Mpeg2 / Mpeg4 and RTP

I think Mpeg2 and Mpeg4 are not supported by JMF with RTP streaming. Is there any Chance to update JMF so that it can manage mpeg2 RTP streaming?

Need help please!!! Does no one has an answer to this question? Is there a way to play an Mpeg2 stream and if there is a way how can I realize it?!

  • (ibm codec)mpeg4 over rtp

    Hi,
I downloaded a week ago java mpeg4 codec, but it doesn't work over rtp. I read the rfc for transmission of mpeg4 over rtp, but I don't understand how to modify the codec to work over rtp.
I made my rtp custom packets, (which take a mpeg4 as input, respective mpeg4 as output)
Every rtp packet contains the timestamp, a sequence number, (I not sure about the marker bit).
If anybody worked with that, please give me an example, or some advise.
    Thx.

Did you guys managed to make this to work?? I am also trying to use any encoder for MPEG4 and transmit over RTP. Can you tell me where did you download the encoder?

  • Streamming mpeg4 and divx.

    Hello!
Can I stream mpeg4 and divx files with Oracle interMedia Plug-in? I successfully stream mpeg1, mpeg2 and rm files with Oracle interMedia Plug-in. But mpeg4 and divx not working.
I have loaded two files, mpeg4(with mp4 extension) and divx(with avi extension) to ORDVideo column and try to stream it with interMedia Plug-in. But Real Player get the error: "This server is not configured to play the data type you requested. Please contact the Real Server Administrator for assistance." and in error log I see the error: "No handler for". If place this files to Helix Server file system, it is streaming successfully.
I think, Helix Server don't understand mimetype what Intermedia set for files loaded to ORDVideo column.
What mimetype I should return from PL/SQL procedure for mpeg4 and divx?
    I use Oracle interMedia Plug-in 2.1, Helix Server 9 and Oracle 10.1.0.2.

It is sometimes not easy to figure out what mimetypes realServer expects. They do not publish this information, and new format plugins are introduced every day.
What I do is to fo to the <realserver_home>/plugins directory and (at least on unix) do a strings on the .so files there. I then search these strings for mimetype looking strings of the type I want to use and then try to see if the media will play.
I know it is trial and error, but since Real does not publish what it accepts as a mimetype. Also, it might be confusing on hwat mimetype to use, for example, you use the audio/.... mimetype to play rm videos.
    Hope this helps,
    Larry

  • RV042 protocol binding for SIP and RTP (VoIP)

    Hello everybody,
I have a RV042 with a DSL (WAN1) and cable (WAN2) internet connection in Load Balance Mode. The DSL provider also provides internet telephony when registered via his line. When I disable the WAN2 port, my IP phone successully registers with the registration server of the DSL provider. I also defined protocol bindings for SIP (port 5060) and RTP (ports 5004 to 5020) to be bound to WAN1. My IP phone is set up to listen on only these ports.
    The rules are in detail:
    SIP(UDP/5060~5060) -> "myPhoneIP"~"myPhoneIP" ("RegistrationServerP"~"RegistrationServerIP") WAN1 [Enabled]
    SIP(UDP/5060~5060) -> "RegistrationServerIP"~"RegistrationServerIP" ("myPhoneIP"~"myPhoneIP") WAN1 [Enabled]
    RTP(UDP/5004~5020) -> "myPhoneIP"~"myPhoneIP" ("RegistrationServerP"~"RegistrationServerIP") WAN1 [Enabled]
    RTP(UDP/5004~5020) -> "RegistrationServerIP"~"RegistrationServerIP" ("myPhoneIP"~"myPhoneIP") WAN1 [Enabled]
With these protocol bindings in place when I re-enable WAN2, then after some time the phone reports "registration failed".
Do I need to set something else apart from protocol binding to force the VoIP traffic to go via WAN1?
    Thanks for your help
    Felix

Pardon my memory if I am mistaken, when configuring the protocol bind for the WAN port, there are 4 or 5 options. Service, which of course is 1~65535, source IP, in this scenario it should be the phone or PBX, whatever you're using. The destination IP should be 0.0.0.0 and interface is your desired WAN, WAN 1 or 2.
    Example:
    Wan 1- Cable       Wan 2 - Dsl
           |                              |
           | ________________ |
                          |
                      RV042-----------
                  ____|                |
                  |                     Computer  192.168.10.100
              Tele/PBX 192.168.10.250
On this example to route the Telephone / PBX to WAN 1
    All services 1~65535
    Source IP 192.168.10.250
    Destination IP 0.0.0.0
    Interface WAN 1
Please correct me if I am mistaken, I'm currently not at work due to the US holiday

I updated imovie and I used to be able to save as Quicktime file, now not an option & files are so large when I save as mpeg4 and just rename them. Please help!

Actually it is easier than I thought. It is H264 but the wrapper is m4v. You can just change that in the finder to .mov and drop it into iDVD. iMovie will send it to iTunes so just right click on it in iTunes and select reveal in finder and then copy/paste to desktop and change to .mov. Then drag into iDVD. Really easy.

  • Multiplex a mpeg2 video and audio stream recorded via a satellite receiver

I would like to know if upgrading to QuickTime pro and/or adding the QuickTime MPEG2 add-on would allow me to multiplex a mpeg2 video and audio stream recorded via a European satellite receiver (like the Aston Xena 1800 HDU) in order to make movies that can later on be converted to be viewed on my iPod.
Mac Mini   Mac OS X (10.4.9)

No. The MPEG-2 component is to play MPEG-2 not encode it.
Use Toast. I assume you have separate audio and video transport streams, if they are named identically (1.m2v and 1.m2a) Toast will detect that and multiplex into a new MPEG-2. If not , add the video stream to Toast, which will ask for an audio stream to go with it. Either way it makes an MPEG-2 anew.
Of course you cannot use MPEG-2 in iPod so rip that DVD (Toast can make just an image and you can mount that) to get the VOB file, then use MPEG Streamclip or iSquint to convert the muxed MPEG-2 file to MP4 suitable for iPod.
Note I am very curious - are you sure this device delivers separate audio and video streams? Not a proper muxed MPEG-2 file? If the latter then just MPEG Streamclip or iSquint will do.

  • Media Coder Failing with MPEG2-DVD and H.264 Blu-Ray Encode

I am useing Adobe Media Encoder CC 2014 8.0.0.173 build.
    I am a CC subscriber.
I am importing a Premiere Pro CC 2014 timeline.
I also have Premiere Pro CS6, Photoshop CC and CS6, Encore CS6, Lightroom 5, Indesign CC and CS6 installed.  Just updated all apps from the cloud.
When exporting the timeline to MPEG2-DVD I get the failed status.
In the text note section this is the result: MXF decode error in "J:\Murray-Gross Wedding\CLIPS001\AA0068\AA006802.MXF" at frame 16339. Frame 16316 was substituted.
    I had several frames substituted.
I tried both the Mercury Playback Engine GPU acceleration and I also tried the software only version.
    The original footage is;
    MXF File details:
Wrapper type: MXF OP1a (type: SingleItem SinglePackage MultiTrack Stream Internal)
    File generated by: CANON, XF100
    MPEG-2 422 Long-GOP
I was able to export the timeline to an avi file from Pro CC 2014.  But P Pro told me that the export had failed.  When I checked the folder though the avi file was there.
I am running Windows 7 home premium.
I need to make a DVD of this footage.  And would prefer not to reformat the avi file I created.  Thanks in advance.

Do you get encode complete with Errors or are you getting encode failed (no encoded file)?  The reason frames were substituted is because the source file had errors or other problems.  So during import, PPro and AME substitute bad frame with adjacent good frame and continue to import.  But if there are way too many bad errors and source is too corrupted, it may not be able to import it correctly and won't be able to export.  so let us know if you get exported file and you are just curious what the error message was or if you don't get encoded files going to MPEG2-DVD at all.

  • Capture and RTP on a SIGNED applet.

I am trying to build an applet that allows users to chat both ways. I want the user to install nothing (other than java) and i provide the libraries they need (including jmf). I have signed the applet to ease my troubles, but it seems they are still there. The basic goal: capture audio from two microphones, send the audio via RTP, hear audio on both sides.
Even though I have a signed applet with all permissions, I lack permission to capture from applets? Aside from the fact that this seems absurd, it's frustrating. I am looking to find a way around this. I don't want the users to have to manually change the JMFRegistry or download a program to it.
    The better options :
    1) Is there a way to take advantage of the signed applet to alter the permissions in the program? (Seems very unlikely, but it would be the best).
    2) Is there a way to provide the permissions in the jmf.jar (including jmf.properties?) that I include? (Seems more unlikely than 1)
    3) What makes this more interesting (frustrating), I can use the Java Sound API to access the microphone and open an AudioInputStream. Can I plug this stream, or some other object from javasound, into the JMF somehow to send it via RTP?
    4) Other options?

I found a way to use javasound instead of the jmf for the source audio (that's number 3 in my original post). So, i'm good for my problem.
If you want to do mixing, javasound should have more support for mixing (though I've not done it). Check out this thread, it was very useful for me.

I might have spoken too soon... I am just getting static - but that might be related to audio formats.....

  • Voice Quality Issues and RTP Header Compression

Has anyone had problems with RTP Header Compression. A customer is running Voice over IP over our MPLS VPN. They are experiencing packet loss and the interfaces are incrementing flushes and output drops. I have run SAA and seen some SAA packets dropped also. The circuits tested clean so I am beginning to suspected RTP Header Compression. It is enabled on all interfaces and it causes the router to process switch so I am thinking this is creating delays and leads to the flushes and the drops.
Am I on the right path?
Has anyone else seen a problem with RTP Header Compression?

  • AE with inbound SIP and RTP over UDP - Will not open ports

I am using a Linksys SPA962 IP Phone via an Airport Express with the latest firmware connecting to an Asterisk PBX (http://www.asterisk.org) over the internet. I may make outbound calls and have my incoming and outgoing audio over RTP with the appropriate UDP ports no problem. But, when I receive an inbound call, I get the SIP INVITE no problem, but the AE refuses to open those RTP ports. I have NAT keep alive at 15 seconds.
Now, I have tried almost every combination. Enabling NAT-PMP forwarding to all of the appropriate IP/Ports, turning it off (really should not be necessary with keep alive on register with the Asterisk). I am stumped, it is almost as of AE does not like UDP for inbound. I have others using Linksys routers with a similar configuration working inbound and outbound no problem.
I am stumped. Ideas? Chuck the AE in the bin?

    I Googled up the following:
    http://lists.apple.com/archives/Macnetworkprog/2006/Jul/msg00040.html
    I am having this issue:
    http://discussions.apple.com/message.jspa?messageID=7256265#7256265
Are all these things the same issue?
My ISP "tells me" that they will not allow more than one IP address per account. I have a basic cable modem i.e. not a router. Its a D-Link DCM-202. I have been told to try a level-2 switch but I can't see how that will work. As far as I can see the DCM-202 cable modem is bridging to my AEBS so that is allocated the WAN IP address by the ISP's DHCP server. Does this sound right?
I'd like to create an actual DMZ but since my cable modem only has one port I can't see how I can do that unless I use 2 routers. If I try this I am expecting that I'd have complicated port forwarding configurations no?

  • MPEG2 encoding fails, but MPEG2 DVD and MPEG2 Blu-ray works

    Hey friends,
Every time I try to export with the standalone MPEG2 format option in Premiere Pro CS4 the file comes out empty (0 bytes) and both Windows Media Player 11 and Adobe Encore 4.0.1 say that my machine lacks the necessary codec to play the file (although, I'm thinking that this message is popping up really just because the file is empty/corrupted. I'm running on Vista SP1). Nevertheless, if I export to the MPEG2 Blu-Ray format with not too dissimilar values, everything works fine. The MPEG2 DVD format also works, granted that's lower bitrate and resolution. So, what gives? Could it have something to do with the audio?
My source files are NTSC 29.97fps HDV 1080i .mpeg files, captured from DV tape.
Here are the settings I'm using with the regular MPEG2 encoding (which fails as mentioned):
NTSC, 1440x1080i, 29.97fps, 18.50 max Mbps, 48kHz MPEG audio, which gives me a final file extension of .mpg
And the settings for the MPEG2 Blu-Ray encoding (which works perfectly):
NTSC, 1440x1080i, 29.97fps, 30.00 max Mbps, 48kHZ PCM audio, which gives me a final file extension of .m2v with a separate .wav audio file
Anyway, any help would be appreciated. Did I just completely miss the boat on some well known MPEG2 audio encoding issue or something?
Oh, and my system is Core 2 Duo 3.33 Ghz 4 gigs of ram gigantic harddrive, etc. I'm fairly certain this isn't a hardware issue. The source files playback without hesitation and the rendering time is not overly long.

Since the destination is DVD, don't waste the time or resources to encode at HDV frame sizes. It will just have to be encoded again so that it will fit the standard def DVD frame size. Re-transcoding will significantly reduce final quality.
    NTSC DVD:
    720x480 with a PAR of 0.9
    29.97 fps
"Best Practices" would dictate elementary (separate) video and audio streams (.m2v and .wav). Avoid multiplexed .mpg files.
"Easiest Practices" would dictate exporting from Premiere as an .avi file and letting Encore handle the transcoding automatically.

  • MPEG2 pan and tilt artifacts using Compressor

Is there away to improve my Compressor/DVD Studio Pro MPEG2 encoding. I had decided to switch to DVD Studio Pro in order to get a better
quality encode. I find that it looks better everywhere except where
there is a camera move. If the camera pans or tilts, I get horizontal lines in
the video and it looks like crap.
I've been encoding through compressor using these specs
    DVD Best Quality 90 minutes/ALL
    Field Dominance: Automatic
    2 Pass VBR Best
    Avg Bit Rate 6.2
    Max Bit Rate 9.0
    Motion Estimation BEST
My project is a HDV 1080-60i Final Cut Pro v5.1.4 project.
I have been exporting a MPEG 2 file through Compressor using v2.1
Have you ever come across this problem? And if so, have you found away
for Compressor to handle motion better? Or should do you let DVD
Studio Pro encode? Does it do a better job?
    Thanks!

    Hi:
I find that it looks better everywhere except where there is a camera move. If the camera pans or tilts, I get horizontal lines in the video and it looks like crap.
That's the nature of interlaced video. Where are you judging in: Playing the MPEG2 in QT? DVDSP simulator? Did you build a disc and tested it in DVD player?
Try making a build in your hard drive and play the VIDEO_TS folder with DVD Player and set it to Deinterlace.
    Hope that helps !

  • MPEG4 and AVI problems

I just picked up a 80 gb Ipod classic and am having a problem uploading movies to it. Perhaps someone can help me out.
I have the upgraded version of Itunes and about 4 movies that I'd like to slap on my ipod, most of them in AVI format but with one in MPEG4. Itunes will add the avi files to my itunes library so I can try to convert them that way. But that isn't the end of it.
The MPEG4 file can be added to the library easily enough.... but when it goes through the conversion process, all it leaves me with is perfect sound and a plain white screen.
I'm thinking that I need to convert these files BEFORE they go on Itunes, but I can't be sure. Anyone have any suggestions???

No it didn't do the job. Not even close - so I'll open this one up again. It's hardly news that VideoLan is agnostic on these issues - all of us Mac people have defaulted to that player for years whenever QT has had compatibility problems - even with final public release codecs installed to enable QT to function.
Moving to another player platform is hardly a long-term solution for whatever Apple is attempting to integrate into the 7.1 - 7.1.1 series of their QT player. 7.1 was faulty; 7.1.1 doesn't sound anymore agreeable.
