MPEG encoder in Premiere 6.5

No. Is a Volkswagen Golf from 1998 the same as one from 2009?

  • Need MPEG Encoder for Premiere 6.5

Re-installed Premiere 6.5 on new hard drive, but don't have a copy of Main Concepts MPEG Encoder plug-in.  I believe the latest was version 1.2?  The Premiere installation CD comes with version 1.1.  Can't find a copy of the updated encoder anywhere, anyone have a copy to share?  Thanks.

    Welcome to the forum.
I would have thought that the installation of Pr 6.5 would have also installed the MainConcept MPEG CODEC. Was this normally an additional install?
It seems that John T. Smith, or Ann Bens, had some links to later versions of the MainConcept CODEC. First, I'd do a Search of this forum and filter it by each of those poster's names. There might be links in some of those articles. Second, I'd look at a Repair Install, in hopes that the MainConcept CODEC did install properly.
Sorry that I cannot be more help, but do not have Pr 6.5.
    Good luck,

  • Mpeg encoding in premiere pro

Is it possible to create a mpeg-2 file from a video after being processed with Premiere Pro CS3 ????
In Export -> Movie -> Settings I don't find the option to export to this format. Does it depends on the codecs installed on the computer or Premiere provides its own mpeg-2 encoder ???
Is it possible to perform the previous functions with the legacy Adobe Premiere 6.0 version ???
    Thank you in advance.

Yes, it can be tough, when older versions come into play. Luckily, John T. has a pretty good memory and a knowledge of the earlier versions, so we, with poor memories, or zero recollection of them, trot him out to help us.
What gets very confusing is the PrPro 1.0/Pr 7.0/PrPro 7.0 issues, where things were in transition with new code. After weeks of effort, we then find that the poster meant PrElements 7.0. That's where most of my hair has gone.
Heck, I have to fire up PrPro 2.0 to see just how things are done.

  • How on earth do you export to MPEG-2DVD in Premiere Pro & or Media Encoder?

I'm having the same continuing problem in Premiere Pro CS5.5. I cannot export a sequence out as a MPEG-2dvd in Premiere Pro, nor as a MPEG-2dvd in the media encoder. I even tried to encode the file as an AVI file, and then take the AVI file and convert it to a MPEG-2dvd in media encoder. No dice. The file I'm trying to do all of this with is a 26minute sequence on the premiere timeline, so it's no space and data hog. It's originally an MPEG-1 file. I keep getting the error code that both Adobe premiere, and adobe media encoder can not read m2v.xmpses files. I already understand that these have broken into seperate files, with the m2v in there as the video, the audio file representing the audio, and the xmpses containing the metadata, but these files are not seperate in my experience with this problem. the m2v.xmpses is one file, and it can not be seperated. Ive been told that these files are seperated streams that need to be "muxed" together into one workable file. How do you do this?
Thanks in advance to anyone who attempts to tackle these problems.

If working with NTSC, then your Sequence should be DV 720x480, so as to match what the DVD will be.
Not to split hairs Jeff (nor to distract from the purposes of the OP), but you don't always want to match sequence settings to output, and the OP may not actually want to do this either - especially when working with lower quality assets and not knowing how many different ways the edit will be used.
Adobe's mantra with Premiere Pro is "edit once, publish many" and so let's consider a hypothetical scenario where you are creating a sequence to be distributed to web and DVD. If your assets are 1280x720 60p and you put them in a DV 720x480 (4:3 0.9 PAR 29.97) sequence to match an intended DVD output, then you are "stuck" if/when you decide to render out an H.264 720p sequence for Vimeo. You have to re-build your sequence at that point.
99% of the time, you want to create a sequence that matches your asset parameters, or that at least matches the majority of the assets. Then you are editing with the "raw" format and ready to up-res/down-res without creating multiple sequences with separate edits. This becomes even more imperative when and if a re-edit comes down and you find yourself having to execute identical edits across 2 or 3 or 4 different sequences.
Just wanted to clarify that point. That's also part of the reason why PPro allows you to create a new sequence based on an asset's parameters by drag-and-drop.

  • MPEG Encoder Premiere Elements 12

I'm working from a PC. I had Adobe Premiere Elements 12 installed and the MPEG encoder activated as well. My PC went down and I had to install my Adobe products again. Now, the current code i have for the MPEG activation is not working. when I go to the sight and try to generate a new activation code, it gives me the one i already have. Will I need a different encoder activation code to get it working or should the one I already have still work?

    AsherBlade
If you are working with an actuve Internet connection, activation should proceed automatically "behind the scenes". But there are features that do require first time one time activation when you use them for the first time. MPEG2 Activation is one of them. From my experience, all you should be seeing is a quick on and off message of MPEG2 Activation being done quickly and automatically.
Since your message is that you already have MPEG2 activation, then I would suggest the following
    1. Check your Internet connection.
    2. Do an uninstall, free ccleaner run through (regular and registry cleaner parts), and reinstall with antivirus and firewall(s) disabled.
    CCleaner - Download
    3. Download and install the 12.1 Update for the program, using a opened project's Help Menu/Updates.
Please let us know the outcome. Any questions or need clarification, please do not hesitate to ask.
    Thank you.

  • NewTek Tricaster MPEG 2 with Premiere CS4

Just curious if anyone on here has uses or is using the NewTek Tricaster and if so what are you doing with the MPEG 2 files that it records to get a good looking DVD?
The Tricaster records footage in MPEG 2.  It has two different settings to record with.  Standard MPEG 2 and Studio Profile.  Both are "I" frame only recordings and Studio is 4:2:2.  I had read that the Studio version is not compatible with all NLE and that the standard version is much more compatible and is supposed to give you at least DV quality.  We had just gotten our Tricaster about a month ago, and I have been messing around with it trying to get as much figured out as possible before our first event with it, which was this past weekend.  I had tried recording in both the Standard and Studio Profiles and imported both into premiere without much issue.  Both looked good on monitors inside of Premiere and I left it at that.
Our first event that I used the Tricaster with was a Highschool graduation with 3 cameras that was being streamed to the internet and then all 250 students are getting a copy of the program on DVD.  I recorded it with the standard profile and checked it out after the event and it all looked good.  Our second event with it was the next day and since we were not delivering the content on DVD to the client I recorded it with the Studio profile just to try it out.  Much to my surprise on Monday when I burned the DVD from the graduation (recorded with standard MPEG 2) it looked very soft and not suitable to deliver to all the students.  I do not have the exact setting that I used since I am not at my office right now but the basic workflow is as follows.
    1.  Moved the MPEG files from the tricaster to my edit computer via an external drive.
    2.  Created a new Premiere Pro Project
    3.  Sequences settings were set to Desktop, MPEG 2 (ofter specifics I cannot remember)
    4.  Dropped in my timeline
    5.  Trimmed start and end.
    6.  Export MPEG 2 DVD (NTSC High Quality Preset), Quality changed to 5, Constand Bit Rate of 7 Mbps.
    7.  Import into a new Encore Project, set chapters every 5 min, built a DVD Image
    8.  Burn the DVD with Image Burn.
The DVD is really bad.  I just could not pass this out to anyone.  The closeup shots look OK, not great but OK.  Any wide shots look really bad.  I have not been able to come up with any combination of settings to get the DVD to look any better.  I did not have a ton of time to mess with it on Monday and plan on trying some other things next week when I am back in the office.
Then I tried the other program that was recorded with the Studio Profile MPEG 2.  The first attemp all the movement looked strobed.  Any movement had studder.  I tried several different things to get this to look good and I "Think" what I did when I finally got a good looking DVD was in my timline in Premiere I set it to "Interlace Consectutive Frames" and then exported my MPEG 2 DVD files.  It does not make sense to me why that made any difference since it is a inlerlaced format to start with, but what ever it takes to get it to look right I guess.
If you have any interest in reading what NewTek says about the MPEG formats you can see it at.
    http://www.newtek.com/faq/index.php?primary=3D%20Arsenal&question=408
If any of you are using the Tricaster and can get good looking DVD's after recording with the Standard MPEG 2 format please let me know your workflow.  I would really like to avoid having to re-edit this graduation.
I am going to be using the Tricaster for a college graduation Wed thru Fri and I will be recording it to the Studio Profile, since it appears that I can get a good looking DVD with that, but I will also be recording to outside recorders (both to Tape and to a HDD) until I can get this Tricaster MPEG 2 stuff figured out.
    Thanks
    Phil

Bottom line is the mainconcept mpeg encoder that is licensed into CS4 is garbage, it looks terrible with any settings. I have a tricaster also but never moved anything from it to premiere to encode to dvd. We render everything out from Premiere as an AVI and then use Grass Valley (canopus) Procoder to encode it to MPG for our broadcast server or DVD. It encodes much faster and looks twice as good. I can encode 3 hours of video in 14 minutes on it's high quality setting at 8mbit cbr.
here is an example, from left to right its CS4, CS5, CS5, Procoder.
one of the cs5 encodes had bad settings but the other one and procoder are much sharper then CS4.

  • Impossible to export a .mpeg (encoder CS6)

    Hello,
When I try to export choosing mpeg (DVD) in premiere CS6, I always got a .AIF in Encoder CS6.
    What's the matter ?
    Thanks

I can't find any .m2v file in  Adobe Media Encoder…
I'm confused by that statement.  You don't 'find' anything in AME.  You send your PP sequence to AME for export.  Then you bring those assets into Encore for authoring.

  • MPEG Encoder

I have just re-installed Adobe Premiere 6.5 on a computer running WIndows XP, and need an activation code for the MPEG Encoder, which is no longer available from Abode.  Is there a work-around for this problem?  I simply need to be able to produce a DVD from the edited AVI files.
    Thanks

    John T.,
I could be mistaken on this (do not have, or use the software), but I believe that Sony's DVD Architect (not sure if this is for all versions) does require DVD-compliant MPEG-2's for Import. Here, Steve Grisetti is the DVD Architect guru, and will either verify my statment, or correct me.
Not sure about any other authoring program, except for Adobe Encore.
Now, Adobe Encore does not, though that is an option. There, I do, just as you suggest, Export a DV-AVI, and Import that into En.

  • MPEG Encoder verweigert Dienst

    Hallo zusammen,
    Vielen Dank schon mal.

  • Exporting to Media Encoder crashes Premiere Pro CC 2014

    Greetings,
I am experiencing a problem with premiere off and on. Right now it is an on problem. When I am exporting from Premiere Pro CC (and CC 2014) it will intermittently crash Premiere. I have tried this with several different audio and video formats (AVI [Lagarith and uncompressed], WAV, H.264, MPG2, AAC, etc). At the moment, every time I go to export to queue it locks up and hangs on the "Preparing data for export..." Media Encoder Launches and then it just freezes. I get "Problem Even Name: AppHangB1" over and over. Sometimes a full restart will fix this temporarily and sometimes it goes away for a long while. I managed to get a few sequences exported and then it just kept freezing on every PP CC restart.
    Here are my system specs:
Premiere Pro CC (up to date)
Win 7 64bit (up to date)
    i7 970
    24GB Ram
NVIDIA 470GTX (driver up to date)
    3 x 1.5TB internal
    4TB internal
    3TB internal
    12TB RAID 5 via USB 3.0
    USB 2.0 and 3.0 drives
FireWire audio device (M-AUDIO FireWire1814)... although, I am not using it for playback. It is connected.
Footage is from C100 H.264 .MTS, H.264.mov from 7D, and H.264 .MOV from iPhone.
All stock video plugins with a few third party audio plugs.
This problem happens with and without third party plugs, but it happens that this project uses them.
I have chatted with Adobe help twice about the matter and nothing has come of it. Log out, log in = same. Restart = same (sometimes), create new user account = same, and so on. The only thing I haven't done is completely re-install premiere, which seems a bit overkill. One of the reps said he would get back to me in a few days after he watched the issue via screen share. Never heard back.
I get the sense that this has something to do with PProHeadless.exe not launching or not running properly. When the crash happens on a fresh restart of PP CC 2014 PProHeadless is not running. I can start PProHeadless and it will send sequence to media encoder. When I try to export another sequence from the same project it crashes and I see another instance of PProHeadless launched.
Also, once the projects are exported to Media Encoder, I can encode them to any format with no problem. The problem is getting the sequences there!
Is there anything that I am overlooking here?
    Thanks for the help!

    Hi
    Premiere pro cc 2014  8.0.1 (21) build
    Encoder CC 2014 8.0.1.48
I use CC for Teams so it updates all the time.
Again when I tried to use it today by letting premiere open it by sending an output into Queue it crashed both Encoder and Premiere.
In order to shut down Encoder and Premiere I had to go into Task Manager and "End Process Tree" on everything adobe I could find because just ending Encoder did not work it would not close. I remembered that years ago when Premiere would crash we had to end a photoshop process. I found photoshop open even though it was not "alive" on my task bar. I had used it yesterday but had closed it. I also had to close dynamiclinkmanager.exe *32 as well as one of the three Adobe CDF Helper.exe*32. They popped back on but Encode closed and then I got a message that Premiere needed to close and did when I clicked the button to let it close.
After all this I re-opened Encoder by itself and checked the Preferences finding that Import Sequences Natively option was again checked.
By the way for me, "Launch AME manually, then drag the sequence from PPro's Project panel to AME's Queue (or to a preset in the Preset Browser). That uses a different code path than the File>Export>Media workflow." won't work most of the time because I do live events of panel interviews that may run 2 or more hours. I need to break them down to chapters for the web
Also I know this isn't part of this problem but I and many others would still love dynamiclink to work to Encore because the DVD is not dead yet. The current work path is a drag.
Looks like some programers and engineers have some work to do.
    Thanks
    Dennis

  • What are best Mpeg encoder settings for making DVDs?

In switching from PP1.5 to CS3 the procedure is different for making DVDs and we have to encode mpeg files that later get picked up by Encore DVD build proces. What are the best mpeg encode settings for making the DVDs?
    Thanks,
    Chuck Taylor

    Question:
If you are doing a video that is small enough that you are not worried about size, what is the absolute best quality encoder settings? Would a Continous Bitrate result in a higher quality file generally? VBR is for trying to make a smaller file I assume.
I'm frustrated with even white letters on black titles that have some flicker. I just don't seem to get the smooth quality I desire.
Should I look at a different encoder?
If you output PP3 to an AVI and then import it into encore, isn't there a reduction of Q. due to the save to the AVI file?
    thanks.
