Mpeg files fail to download in mediaplayer

I have uploaded a number of movie clips in MPEG format to a content area. When I attempt to run them by clicking on the movie MS Media Player is invoked but it fails to recognise the file with a: 'Cannot open. Please verify that the path and filename are correct and try again. (Error=8007000D)' error.
According to the MS site it is a invalid data type, but when I save the fil tot he hard drive and run it is ok.
What is causing this? Is it a Portal or Microsoft problem?

Thanks the-edmeister. I followed the advice in both articles but without result so far. Any further suggestions? Incidentally, I am using Adobe Reader 10. Perhaps that is the origin of the problem?

CCMSETUP "failed to download files through BITS"

I'm strugling with my SCCM Clients.
We use:
ConfigMgr 2007 SP1. Client version 4.0.6221.1000. Mixed mode, one site. Server installed on Windows 2003 R2, database clustered. Client are Windows XP Pro with SP3. Site has been published in AD.
Push Client Deployment works fine.
First I tried to deploy the client with Group Policy. Stopped with "failed to download files through BITS"
Then I tried to deploy the client with a script, and finally manually. Got the same error message:"failed to download files through BITS".
End of log file looks like this:
Starting BITS download for client deployment files
Failed to download files through BITS
A Fallback Status Point has not been specified. Message with STATEID='309' will not be sent
Kind of stuck here. Please help!

I solved the "BITS" problem. There was another web-application on the site-server that altered the permissions on the "Default Web Site". The CCM_CLIENT properties had "Script and Executables" selected for "Execute permissions". I Set this back to "None".
Now trying to deploy the client via GPO another error came: "Installation failed because another program is installing (1618)". This was during the wingapi.msi installation.
When a new Window XP Pro Computer is installed various applications are installed from GPO and also Office 2007 scripted. I guess this is a challenge for the ConfigManager Client Bootstrap installation.
So then I tried to deploy the client from startup script, setting the Policy "Maximum wait time for group policy script =0 (infinite)" and the policy "Run startup script asynchronously" = Disabled. This Works!!
The script will fire each time it boots until it is installed. The GPO installation will not retry to install. Therefore I think a script is a safer way to deploy the client.
I will test more on this.

Configuration to "Always ask" fails when downloading MP3 files.

Why doesn't the configuration to "Always ask" prevent the automatic playing of a downloaded MP3 file?
In Firefox 3.6.8 "Options" window, "Applications" tab, for "Content Type" "MP3 file (application/itunes)" and "MP3 file (audio/mpeg)," the selected action is "Always ask" for both.
VLC Multimedia Plug-in 1.1.0.99 is installed and enabled to play the MP3 files.
At different websites offering podcasts via MP3 files, clicking a "Download MP3/4" button or a "mp3" link causes the file to play automatically in Firefox. No dialog window opens asking what to do with the file.
Given the configuration, why doesn't Firefox launch an "Opening " dialog window that asks whether to open or save the file?
Other than disabling the VLC plug-in, how can Firefox be configured to "Always ask" and make it work?
Operating system is Windows XP Media Center Edition 2005.

ctrl-click on the link to the file and select "Download Linked File". Once the file has downloaded onto your computer, you can then add it to your iTunes library.

Hi Everyone,
Been having issues with getting SCCM setup in our lab. Everyone in the lab is new to SCCM, so lets start with that. I've installed ADK 8.1 and MDT 2013 alongside Config Mgr 2012 R2. My primary issue is with the boot image, or at least I think it is. I've
downloaded the WinPE Drivers from Dell. Ive tried using the WinPE4 and WinPE5. The machine is able to PXE and downloads the boot.wim, but as soon as it finishes the machine reboots. I've hit F8 to see if it is getting an IP, and it is. It is also picking
up the storage devices.
I've tried uninstalling WDS, removing the C:\WIndows\temp, rebooting, removing Remoteinstall, rebooting and reinstalling WDS, but that hasn't fixed it yet. Below is my smts.log file.

This might be caused by incorrect platform of driver was used in the boot image.
Remove the drivers from boot image.
Only add the network and storage drivers into the boot image and update it.

Software updates (.dmg) now download as Quicktime mpeg files

Since my last upgrade of Quicktime 7.2, most of my software downloads not save as mpeg files which will not open. Any golden advice how to change it back to a dmg type file? Latest one I tried was at http://www.micromat.com/index.php?option=com_content&task=view&id=158&Itemid=61 for an older Techtool 4 update.

I presume by "not save" you mean "save" so this is a little confusing. You download a file say with Safari , it keeps the name it already had, e.g. dmg, right?
If they are associated with a program that opens MPG files then right click on a dmg file and change open with to IIRC Disk Image Mounter and select apply to all files of this type.
Or are the dmg files and when they are on your desktop they are literally renamed .mpeg? If so, no idea what happened but just select the file press enter and rename the extension to dmg.

Well, first is that IE9 is not supported to be using with Forms 10.1.2.x. Second, if you want to use Win7 as the client, you must be using 10.1.2.3 plus the Forms Bundle Patch (ID 9593176). Part of the problem is that Win7 will not allow permission to the JRE to download and store the files to the JRE\bin directory which it does by default. To overcome this, the Forms product developers added a new feature to the Bundle Patch and newer versions which allows you to configure an alternative download location. Everytime i keep a file to download of high size,it downloads upto half and suddenly it fails to download.! Please fix

It sounds like that your connection is dropping out while attempting to download the file. Does this happen with every larage file you download, or just some of them?
Another thing you could try is to see if the download works in Safe Mode:

If you continue to experience the same issue in Safe Mode, it could be an issue with your internet connection or Wifi.

Failing to add audio track on mpeg file

Hi and thanks for all good answers the recent days. I'm a new and happy user of PRE8. I'm just about to finish an hour long movie. This is when a serious problem occurs in adding the last movie material to work with.
All thru the project I've added mpeg files without any problems. (Yes I have now started to import these files as AVI with a much better result (less stress on the process) as I have been told to do here). The way I have done this is to add the mpeg files, then saved them for personal computer as AVI and opened them in a new project, cutted them finished and opened them in the original main project file. This has worked well.
But the very last mpeg file I am going to add came into PRE project without it's audio track. The audio track exists. It plays in media player. But does not join the video track into PRE.
Is the only solution here to import the file from the camera-dvd?

Use Windows Movie Maker or Prism outside of PE to first convert the suspect file to DV-AVI.
See the FAQ on where to get Prism, WMM should also be on your system, or can be found at www.microsoft.com:

Once converted, test file outside PE and make sure it plays okay.
Then import the DV-AVI into PE.
This might get you to the promised land...

Lenovo System Update 5.0.3 failes to download packages

SU shows an error dialog saying "An error occurred while downloading packages.".
I reinstalled SU and Solution Center and updated BIOS. But it still does not work...
I checked several posts in this community.

And I knew that tvsu_log_xxx.txt has important information for debugging.
It turned out that SU failed to download "HelloLevel_9_08_00.xml" for the following reason.
"An error ocurred while setting the digital certificates for this download"
What is this? Do the digital certificates mean SSL certificate?
Anyone know how to solve this?

I'm having a similar problem with 5.0.5. Whenever it gets to "Downloading Package Information", it will show "15% Lenovo Help Center" and it dies there. Errors below in the log.

Java 7 Web start fails to download Java 1.6 version

Sorry for the almost exact duplication of a previous thread, but that was closed (Java 7 Web start fails to download Java 1.6 version
When launching an application requiring Java 1.6 with a Java 1.7 web start it fails when it tries to download 1.6 with the following message:
"Unable to download http://javadl-esd.sun.com/update/1.6.0/1.6.0_29-b11.xml for installation"
Problem only seems to occur on Windows 7 (64 bit), seems fine on Windows XP.
Bug has been raised with Oracle by poster Matt Taylor - http://bugs.sun.com/bugdatabase/view_bug.do?bug_id=7168311
Does anybody have any ideas?

The movie had gotten to the point that I could watch it all the way through but it still said processing and got stuck at that point and when I turned off the wifi to try to restart it, it deleted its-self but did not free up any of the storage It was taking up
Restarting my iPad does not help
Some thing similar also happened to my old laptop when trying to download the iOS 5 update to my laptop when it came out. It kept getting disconnected and every time it would try to start over and act like what had already been downloaded was not there though it was still taking up the storage space.
And it continued repeating until it took up all of my storage space. The data file would not show up anywhere so I had to restore my laptop to the factory settings and that worked for awhile but I eventually had to get a new laptop.

Did you try to set it up as new device, as explained in this article?

If this does not work, use iTunes to set it back to factory settings, which would also install the latest software:

Software Updates ADR Issue: "Failed to download the update from the internet. Error = 5"

The above is the error I am getting when running any ADR. The error is quite clear software updates are failing to download and Error = 5 being a permissions error its clear that the downloads are failing due to incorrect permissions applied to the download
path.
Here is the last bit of my ruleengine.log, everything above is the same except for the update trying to be downloaded of course:

Also, I do not have a patchdownloader.log anywhere, Ive checked all aforementioned locations from various sources and it just simply does not exist on my SCCM server. Here is my setup:
Server1: Primary server with all roles installed locally except the site database is on its own server. WSUS is installed locally here and DB is stored here.
Server2: SQL DB for Primary site DB
Server3: Secondary remote site running MP, DP, SUP. DB is SQL Express local.
So the SUP role was installed successfully on both server1 first and server 2 second with the site servers accounts. The SUP Synchronizes successfully and I can see a large list of updates available for use but not downloaded of course. I have set WSUS option
to store updates locally and have plenty of space at the target destination.
So here is my issue, I have been working on this issue for the better part of a week and understand the error code from the ruleengine.log to be a permissions issue. I have also proved this out but creating a test ADR with minimal updates and applied NTFS perms
to the target path for Modify with the everyone group (testing purposes only). The updates downloaded successfully. So this puts me right back to where I was, knowing its a permissions issue but not understanding what permissions are needed. Let me explain
further.
The best way to start is to show what perms I have to the target location for downloads/wsus/sup anything:
Path: \\Server1\UpdatesAndDefinitions (permissions being applied to the UpdatesAndDefinitions root folder)
SCCMAdmin (account used for most SCCM tasks except for NA) / Modify / Share and NTFS
Server1$ (primary site server) / Modify / NTFS
Everyone / read and execute / NTFS and Share
There are other system generated perms but the above three are the important ones. So hence my confusion I know that the SCCMAdmin account or the Server its self has to be accessing the target directory so why is it failing with a permissions issue?
My next step was to enable Auditing on the target path. Doing so revealed just what I thought and through me into further frustration:

Now I may not be the best I traversing through the mess of audit entry's and translating them, but from what I can see the two accounts that have the proper share and ntsf perms ive listed above are indeed the ones accessing the target location and the audit
code is success. I filter for failures and found no audits for failures whatsoever yet my downloads still fail religiously, unless of course I open myself up with the everyone group.
So next... I tried adding in the Network Service account with proper permissions, the Local Service Account, my user account, and all no go's.
Next... I remove the SUP roles from SCCM checked the logs for deinstall confirmations, and reinstalled these roles. No Go!
If anyone can assist I would be in your debt and very grateful.
Oh last note, but very important note I'm running SCCM 2012 SP1 CU4

I just tested with the everyone group further; I added everyone with modify for ntfs and just read only for share and downloads failed!
I then changed the share perms for everyone to change and the ntfs to read/execute and poof downloads complete! Obviously change share perms for everyone leaves me open which Id like to prevent, so finding what account is being used is crucial.
I have already tried adding all of the SCCM accounts I use and the servers themselves as change perms to share and ntfs and have not had any luck.
