MPEG 2 encoding

Hi - wondering if anyone has run into this problem.  I have Premiere CS4 and I'm trying to encode MPEG2 files with ac3 audio.  I do have the SurCode plugin for Premiere.  Here's my problem.  My video player the files will ultimately be playing on is capable of playing files with a data rate up to 15mbps.  I have encoded using the MPEG2-DVD preset and everything seems to be fine although I would like the video to be a bit cleaner, its a bit blocky- the DVD preset will only allow up to 10mbps files.  When I try to use the MPEG preset I can't seem to get the audio to play.  I can increase the bit rate of the video which makes it look better, but the audio amp/receiver will not detect the ac3 file.  This happens as soon as I switch from the MPEG2-DVD preset to the MPEG2 preset.  I have tried a number of combinations but nothing seems to work.
Any thoughts??
Mike M

Thanks Dan - yes, I'm aware that DVD's are limited to 9.8 mbps.  I'm not making a DVD however.  I'm trying to make an MPEG file which will play on an MPEG player capable of 15mbps.  I'd like to take advantage of that additional bandwidth and increase the picture quality.  As I indicated, the MPEG-DVD preset works fine- but the picture is still a bit blocky.  It just seems that as soon as I go to the MPEG preset the audio disappears.

  • What are best Mpeg encoder settings for making DVDs?

In switching from PP1.5 to CS3 the procedure is different for making DVDs and we have to encode mpeg files that later get picked up by Encore DVD build proces. What are the best mpeg encode settings for making the DVDs?
    Thanks,
    Chuck Taylor

    Question:
If you are doing a video that is small enough that you are not worried about size, what is the absolute best quality encoder settings? Would a Continous Bitrate result in a higher quality file generally? VBR is for trying to make a smaller file I assume.
I'm frustrated with even white letters on black titles that have some flicker. I just don't seem to get the smooth quality I desire.
Should I look at a different encoder?
If you output PP3 to an AVI and then import it into encore, isn't there a reduction of Q. due to the save to the AVI file?
    thanks.

  • MPEG encoder in Premiere 6.5

  • MPEG Encoder Premiere Elements 12

I'm working from a PC. I had Adobe Premiere Elements 12 installed and the MPEG encoder activated as well. My PC went down and I had to install my Adobe products again. Now, the current code i have for the MPEG activation is not working. when I go to the sight and try to generate a new activation code, it gives me the one i already have. Will I need a different encoder activation code to get it working or should the one I already have still work?

    AsherBlade
If you are working with an actuve Internet connection, activation should proceed automatically "behind the scenes". But there are features that do require first time one time activation when you use them for the first time. MPEG2 Activation is one of them. From my experience, all you should be seeing is a quick on and off message of MPEG2 Activation being done quickly and automatically.
Since your message is that you already have MPEG2 activation, then I would suggest the following
    1. Check your Internet connection.
    2. Do an uninstall, free ccleaner run through (regular and registry cleaner parts), and reinstall with antivirus and firewall(s) disabled.
    CCleaner - Download
    3. Download and install the 12.1 Update for the program, using a opened project's Help Menu/Updates.
Please let us know the outcome. Any questions or need clarification, please do not hesitate to ask.
    Thank you.

  • Need MPEG Encoder for Premiere 6.5

Re-installed Premiere 6.5 on new hard drive, but don't have a copy of Main Concepts MPEG Encoder plug-in.  I believe the latest was version 1.2?  The Premiere installation CD comes with version 1.1.  Can't find a copy of the updated encoder anywhere, anyone have a copy to share?  Thanks.

    Welcome to the forum.
I would have thought that the installation of Pr 6.5 would have also installed the MainConcept MPEG CODEC. Was this normally an additional install?
It seems that John T. Smith, or Ann Bens, had some links to later versions of the MainConcept CODEC. First, I'd do a Search of this forum and filter it by each of those poster's names. There might be links in some of those articles. Second, I'd look at a Repair Install, in hopes that the MainConcept CODEC did install properly.
Sorry that I cannot be more help, but do not have Pr 6.5.
    Good luck,

  • DVD Studio pro must first be serialized in order to use MPEG encoder...

Hey. I recently got DVDSP4. I was using the much older DVDSP1.5 without any problems.
anyway. My problem is, whenever I try to export into an mpeg2 file it gives me this lame serial message....
"DVD Studio Pro must be serialized first in order to run Quicktime MPEG Encoder"
I did a search, and it seems others have ran into this same problem. but there was no solution that I read....
I have quicktime pro 7, but am editing with the very old final cut pro 3.
however, even exporting into a seperate .mov and quitting FCP3 all together, and just trying to export directly from quicktime does not work.
is there any straight answers for this problem? other people have encountered it too obviously....
    please help....

Since you have DVDSP4, I don't understand why you can't just use Compressor rather than exporting MPEG2 from QT Player.

  • Can Anyone Help Me with ImTOO MPEG Encoder?

I have the ImTOO MPEG Encoder 2.1 and can't get it to work. I downloaded movies from limewire that are in the .avi format and I can't get the thing to work. I am registered and when I click encode it works for about .1 seconds then says it failed. Can anyone help me?

try re-downloading the videos and store they in there own file then set the destination file to your videos or something similar and it should change format and you should then be able to add to your ipod.

  • MPEG Encoder

I have just re-installed Adobe Premiere 6.5 on a computer running WIndows XP, and need an activation code for the MPEG Encoder, which is no longer available from Abode.  Is there a work-around for this problem?  I simply need to be able to produce a DVD from the edited AVI files.
    Thanks

    John T.,
I could be mistaken on this (do not have, or use the software), but I believe that Sony's DVD Architect (not sure if this is for all versions) does require DVD-compliant MPEG-2's for Import. Here, Steve Grisetti is the DVD Architect guru, and will either verify my statment, or correct me.
Not sure about any other authoring program, except for Adobe Encore.
Now, Adobe Encore does not, though that is an option. There, I do, just as you suggest, Export a DV-AVI, and Import that into En.

  • QT MPEG encoder message

When trying to export from FCP to an MPEG2 file "using Quicktime conversion" (something I've done many times before with no problem), I'm suddenly getting the error message "DVD Studio Pro must be serialized first in order to run Quicktime MPEG encoder." My DVD Studio Pro launches and runs with no problem. This may be the first time I've tried to convert a file since the crossgrade. Suggestions?

was think ingthere might be lower numbers for setting not to go below.....guess not.For most people, content and personal preferences will most likely determine the "low cutoff point." However, if you are using QT Pro "Movie to MPEG-4" profile, the minimum appears to 40 Kbps (32 Kbps video + 8 Kbps audio) for an H.264/AAC Baseline iPod compatible file. (I.e., lower video data rates are reset to 32 K when you try to press the "OK" button under the "Video" tab options.) Have never tried to go that low in MPEG Streamclip so I'm not sure what might happen there.
Does it matter what container the movie is in... .mov or .mpeg-4?Since I normally use the iPod compatible Baseline and Baseline "LC" profiles for both iPod and online viewing, my files start out being placed in MP4 or M4V containers. However, my workflow now invariably includes the chaptering of these files, so the content ultimately ends up in an MOV file container by the time I import them to iTunes (640 x 480) or post them to the Internet (320 X 240). Only problem with this is having to add my own "artwork" and set the "poster frame" manually for ITunes/iPod artwork display options.
And your saying not to use the multi-pass option...right?Based on previous experiences, I would estimate you may have problems with 8-10% of your file converions in the multipass mode at iPod compatible data rates. It all depends on the content. Apple iPod preset no longer uses the multipass mode and I suspect this failure rate is the reason why. If you do use the multipass mode and have a problem, try lowering the "Quality" setting (in MPEG Streamclip) or use "CD" output setting (QT Pro) or switch to single-pass mode (in either MPEG Streamclip or QT Pro). Data rates in the more normal 4-12 Mbps range don't seem to suffer these problems.

  • Create Realtime Mpeg encoder/decoder

Can I send an MPEG encoded video signal into the ethernet?
Anyone know if there are some DLL that I can link into my application?
Basically I've to realize an encoder/decoder software to send audio/video signal between two PCs...
    Thanks
    Fabio

NI made some cool JPEG string conversion VIs that convert between an image and a JPEG compressed string. The original use was to send a video stream from a realtime PXI chassis to a client computer for display. The compression let them send a fairly high frame rate of quality images.
Just search the developer exchange for JPEG string and you should come up with the routines.

  • Adobe MPEG Encoder

1GB NVIDIA Quadro4 700 XGL OS:WinXP Pro Pack1:Premiere 6.5 Encoder 1.2

  • MPEG Encoder verweigert Dienst

    Hallo zusammen,
    Vielen Dank schon mal.

    Hallo zusammen,

  • Mpeg encoding in premiere pro

Is it possible to create a mpeg-2 file from a video after being processed with Premiere Pro CS3 ????
In Export -> Movie -> Settings I don't find the option to export to this format. Does it depends on the codecs installed on the computer or Premiere provides its own mpeg-2 encoder ???
Is it possible to perform the previous functions with the legacy Adobe Premiere 6.0 version ???
    Thank you in advance.

Yes, it can be tough, when older versions come into play. Luckily, John T. has a pretty good memory and a knowledge of the earlier versions, so we, with poor memories, or zero recollection of them, trot him out to help us.
What gets very confusing is the PrPro 1.0/Pr 7.0/PrPro 7.0 issues, where things were in transition with new code. After weeks of effort, we then find that the poster meant PrElements 7.0. That's where most of my hair has gone.
Heck, I have to fire up PrPro 2.0 to see just how things are done.
