Mpeg Streamclip-Video fastforwards, audio out of sync
I'm using mpeg streamclip to convert files from a sony mini dvd camcorder .vob to quicktime dvcpro50, but the video intermittently fastforwards causing the audio to go out of sync, any hints?
Thanks, Schooner
you are the second person i have heard that has this problem. with the first, i never heard back, but one thing i suggested it to that person was to connect with component video and analog audio cables.
are you using HDMI? is this something that you could try?
what equipment are you using and what are the file types, bitrates, etc... of the files that exhibit this behavior? does it happen no matter what type of file you play?
* NEVER MIND * i just checked the first poster and see that you chimed in there to. sounds like a potential hardware / software defect. i get something simliar with my computers if i plug headphones in or sometimes with long quicktime files, the audio drifts.
when in doubt, hard power the unit off and try again, if you haven't already.

Video's audio out of Sync once imported to Encore CS6
Hello Everyone,
I'm having some issues with Encore CS6 on my iMac running OS X 10.9.5.
I'm trying to burn some video that i've captured off of VHS using Elgato Video Capture. It outouts the files as .mp4
The videos play fine outside, but as soon as I import them into Encore the audio becomes out of sync. I've burned many VHS to DVD's and for some reason the problem seems to be recent. There out of sync in the timeline, preview, and once burned.
I even tried using Adobe media encoder to convert the .mp4 to MPEG-2 outside of Encore and the audio was still out of sync. I even tried cutting a bit of the audio off at the front because it seem to be just a little slower, and it worked for the first 5 minutes then it became un-synced again.
Does anyone have any idea's as to whats going on? Or has experienced this problem?
Thanks,
AngelaHi Stan,
Unfortunately it wouldn't let me selected the tree view. I did find a text view that has way more information. As for the length of the Audio and Video lengths there both 1h 23mn.
And below is for the MPEG-2
Thanks for all your help!

Imported Video plays audio out of sync in PPro
Imported C-Span file using Houlo. I converted it to MP4 using Houlo. Plays well. Using Gspot it plays at 23.976 fps which Premiere Pro correctly identifies. However when I play the two hour file in the Source monitor at the one hour mark the audio is badly out of sync. I started a new project and only pulled up this video to try to make sure there were no other settings to affect this. I want to pull a couple of quotes. Where am I going wrong here?

When digitising video gets stuck, then pushes video and audio out of sync
i am digitising from a deck rack, which is hooked up via a patch bay, with 2 J30-1 digi decks and 1 HDV deck. These are all connectable to my mac via some patch cables.
Recently when digitising, really only over the past two days, no matter which deck or tape format I am coming from, the video in my capture window gets stuck on a frame, and ends up capturing this frame until the tape jolts itself out of this frame.
When I review this clip, the video frame will stick, and then the audio is out of sync with it.
This happens on both digi's and DVCams, I am confused as to why this is happening, haven't seen it before.
Any ideas much appreciated
Liannenot positive, but sounds like a hardware issue.... try going from source to machine and eliminate hardware..if it works...you've got a hardware issue.
i'd test each deck direct. then reconnect it to patchbay...much more intensive, but at least youd eliminate many issues. it might even be a bad cable. i had a similar experience with a bad firewire cable...so maybe you start with the cable running to your machine.....for me i'd go direct and eliminate issues step by step source to capture. -
How do i replace video without putting all of audio out of sync?
hello,
i am trying to replace a video clip with an alternative clip while keeping the original audio, but everytime i select a clip to replace, it does so but puts the audio out of sync starting from where i inserted the clip...help!
Thanks,
stevenFirst, go into iMovie/Preferences and make sure that the Advanced Tools are enabled.
Next drag and drop the alternate clip from the Event to the frame in the project where you want it to start. A pop-up menu will come up. Choose "Cutaway". -
After Effects rendering the video with the audio out of sync
so, the thing is, i did the animation on flash, exported it, put it on after to edit audio and what not, everything looks fine, previews are good, so, lets render!... every time i render the final video have the audio out of sync, specially the audio that is already on the first video. the video its originally on 12 fps, if i change the interpretation to 24fps, everything get worse. any help?
ok, both Flash and After effect are CS6, i have a Lenovo Ideapad, can handle 64 bits
first i exported the video on .MOV from Flash CS6, without any problems
Then i finished the edition on After Effects, everything look good.
i have tried to render it on MOV, AVI, MP4 and the audio for the video that was exported from flash always get out of sync. i dont really move anything else -
Burned dual layer disk w/idvd 603- audio out of sync w/video
i burned a dual layer disks with idvd 6.0.3 and the video stalls about 20secs in, and then when it uh, "unstalls", the audio and video are totally out of sync. this goes on for the whole 90 min movie. if i play a scene from the scene selection menu, it works fine. also, it works fine when i play the movie from the project file from either imovie or idvd. its only the final burned product thats affected. i tried deleting the "encoded assets" and burning it again, which didnt work, same problem. finally, i tried both disks on a settop dvd player and apple dvd player application on a few different computers.
dont know what to do. the idvd project file is working fine untill i burn a disk. the problem is only on the burned dvd. so i guess i need to trash my whole project (AGAIN!!! YAY!!!) and start over (AGAIN!!! YAY!!!). wow, ive never had so many problems with an application before in my life. i dont have much hair left to pull out.
Intel Mini 1.66/iBook 16VRAM/iPod 30GB Video Mac OS X (10.4.9) Apple Certified Desktop & Powerbook, Data Recovery, Displays, iPod RepairHave you tried burning a disc image to the desktop yet from the file menu within iDVD6 and using apple's dvd player app to actually play said disc image?
if the image plays exactly as expected then we're looking at a media issue and not an iDVD issue. j/c ...what brand of media and type are you currently using? Verbatim & maxell are the recommended choices ....
also try lowering the burn speed within apple's disc utilities or Toast to 4x or lower. -
Audio and Video become increasingly out of sync when watching a movie.
When I watch a movie from my itunes folder (purchased) the audio and video become increasingly out of sync. It is like watching an old Godzilla movie. I am using itunes on a Dell XPS M1530 running windows 7. Does anyone have a solution to this? I am not sure if I have a hardware problem or a software problem.
Thanks,

My videos play with video/audio out of sync in itunes, what gives?
All of my itunes video library, including those purchased from the itunes store, play with the video/audio out of sync. However, if I use Quicktime, they play fine. I just noticed this recently with the latest update to itunes.
I found the solution using google search. Basically you have to downgrade your itunes software to version 10.7 and rebuild your library. Just type in iTunes audio/video out of sync on google search and you will find the solution I am talking about. I didn't think it would actually work because supposedly apple knows what it's doing but not in this case. Why they would put out a new version of itunes that makes none of your videos play right, even ones you purchased from itunes is beyond me but I'm sticking with version 10.7 for as long as I can.

I have read a number of forum treads and I'm at my wits end. I want to capture in HD edit it in real time and export to DVD, BlueRay and Flash. I have spent hours on support and updated every driver and configuration setting that I know. PLEASE will someone tell me what do I need to do to get this to work?
Is it the DELL? Do I go to a Mac? (Ironic that most adobe tutorials are on Macs) Do I need a different solution? I'm going crazy! Maybe it's me and I'm capturing and creating sequences all wrong. Please provide a workflow that is working for you. Let me know if you need more specifics. Thank you in advance!2. I did a search for HDVSplit and came up with this site. http://strony.aster.pl/paviko/hdvsplit.htm Is this correct? Is there a released version?

Audio out of sync from demuxed program stream
Hi All,
I've been trying to resolve this problem without any success. I recently ripped some video from a dvd in order to make a backup. I extracted the title I wanted as a muxed program stream. I then used MPEGStreamclip to demux into .m2v and .ac3 files. I imported these into DVDSP and burned the disc. The result is that the audio drifts out of sync over the course of the length of the video (about 1.5 hours). I've done this same exact procedure many many times and haven't had this problem before. In fact the video will play back in perfect sync in both MPEGStreamclip and VLC. I did notice when importing the files into DVDSP that the length of the ac3 file shows a difference of almost 4 seconds (shorter) than the video. So obviously this is the problem. I just can't understand why if the video plays back perfectly its not being extracted properly by MPEGStreamclip. I also tried demuxing with BBDemux, which produced the same result. I then tried with the demux tools in ffmpeg and that process started creating numerous different versioned files of the original file and actually ended up running out of disc space.
Has anyone run into this problem before and found a solution?
Thanks,
ChrisOk, I understand what you're doing now. But you're losing some quality by going to 422 and then back to m2v again, not to mention the extra time required for the encoding.
Thanks,
Chris

Hi Chris,
I have used this method frequently when issues arise,
I use the original "Video TS" from the DVD, open,
Then open Streamclip, select the VOBs in the TS that don't end in a zero,
and drop them into the streamclip window, singly if needed, then convert
to (I prefer) pro res 422 SQ, I like the results better than DV.
assemble if needed in FCP, match sequence settings to clip, and
verify audio and video are in sync, then use compressor to create
your m2v and ac3.
Depending on how the original DVD was authored, menus, tracks etc.
the ".0" VOBs will frequently contain a 1 sec. black slug, this can
throw the audio out of sync when the video is extracted.
if there is a motion menu this will become a video clip, usually
in VOB "1.0", you probably don't want that.
Hope this is a clearer explanation.

I'm having some problems with some captured HDV footage. After a while, the video footage gets out of sync with the audio.
Premiere reports some error in the mpeg stream and inserted some red frames when importing the avi. After these red frames, the audio sync problems show up. Is there any way to fix the avi file? I can't recapture the tapes as they are not around anymore. It might have been a tape problem that caused the error in the first place.
What programs are recommended for fixing avi?I have had the same problem recently and I definitely chase it back to the HDV tapes (I recaptured and at the same spot the problem occured). I had to carefully cut the bad frames and then resync the audio. I am wondering if Sony had a bad batch of tape. I have another batch now an will be conducting some tests to see if it is tape or cameras (had it happen on two different cameras in a two camera shoot--what an editing nightmare! Fortunately I always had one good track to cover and be able to resyc the other one.
Thank you Harm and Ann for alerting us the HDVsplit -
PrE11: Audio Out of Sync
I seem to be having some weird Out of Sync issues that may be unique - at least I haven't found an answer yet - and I'm hoping someone can help.
First up: system: Core2Duo @ 2.94Ghz, 4GB RAM, Windows 7 x64
Adobe Premiere Elements 11
What I am doing:
- Recording TV shows via Windows Media Center
- Using MCE Buddy to transcode .wtv files to (... - see below)
- Loading file into PrE
What I am trying to do:
- Use PrE11 to cut commercials and scenes my daughter doesn't like, then save show for playing on PS3
The files I had been using previously in Sony Vegas without issue (MCE Buddy profile WTV->MP4 High) are REALLY bad when imported into PrE. They start out fine, but within a few seconds it's badly out of sync and just gets worse.
I also tried (WTV->M4V), and that is just as bad as MP4.
So, I tried going to (WTV->TS Unprocessed) - essentially untouched audio/video streams, just remuxed into a .ts file. One problem here is that apparently PrE isn't happy with AC3 audio - at least for me. So I demux the audio out, a quick conversion to WAV, and then I import that along with the video. Here's where it gets really weird. The first 3 minutes get REALLY bad OOS - like a few seconds off. But then it gradually goes back to roughly in sync, and then bounces in and out of sync for the rest of the video - though not as bad as the first OOS.
I've tried just about all of the Preset project settings, and I do not notice any difference between them - the out of sync is exactly the same no matter which project setting I select.
On all of these files, playing in an external player (VLC or WMP), everything is synced up perfectly. Sony Vegas even handled the files fine with never an out of sync issue. The reason I'm giving PrE a shot is because Vegas's rendered output has been somewhat poor - and getting worse as I give it more complex videos (if you call The Cat in the Hat cartoon a complex video).
Since the .TS file is the "best" of what I've tried, here is the Mediainfo output on this file:
MPEG-TS: 3.15GiB, 34mn 55s
1 video stream: MPEG Video
2 audio streams: AC-3 / AC-3
2 text streams: EIA-608 / EIA-708
Overall bit rate: 12.9 Mbps
First Video Stream:
11.7 Mbps, 1920*1080 (16:9), at 29.970fps, MPEG Video (Version 2) (Main@High) (CustomMatrix/BVOP)
Any help would be greatly appreciated, and if I can provide any additional info, please let me know.Hi Bill:
I had seen that post in my searches for an answer, however my OOS is not static.
In the case of MP4 and M4V files, the OOS difference grows over time. In the case of TS files, it stays somewhat close, but varies (getting better and worse) over time.
This doesn't really seem to be an issue with the capture card, only with Premiere Elements, as other media players (VLC, WMP, Sony PS3) and editors (Sony Vegas, VideoReDo, a few other freeware) handle the same videos just fine, with no adjustments necessary. If PrE can't handle importing videos, then maybe PrE just isn't for me. :-(
And doing J-/L-cuts just is not a valid solution to this. If the audio and video get noticably out of sync every 2-3 seconds, in a 25 minute clip, having the audio and/or video stutter every 2-3 seconds for an adjustment is going to make it horribly unwatchable. Not to mention the fact it will take days to do the 1200 or so adjustments on that one clip.
