.mp4 white screen

My apologies is this has addressed before. I have read the
forum extensively and have not seen this problem addressed.
I am trying to play .mp4 files. I have followed the tech
article
Exploring
Flash Player support for high-definition H.264 video and AAC
audio and have complete success with the sample videos.
I am not having success with .mp4 files exported out of Final
Cut Studio HD using Compressor or using Quicktime conversion. The
audio plays fine but the video is a white screen. I feel certain
this has something to do with how FCS encodes the video. I would
deeply appreciate help or, at least, acknowledgment from other who
are having the same problem.
Thanks in advance!

Sorry I don't have a solution but I do have the same problem. I first encountered it with a .wmv file. Audio is fine but no video. But not all .wmv files show this problem. I have other .wmv files that work just fine. Today I downloaded an .mpg file and the same thing occurred, audio but no video. When I opened the .mpg file in my brower (Safari) instead of QT. It did play the video but at the wrong speed (faster). While the .mpg file showed the video when using the browser the .wmv file is still without video when opened in the browser. I have not been able to find much on this problem.

  • Converting MP4 to FLV - Getting White Screen

I was sent an MP4 video that I have to convert to a Flash video.
The video keeps encoding with audio, but no picture. All I get is a white screen.
I have encoded Flash videos before and have not had this problem.
What do I do from here? Thanks in advance...
I read on one board that I should change the extension from MP4 to MPG, but that didn't help.

Hmmm...so you encode the mp4 and it generates an flv, right?
And then in Flash (I'm just thinking out loud here) you create a
new fla, import -> video and choose the flv and it walks you
through the process where you select 'streaming from server' and
the player skin, etc. and then it places the flv instance on stage
    in the fla.
Then you can fiddle with the stage dimensions, publish it,
and once you upload the flv, the swf with the flv as a parameter,
the swf for the player skin, the .js file and the html file to the
server you should be able to play the video.
If you've done all that, I guess the next question would be
whether you've tried it with another format, like an .avi or
    something else.

  • Why when I export an MP4, I get a white screen?

I've had Quicktime Player 7 Pro for awhile now. Before I had no problems exporting movies I created in After Effects from Quicktime as an MP4 and playing them back. But now, when I open a movie I created in After Effects and export it out of Quicktime as an MP4, it has great audio, but only shows a white screen. What has happened?
    Please help?

I think I figured it out. What I was doing was opening a MP4 I created in After Effects and rendering it out of Quicktime to a MP4 to make the file smaller. For some reason this doesn't work anymore.
But, if I render a mov in After Effects and then open that in QT and render it out to a MP4, it works fine. You know why this is?
Where do I find the codec being used in the  Inspector window?

  • White screen when playing mpeg4, sound ok

I have downloaded the latest version of QT and updates. I have two types of MP4 files I want to play, one is a movie format that my Olympus compact films in, and the other is a video podcast downloaded from the BBC. When I try to play either, I just get a WHITE SCREEN with sound. Any ideas?
    Thanks for any replies

Hi Stormcab. I am receiving the same result when streaming .mov files. Everything worked great until I install QT 7.1.5 and have tested on several PC with same results. I posted a similar questions last week with several replies but no fixes yet.
    Best.

  • White Screen (pop out preview player)

    Hey everyone!
I am working on some HD video files in Mp4 format, mixed with a few JPEG HD images from my Samsung HMX-H200N as well as a mp3 audio file.
The project settings for the video is the standard HD 1080i @ 30fps (although my camera says it's a 1080i/(60)
Nothing in particular is wrong with the editing, as it is going smoothly, but once I clicked on a video in the media section to preview, set in & out markers, and insert the video preview showed up white.  picture attached*.  I can hear the audio when I click play but no video.
+ I checked the forums but the only ones available were for the MAIN preview screen turning white, which mine works fine if I import the videos from the media section into the timeline.
+ earlier I read about performance issues so I decided to go with BLACK VIPER'S tweaked settings for my services
+ I have also moved my scratch disks to my external drive, to which I do not know the RPM's for that HDD but it is an older Simpletech 300 GB Simple Drive
+ I also created a WINDOWS MANAGED paging file for the Simpletech drive
All of these steps taken were performed earlier this morning. And I successfully completed a project without knowing this problem existed, so that's good news.  Any help will be greatly appreciated.

after updating the drivers the pop out player still did not work... so back into the services I went and Lo and Behold, there it was right in front of me!
Seems that in Black Viper's Tweaked settings he instructs you to disable WINDOWS AUDIO VISUAL EXPERIENCE, this is what was preventing the pop out player from showing anything other than the white screen.
I enabled each service one by one to check the results in Elements, and that was a job after all the disabling I did earlier... and double checked by disabling Windows A/V Experience again and got the white screen!  So if you by chance use Black Viper's TWEAKED settings DO NOT DISABLE WAVE.
I am using Elements 8 updated to 8.0.1 with new dll's from Adobe
AMD Phenom II X4 810 processor 2.60 GHz
    8 GB of Ram
    64 bit O/S  windows 7 home premium
Off subject... Do not disable HID if you plan on using your Windows RF remote control...
hope this helps someone!!!! Good night!

  • What driver is making all clips be "white screen"?

I'm using Premiere Pro CC on Windows 7.  I previously was able to import and edit clips via exactly the same workflow - but now, not matter what clips I import, they all appear as the 'white screen'.  The thumbnail is a frame of the video, but as soon as I mouse over, scrub, or try to play the clip, it turns totally white.  Audio will play fine though.
I'm almost positive it has to do with using an AOC display that plugs in via USB.  This is based on a similar issue I had using that display on a Mac and having part of a Blackmagic Design software UI not appear while using that screen.
I've tried lots of things, including updating the driver for my graphics card, from the manufacturer's site.  Does anyone know of something else I can try - especially a way to undo whatever was done when I plugged in that USB display (worked without manually installing any drivers).
Please help.  I needed to finish this project this morning
    Thanks so much!

Hi Kevin.  Yes, in both the Source pane and Timeline/Program, even a .jpg file shows up as just white.
To add to the case for my clips not being the problem, I've tried with every version I captured of this shoot:
Program out to SSD-based capture device, capturing as ProRes HQ (.mov)
Internal recordings on camcorder, as its top quality AVCHD (.MTS)
Locally encoded copy of web stream from CDN's stream encoding app (.mp4)
    CDN's server-side capture of stream (.mp4)
USB Program Out encoded capture from video switcher (.mp4)
Each of those clips imports with a correct thumbnail image, but when scrubbed over or played, it's all white all the time (while audio is played correctly, as intended).  Again, even the .jpg image has a proper thumbnail, but is showing as all white in all the contexts where the video clips are showing as white.
Is my best bet to just do a comprehensive extra local backup, reinstall windows, reinstall all software, restore data - and then start again fresh?  Or are there other less time-consuming and less drastic measures I can try?
I'm really grateful to all who have (or will) offererd help on this.  I know you've got your own work to worry about, and it's a real blessing for me.

  • Sound but no video - just a white screen

    Hi,
I tried to convert some xvid (AVI) files to MP4 using ConvertMovie but it couldn't play or convert the files,
there was just a white screen when I tried to play.
I thought it was just ConvertMovie, because the files play in WMP and VLC player. So I used videora to convert the files.
However, when I transfered the converted files into itunes the same thing happended; sound was fine but video screen was just white (no picture).
Also, it is not just the newly converted files that I have this problem with, all other video files in iTunes now have the same problem.
When I click on a video file, the saved artwork just turns to white. The sound is fine but there is no video throughout the whole duration of the video file.
This is also the same in quicktime.
When I transfer the video files to ipod they play perfectly, so It must be a problem on my computer.
    Please help!!

Just been back into iTunes, and a video file that I have saved in TVshows tab plays fine!!!
    Bizarre
    Hop someone can help

  • Creative Zen 8GB - White screen!! UK resident experience - pls post yours with advi

Having decided upon the 8GB Creative Zen I was very looking forward to giving this to my son..
good price.. good spec.. looks very neat too and then it worked for all of 5 mins on Christmas day.
The poor lad he'd been looking forward to his present for ages..
I loaded all software/firmware correctly.. charged for 4hours as stated.
The 'recovery tool' on this website is simply a tool that updates the firmware again.. well Ive done that 4 times now and completely re-booted the device with NO joy.
ALL I get is a white screen when its turns on.
I've also tried using a paper clip to re-boot.
What do I do? - send it back and receive another zen and run the risk of the same issue.. or simply look for a new mp3/mp4 device around the 00-40 UK pound price range.
This issue seems to be all over the internet.. i've seen it on amazon forums and this forum and in places such as UK and USA.
I am now going to try and load some older firmware onto the device if I can and see if that works..
    I'll post if it does.
    anyone got any suggestions/experiences?
    Thanks
    Rennie

  • White screen (no video) w/ QT&+H.264

I downloaded an H264 .mp4 file and when I view it in QT7, I get a white screen with sound. I've read similar posts and the answer seems to be that those folks weren't running QT7. I am most certainly using QT7 (running Tiger 10.4.3). Am I missing something?

as an update... I got the file to play just fine using VLC on my Linux box. This is really frustrating. You'd think that if an open-source player can play it, then surely Apple's proprietary player could! Apple still has a long way to go as far as supporting a wider variety of formats, especially the one it's promoting! (H.264)

  • White Screen on h.264 Export

Can someone pls help me. Using Mac os x downloading on Vuze movies. Just download trailer
H.Potter last trailer part 1 . Watched okay in QuickTime. When Sharing to Itunes Library ( for streaming to Apple TV) video is blank screen but with Audio. How to fix BLANK SCREEN ? Its really weird because QT plays the video as well as VLC. To export to Itunes I am using QuickTime /Share / Itunes and works fine for several movies but for this last one (trailer Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows part 1) Blank(White) Screen with audio. Pls help me.

I've got a similar issue. Encode to H.264 (mp4) with Nero Recode 2 and get white screen with audio. However, it works fine with a small video clip.
Here's what happen. I had the video files (VOBs) and had Nero do a conversion from DVD to Nero Digital. My first run, I just selected 3 minutes of video and ran with the default settings for Portable - AVC video. Things ran fine and I could play in iTunes 6 and Quicktime 7. Next I ran the whole movie through Nero. Then the resulting video wouldn't play correctly in Nero Showtime or Quicktime or iTunes. So I'm guessing its codec related, but I don't have 3ivx installed, I have ffdshow and AutoGK which has Xvid codec tools in it
Any known incompatibilities with Xvid or ffdshow and Quicktime playback?
    Thanks in advance,
    jonatj

  • White screen with flash video

In Dreamweaver 4, I get a white screen after adding Flash Video to my webpage. All browsers show white screen in Preview, too.

Flash (if you get it to work) isn't supported by the world's most popular web devices: iPhone, iPad, iTouch, Android and others...   You'll reach a much wider audience if you convert your video to MP4 and use an HTML5 player.

Or, upload your native video to YouTube or Vimeo video sharing sites.  Let them convert it & carry the bandwidth for you.  Then, copy & paste their embed code into your HTML pages.

  • White Screen in ITUNES after Quicktime Export. Samsung CL65

I have a Samsung CL65 digital camera. When I shoot movies I transfer them from my camera to IPHOTO, along with my pictures.
When I open the movie in IPHOTO it opens in QUICKTIME and there is an option to EXPORT TO ITUNES. No matter what quality I select (Iphone - Appletv) the result after the export in ITUNES is always a movie WITH SOUND but with a WHITE SCREEN for video.
I have 3 digital cameras, samsung, panasonic and canon. I only have this problem with Samsung. The video file that the Samsung camera makes are mp4.
I want to be able to export from Quicktime to Itunes without getting a white screen movie with sound. Any ideas????

I want to be able to export from Quicktime to Itunes without getting a white screen movie with sound. Any ideas?
The Samsung video codec does not appear to be "conversion compatible" with any application employing the QT embedded structure. It took me over an hour to find what I assume to be a true, non-YouTube converted "CL65/ST1000" sample file for testing purposes (i.e., it would have been a lot quicker if you had uploaded a sample file for testing) before actually running a series of tests under both Leopard and Snow Leopard. Basically, it seems you can use an alternative application which contains its own codec and does not need to "prepare" the file content before initiating the conversion. I found that the free HandBrake application which defaults to the X.264 codec worked for me. As I consider not changing the frame rate rate to be more important then retaining full 720p dimensions, I only ran tests using a 960x540 @ 30 fps setting for TV device.

  • White Screen!! after export!!!

Ok so i just finished exporting a .mp4 file into a .m4v but it is just a white screen! the sound is great except theirs a big white screen!
    please help!

Can you provide specific format information? Open your source mp4 in Quicktime Player, press Command I to Get Info, and post the format information here. Without knowing the specific codecs being used, specific answers cannot be given. A white screen usually indicates that there is a playback codec missing from the system.
