Mpeg2 with audio

Hi,
I am compressing some video for a DV66 Mpeg player, it uses a compact flash card to display looping video, I was wondering if compressor could make an mpeg 2 file with the audio imbedded in it.
On the pc you can do that with pinnacle but I am using a mac. I was able to do it with mpeg 1 but that is less quality.

So, you need a muxed file? You may need to buy Sorenson Squeeze and check the station for the exact settings or the web for settings files. (i.e. I found a Fast Channel setting online somewhere)

Cannot Export MPEG2 with Audio

Hi Guys
I have a bizare problem. I've been trying to export a short 2 min movie to MPEG 2 for YouTube but it won't export the audio with video and exports the audio as a separate file (yes, the export audio box is checked)! Yet it will export with audio to AVI. What could I have switched off or need to switch on?
Can anyone advise please? The movie was captured using the DV PAL Codec (720x576). The export settings are:

Turn on the Multiplexer. You have been exporting el;ementary streams resulting in two files, one for video and one for audio. You have to make the export a transport stream to get a single file with both video and audio.

Why doesn't QT with MPEG2 play audio from iDVD VOBs

I'm trying to re-edit a friend's DVD so I only have the VOB files (created from a PC). I read I need the MPEG2 component for QT so off I go and buy it. Waste of time because ... it doesn't pick up the audio. So I download MPEG Streamclip (excellent product which does convert VOBs to DV etc /with/ audio). Then I read the fine print that the QT MPEG2 component doesn't handle all audio encodings. So just out of curiosity I read in a VOB created by iDVD in QT - again, no audio. So just what audio encoding does iDVD use - just curious ...

and yes, MPEG Clipstream worked fine, I exported the VOB as DV files, and I'm now editing away in iMovie. I guess I didn't need the QT MPEG-2 after all.
If you meant MPEG Streamclip, then you DID need the AppleMPEG2 Playback component. MPEG Streamclip will not convert MPEG2 files without it!

iDVD uses PCM audio if I'm not mistaken......funny huh?

How to make a video as mpeg_2 with audio together?

I just could not figure out how to compress a mpeg_2 video with audio in it, which means the video and the audio as a whole one file.
I am using FCP 5.0.4
when i compress my finished video using compressor, it comes out two files, one video and one audio....
I am just wondering what is the setting could make these two dudes join together to be one media file.

To do it with Compressor 2, create a new preset based on MPEG2. To do this, open the Preset window and click the + menu in the upper right hand corner of the Settings tab. Select MPEG2 in this menu. In the inspector, click the Encoder icon near the top. Once you're in the encoder section, click the Extras tab and put a checkmark in Multiplexed MPEG-1/Layer 2 Audio. Click the other Encoder tabs to set other settings like size and quality/bitrate. Save your new preset after giving it a name and description at the top of the inspector window. Then use your new preset to compress your video.
Disclaimer: I haven't actually tried these settings but I have some confidence it may be what you're looking for.

Exporting MPEG 2 files with audio & video tracks COMBINED?

I want to post a film on Google Video. I'm told they like MPEG2 files, but with the audio and video combined.
How can I create an MPEG2 with the video and audio combined?
I've also been told I can change the .m2v extension to .mpg after I've encoded, without causing problems. Their 'uploader application' doesn't like the .m2v extension.

Compressor's standard mpeg2 export presets are set up to create separate audio and video files. Changing a m2v extension to mpg does nothing. You still have a file with only video.
However, deeper in Compressor is the means to create muxed (mixed audio and video) files. Do a search here, it has been discussed a few times.
Still, why not send them an mpeg4 file?

Convert to MPEG2 Combined Audio and Video

I am editing a commercial that needs to end up in MPEG2 with combined audio and video. What is the process by which I do this. Obviously compressor splits the audio and video, but I need it combined.

Been there, done that.
I know the layout of Compressor 2 was different - can't remember if these presets were added for 3. Have you looked for Program Stream presets under Compressor 2?
Here's a thread I found on the Cow - says that after you use Compressor 2.3 to create your MPEG and AUDIO files, use MPEG Streamclip to mux them.

Problem with Audio on HP Envy 6-1130sw (C6F62EA)

Hello everyone.
I have a problem with audio on my ultrabook HP Envy 6. Sometimes when I try to play music there are no low tones and music plays really silent... And then when I restart PC problem dissapears and music plays fine... I thought there is a problem with speakers, but when I connected 5.1 speakers there were also only high tones. Same thing happens on headphones. Is it a hardware problem or maybe software? Actually I use Windows 8.1 and drivers are up to date. If any one of you had same problem please post.

From what you have described, I think the best approach would be to restore the original IDT driver, restart the computer, test that driver, then install the driver update, and test the outcome of installing the newest driver.
Use the following link for instructions to recovery the ITD driver using Recovery Manager. Restoring applications and drivers.
Once the driver is restored, restart the computer and test the audio. If the audio is good you can continue to use this driver, or you can reinstall the update and see what happens. IDT High-Definition (HD) Audio Driver.
If installing the newest driver causes the issue to occur but the recovered driver worked, I suggest recovering again.
If neither driver works I will gladly follow up and provide any assistance I can.

Importing P2 .mxf files with audio into AE CS4

I hope this isn't the ultimate newbie question but, I have been working with After Effects for a few months but haven't need audio until now. Is there a different process for importing/exporting with audio? I have brought in the P2 video file but I don't think there is audio attached to it. When I export to a QT file, there is definitely no sound? Am I doing something wrong?

Problem with audio and vga adapter in presentations

this is an odd problem. I potted a presentation that contained a qt movie. The video plays with sound just fine via the vga adapter until you plug in an external speaker system or earphone. the sound stops.
if you play a video outside keynote or play the video with out the video vga adapter or just unplug from the audio jack it works fine. am I missing something or is this a bug. For the life of me I can not figure out what the VGA in keynote has to do with audio.

Dr. John, this might be a little simple of an answer, but is the video jack pushed all the way in?
I had the same issue with my ipad playing a movie over a sound system and projecting it also, and discovered that the Apple issue iPad cover comes very close to interfering with the audio output jack, and that my plug into that jack wasn't all of the way in.
After that it's worked fine.

Will not work. To my knowledge, dual converting like that isn't supported. The Mac must detect the connected video output device and that sort of info cannot be done across an analog component uni-directional connection.

DVI and miniDVI only transmit video-signals but no audio-signal.
Regardless of the cable adapter you get (I don't have any recommendation) you always have to make a audio-cable connection between the MBA and the TV.
