just fine on my Mac but when I upload them all I get is text ****.
What am I doing wrong?

  • M4a, m4a.mp4 problem

    I've recently created a podcast:
    http://www.robertdelaat.com/podcast/4dapeople/4dapeople.xml
On windows it runs fine and starts downloading the episode right away, but on mac it keeps saying: this file might be corrupted/incompatible format. If you download the file manually, I see that it downloads the file instead of downloading it as a .m4a fila as a .m4a.mp4 file. How do I fix this?

I downloaded the media file in Safari, taking the URL from your feed, and it downloaded and played correctly in the browser. However the URL has spaces in it and this is not a good idea.
Where else are you checking it? It doesn't appear to be in iTunes, from searching on the title: NetNewswire read the xml file but did not offer the video: FireFox, which should read it as rss, says 'This XML file does not appear to have any style information associated with it' and displays the code.
Are you using Personal Domain to redirect the URL to a web.me.com URL? If so, how did you upload the files? - if you did so using the MobileMe interface this can cause problems with FireFox, though no usually with Safari.
The feed itself does not validate: please see
    http://www.feedvalidator.org/check.cgi?url=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.robertdelaat.com%2Fp odcast%2F4dapeople%2F4dapeople.xml
So in particular all links must have http:// on the start, and you should remove the spaces in any URL.

  • Another 5300 and mp4 problem w/ Nokia response

    Hi,
With the help of a friend, I've tried several mp4 videos on my 5300, and all of them (encoded with different programs) have a sync problem between the video and the audio (audio is delayed). Since we used several encoders, we assume the problem's with the phone's decoder.
I wrote to Nokia Portugal, letting them know of this, and the several steps we took, etc. They replied stating that the 5300 doesn't support mp4 files... so I replied to them with this link:
http://forum.nokia.com/devices/5300 and even pasting into the e-mail the relevant bit of that page, where it states the 5300 reads those files (how else would it even show the video, even if there's the sync problem). Sooooo... they wrote to me again, stating once more that the 5300 isn't compatible with the mp4... hilarious, and sad.
I'm thinking of either contacting Nokia in Finland or (most likely to start with) going to a Nokia store here in Lisbon and talking to them about it.
    Just wanted to share

hi... FWIW, I tried 2 things this afternoon. Nero Recode and the Nokia Multimedia viewer (part of PCSuite).
Nero Recode -> Profile Portable AVC, res 176x144, video bitrate 127 kbps. Bad sync. Video playback slow
Nokia MM -> 176x144 mp4. Good sync. Poorer video quality than the file produced by Nero.
With the video res limited to 176x144, and given that it takes nearly an hour to recode an hour's worth of video, I doubt anything is worth watching on the phone. At least not TV series or so... maybe a talkshow yeah...

  • Publish to mp4 problem in Premier Elements 12

The only way I see to publish to the best quality mp4 file is to choose to Publish+Share to Mobile Phones and Players and choose the Apple TV,iPad, iPhone4 - 1080p 29.97 presets.  That produces an mp4 file which plays perfectly in the Microsoft Windows Media Player that comes with Windows 7.  However when the video is finished, the Media Player produces the following message:
"windows media player encountered a problem while playing this file"
I can bring that mp4 file into a separate encoding program and re-encode it, and Windows Media Player does not produce that error at the end.  So it appears that Premier Elements is producing an MP4 file that Windows Media Player in Windows 7 is not completely happy with.
I should note that there is no problem using the Premier Elements produced mp4 file in the Media Player in Windows 8.  I would, however, like to sort this out for Windows 7.  Any ideas?

I am running Premier Elements 12 on my Windows 7 desktop.
The video I import into Premier Elements is a .MOV file crated with a Nikon D800 camera.  All I did to the video in Premier was to add a several seconds textual introduction and a several secolnds textual ending along with background music.  The .Mov file was 1920 x 1080 with 29 frames/sec.
I had chosen the Mobile Phones and Players route since in previously looking at the Computer route, I only noticed the Adobe Flash Video, which worked fine--but as you know many people now can't view Flash.  Now, however, you have, I believe, pointed me in the correct direction: Under Computer, choose MPEG.  I did that using the HD 720p 30 preset, and produced a video that did not have the error message at the end when viewed with Media Player.
So, now I have something that works fine, and can use that.  However, I like the file size produced by the Mobile version that produces the error (which is only produce by Windows Media Player and not in Chrome or Firefox if I place the file on the web and link to it.)

  • IMovie mp4 problem - Video "flashes" pixels?

    Hi!
After exporting, this mp4 file keeps "flashing pixels" time to time. Here is a sample of the problem:
    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tnpqjaaKdz0

That looks to me like bitrate starvation -- too low of a bitrate for something that vivid and detailed?
What is this shot with? What's your original footage bitrate?
When you export to Quicktime, did you choose H.264 and at best quality already?!?
iMovie 11 H.264 is good, but can be a bit lacking in terms of quality compared to some of the best H.264 encoders out there.
I personally don't use H.264 and prefer to export either uncompressed or DV stream and use the power of my Quad PC to encode to better quality H.264.

  • AVI to Mp4 problem

I am using Videora to convert avi movies to mp4 - no problem. The problem is when I try to import them into iTunes, it adds them to the Music section, and not the Movie. Help!!

That's what I'm trying to do, and why I'm confused. It saves avi's to mp4 format. if I pick mpeg-4/movie, same problem. I can't get it to convert avi to the video format I need to see on the ipod. I really appreciate your patience. Just confused I guess. Thanks.

  • Use VideoDisplay with MP4 problems

    Hi!
I am using a videoDisplay to play a MP4 file that is stored at server, from my  "AIR for Android" application.
    And i have two behaviors:
    1. The video don´t is showed, but the videoDisplay don´t dispatch any
    event of error.
    2. The video is showed, but the video isn't showed flowed.
I think that the problem of first case is a encoding problem.
Maybe, the problem of second case is that the videoDisplay component don't allow the management streaming video.
I have searched at the AS3 documentation and I have seem that I must to use dynamic streaming over HTTP to get that video will be played to fluid form.
But, if i use this method, i must use the "File Packager" to package the file and must also install the Apache HTTP Origin Module on my web server to serve the streams.
    http://help.adobe.com/en_US/flex/using/WSc78f87379113c38b-669905c51221a3b97af-8000.html#WS 19f279b149e7481c108e976f12c2d76ba3e-8000
My  question is, can i play of fluid form web MP4 files without using "Apache HTTP Origin Module" nor RTMP? How?
    I´m using the next code:
    <s:VideoDisplay id="video"
            autoDisplayFirstFrame="true" autoPlay="false"   pauseWhenHidden="true"
            source="http://10.15.20.147/video.mp4"/>
    Any idea is wellcome! Thanks!

Hey Katrina! Thanks! I read through that page that you gave me and it said:
"Note: If clicking the Return to Merchant link doesn’t allow you to complete the PayPal sign-up process in iTunes, please try following these steps again using a different web browser."
It didn't work in Firefox, I used good old Internet Explorer. Thanks for your help!

  • A strange mp4 problem - nokia 5800

    I just bought a new phone - nokia 5800, V31.0.101
I can't play any of my mp4 files. Even the original ones. It shows me a white screen with some blinking lines. I can nearly see the video I want to watch. Too many blinking things etc. I tried to record an mp4 video, same. I can record it but when I want to play it, I see that white screen.

Hi, if you can't play pre-installed films or video tken by the phone, and you just bought it, then I would return it and insist on replacement/repair . The phone could work correctly with a software update or a hard reset, but if it's a brand new phone you shouldn't be having to do this. Contact your supplier and insist on a solution, try for replacement. 5800 is a good media phone and sounds like you've been unlucky .
    Good Luck

  • AVI to iPod / MP4 Problem

I bought Quicktime pro so I could convert my AVI files to watch them on my iPod video.
The program converts (exports) about half the movie and then pops up a window that says it needs "more components" to finish the job.
This person would be grateful to any kind soul who can take her by the hand and walk her through the process of getting AVI movies onto my iPod video!
    Thanks!

I bought Quicktime pro so I could convert my AVI files to watch them on my iPod video.Purchasing QT Pro does not add any more AVI support to QT than you have with the basic player. By this I mean, if you can watch it, you cant convert it. In addition, since some AVI components are not available for the Mac at all and others are m=not available for OS X, you are automatically doomed to not being able to convert "all possible" AVI format combinations.
The program converts (exports) about half the movie and then pops up a window that says it needs "more components" to finish the job.Since you indicate you can convert half the file, it sounds as if you may have installed a proprietary codec which does work but have failed to pay the registration fee to completely "unlock" the export codec. Suggest you find out which codec you are using (e.g. Flip4Mac, DivX, etc.), find out how much they want, and decide if you want to pay up.
This person would be grateful to any kind soul who can take her by the hand and walk her through the process of getting AVI movies onto my iPod video!
My best advice would be to simply not use these files and allow them the dignity of a long overdue death. However, if you must use them, then learn how to distinguish the different audio and video codecs that can be used in combination in this file container. (Us things like the Finder "Get Info," QT "Show Movie Info." QT "Show Movie Properties," or similar media player windows to for this purpose.) Next, google the codec to see if Mac components are available. Lastly, install the available codecs most needed. The problem here is if you install too few, then some files will likely not play. Install to many codecs and usually create conflicts which also prevent files from playing. (I.e., you may need to determine which components are "essential" to you and which you can live without).

  • 5300 and mp4 problem

I converted a dvd to mp4 format. I put it on my cell and I can get the audio but no video. Anyone have any clue why??
    Thanks
    PF

what soft did you use to create the mp4? and what profile MPEG4 did you use?
There's so many MPEG4 variants around, that it's quite hard to ensure compatibility... I've seen that 5300 is supposedly mpeg4 compatible, but detailed info on that from Nokia would be helpful.

  • Converting DVCProHD into MP4 Problems with audio

    Hi.
i guess i'm stumped. i've tried everything i know to correct my problem. but...
anywho... my problem is that i have a sequence in FCP that is DVCProHD 720p 60p and i am trying to export with compressor to post the vid on Youtube.
i realize that youtube is not going to let my video look great... but they do support HD now, so i have an HD version available to watch on youtube... but my problem is that the audio on the highly compressed .flv version (default youtube) sounds like it's underwater, and i've treid everything i know to fix it.
here's the link so you can see what i mean:
    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lffJymf5Cdk
i used h.264 for dvd as the compression on this one. but nothing seems to work in getting the audio correct...

That underwater sound is a result of the mp3 encoding using an FFT.
You hear the same effect on mobile phones with background sounds.
The solution is to make the sounds louder.
Look at your sound on a meter. Your levels are extermely low.
Try to compress or maximixe them (I mean level compression,
not data compression.) so that the are peaking at around -12dbFS.
    Then do the mp3 compression.
Of course, it's a problem that your source material is mp3.
And doing the compression twice at low levels really messes it up.
However, it probably sounds OK in FCP. so do the level change there,
before you recompress it. It would be even better if you could start
with a non-mp3 version of the original music.

  • Query: MacOS 10.5.3 update, Quicktime and mp4

Hi, this maybe a 'stupid' question but I'll ask anyway.
Earlier this 2008 I recall the Quicktime 7.4 update having problems playing mp4 files, and I ended up downgrading back to Quicktime 7.2 (using Pacifist) to solve my problem. Ever since then, I've been reluctant to apply successive Leopard OS X system updates for fear of Quicktime 7.2 being upgraded again, and so running into mp4 problems again. My question is: with Apple's most recent 10.5.3 update, I assume it updates Quicktime (to what version?) and is it OK with mp4 files?
    Fox27!

    Ahhh! Thank you, Fox!
PS: error in original post: I'm using QuickTime 7.3.1 (not 7.2)

  • I cannot load movies to my new iPad (iPad 3)

    Hi there,
I downloaded a movie in my pc (windows 7). I'm having an iTunes version of 10.6.3. The movie format which i downloaded is .mkv. When i tried to add the file to my library, its not showing in the movie list. surprisingly its not giving me any error also.
Please suggest me how to do that since i want to play movie in my ipad.
i tried downloading a .mp4 format, its adding to the itunes, but not syncing to iPad. Its giving me an error saying that the movie cannot be added to iPad.
    With best regards,
    Sumesh

While the just-recommended HandBrake produces compatible videos, you might want to prefer "remuxing' the videos as it takes orders of magnitude less time and doesn't decrease the video quality.
You'll want to give a try to the MKV remuxers on Windows. If you have access to a Mac, read http://www.iphonelife.com/blog/87/tutorial-roundup-remuxing-mkv-videos-ios-frien dly-formats-%E2%80%93-part-ii
As far as the MP4 problem is concerned, its H.264 level must be decreased with H264 Level Editor by CoolSoft. Read http://www.iphonelife.com/blog/87/making-stock-videos-application-play-every-mp4 -files-possible

  • PP CS4 Problem with exported H.264 .mp4 video. Can't AME do proper encoding?

Trying to export a Video of ~60mins using the H.264 Codec .mp4 which converts in AME successfully, allthough when playing back the f
ile, it has problems after ~40mins. When i try to jump to a later point in the timeline to playback i.e. 48th minute or 50:10 or wha
tever, the image freezes, audio continues and it takes 10-20 secs untill the video image continues.
I tried different playback programms like VLC,Windows media etc. and different compressions 2-5Mbps as CBR and VBR1 / 2, nothing cha
    nged.
Source is Sony DV and i have some still images as .png. Since the first 30mins work alright, i thought i try out if something with t
he source material in the timeline is causing the problem , so i cut after the 30st minute and copied the first 30mins behind that
to get a 60mins video, but exaclty the same playback issue after ~40th minute.
Is this an most likely a problem caused by AME using H.264 .mp4 Codec?
Other videos i did months before in the same way using the same source material worked fine. Adobe Premiere and AME is up to date!
    Thank you

hmn sounds like it makes sense. I have seen that "i-Frame in GOP" somewhere in PP i think.
Allthough i recall that i had videos i exported which played fine till the end with no delay at a later seek distance.
I noticed that quicktime player has the same issue but is much quicker than VLC.
Is there a work arround or alternative? Can it be improved?
    I need H.264 & .mp4 for webpodcast on vimeo.com
The only thing which looks strange to me ist that the lenght of the delay showing the images (i guess finding it) takes almost the same time
as on other later point like at the very end. Id assume that if its normal behavior the delay should become bigger and bigger with a later point in time ?
Appreciate your time to answer jim,Thanks

  • IPod Classic 160GB film library sync problem -  trying to sync films that have converted from purchased DVD to mp4 format locally, not purchases from the online store - all other libraries sync perfect - why?

Hello Apple and the iTunes Windows PC users community.
I am trying to sync films that I have converted from purchased DVD to mp4 format locally, not purchases from the online store. The mp4s all appear and play successfully in my iTunes application but will not sync across to the iPod film library folder.
For your information: I am using iTunes 11.1.3.8 on a Windows 7 64bit machine with 500GB hard disk and 8GB of Ram in the UK.
I have restored the iPod classic 160GB three times now to see if it was a hardware problem with no joy. Each time all the music restores properly as do the podcasts and all the items in TV programmes all appear to sync and work fine.
I have also tried to copy films into the TV Programmes to get around it with no joy. They always go to the films section to start with. It is just the Films library that does not sync - all others work perfectly. As a last resort I have uninstalled and re-installed iTunes with no joy either.
I am technically savvy and have gone through the itunes and ipod settings but nothing appears to make a difference - This is the first time I have had to post here as I can usually solve the majority of the ipod anomilies but this one has me flummoxed.
Has the film encoding type changed in the newest itunes update? - Has this happened to anybody else and is it a hardware, software, or operating system problem.

Having uninstalled the current version 11.1.3.8 and loaded and older version of iTunes 10.7.0.21 I can now categorically confirm that the newest update seems to be causing the problem as the films and TV Programmes are syncing perfectly on this older version.
If you are going to do this please dont forget to remove the  ' iTunes Library.itl' file as this stops the older versions from running as I've just found out
