.mp4 videos only play sound plus 1 frozen frame every 20 seconds

Hello, I am trying to edit some .mp4 videos in QT 7 pro. I was able to edit them before updating but now all they do is play the sound with like a frozen frame every 20 seconds that morphs into the next frame that it chooses to play. I can play these files fine with VLC. I don't have the mpeg-2 playback feature but these are .mp4. I use a PowerBook G4 with panther OS 10.3.9. Anyone have any idea? Thanks.

I solved it, and I'm posting the solution here for someone else. It has to do with the Turbo mode on the Core i7 processor.
I happened to notice that the jump happened during a period of no video on the timeline, and I saw that the playhead literally jumped back, which led me to conclude that this had nothing to do with GPU, but was related to the timebase. I searched the Adobe forums for posts related to a jumping playhead, and found a guy who said that the Turbo mode on the Core i7 processor messes with Premiere's timebase, and the playhead jump is a correction for it.
Switch do regular High Performance mode, and video is completely smooth.
Thank God I didn't go out and buy new video cards and tore the computer apart and did clean installs as was suggested. But it's pure luck, that would have been my next step.

what video are you trying to stream via airplay?
currently only video from youtube app or ipod app is supported.
any other app will only stream the audio.

1.1.3 - iPod Touch video podcasts play sound; only still image

For some strange reason, since getting the new update (but not the January update as I'm not going to pay £13 for that!) for my iPod Touch, video podcasts of trailers downloaded from Apple Trailers through iTunes play as sound files with a random frame from the video appearing as album art.
So if I turn my iPod Touch horizontal, the single image shows up at the end of Cover Flow as audio podcasts do when being played. However, there is no video at all. Normal videos play fine.
What the **** is going on?

Oh ... I'm so stupid. Sorry - when I wrote that they don't show up under VIDEO, I didn't actually check.
They are there and they do work. In fact, I think that as long as people like me remember which is which, having videos only play audio when played from the PODCASTS section is quite useful in some circumstances.
I've learnt my lesson.
Now if only I could get that update for free ...

no changes made to the system before the issue occurred. new drivers were installed for my audio settings after the problem occurred but nothing worked.

Do the Music and Videos app still play through the iPad's speakers ? If so then have you got notifications muted ? Only notifications (including games) get muted, so the Music and Videos apps and headphones, still get sound.
Depending on what you've got Settings > General > Use Side Switch To set to (mute or rotation lock), then you can mute notifications by the switch on the right hand side of the iPad, or via the taskbar : double-click the home button; slide from the left; and it's the icon far left; press home again to exit the taskbar. IPAD to Apple TV OS 4.2 - Netflix app only plays sound?

Using an Ipad with OS 4.2 and Apple TV 2 OS 4.2.(latest updates as at 11/23/2010)
Using the Netflix Application when I move it from IPAD to TV it ONLY plays sound on the TV. In contrast movies or videos from the itunes library play correctly

I am assuming you photos are loaded into your ipad?? If so start by selecting the photo app & the album you wish to play. Select "slideshow" on the ipad, once it is started, tap the top right hand corner of the ipad and you will see the airplay symbol (like an envelope), tap it and select airplay & your photo's will display on the TV
(Make sure the TV and the apple airpaly device are switched on)

Step 1:
In troublshooting the problem you may follow the steps provided below.
a. Click Start, type Sound in the Start Search box.
b. Click Sound in the search results at the top of the Start menu.
c. Click the Playback tab. Notice the check mark next to the default device. For most users,the default device is speaker, change it to headphones. Make sure that your audio settings are configured as expected.
Step 2:
On the Playback tab, select the playback device, click Properties, click the Advanced tab, and make sure that the Default Format is set to the value that you expect. When you finish, close this window to return to the previous window.
Step 3:
On the Playback tab, select the playback device, click Configure, and then make sure the configurations are set correctly.
Method 2:
If the issue persists then I suggest you to follow these below mentioned steps to mute all other sounds when windows detects any communications activity.
a. Click Start, type Sound in the Start Search box.
b. Click Sound in the search results at the top of the Start menu.
c. Click the Communications tab.
d. Click on the radio button according to your convenience, under When Windows detects communications activity.

Airplay only playing sound

I have an iPhone 4 and just got the new iPhone 5 today and on both devices, airplay is only playing sound when I try to mirror a youtube vidio from my iphones to my appleTV. When I set the iphone to mirror to my appletv, i get the message "this device can only play sound over airplay."
Any thoughts as to why?? Don't get it...

What an obnoxious reply. It sounds like you are completely confused by what I was suggesting, so let me try again ...
I had suggested using the Remote app on your iOS device -- not the slim remote control that came with your ATV. Using the Remote app on your iOS device is much easier than the ATV remote control, and using the iOS app is no harder (or slower) than navigating YouTube on your iOS device.
If you don't know what the Remote app is, then you're you're not only missing out on a great way to control your ATV, you're also showing your ignorance (or is it arrogance?)

Video only playing audio

On my PC (Windows7 and ITunes10.6), my music videos only play audio. It did play both video and audio, but currenly only audio is working. Any advise is appreciated.

Any Headphones I plug into my Macbook it only Plays sound out of the Left Earphone??

I got New headphones and after about a week i noticed when I plugged it in it only played sound out of the left headphone, i plugged it into my phone and I pod and it Played out of both, then I plugged in different headphones into my Macbook and had the same problmem. I took a thin cotton swab and a TINY bit of rubbing alcohal and cleaned it out, still didnt work. Any ideas would help thanks! Im in panic mode!!

First check the balance in the Sound System Preferences.
If that is set correct I would bring it in to an Apple store and have them take a look at it.

Can only play sound as root (Solved)

I followed these steps: http://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/ALSA to get my sound working. However, I can only play sound when logged in as root, even though I've added my user to the audio group.

IOS 8 all videos only play in landscape view

TV Shows, Movies and even Music Videos only play in Landscape view, not Portrait. Is this everyone's experience?

Audio out jack only plays sound in the right speaker.

Whenever I plug anything (speakers, earphones, etc.) into the Audio Output jack, it only plays sound through the right speaker/earphone. The left speaker/earphone hardly has any sound at all.
How should I go about fixing this problem?

my daughter has the ipod touch 4th generation and it started only having sound come out of the right speakers in both of my vehicles. I read also it could be a broken socket causing it. Do you know about this? How does one break a socket and how would I repair that? The person on y*hoo answers said to either send it to apple refurbished unit or replace it. Replace it? Really? It's a 64 GB ipod touch that I won at work with reward points which is the only reason I could afford it. Looking for better solution like your's above but I'm worried I will have to send it in. I was looking on my iphone 4 and noticed the volume balance was under Settings>General>Accessibility so I guess it's different on an ipod touch?

[Zen Vision:M] videos only playing first 8 seco

I just got my Z Vision:M today, when I try to play videos that I transfered to the player, the videos only play the first 8 seconds. I updated to the newest version of the firmware and am still getting this problem. How can I fix this? Thanks.

Since you have had the player for a few years you may need to replace the battery. Also having it sit for a looong time without charging it does not help keep the battery in shape.http://www.batteryuni'versity.com/parttwo-34.htm Slipping the tip of a safety pin into the reset hole while the adapter is attached (difficult but doable). Does the charging icon show it as charging while connected? BTW 3 hours is not enough time to charge when it has sat dead for a while.. If it shows that it is charging power it down & leave it til the blue light by the power switch stops pulsing & the charging icon stops blinking.
