icon I had in my dock would be loading up the NEW version (8.0) or Premiere. It wasn't. So the skipping problem I had was running on the 7.2.2 version. However, I found version 8, loaded it up and it has the very same problem. The audio is jumping frames or something. It is hard to explain. But it is happening with BOTH 7.2.2 and 8 versions. Sounds like the codec was re-written that both versions use and it's totally fouled up.
All my Canon 7D and 5D Mark II footage works fine.
I may try and open Final Cut Pro X and see if that clip gives me the same problem on that platform.

  • Programs for converting avi to mp4/h.264

As the title says. I'm looking for a really good program for this, i want really good video quality, and it doesn't matter if the program is for free or if u need to buy it. I'm a windows user.

As I understand it, AVI is a somewhat lower quality to begin with. That said, you can use Quicktime Pro to convert to your specified format. Quicktime Player for Windows is free; the QT Pro upgrade will be required to output to mp4/h.264.
You can get Quicktime via http://www.apple.com/quicktime/

  • Nokia N92 mp4 h.264 player

Do you have any idea how to play mp4 h.264 files in Nokia N92. If I download for example "Tagesschau file " from Nokia Podcasting there is no possible to open mp4 h.264 files in N 92. Is it possible to provide some upgrade ? J.L.

It's not a matter of downloading a codec.
You would need to transcode the videos. I.E. Use Super encoder or other tool in the PC to change the encoding to a format that the phone will recognize.
There are also some third party apps you could try installing in the N92/93 to play other types of videos like DivX.
Go to Handago.com or other on-line store and search for S60 3.0 video players.

Just updated to CC2014 and now premiere can not play any mp4/h.264 file only showing a green image. Even if you export a working clip thats a different format from premiere as h.264 and import it back in, it will only show up green. Media Encoder 2014 is also having the same issue. I've tried clearing the cache, creating a new project, restarted the pc, reinstalled the software, updated drivers... can't seem to fix it.
    Here's a screenshot:
I was going to downgrade back to the previous version but the option to select which version you want to download has now either been removed or is not working on the site.

I'm not seeing that here.  Such files work fine.
You might try looking at the graphics card/driver.

  • Problems with mp4 (h.264) files, colour desaturated.

Hey guys. I've been having problems with mp4 h.264 files (not quicktime h.264). When playback on windows media player and windows classic media player it looks terrible. the saturation are weird (espesially on colours like yellow and red) and there seems to be this weird blur on the image. For so long I thought there was problem with the export from Premiere Pro, today however when playback on Quicktime player or VLC player it matches the orginal. I exported the file through premiere pro. I don't know what the problem is, maybe it's just the playback on windows media player and window classic media player.

On the contrary, with more than high probability playback in QuirkTime shows you wrong colours because of its crooked colour management.
How do you judge on colour matching between your source file and what you see in media players?
What is your spec and GPU in particular? Do you use any sort of colour management in its settings?

  • Compression help!  Stuttering HD export h.264???

    Guys,
This is a problem I have had for a long time. I am just realizing it isn't a hardware playback issue and more likely my export settings which is causing this issue. I am trying to export h.264 .mov files of 3d animation. The res. is 1280 x 720. This problem has existed for FAR to long for me and I just can't stand it anymore. The frames are rendered out of Modo or Maya as .TGA. I then export using a variety of settings as either h.264 or mpeg-4 on a quad g5, or a MacbookPro Core 2 duo 2.33Ghz, or a MacPro Octo all with lots of ram and yet the stuttering on playback of the exported sequences continue. Could someone point me to suggestions for setting the export options properly? I am about to sell a slew of tutorials for the Modo 3D, Maya and Unity 3D communities and I would obviously like my videos to playback without stuttering. Any help would be appreciated IMMENSELY
    Thanks for your time.
    Gary Haus

Thanks for your continued help. Here is a link to the .mov file
right mouse and save as to download it. About 25Mb
    www.pixelmojo.com/HexaCOLOUR_Test2.mov
This is the background(not finished rendering) for the eventual composite.
Open Quicktime Pro. Open Image sequence from File menu. Choose the first file in the list of frames. Choose export form file menu. Set type to Quicktime movie. Change options to compression type - None. Millions of colors(no need for Alpha) Best quality. Set name and wait for QT to 'bake' it out.
Then using the uncompressed file I export to h.264 or .mpeg-4 with different settings. You can see the attached movie doesn't run very smoothly at certain points.
    Thanks again,

  • How do I convert an .mp4 h.264 file into a simple Mpeg 2 file...

I've had Quicktime for quitesometime now.
I'been been through many QT versions but version 7 series, I think has problems.
    I've been dl'ing .mp4 files, with h.264 codecs.
Quicktime plays them wonderfully but I'd like to put the movies on my media servers and stream them to my network dvd players(thin-clients).
They can stream mpeg 1 and 2 great, as well as Xvid, Divx, and even VOBs'.
I installed Quicktime 7 along time ago, and tried an export to many different data file formats. I would either get no video or no sound. I have just about every codec needed to do any conversion to Divx or Xvid.
    I also installed 3ivx.
Can anyone tell me how something so simple can be so difficult? QuickTime, if it plays it, and shows that its capable of exporting to different formats, should be able to do the job.
Beleive me, I know what your thinking. I've going as far as formatting, reinstalling Windows XP Pro, Updating, etc many times just to try to re-encode these .mp4 files into something big, yes, a large RAW file. Something that can be easily converted into anything else such as the basic old Mpg 1 or 2 file...
Please, any help would be apprecaited!
    NeuroPsyche

I tried ffmpeg but it just doesn't seem like it does a very good job at converting. I dont know why, but I think its because the .mp4 file has 6.1 sound or that new acc codec.
I'm not sure about it, but when I do use ffmpeg, the sound doens't come out.
    Thanks!
    Dave.
QuickTime doesn't have the capability to export to
MPEG-1 or MPEG-2, at least not without third-party
codecs (and I'm not aware of any for Windows for
those formats, though there could be some somewhere).
You might want to take a look at the open-source ffmpeg which can
convert H.264 to MPEG-1 and MPEG-2 (as well as a
    number of other formats).
    Hope this helps.
